This location opened up a few weeks ago so hot new spot in town- prepare ahead and make a reservation a few days before! I was visiting my family in Lubbock and there were 14 of us. The restaurant was able to accommodate us with two long tables. There was a ton of selections for food and drinks, majority of us ordered fajitas cus how can you not? We were celebrating my grandma's belated birthday and had a blast. No complaints with service here. One of the managers checked on our table multiple times and our server Alex was so attentive, patient, and just a fun/friendly person. He made great recommendations for dinner and drinks and just made our dinner memorable overall. The chocolate piñata was a great closer for our dinner and a great dessert to share for a big party like ours. The churros and fruit were delectable. The staff was still wearing mask. When we got there, we were seated promptly and chips and salsa served. We had to ask twice for salt and was finally served a BOWL of salt. Their salsa had no flavor and was watered down. We ate it anyway, just to hope our chips would flavor it! We ask for another bowl of salsa and NEVER received it. I got a bowl of charro beans with my meal and only a knife and fork was brought. No spoons at all. We gave up at this point and didn't ask for a spoon. We knew we'd never receive it! We decided to give Uncle Julios when we were moving our son back up to Lubbock for College (Wreck'em!!!). 1st let me start by saying we've eaten at a lot of fine restaurants over the years and there are 2 things that make for a great dining experience in my opinion. The first is great food, and the 2nd is excellent service, both of which we experienced. Our server Brandi's knowledge of the menu was spot on. Brandi explained they were a scratch kitchen and pointed us towards the fajita's, table side guacamole and mixed berry margarita's along with the habanero salsa, all of which were absolutely amazing. If you're in town looking for great Mexican food then I would certainly give Uncle Julio's a try. I would also strongly suggest asking for Brandi. The service was terrible and our waitress never kept our water filled. Our appetizer (nachos especial) took 30 minutes to come out and were soggy and chewy. We ended up scrapping the toppings off and putting on a regular chip. The food finally came out and again the tacos were so chewy that we ended up dumping the inside out and eating them with chips. Made a special trip into Lubbock to have lunch at Uncle Julio's. We are long time fans and have eaten at several of their restaurants in DFW so we came in with certain expectations and they delivered. The flavors, quality and quantity of food were consistent. We had a slight issue with our order which they quickly addressed. I'd certainly come back. I recommend the margaritas, the queso blanco, and anything with the steak fajita meat! read more

The chicken in the taco salad was TERRIBLE, it tasted so bitter to the point you wonder if it was poisoned. Rest of the food was nothing to write home about either. First time at Uncle Julio's was horrible. Have to say the manager, Kyle and waiter, Toby, had excellent customer service. The "fajitas" were rare and red on the inside not charred and not even cut all the way through. The "black beans" were cold and extremely dry. The chicken enchiladas were dry and crumbly. The salsa was bland. All the food was cold and dry. The Habanero Bacon wrapped shrimp was undercooked. Nothing about the food was good. This IS NOT made from scratch Mexican food. If there was a real Mexican or Tejano involved with creating the recipes, this food would look and taste completely different. We were given a "complimentary dessert" that we didn't touch that looked like hard, dark chocolate with fruity pebbles on top. Uncle Julio's, I am available for consulting you on what AUTHENTIC TexMex/Mexican food should look or taste like. Dang! This place and it's high prices has me thinking I should open a REAL/AUTHENTIC TexMex food truck if this is where the bar is for "authentic Mexican/TexMex food" (on the floor). In their defense, the manager refunded our 2 meals when he came to the table to see what the problem was. We didn't complain and had already paid our tab. First off, the service was very good, however the food was definely sub par. My wife and I finally went after giving them plenty of time to work out any kinks. We ordered the chicken and beef fajitas for 2. They first came with a single order - and the server caught that it was a single and took it back - no problem, we were having enjoyable conversation. The left the bacon wrapped shrimp we ordered so we munched on those. They came back with the double order and everything looked ok except they really scrimped on the green peppers and onions. The beef ended up being stringy, fatty, gristle-ladened pieces that were somewhat inedible. I pulled it out of my fajita because I couldn't bite through it. I looked at the other pieces and there were only a couple of small parts of the pieces that were edible. The Chicken was very good and tender. We put the beef off to the side to show our servers because we thought they may want to talk with the kitchen staff. They apologized and asked if we wanted more beef to replace it. We declined as we didn't want to eat any more crappy beef, nor were we doing this to get something free. The bill came - $67 (with tip) for fajitas that were not up to the cost and that we could have gotten pretty much anywhere else and they would have been better. Disappointing! I had the Tex-Mex Combination. The taco was good but the rest of the plate wasn't the best. The rice was dry and hard, and the "refried" beans were watery. Their margarita of the month was watermelon. Sounded good so we ordered a couple. We didn't know they would be in these little baby glasses for $12 per margarita! Very disappointed in the meal that we had delivered through Uber Eats. The meat was dry and had no flavor. The top of my tortilla was missing on my cheese enchilada. My girlfriend's tacos just came with the meat, no cheese or lettuce. For the amount of money we spent you would think it would come looking just like you got at the restaurant. read more

Went online to book reservations said to contact branch called for 45 mins never was answered says to leave a message but starts recording over and over. Went for the 1st time. Atmosphere is really great and service was excellent. However, pretty disappointed in the quality of food. Chips and salsa were flavorless. I got the grilled fish tacos and they were bland as well. Another person got the Tex mex plate and it was good, chicken enchiladas were the best thing on the plate. Considering the price, not a fan. My wife and I really enjoyed our one experience here. We had the guacamole, steak fajitas, and fish tacos, and really liked each item. The salsa was solid as well. Service was good and the wait wasn't too long. We were able to use a coupon for free guacamole, so overall the price was fair, but otherwise it would've been pushing a bit too expensive. This was our first time trying this place and we were very excited. The atmosphere was great, services friendly and prompt, and we felt very welcomed. My fish tacos were burnt and the overall meal was kind of flavorless. My friend had the steak enchiladas and loved the rice, but the steak was over marinated and didn't taste right. Overall, it was not a horrible experience, but not worth the price we paid. We will probably go again to give it another chance, but we would have to be going for an event-we wouldn't go on our own. read more

I am not a chain fan. However, we dined at their soft opening and it was out of this world! We felt like we were on vacation. Until we walked out into the mall parking lot view a view of JC Penny and the loop. Lol! We have tried returning 3 times with no luck. The wait was entirely too long and clearly understaffed. The patio was only half open on a perfect West Texas evening. I hope they can hire more and keep up quality food service. This is one chain I would like to stay in the LBK. read more

We waited 15 minutes later than initially informed and was met with cold indifference when trying to get clarification. Our waiter was kind and helpful but we had to ask for a menu from another. The hot sauce was chunky and mild, to my delight. I am amazed that a national chain would broadcast a brazenly political news station. Why automatically alienate and anger a portion of your patrons, when the upside in a restaurant is so meager? Remember what grandma said?
