We love uncle Julio's the service is good and the food is the best we go there every week we don't regret it

Ate here for the first time. The fajitas were "boiled" looking and tasting. The manager agreed that the meat was subpar and agreed it was flavorless. We returned the food and still tipped well over 20%. We ordered churros, and when they came the chocolate was hot, scalding HOT, that the oil was separating! It was still bubbling. Super disappointed. Had reservations and was seated fairly quickly. We ordered our food and ONE HOUR later we still didn't have our food. We paid for our beer and left. Not sure what was going on. There were a few large tables, but mainly the restaurant was not full at all! Lots of open tables. It wasn't our waiter's fault. Super frustrated! I'm quite disappointed in Uncle Julio's. The service today sucked . Asked for 4 soft tacos 1 for each person on my table because we weren't very hungry and we end with a taco bar that i was not expecting. We went from a. $12 plate to a $68 taco bar. The Waitress was lost new nothng and made excuses for everything and did not explained what that was thinking I was only getting 4 soft tacos . Then it took almost 1 1/2 hours to get food . Took at least 30 mins to an hour to get a drink. Spoke to manager about it she said she would fix it still forever . Our entire table of women canceled the drinks and left somewhere else. That's ashamed . The manager never came back out to say anything to us explaining why it was taking forever. Aweful experience. First we had a wobbly table so I asked a hostess to bring something to put under a leg to fix it. She brought a napkin and when we thought she would fix it, said "oh you want me to do it?" Getting drinks and food ordered took forever. We arrived at 5:00 and didn't finish eating until 6:45. I ordered the carnitas tacos, which were delicious the first time we came here, and they were not very good. The sauce on them didn't taste like same. We routinely order the family meal (tacos) for takeout. This time, when we got home, we discovered that the platter with lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese was missing. We also observed that the hamburger meat for the tacos was in big chunks and was pink inside. Lastly, the churros were burnt. I called the restaurant and spoke with management. They gave us a full refund. Even though we were disappointed with the experience up to this point, the way they handled the situation turned things around and made us want to try going there again. Just in Lubbock overnight for work and besides a Starbucks coffee and muffin in the morning I hadn't eaten much all day so needless to say I was a bit hungry! I figured TexMex in Texas no brainer! Ambiance was fine service was terrible! Had to ask for more water twice, finally appeared and she proceeded to plop a jar of water on the table and walked away like I asked her to hike up the Swiss Alps to make sure the water was fresh....sorry to interrupt! The margarita was good and it hit the spot! FOOD: mushroom quesadilla to start I don't know If that's a TexMex thing but I love quesadillas and I love mushrooms so win win and they were really good (I should have quit while I was ahead) they used Monterey Jack which paired nicely. Chicken enchiladas was a hard pass even with the tomatillo sauce it just lacked flavor I mean it wasn't terrible but for around $21 dollars aaaaaaaah yeah not sure it's worth it, thankfully it was on the company. This restaurant is an interesting mix of high end food and Tex-Mex and if I'm being honest it's not too successful of a merge, the food isn't quite as cozy as cheap Tex-Mex that populates Lubbock not is as high quality that it melts my face. It's in the in-between and such is reflected as such. The service was mildly subpar, not like bad, just insufficient. Stopped in for a weekend lunch before driving home. The Tres Amigos Margarita was phenomenal maybe the best we've had? My Dos Equis Amber was smooth with caramel notes, and I also was surprised by the smoothness and the tastiness of the Modelo Negra beer. Food wise, you won't be disappointed by the flavoring and large portion of the Carnitas street tacos- I'd recommend holding the grilled jalapeños though. Good service at the bar. read more

The restaurant was almost empty, and the waiter had one other small table that had the same problems as us. In the picture is a couple of our plates we were handed with food still on them. We got the chocolate piñata and in the past it has come with a lot of fruit and chocolate sauce spread out, but there was very little inside the piñata, none of the fruit was spread out on the tray at all. Recommend! We enjoy Uncle Julio's when in Fort Worth, OKC, or other places when we travel, but are glad to have one closer in Lubbock! Use their online reservation service found at their website. (There were two of us on a Friday night at 6pm.) After reading previous reviews my expectation was lowered but once we were seated and promptly served, I was so glad we dined in on a busy Friday night! Fajitas are always recommended especially since their menu is not extensive. The fajitas are top-grade with such tender meat! My husband had the beef and I ordered the chicken. Both were excellent but after my husband reluctantly tried my chicken (which is rare because he is a steak guy), he made the comment, "Wow! Why have I been sleeping on that chicken?" Truly tasty! They said it would be 10-12 more minutes, but it took 30 more minutes, and it was not very good when it finally came out. This was on a delivery order the 1st for me was inedible. 2 weeks almost to the day I reordered adding cilantro rice. They did a lot better on the packaging for delivery by making it where you build it after it gets here. Thank you it worked. The only suggestion left is to ask you to change your base lettuce from leaf lettuce to iceberg. I did not receive my cilantro rice. I've noticed from other reviews that is a common with y'all. On specially busy nights you need a quality assurance person that makes sure everything gets to your customers in the restaurants and food is there and what your delivery customers wanted are fixed and all is there before leaving the store. Uncle Julio's never disappoints. This was my first trip to the Lubbock location. We had steak fajitas for two, a large quacamole, and the habanero bacon wrapped jumbo shrimp. Everything was hot, fresh and delicious. And the salsa is outstanding. Brandon provided excellent service. read more
