I'm writing this review so other people won't be misled by the good reviews here, like I was. Just my two cents. I was looking for an affordable haircut at a reliable stylist, so I turned to Yelp for assistance. 5 stars? Okay. I should have just gone with my friend's suggestions and gone elsewhere, because my haircut and experience was a disaster. I hate bashing on small businesses, but coming here is not worth your $20. I'm going to attach pictures that I showed Jenny, the stylist that everyone raves about, for inspiration, and what my hair looks like now. Now, the review. So essentially, I came in with a pretty good idea of what I wanted--a long bob with slight layering at the bottom for volume, no bangs, with no layers shorter than the bottom of my chin. (Think Taylor Swift minus bangs, Heidi Klum, Emma Stone, or Aubrey Plaza.) I was pretty unhappy with the cut when it was finished, but Jenny told me that it was beautiful and tried to convince me it was what I asked for. It looked NOTHING like the pictures I showed her, and she chopped off a giant chunk of where my bangs would when I asked for NO bangs. The shortest layers were way higher than the bottom of my chin. I honestly could have done better myself with safety scissors. Instead of looking like Taylor Swift, I looked like Jaime Lannister from Game of Thrones. Or Billy Ray Cyrus. Whichever piques your imagination more. The next day (today) I went back to ask for my money back because I absolutely hated my cut. It was choppy, uneven, and looked completely different on both sides. I explained this to her calmly, and she was completely unapologetic. She again told me that it was what I asked for, and that it was a good haircut, while yelling at me. I told her I would never come back, and left. Even if I didn't get my money back, a simple "I'm genuinely sorry you didn't like your cut" would have been okay. I've never had a worse haircut or a worse experience anywhere else. TL;DR: Unprofessional, AND a horrible haircut to boot. I've had MUCH better experiences at SuperCuts, Great Clips, and Fantastic Sams, which are all around $20 as well. New customers, spend your money elsewhere, please. read more

I was a new customer. I made an appointment and they asked me to come in at 11 AM. I get there 5 minutes before and get immediately seated, which was great. However I was ignored for 30 minutes while they assisted other customers. I was not communicated with that there would be any kind of wait, and it got to the point where I would miss another appointment since they hadn't even started my nails yet. I really wanted to get a full set, I had just given birth and wanted to treat myself, so I was really looking forward to this. I wanted to like this place because of the reviews but I don't appreciate businesses not being respectful of other's time. She did everything I asked her plus the haircut itself was a decent price and honestly hard to find decent prices around here without having to sacrifice a hit or miss haircut. This is my go to salon. I moved here in 2015 and have been a client since. I've tried other more expensive salons and I can say I'm always much happier with my treatment here. Julie is amazing! Every time I go in she treats me like an old friend. She is not only lovely but she knows what she's doing. She's transitioned my hair from an overgrown pixie to a bob, she's also put up with whatever crazy idea I have for my hair. I have been coming here for two years. I have a short pixie and Julie does a phenomenal razor cut that is modern, feminine, and full of texture. All for only $18!! Found this place on Yelp, saw 5 stars so I thought "why the heck not?!" Went in and the lady who runs the place was so sweet and friendly :D she asked me how I wanted my hair cut and she cut it the way I liked it and more! She was constantly talking to me, asking me if how she was cutting it was okay, and making sure that everything looked perfect. Before she did anything, she asked me if it was okay or gave me her suggestion and showed me. She really takes takes her time and does a great job! Update: Went in for a haircut. Used an image I found online for inspiration, and Julie did a very good job. I had to ask to be shampooed (which I thought was weird), but the cut itself came out very well. I did not have an appointment, just walked in. She was helping someone, but was able to get to me within about ten minutes. With shampoo, condition, and cut the total was $25, plus $1 for card and then added tip to that. Will definitely go back. Saw the great reviews and came in to get a mani/pedi and a trim, but when I came in I was informed that the manicurist no longer worked there. read more

Brian has been doing my nails for about 13yrs. He always makes my nails look beautiful. I am always rough on my nails and hands and they never pop off.. I followed him from his old location in the Tyler mall to his new salon. And I live in Norco and drive 40 min just to have Brian do my nails! He has a good personality and doesn't rip you off ! I have never had a nail person in my life worth driving 10min away! Except for Brian.. I lived in Nuevo Romoland and Riverside and Norco he is worth the drive! We have been in Riverside for one year now and I have struggled to find a nail salon that I love in Canyon Crest. I went to the Mission Grove area and found this salon located next to another larger salon. Brian, who I believe is the owner did an amazing job on my nails! I got a dip, he shaped my nail beautifully and it's not thick/chunky. He was also very down to earth and friendly, Cathy and Linda were super sweet as well! Linda did my pedicure and Brian did my nails and I am sooo happy with both. I always have the worst luck with my nails to be honest but they both are amazing I took my daughter with me, she's 2 (so not ideal lol) but they were sweet and welcoming Cathy painted her nails juice and gummy bears. I was offered a beverage upon my arrival as well. I cannot recommend this salon enough! They opened recently and are fixing it up, but I wouldn't just a book by it's cover the energy is just good and the work is great Their business is going to blow up (in a good way!) She was very clear about how she was going to cut my hair and made sure I agreed before she actually did it. Also, she's really friendly and I enjoy talking to her! I recently had bangs done and a trim at another hair salon and wasnt quite happy with it. My hubby wanted me to get some layers and on a whim looked at the Yelp reviews on this place. I dont live nearby. I was actually headed to Costco when I decided to why not just go check it out. So glad I did. Loved how personable and professional Julie was. She even showed me how my hair was very choppy and corrected all the mistakes. I loved her advise on what type of style suits my hair. This is a super late review but, better late than never! Julie cut my hair a few weeks ago, and I'm still in love with what she did. She is absolutely fantastic. She is experienced and friendly, she instantly made me comfortable in her salon. Most notably, she knows how to cut curly hair very well, and that is RARE. I can't tell you how many hairdressers I've been to that have no idea what to do with my curly hair and end up butchering it. Not Julie! You can trust your curls with her. More specifically, Julie is the woman to go to if you, like me, want someone who listens to what kind of hairstyle you want, and takes their time to give you exactly that. She's personable and has a no-fuss approach to quality results. I asked for a classic side part and without hesitation she explained what hair length would suit my face shape (oval). Trust Julie! My husband has been coming to Unique Hair for years. He is Hispanic and has wavy hair in the back and straight on top. This is the only place he has been able to get a cut that addresses the problem.
