This is LONG overdue, but I made my first appointment with Kristin almost 2 years ago, when I decided to chop off 12+ inches of hair. Overall very sad and disappointed I spent $780 on a coloring job that didn't look like my inspiration picture I showed the stylist. My recommendation is to look at the IG pages of the stylist and go with someone who has done work similar to what you have in mind. I worked with Shanan who was very kind and friendly but I don't think the execution came out well as there were so many differences from my inspiration picture (see screenshot). I went in the first time on June 7 and paid $420 ($350 + $70 tip) only to lighten my hair as she said we should do it in steps to keep the integrity of my hair (last picture). She scheduled me to come back June 14 to complete the look and she put highlights in my hair and toned it for another $360 ($300 + $60 tip) I had mentioned many times I wanted the caramel/warm golden tones in the inspiration picture and that I didn't want any highlights at the top of my head to look "too distinct" but more natural/grown in (maybe this would've been a balayage? Not sure) and she even said she'd do thinner highlights there to make it not as heavy. I don't think this is what came out because the highlights still looked a little dense at the top of my head to me. When we finished I was trying to be open minded but I could tell the tone overall was much cooler than the inspiration and the top of my head was a cool tone but the under half of my head was warm. I didn't think this was right but when I raised the concerns she said she used cooler tones to combat how much warmth I had in my hair and that I still have a lot of warmth in it. She did offer to retone it for me if I didn't like it that much, but I had been there for 5 hours already and had to go. I felt unheard and would've liked the warmth and subtler root area highlights to begin with. Again, really kind, but sad to have paid so much money and not get what I asked for. I also got my hair cut the first time with Jeanica and she was also very kind and did a good job. Update: I asked for and received a refund for the highlighting service ($300). She was very understanding about the situation and quick to resolve. read more

I use to go to barbers and they would do a decent job, but since coming to Stephen I feel I get more of a professional cut, and one of the cool things is he'll rinse your hair after your cut before styling so that you don't have hair all over. read more
