I wish I could give zero stars. I sent a certified piece of mail to my friend who lives in Salinas (93906). It was scanned into this post office, then it was scanned "out for delivery". The certified mail was never delivered and never scanned back in. I'm assuming it was lost or delivered to another address. I have had issues with this post office from Day 1! Today was the final straw. If you have an urgent mail, DO NOT MAIL from this post office. I had a ballot that needed to be in by 7/25 - I mailed in (Priority Mail) in plenty of time and just yesterday I received a notice it's in San Diego (not even close to where it should be and now too late to be counted in the vote!). I am annoyed with the post man from this office. Mail gets delivered to other apartments. If you get packages it says delivered when it has not been. I was suppose to get get mail Friday and Saturday which was a holiday so I expected it on Monday. The mailman showed up at 8:30 pm and still no mail. The mailman said he was the Sat.mailman and told us there is another mailman behind him and left. I waited until 10:00pm and still mo mail. The mail delivery people the have are complete idiots! I arrived today to find my Bachelors Degree on the road next to my mailbox. My front door is about 8 feet from the mailbox, the lazy person could have easily placed my degree near my door and NOT ON THE ROAD where it could have easily been ran over, stolen or blown away. Ordered something from Amazon, guaranteed delivery on Monday. Never got package, tracking said it was attempted at 1:14 pm and my box was blocked! I was home and nothing was blocked. Checked my Ring activity for that time, nothing, no mail truck or carrier. Went to the post office and talked to a supervisor. He said package could have been misthrown to another route. I asked why did they put attempted delivery and blocked box. He said they have to put something to stop the clock!!!??? So you basically lie! What the hell is that?? This place is seriously the most helpful UPS in the country ha. Like these two guys always have a great attitude. Like every single person they talk to they break everything down for and make sure you leave with a better understanding of what you did and can do at the post office. They should have school field trips here like omfg! SOMEONE GIVE THESE GUYS A RAISE if they don't already have one. Plus there is always parking in the lot, they have every size box and envelope even the free ones and yes they do cash and make money orders. I have had trouble with my mail and I am not happy with customer support. One time I could not get a hold of my amazon prime package for two(!) days. The carrier just was keeping it in his truck I assume, because I did get it on Saturday. But when I was talking to supervisor guess what he told me... he said "it's ok if something is lost, if it's amazon prime you can always order it again." I was so furious after these words, the staff has absolutely no respect for people's work and the fact that I kept coming to their office 3 days straight. They never gave me a call back or an apology. Another incident involved a carrier again who locked my parcel in a box and did not leave the key. I did have to re-order it. How surprised I was when I got a parcel 6 months later after they opened that parcel box. My most recent loss is a mailed check from my bank, which sadly was sent via USPS and was not certified or tacked mail. I don't think I will find it. read more

have a PO Box at the usps post office on post drive in Salinas calif. paid online 1 week before my PO Box rent was due. we had a receipt showing that we had paid already, anyway, 2 weeks later go to PO Box and its closed because post office said we did not pay for renewal. after a number of days where we showed the post office that it was their mistake , we finally got the situation corrected. in any event during the time that the post office was looking into it they were supposed to contact us they had our email and phone number , however they never contacted us even after we spoke with the head postmaster there. we had to go to the post office again to resolve the issue. not a very competent place ,hopefully it will improve its competency. read more

This single star is for having an Automated Postal Center (one of those smart machines where you can mail a package 24/7) ... But closing access to it at 6pm. Which defeats the whole point of having the machine. Please move it to a post office that will let people use this wonderful piece of postal technology the way it was meant to be --- or at least past 6pm. And update your hours on the USPS website. It looks like our mail carrier inadvertently left a box full of mail next to his vehicle and drove off leaving it on the pavement in front of our mail kiosk. These things happen no big deal but I couldn't get through to ANYONE with USPS to report this. I first called their 800 telephone number and had to listen to a number of recording while trying to reach an agent or operator. I gave up so I tried calling a direct telephone number to the main Post Office in Salinas and all it did was ring and ring and ring before I got a recording to call back again. I then tried another local telephone number to the same Post Office and got a recording from someone to leave a message. So I next tried to find an email address for the USPS and none of the listed categories fit what I was trying to do which was to let them know that people's mail is sitting in a parking lot. I returned a couple packages with prepaid labels. Tracking still says received at Post Office where I dropped them off, but they haven't left that post office after a week and half. Went in person to get help. The woman who at the counter refused to look at the receipt, or date on the receipt, said the tracking number couldn't be tracked when I got that number from their location. She wouldn't look on the computer or check the back. Another employee joined the convo and he wouldn't check anything either. So I went in for help. Outcome: Sorry not sorry, we're not helping you. Um... wtf! It's called customer service. At least make a gesture of helping the clientele. Regarding my last review. Postman still sucks. He jams packages in my mailbox where I have to rip apart the item to remove it. This is a post office, it's pretty basic. This is one of the larger, if not the largest post office in Salinas. You will usually find yourself waiting in line due to a shortage of staff. They are very helpful around tax time however. Thats it. No sparkles. No pizzazz. read more

If you are ordering something and need it on time, don't expect it from the post office until 1-5 days late. They're always misplacing packages. If you have a choice, use fed ex for things you order if you need it on time. More than a handful of times they have not delivered on the expected date saying my location isn't accessible. Total BS. Terrible all across the board. Every one of the weekend and part time drivers that I have entrusted with delivery has been dishonest or inept. If and when my packages get delivered on weekends they are opened, smashed, or delivered to the wrong person. That's only if they are delivered. Most of the time I get an "attempted delivery" notification on my phone when I've been home ALL day! They lie! Then when I call, the wait time is always over 60 minutes. When I go into the office, they always act stupid like they don't know what I'm talking about. I have filed at least 8 complaints over the last 5 years.
