Not only did they do away with lunches, but the quality tanked. Dinner tonight was abysmal. The Garlic shrimp $18 we ordered because of the lengthy vegetable list was pure disappointment: shrimp, frozen mixed vegetables (like the bag you buy at a grocery store, each bit no bigger than a pea) 3 tiny pieces of broccoli, 2 shiitake mushrooms, a huge mound of limp onion, and slicers of garlic. All sitting in a big pool of oil. Awful. And so bland, no flavor. My friends dish looked better, as he ordered his chicken & veggies $17 steamed. Shrimp fried rice $17 was decent. Wow this place is more American then McDonald's. Somehow they managed to make Panda Express look Super legit Chinese. First thing given when sat down was a wine list. My family has been coming to this restaurant for got almost 25 years and it is the best. The staff are friendly. The food is good, it's quick, and it's always high-quality. The hours could be better but there's still pretending we're in the middle of the pandemic which is fine. Hopefully they'll open up a little bit more great place for lunch. read more

Open for takeout during COVID. This review is entirely based on how they arranged the boy choy and shitake mushroom dish so beautifully, like tiled shingles, and when I opened the takeout container at home, it was so lovely, just like dining in from before all this mess. OPEN DURING COVID - Shelter in Place Quality Asian fare with fresh ingredients and perfectly seasoned.. my favorites are their hot and sour soup... honey walnut prawns.. egg rolls.. YUM They're offering SUPER easy pickup from the back of their entrance with ample close parking. Worth the drive to Pleasanton for me.. they also deliver. My first time here. Lasting Impressions are a very clean classy traditional Chinese Mandarin style restaurant I'm having the lunch special. Lemon chicken with veggies soup and the chow main noodles. We went on a trek to find the best Chinese food and can't believe the reviews below that are so negative. Does someone have a grudge or what? We chose, in advance, what dishes we would try at each; Hot and Sour soup, Walnut Prawns, Mongolian Beef, Barbecued Pork Fried Rice, and Spicy Sauteed String Beans. Uncle Yu's in Lafayette won on so many fronts. The parking is simple, the place is incredibly clean(cleaner by far than the others) the servers are knowledgeable and attentive but not intrusive, the cocktails we had were way superior (Lemon Drops), the tea perfect, and the food the best EVER! Especially the Walnut Prawns, OUTSTANDING! All the others began with messy dirty entry mats, and rancid oil flavor for frying anything is probably against some law somewhere. To be fair, the others were all lower priced, but we would rather have superior food and hang the price! Uncle Yu's isn't just "better", it's the BEST. And we are going there tonight , again! I hate to give them a poor review but it's been twice now that I've been disappointed. The staff are great ! Had take out wonton soup and they kindly added noodles however the noodles and veggies were cooked like a chow Mein and being take out broth is in separate container. However given that my noodles and veggies were already prepared like a chow mein. I didn't want to add the broth. The wonton soup should not have same flavors or prepared like a chow mein:( In addition the won ton wrapper coming off so not a good prep. In addition although not bad if they added other flavors or textures the wonton may be better. Sorry coming from back ground with parents owning a Chinese restaurant. We got the family style where each person can pick a entire which comes with rice and everyone gets soup and some appetizers. We had 6 in our group and we had so many left overs. My husband picked up three items last night and we were disappointed in the quality, quantity and cost! The Dragon and Phoenix at $15.95 only contained a few shrimp and the portion was small. The Chicken with Corn Soup was also a small container for $8.50 and the Pork Chow Mein was mostly noodles. So at over $40 (with tip) I would not recommend Uncle Yu's! Very disappointed! read more

If you want to poison yourself with garbage Chinese food, come to this restaurant. The food is absolutely disgusting. I ordered spring rolls and crispy chicken. The spring rolls were SO chewy. Absolutely revolting. I could barely manage to get it down my throat. I was able to eat half of a spring roll and then my body absolutely refused to accept anymore of that garbage excuse for a spring roll. They must be frozen and then reheated. Definitely not fresh. The crispy chicken was somehow worse than the spring rolls. I am curious as to what their meat source is because it is extremely low quality chicken. It is chewy and the chicken breaks off into tiny strips. So disgusting. In terms of flavor, the chicken tasted as if it was dipped into a bucket of various chemicals and then painted with some low-quality previously frozen sauce. You would have better luck at Panda Express. This place is disgusting. read more

Horrible service and subpar food. We called our order in and the food was cold when we went to serve it (about 5 minutes from the restaurant you our house). Also, when we showed up there was no hello much less a thank you. When we asked for some sauce the employee seemed upset that we had asked. On first visit here, was struck by the warm welcome and smiling faces. The interior has white tablecloths and candles, definitely upscale Chinese restaurant. Had three dishes: Duck Rolls, crisp and meaty with good duck flavor, sitting on drizzles of hoisin sauce. The lettuce and fruit salad was a nice accompaniment. Pretty presentation. Prawns with Snow Peas, in the best Cantonese style, no heavy sauces, so the fresh, highest quality ingredients just shine through on their own. Simply delicious. Peking Spare Ribs, a mix of very lightly battered and fried baby ribs and lean pork loin chunks, moist and tender. Sauce was very good, tasty but not overly sweet. Another winner. Service was excellent, from hostess to waitperson who took order to person who brought food to busboys. The food was great and service very nice. Linda was easy to communicate with, and they were accommodating of an allergy that we had.
