No wait for a table but pretty long wait to have order taken. We were told they were short staffed, which is understandable. Server was super nice. We were there for burger week. We wanted pics of our burgers so I picked it up and juice shot out of it all over me and the table and chair... which is fine, but then we discovered we were never given napkins! Not only did we not get them, but we couldn't find them anywhere either. Due to the short staffing issue, the person we found was too busy to help us. When someone finally did come, we got one napkin per person. Which is crazy when you know your burger is that juicy. Every bite I had to wipe my face again and I used every square inch of that napkin and left feeling sticky and dirty. I know napkins cost money but there's got to be a better way. The burger was good though. The meat was cooked and seasoned well. I liked the balsamic grilled onions and Gouda was a good choice for the cheese.

Trying out UPP Liquid's Oatmeal Stout known as Pinball Wizard!

As I write this review I see that it is coming up as an updated review as opposed to a new one. Back in 2017 for this entry this review was for Immersion Brewing but now my update is for UPP Liquids. I am not sure if it was a name change this brewery went through or but I suspect so. Because if this was a brand new brewery I imagine it would have it's own Yelp entry. But who can say for sure... maybe it was transitional activity that reached to what my review currently pertains to which is UPP Liquids. This is still a brewery and it's a good one. So I am bumping up a star here as I really enjoyed the beer I had by UPP Liquids. The name of the beer was called Pinball Wizard which is an Oatmeal Stout. I do like these kinds of stouts very much as I like the oatmeal that is at play here and what it contributes to the flavor profile. For Pinball izard flavor features in this beer is roastiness, maltiness, a hint of smokiness and a coffee flavor. This hit the spot in every way and it was a joy to drink. Even though these beers are great to have on cold, rainy day the day we had it was a bit more pleasant and still. But despite that it didn't ruin the atmosphere as to when to have this beer at all. It was such an enjoyable beer I rated it quite highly on Untappd which is my beer rater app for each individual beer that I try. So yes, trying out UPP for the first time was quite a positive impression.

UPP Liquids - Weekday Lunch Review This is a review of UPP Liquids, in the space that formerly housed Immersion Brewing. This visit was for a weekday lunch, and this review is based only on the food experience. The staff was very friendly, professional, and polite. The space was clean but also very sparse. Aside from the pinball machines, it has an empty feel and there is little done to give the décor any specific ambiance. They offer table service and the staff was quick to take the order. The food arrived in the right amount of time, there were check-ins to make sure all was well, and the wrap-up was well timed. I ordered the Fish and Chips. The fish portion was relatively small. The fish was tasty with a nice crunch and the breading held nicely. The fries were good but nothing special. Overall it was an average meal. If not for the price tag, that would have been fine. It was filling, but at twenty-two dollars I expected more in both quantity and quality. My friend ordered the Southwest Salad. What I noticed was a lot of greens, and for eighteen dollars I would have expected more than that. Luckily my friend picked up the tab. Thanks Julie. There was nothing in particular that stood out about UPP as a lunch destination. The friendly staff was the most positive aspect. Convenience might be the only reason I would return, though there are several options close by.

The service was on point and the beers were all really good. It's nice that they can do subtle beers with differing tastes versus over hopping everything or pumping out a bunch of muted stuff. The imp Stout would be really really good if they did a barrel aged version. We didnt try the food though as it didn't strike our fancy at the time. The space is nice with good amount of seating and some pinball in the back.

Nachos with pulled pork

The waitress recommended the pulled pork so we got it on nachos and as a sandwich. Great beer selection (we enjoyed Flower Child and the Mexican lager). Good weekend stop and right next to Gear Fix to fuel up before shopping.

This place is so good. The beer is good. The wings are fantastic!! I highly recommend ordering the wings extra crispy. All of the sauces are delicious. Service was wonderful and made the experience all the better.

Cool place, lots of space. Really enjoyed the Hazy IPA they had. Friendly staff. Pinball machines for fun. Definitely stop by for a pint

Mid-day, mid-week lunch at Immersion. Very quiet then, so an excellent place to have a beer over a meeting, etc. Atmosphere is very good. In addition to the main room, there is a rentable keg room space for groups, parties. Service excellent. Food good, but not outstanding or notable. I had a chicken/bacon wrap that was certainly good value for the price. It was sort of 'chopped salad' in texture, which made it seem and taste like a bacon-flavored hash; not much chicken flavor. Pro tip - live rock band sing-a-longs Monday evenings in the keg room. And don't miss the plumbing in the men's room - unique and very impressive sink design!

Yay! It was the best veggie burger my husband has had in a long time... he added avocado and vegan cheese (which did make it a bit pricey). Awesome that you can do many different sides including regular fries, Cajun fries, salad, chips, and more options... do wish they had onion rings however. I got the hummus plate which was good but not the best I've had. It came with a baguette which was more like garlic bread so I would have, personally, liked pita more. It also had a few olives on the side with a red pepper type sauce. I got it with no pickled onions. They had a great beer selection and even a few tasty non-alcoholic beers. Also had kombucha on tap which was delicious (from Humm). Everyone working was super sweet and the vibes were relaxed and casual. Our food came out quick and exactly how we ordered it. They also seemed to have spaces for larger parties, too. They also have a little gift shop if you wanted to pick anything from shirts, to bottle openers, to beer candles and more! Would come back again!

Great view of the river, well spaced out seating. Lots of picnic tables for big groups. Where it turned was the very unfriendly bar staff and honestly the inedible food. I went to order 2 more beers for my hubs and I, and the chilequiles starter and bartender/staff where you order did not try to upsale me to add chicken in which I definitely would have because they were so boring and bland! She then said is that it? In a very annoyed manner. Not is that all for now? Or even somewhat attempting to be friendly. It caught me so off guard! I took a second to glance around behind the bar and the entire energy was like they were annoyed at having to do their job. Ewww She then turned the screen to tap my card (it's getting offensive to ask for a 15-25% tip for pouring 2 beers or making a coffee- I'm a nurse and I don't get tipped every time I answer a call light) so I hit costume tip, added a $1 and I swear she looked up and mean mugged me. My husband went back up later to order burgers (I sure wasn't going!lol) and we shared the wagyu bacon burger and I literally could not take more than 2 bites because it was soooo salty. And this is 2 beers in, my palate was probably dulling). Like someone literally accidentally spilled the entire salt jar on the burger. I tried to pick off the pickle to eat that and even that just tasted so off and salty. I would definitely go back to have beers and vibe but not to eat and I'd probably make my hubs order the beers so I don't chance getting mean mugged by the staff

The owners closed up shop downtown and created this new place on 2nd Street in Bend's Central District. It's now called Dogwood at the Pine Shed. Why Yelp won't create a new, distinct page for the Pine Shed is beyond me. That said, the Pine Shed is a fine place for drinks and food truck fare. The open, spacious 'shed' has plenty of varied seating surrounding a nice bar with quite a few tables outside on the patio. Mobility-challenged folks have choices too. For those worried about 2nd Street's reputation for sketchiness, don't be. Revitalization efforts by the city have transformed the area. At times of good weather, with the big doors open, the Pine Shed is quite a nice spot to relax. Cocktails were the raison d'etre for the former incarnation of Dogwood and that emphasis transfers here to the Pine Shed. I particularly like their versions of a margarita but the other cocktails are uniformly good too. The beer tap offerings are not so spectacular, however, with only four (and a cider). On one visit shortly after they opened for business, two beer taps were tapped out, which can be chalked up to growing pains. In any case, the Pine Shed can't be seriously regarded as a tap house in the style of the many others in Bend (On Tap, River's Place, Crosscut, The Lot, The Podski, Midtown Yacht Club, etc.). Come for the cocktails. They do offer low ABV and zero ABV drinks. At present, the food truck choices are abundant and pretty decent. Being trucks/carts, and thus mobile and prone to relocating themselves, I'll not list them here. Best to check the Pine Shed's webpage for current offerings and then go to the relevant Yelp page for reviews. Parking is street only, no parking lot. The city has completed construction on 2nd Street so there are more spots available than before.

Bad news. So if you're hankering for the mac n cheese or shrimp n grits or veg burger or any of the menu items, after today they are history. I started eating at The Drake in their first week of business and had many, many, many meals there over the years but things change and so, it seems, has the popularity of The Drake. Now the good news. The new owners are a trio and one of them is also one of the owners of the inestimable Ken's Artisan Pizza in Portland that opened its' Bend location last year. (Go! Even if you have to stand in line for 45 minutes like I did.) The first news of this ownership change was that they would keep the name and current focus of The Drake. But local television news reports that after The Drake closes today it will be reimagined with a new name and design and menu. The opening for the new place is currently said to be Memorial Day weekend. I don't live in Bend anymore but there is still a family home there and so I visit on occasion and knowing a "Ken's" owner is involved in the new enterprise may make me brave the wicked-bad downtown parking to try this new place. In the meantime, I remember how fun and delicious it could be to eat at The Drake.
