Have driven by this place for YEARS. Always been on my list to try and had a free moment recently and decided to stop by. Definitely an uncut gem in the area. Not too many spots with this ambiance and vibe in SoCal anymore. The staff were extremely friendly and the food was great. Pancakes were a little greasy and the hash browns I got that day were a little too crispy, but I felt the pricing was fair, the quality reflected that, and the food was tasty. There is extremely limited space inside and they close quite early but it's such a unique diner experience. Definitely time traveling when you take a step inside. Looking forward to returning and trying more items, the biscuits and gravy looked great.

CASH ONLY! The place is small with only two tables of 4 seats each, bar stools, and outside patio furniture to accommodate more seating. The service was pleasant and since we came on a Monday morning, it was not busy. Tried the eggs Benedict and the French toast. The hollandaise sauce has to be one of the best I've tried. The food arrived fast and the service was attentive. Reason why it's a 4 star is because of the restroom. I understand that the vibe is an old dinners experience but restroom could be updated.

This morning was the first time I visited this restaurant. I took one of my referring sources to have breakfast. It's a small and very nostalgic restaurant. The ambience showcase a diner that you would see in the 1950s and 60s. The pictures on the wall showcase Indy cars and other nostalgic racing automobiles. We ordered our our breakfast and coffee from a very friendly server. Our breakfast entrées were served promptly. I ordered French toast with two eggs and ham, and when it was served, it reminded me of when my mom used to make French toast. They do not smother it with powdered sugar, although our server asked me if I would like a little powdered sugar sprinkled, and the eggs that I asked to be over easy were perfectly cooked, the ham was a bit dry, but overall the breakfast was delicious. My guest ordered the eggs Benedict. And raved about the hollandaise sauce and the potatoes were not your typical hashbrowns. They were actually red potatoes that were sliced thinly and cooked to perfection, lightly fried and golden brown. If you're looking for just a restaurant that only serves breakfast, then this is your place.

My favorite breakfast joint with the sweetest ladies ready to take your order! The food is consistently great no matter who is at the grill. Thank you ladies.

    See them crispy edges? Lol...Motivation.

Only my third time here. Each time has been a delight. The food? Tasty. Giving a home made look as well as taste. Karen served me today and she was theeee perfect host, PERIOD! Made me feel welcomed and taken care of. The 'ole school diner bar and stools puts you in close proximity to everything which ai loved because it put everything ai needed to enjoy my meal within close reach. Other patrons are friendly and it is real easy to strike up a conversation. Ai usually go somewhere more commercial for my pancake cravings but looked Uncle Bud's up on Yelp last night (yes last night. These pancakes were on my mind) and searched the photos to see what their pancakes looked like. And when ai saw the crispy edges? Bingo! Gotta say that ai cheated on my other pancakes spot and may never go back. After having these cakes it would literally make very little sense to. Either case. Great experience. Ai just had pancakes and coffee which is my little personal crave a couple times a month. Ai like the fact they're open pretty early as well. And due to the quality and hospitality. Guess Uncle Bud's got another nephew to make room for at the counter. Gratitude and give thanks for the perfect cravings quencher today. See you soon!

They have good customer service. But they forgot to give me my gravy. It's the only reason that I went there and they forgot my gravy. That's why I'm giving them two stars.

This is Uncle Bud's in Bellflower Julie and Karen we have great customer service

As you can see at the pork chops special, it was delicious, the service was amazing they were on it. I got my food within 10 minutes. Definitely coming back if I was you, I'll give this place a try definitely great people

6/19/23 okay Uncle Bud... I am going to have me some pancakes today! There's one stool availability inside when I walked in and the lady said it'll be 45 minutes for take out.... later she says she'll have the cook make my one order of hot cake NOW--SCORE!! And just like that, in less than five minutes, my cake is ready, and I am out of here. Woo hoo! Thank you SHELBY!!!

What a pleasant surprise! Very friendly breakfast spot when we walked in. They are very very small but quite comfortable and homie. The food is cooked to order and was delicious, excellent seasoning. I loved this place and we will be returning.

Thank you Julie and Karen for such a great ambiance. Been coming here for years the service is always great and upbeat for being 5:30! The food was spectacular and so hot. I hate cold food so this was just amazing. I never have any complaints at this place. All 5 of us got hobo plates, that is the thing to get with the gravy on the side. They were so busy but our food came out in under 7 mins. Please don't pass this place up. Family owned makes you feel like your own family! Thank you guys all the time!

Once we were ready she had our table already prepared. We have to order inside first before you can be seated. Once seated our food came out not too long after. Everything looked and tasted delicious! We ordered the chilaquiles verde, short rib omelette, tropical pancakes (seasonal), and the mango curd french toast (seasonal). The chilaquiles verde was savory and tangy. It wasn't soggy at all and definitely one of my favorite dishes. The short rib omelette was savory but didn't give me any wow factor compared to the other dishes I ordered. The tropical pancakes were so pretty. I only tried a piece of it without the syrup which I think was a mistake because the kumquat syrup was my friend's favorite. I definitely need to try it again with the syrup. Best for last, mango curd French toast was my favorite! I fell in love with sweetness and tanginess of the mango curd. The French toast was soft and you can taste the butter. I wish it was a main menu item. I'll definitely be sad to see it go. They have lots of seating inside and outside.

I was curious about the level of accessibility and clearer directions on where to stand when the line passes the framing of the restaurant. But Great Downey location! Diversity score 1-5: 1.5 As a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the workplace professional, in order to garner financial success of any business is to be intentional about representation in your business. Please contact me for consultation services. Service/Ambiance/Environment: The service is where my issue lies. I did appreciate that as we were waiting in line to enter, we were given menus to assist in deciding what we wanted before we reached the inside. The cashiers were both super nice and even offered a taste of the Rose' slushy which was phenomenal. When ordering at the register, the sweet service was continued and we chose where to sit. It was bright and busy inside and we sat right in front of the expo station. I was truly enjoying the environment and it had me reminiscing of my brunch days in New York City. My guest and I were chatting and enjoying our Mimosa's and then my guests food arrives first. Not that it matters but in service certain things do and the female presenting person SHOULD always receive their food first. That was a surprise to me but I didn't read into as I expected my dish to arrive right behind. It did not. My guest and I continued to chat and sip until 20 mins later, as I'm watching dishes leave the expo station, did I say "where is my food?" The young server at the expo turned and rolled their eyes and then finally gave me my food. This was a buzz kill. I only went down a rabbit hole about it until I noticed I was the only Black person present. First, why would it ever been ok to not have dishes arriving to tables separately without saying "ma'am we're a little behind.." or to my guest "do you mind if we hold your dish a bit so we can make sure the food arrives together?" Being a previous server in high pace restaurants, communication, apologies, and ensuring perfect service is the goal. Poached is not a store front or even a little diner type of place. It's a casual, upbeat, bright breakfast/brunch spot. And yes, on busy days things happen but to not offer a reason, or apology, and giving the customer attitude is unacceptable. Food: The description of the food is well written. The prices are reasonable. I ordered the short rib omelette with whole grain toast and house potatoes. When I Finally received my food it looked great and I was eager to dig in. A first bite of the omelette I was sadly underwhelmed. The seasoning left much to be desired and it seamed to be more of a birria short rib flavor and I thought I chose the dish based on being excited about the combination of meat and cheese (which was barely there). I enjoyed the bread and potatoes more than the omelette. Go again score 1-5: 2 I really think this restaurant and it's operation needs some massaging, the cooks need to be trained, and a REAL chef needs to help improve the quality and taste of the food.

I usually order the Popeye Omelet with home fries and toast. Everything is seasoned well and the ingredients taste fresh. You'll think, wow, I'll probably need a box to-go, but somehow you'll eat it all in one sitting! Sometimes you have to write your name down at the check-in stand out front in order to get a table. But I've never had to wait too long. The servers really pay attention to anything you might need without rushing you or asking lots of questions. So I think that's how they keep the wait time short.
