The day before my trip from California to Pennsylvania, I called to confirm that I could drop off my live leopard gecko for overnight shipping. According to UPS policies, certain live animals, including non-venomous reptiles, can be shipped through approved services. I had already purchased the shipping label, had the proper packaging, and had documentation from the reptile shipping company confirming that the shipment was authorized. My main interaction was with the manager at this location. He repeatedly told me that the shipment could not be accepted and insisted it was a USPS shipment, not UPS. I explained multiple times that it was a UPS label and shipment, but he continued to tell me otherwise. The way the conversation was handled made me feel like I was being dismissed rather than listened to. I also called the other Salinas UPS Store location for a second opinion and was simply told they would not accept it. Because I was told the shipment would be refused, I had to contact the reptile shipping company directly. Thankfully, they were extremely helpful and arranged for someone to pick up my gecko from my home. Unfortunately, the pickup didn't occur until around 6:00 PM, after the cutoff time for overnight shipping, causing an unnecessary delay and additional stress right before my cross-country trip. Fortunately, the next day, while I was already in Pennsylvania, the shipment was picked up on time and my leopard gecko arrived healthy and safe. This entire situation could have been avoided if the staff were properly informed about approved live animal shipments through UPS. I believe these workers try hard to help and effectively get things done with correctly as best they can with the type of work environment the are given.

The letter carriers here do a great job getting the mail out. No one really knows what a hard job…read moreit can be. They must first sort out a huge box of mail into numerous tiny slots . How they can do it so quickly amazes me. Then once they hit the streets they are pressured to deliver each piece of mail at a very fast pace. There are other staff who hide out watching how quickly the mail is delivered. If you are a new employee and not fast enough in delivering the mail, you will be fired. Not to mention the stress of walking the many miles to deliver mail. And the stress on the body carrying the mail on your shoulders.it is not an easy job at all.

Well as of April 2026, this place is under new management. Yippee!…read more The previous owners have retired and the new owner, Daisy, is taking the charge of running this operation. So far, the fresh paint and the modern look is really helping turning this place around. Daisy informed me that they will be bringing back UPS services in addition to their already service contracts with Fed Ex and the USPS. Look for more changes in the coming months.

What is going on with LBC lately? a sea cargo box was registered 8 weeks ago but going into their…read morewebsite shows no record of the tracking number. The shipment history should have indicated a record by the fourth week. customer service was called multiple times but could not give a coherent answer. I then decided to file a claim which seems to have rattled them. Bottom line: where is the box? An air cargo was registered over a week ago and their system also shows no record of tracking number. In the past LBC processing of air cargo has been fairly quick with the Cargo on its way the week after registration, but not this one. Did they lose this one too? Another claim coming up!

Thus you might pass the store; so drive slowly. Customer service is so friendly here. Caveat: they do not help unload boxes from your vehicle. The cost to ship a regular size LBC box is now $75 dollars (due to COVID?) they take cash or credit/debit cards for payment Overall, I am completely satisfied and recommend this LBC location.
