380 Park St Moraga, CA 94556 "China Moon" is an old school Chinese restaurant in the quiet town of Moraga. I had a wonderful first time experience here on a Sunday afternoon. I was at Rheem Valley Shopping Center looking for another nearby business, and I decided to go in China Moon and order some favorite dishes. I was greeted as soon as I walked in, and I grabbed a booth by the window. China Moon has a spacious dining room. There's lots of booths along the wall, and several "4-seat" tables. They also have large round tables for groups. The decor is pleasant. I ordered: - Wor Won Ton Soup, Regular Size - Prawns w/ Snow Peas The Wor Won Ton Soup was excellent! Ten dumplings in a light broth, and covered with an assortment of meats, shrimp and chopped napa cabbage. This bowl of soup was loaded! A regular sized bowl is perfect for one person. Grade (5/5). The Prawns w/ Snow Peas was perfect. Good amount of prawns, covered with snow peas. Also some water chestnut and bamboo shoot. Light seasoning. Great way to add veggies to my meal. Grade (5/5). I saw some interesting dishes on their menu, and I'll have to return to try them. Dishes such as: Salted Fish Chicken & Tofu Clay Pot, Lettuce Wrapped Chicken, and Pork & Century Egg Rice Porridge. 100 Year old eggs! Free parking in shopping center lot and along the street. So escape the big city and come out to quiet Moraga and try China Moon!

Surprised moms at work & treated her for lunch. China moon is right around the corner. My mom loves eating here and my sister Megan when she worked out this way. We shared the honey walnut prawns and combo chow mien. It was enough for both of us to share both items and take some home. They give you oranges slices and fortune cookie at the end of every meal. The chow mien was well seasoned & had plenty of meat and veggies. Very filling. Walnut prawns were cooked to perfection. Not over cooked could of used more sauce though. Overall food was very good and big portions enough for two ppl to share. Seasoned well and customer service was very very good! Megan said hi!

Chicken chow mein and vegetable fried rice

I agree with the statement that this is the best Chinese food in Moraga. I have tried many Chinese restaurant and this one is by far my favorite. Great pricing for Chinese food in Moraga. I love their chicken chow mein and their sweet and sour chicken! The ambiance is nice and the server is always very kind, helpful, and attentive. Me and my friends love to eat here after a long day!

This is my first time grabbing food from this place since I was a little kid so I really didn't remember this place at all. I thought everything here was tasty and generously portioned. I will definitely come back for more! Chicken chow fun was delicious will definitely be getting this again. I got a sweet and spicy eggplant dish also very good as well as kung pow 3 ways which had chicken, shrimp and beef. I thought the protein was cooked nicely and a hardy amount.

Not greasy, flavorful, China Palace is sure to have what you're looking for. The only "disappointing" thing was that they did not have the appetizer sampler available anymore and the calamari was not available at the time that we ordered. But not a super big deal. When I went in to pick up, they were just direct and straight to the point, which I think is what some people confused with being "rude" in some of the other reviews I read. But in reality, its just straight up. They did seem very grateful that I came in and ordered, so I will be back when that craving strikes again.

The service though... let's just say I can tell why everyone was taking their food to go. We were literally the only ones in the place besides the employees sitting in the dining area when we walked in. Greeted by a yell from across the room, "how many." The whole dinner, In our opinion we felt as if we were being yelled at, the hospitality here is well below average and definitely not inviting at all. Short high toned responses. We felt as if the employees were upset we decided to dine in :( Mind you it's our first experience here, apologies we're not aware of the unspoken code... eat here you won't get treated kindly, facts. The gratuity will be added though :)

We didn't have to wait for a table, but it was quite full for how many tables they have! They have both a good amount of outdoor seating and indoor seating. Ordering is done via a QR code on each table. I want to start out by saying that we were all hungry after a hike, so between the three of us, we shared: 1) Pig Ears & Cucumber w/ Chili Sauce: I love the crunchy, gelatinous feeling of biting into these. They're kinda refreshing since it's usually served cold with cucumber. I think they give a pretty good portion for this appetizer dish. 2) String Beans Sauteed w/ Garlic Sauce: Lots of garlic pieces mixed into these string beans! The beans weren't the most fresh. There were some stringy ones, but portion was also pretty generous and I usually like having these when I have dumplings! It's a nice pairing. 3) Shrimp, Egg, Chive Pockets (2): These are huge pockets and packed full of ingredients. The skin was thin, crispy, but just a tad oily. I love that they added so much chives into it. Although the skin fell apart pretty quickly - either because it's too heavy with ingredients or the ingredients were wet - I appreciate the thin skin more than a thick skin. 4) Juicy Pan-fried Pork Buns: These were my favorite. I haven't found a really good one around the Bay until I tried these. Usually the buns I get are either too thick-skinned, doesn't have good bun to pork ratio, or dry. These on the other hand, were pretty close to perfect. There was a lot of juice inside - I would say as much as the XLBs. The skin was still pretty thin on the top and not too dough-y on the bottom, but also had a nice crunch from being pan-fried. And the pork was nicely flavored! I would come back just for these. 5) Pork Xiao Long Bao: Also pretty good! Skin was thin and held a lot of juice! Pork was nicely flavored as well! But portion was smaller than most other restaurants I've been to. 6) Dumplings with Shrimp, Pork & Chive (10): These were also one of my favorites. They have their skin perfected - not too thick. Filling wise, this is one of my top go-to for filling, and it's hard to resist a good dumpling! We walked out with our bellies full and feeling great. I can't say there were much interaction with the servers since they were so busy, but would come back when I'm around the area!

The BBQ pork buns, shu mai, potstickers, and especially the turnip cakes were all super good. The combination fried rice was delicious, not oily at all, and the portion size was very generous. We also ordered the General Chicken, salt and pepper fish, mapo tofu, and Singapore noodles. We definitely ordered enough for very hungry people, and still had plenty left to take home. The space itself is very welcoming and open -- clean, comfortable, and not overly stuffy. The servers were attentive, friendly, and genuinely kind throughout the meal. Special shoutout to Vivian for letting us know what pepper was in the shakers because that crushed white pepper was seriously so tasty also for being so sweet, made our experience 20/10

Ordered a few dim sum items but ordered off their main entree menu which we haven't done before. Here's what we ordered: Siu Mai - it was delish! This isn't always created equally. lol some places it almost looks like they served frozen store bought siu Mai, but this was legit! Honey walnut prawns - I'm obsessed with this!! It was perfectly cooked! Nice and crispy on the outside and the shrimp fully cooked on the inside. Fried shrimp dumpling: this is my go to at most dumplings sum places. It was delish! Chicken Crispy Noodles: this is the star of the show for me. Their pan fried noodles are perfect. It reminds me of a place I used to go to in sf when I was in middle school which is no longer there. The taste, texture of the noodles brought back memories! I know there are many iterations of pan fried Hong Kong style noodles, but those are also not created equally. This is a winner! Mapo tofu: this is hubby's favorite. We really enjoyed it and will definitely get it again! I'm not going to list everything we got, but I did put the ones that are my favs. Everything we ordered was amazing. What helps too is that the ladies that work here are all so friendly!
