Garcia's is a dependable go to for Tex-Mex. The chips are served warm and the salsa has a great tomatoey flavor with a hint of heat. I had the #5, a cheese poblano and cheese enchilada with rice & beans. The food came out fast and hot and tasted great. Our server kept the water and salsa full as well. We found this place a year or so ago and have gone back about once a week since. The nachos have melted cheddar...we get the ground beef version. Get peppers added at no additional cost and get a half order unless it's all you want. We have tried all varieties of fajitas, the enchiladas, rellenos, and burritos. All were first rate. Parking can be tricky so get there early. Oh yes, great margarita. Skip the Bloody Mary. Awesome service. read more

Great service. Very little waiting. We were a large party and they were able to accommodate us very well. The place was very busy with celebrations of Texas Tech graduation. Our food was very good, Enchiladas of all kind, cheese, meat, chicken. Sauces: enchilada, sour cream or chili con carne. All were very good. Nachos were a good size portion. I have dined here for many years and really enjoyed the food and staff. We recently had a waitress named Jordan more than doubled the tip we left her which was already a fair amount. I spotted this on our credit card. I'm disappointed and mad that you can be taken advantage of like that. I don't know I can trust staff there again to return. read more

We go dine here at least twice a week. It's solid EVERY time. Food is always hot and delicious. The staff makes us feel like family. And it's one of the few restaurants left in lubbock that is affordable. Keep up the great work ! read more

The food was very good. That's what the four stars are for, the food! Our server, bridget, gave us the bearish minimum of service. Our drinks were left unfilled and I finally asked another server for a refill. When we finished our meals, I gathered the plates and set them at the edge of the table. Bridget passed our table multiple times and did not interact with us at all. After roughly 20 minutes I was finally able to get her attention to ask for our checks. My friend and I tip reasonably well and we appreciate good service, however, the only reason I gave her any tip at all was because wait staff only makes $2.25 per hour, not enough to live on and at least she has a job. read more

Excellent Tex-Mex with a diverse customer base. Real corn chips that are served warm (as other reviewers have noted). Salsa could be spicier to make it a true Texas "hot sauce," but you can order their spicier salsa and marry the two. Mixed review. Party of 11. First, there are not any vegetarian options. We called ahead to ask if the beans had lard and were put on hold and hung up on after waiting for the answer. We went to the restaurant and when we were seated, I went to the front to ask. They went to talk to the manager but came back and said they didn't have anything vegetarian and that the beans did have lard. There was not much effort put into giving an option. That was unfortunate. It is tough to have a birthday dinner with a group when there is not anything for one person to eat. Our waiter was good. The food was hot. Folks at our table had enchiladas, fajitas, the tamale plate, a stuffed sopapilla, shrimp tacos. We also got queso and guacamole's appetizers. The guac and queso were not very good. I would give a 3/10. It is rare for thai many people to not eat up queso and the two cups were still more than half full when we were leaving. The chips were good and salsa fine. The enchiladas were good texmex enchiladas. The beef fajitas were good. The tamale plate had so much meat sauce or something over the tamales that it ruined the dish. The sopapilla was not stuffed because it was flat (almost like fry bread). It was good otherwise. The relleno was good. One of the better outside of New Mexico that we have had. This restaurant has delicious food! Everything I've tried has been wonderful. My favorite thing to eat are the enchiladas because they are out of this world! The tortilla chips and hot sauce are both very good. Their chips always come out warm and fresh. I believe that they make their chips there on site. The restaurant is always clean. The only reason I do not give them five stars is because I have never had a friendly waiter or waitress in the years that I've been going there. I have never seen a manager on site either. I've eaten here 3 times and it has been consistently delicious, thus I feel I should up my rating. This seems to be a place families enjoy frequenting. We have been eating here for over 15 years. Eat the same thing each time. We have been blessed to have great servers like Taylor (Burger) and John waiting on us over the years. The past 3 times we have been in there, the quality has been really bad. Each time we have told John but he just says sorry, and gives us a different excuse each time, like new cooks, etc. Doesn't seem to really care. Tonight, chips were really greasy, asked John for better ones, brought out more greasy chips. Stuffed Sopapilla which has always been awesome, was over cooked, not sweet as usual and meat was full of grease. This again was 3rd time we dealt with this, and John never offered to fix our issues. Sadly after all these years we will eat at a different Mexican food restaurant as there is plenty of them here in Lubbock!!!!!! read more

The first time my family came here, it was a Friday night so we expected there to be a wait, which they said 15-20 minute wait. As we sat there, we saw four different group gets sat before us within those 20 minutes. We asked the host about it and she said they would have a table for us in another 15 minutes. We decided to leave. We decided to give them a second chance. My boyfriend and I got there early to get a table for his dad's birthday, but they told us half of the party had to be there before they could move/set up tables. They were not busy so I did not understand why we had to sit and wait when we got there early on purpose. We saw 6-8 employees just hanging out on their phones in front of us as we just waited for two more people to show up, just so they could get the table ready. Everyone in the party finally showed up, then that is when they told us they could finally get our table ready. We literally had to stand up front taking up the whole waiting area just because they were being lazy and didn't want to prepare the table in advance for us. With that being said, once we finally got sat, our server was amazing. She got all the orders right and we never ran out of drink. The food was awesome as well. Almost all of my family has worked in the restaurant industry and the hosts just were not acceptable and we had already heard bad reviews about the hosts, everything else was phenomenal though. read more

First time here, and admittedly alil skeptical based in the previous reviews. Sat down, got drinks and chips and salsa come out. Salsa taste store bought, but with alil salt, I really liked it. Ordered some guac with the chips, and about half way down I noticed a piece of avacado skin, so I know it was fresh, which was nice. I had the shrimp tacos on soft corn tortillas with baracho beans. The tacos were really good. Double soft fried corn tortillas, grilled shrimp, and even diced up jalapenos for that kick. Just like I make em at home. Beans were spot on too, just like grandma made.
