Small Breakfast spot, not much seating but really homely on the inside. When I went I didn't realize it was cash only, but the staff was kind enough to hold my food while I ran off to an atm really quick and the food was still warm. I got invited up to Uncle Bud's Kitchen in Bellflower to try them out. It's a rad little breakfast joint that's got a great old school feel to it. Plus...it's cash-only, so you know it's gonna be legit!! Here's what I had. This dish comes with a nice big sausage patty, scrambled eggs, fluffy biscuits smothered in country gravy, and Uncle Bud's signature country potatoes. This is a meal in itself and could easily be shared. Pro-tip...put the patty, eggs, and potatoes all together in between the biscuits for a monster breakfast sandwich. Corned Beef Hash is hands-down one of my favorite breakfast foods. So when I saw they added it to eggs Benedict, this was a no brainer. Everything about it was delicious and cooked wonderfully. It was a blissful creamy savory delight and I absolutely loved it. I also added a pancake for good measure. So freaking good!! To sum up, you gotta get up to Uncle Bud's for some bomb, old fashioned, home-style breakfast. Everything about it was awesome; from the food to the excellent service. Customer service is dead during covid, but not here. I got to talkin to the owner's daughter, and the interaction prompted me to come back to revisit. This place is my type of place. I am predisposed to like it. It is small, old, and the definition of a hole-in-the-wall. Because of my predisposition though, I have pretty high standards. I tried a special called The Gay. It is a biscuit topped with jack cheese, gravy and a scrambled egg. Next to it, is a griddled sausage patty that tastes homemade. They call that a Super Sausage. What I should have ordered was a regular eggs plate with a Super Sausage. It would have come with potatoes and two eggs instead of one. And it costs less. Next time... The Gay was good and I ate it all. The biscuits were tasty but could have been hotter. The warm gravy did not add enough heat to the biscuits so the bite was warm gravy plus room temp biscuit instead of all one temperature. The sausage patty had nice heat from chili flakes and black pepper. It was nicely browned on the flat top giving it a hamburger taste on the outside. I could eat two of those. The gravy was legit, by the way. Previous reviewers talk about their skillet specials so when I return I will try that or the Eggs and Super Sausage so that I can taste the potatoes here. read more

Hi, I recently visited this restaurant after having a bad experiencea few years ago. and just wanted to give a point scale review on my experience. Also I would like to share some notes as well. 1 being needs improvement, 10 being excellent Parking:  4.5/10 street parking only and not much of it. Outside appearance: 8.6 /10 building is trying to keep that old school vibe, I don't think they are looking to upgrade and they a better off not. Inside appearance:  7.5/10 old school diner vibe with antique signs all around. Not much seating sp be prepared to wait outside for a bit. Staff service:  8.9/10. As busy as they get the staff is hard working and always friendly. Its best to be patient with them as they are doing a lot at once. Food and restaurant experiance notes: the food is so amazing. Fresh ingredients and amazing flavors. Definitely a home cooked meal style place that delivers. It's so worth the wait I wish they were open longer and served breakfast, lunch and dinner. Squeeze inside, check for openings, write your name, then escort yourself outside for a wait with the other time travelers. You'd be a fool to leave. The menu is plain and simple, a throw back to the good old days, as expected. Pork chop and eggs, lovingly seared quickly as requested on their Smurf sized griddle. Not the most memorable cut, but nothing to sneeze at either. The California Omelette with avocado bacon and cheese was beautifully done. It came with my choice of country fried potatoes, obscenely smothered in cheese and green onion. I should be ashamed, but I was not. And I'd do it again. But if you really want something special, go for this.... The Pancakes. I ordered a side, just to see what the hype is about. These pancakes put others to shame. They are absolutely on my Top 5 Pancakes list. So I say, get it. Light, fluffy, the stuff that dreams are made of, served irreverently slathered with real butter, hot off the griddle. Next time...the Pancake Special is all mine. Portion sizes are quite generous. I was happy to bring my over-indulgences home. There is no such thing as a fryer in this hut. You will find griddle food only. And they do it very well. I am a bit baffled at the low review count considering how many years they have actually been in business. We always pass by this place and they're always packed. Today was the day we finally tried them out. It's a very small breakfast place with 1 server, 1 cook, 2 helpers. Only a few seats, 2 tables outside, 2 tables inside, and the bar area. All 4 tables were taken so we sat inside by the bar area, we got there quarter to 10 am and didn't get our food until 10:45. The lady passed us numerous times before she even greeted us. Btw, they weren't as busy as we thought they would be so I assume service was going to be a little better than what we got. We sat there and waited for quite some time before she took our order, she asked us what we want to drink, she gave us our drinks first and she said she will be back to take our order which took 20-25 mins for her to come back and take our order. I wanted to stand and leave but then she took our order. Anyway let's get to the food, I ordered the gay special and a hot cake. I like the pancake/hotcake the most - it was soft and tasted buttery brings me that southern pancake taste, sausage wasn't bad - it was a little more on the saltier side, the biscuit and gravy was okay -the gravy wasn't so bad, biscuit was A-okay, I prefer my biscuit really soft and warm. I felt like Karen and I knew each other in another life. The place was super chill and small. Karen could possibly be the sweetest waitress I've ever met. She constantly checked in on us and I honestly felt like we were in Aunt Karen's kitchen having breakfast. We ordered keto-friendly omelettes which were good...I think. Docking one star because we sat at the table that was right next door to the bathroom. Wish it was a little further because eating next to the bathroom mentally messed with my meal. I decided to check this place out since I don't live far and boy am I glad I did. It was a table for two. Know let me tell you it's a small diner breakfast joint. Not much room inside, but delicious. It's been established since 1947 and the owner who owns it is the one who actually does all the cooking. Now these are the nicest ppl you'll meet. Hours are open super early 4:30am/5 -11:30am. They have traditional breakfast at reasonable prices. The young surfer looking guy with the curly hair under his cap was super friendly. I came in with my daughter she got the "children special" two bacon, egg, toast & potatoes. She ate majority of it & she loved the potato's. She got OJ and I got black coffee with lumber jack special. Bacon was delicious potatoes were my favorite & I devoured the toast. I'm not a ham person so I left my ham. Seating is tight but YOU MUST come here & try it! Parking is tight, we got street parking in front. They also know their regulars. I'm excited to bring my favorite ppl here too. CASH ONLY. I was lucky I had 30$ cash in my pocket, I wish I could have tipped more but that's all I had. It was my first time here so now I know I have to bring cash. The breakfast here in not good and you get such a tiny portion for what you pay. I ordered the ham and eggs with biscuits and gravy. You only get one tiny pilsbury biscuit and the gravy had no flavor at all. The ham was very chewy and didn't have the same texture as a typical piece of beefsteak ham and the potatoes were flavorless along with the eggs. The breakfast was hot when I picked it up, but after reading all of the postive reviews I went out of my way to get cash back since they don't accept cards here. Her smile and aura is infectious! The first time I came, she asked for my name and when I came back a few days later, she remembered it! Love, love, love that. They have a staff of 3. Karen, a younger guy who's sort of the busser, and then the chef. Looks like a family-run business just doing it for the love of food. I read some reviews on here about slow service. It was still delicious, but next time, I plan to get there early so I can try their hollandaise. The corned beef was really tasty, and the poached egg was cooked perfectly. I've always loved spot growing up. What really keeps me coming back is the way they make their pancakes. It's always cooked perfectly, and I don't even like pancakes like that at all. Just a forewarning, this place is CASH ONLY. FOOD: I always like to get the Early Bird's Special or the Egg Hater's Special. However, I have tried a lot of different menu items. I'm not a big pancake person because I prefer waffles - BUT the way they do it at Uncle Bud's is just perfect. It's that buttery soft pancake that is not too thick with the crispy outer edges. I love brunch, and so many breakfast and brunch spots do too much with pancakes. A lot of times the pancakes are too cakey or have too much batter while smothered in countless unecessary toppings. But here at Uncle Buds, they mastered simplicity in all it's beauty. EARLY BIRD'S SPECIAL: (2 hot cakes, 2 eggs, & choice of 2 bacons or sausages) & EGG HATER SPECIAL (2 hot cakes, hash browns, & choice of 2 bacons or sausages): This is your classic American breakfast. Perfectly cooked pancakes, classic meat breakfast sides, and small scalloped potatoes turned crispy delectable hash browns. If you want a solid "can't go wrong" order choice, I would definitely recommend one of these choices - depending if you prefer eggs over hash browns. LOCATION: Nestled on a main and slightly street, you'd definitely have to find street parking. However, since the business hours are set to opening super early and ending by lunch time, there isn't usually any problem with parking. AMBIANCE: The location is pretty small. They can only hold a few customers at a time. It's diner style, so if you sit in the front counter then you'd be able to see everything the cooks would be cooking which is pretty cool. The decor has antique and historical photos and paintings. As a visual, it's as if you're walking into someone's home, but welcomed by friendly faces. I have always enjoyed the retro and vintage feel. SERVICE: The service has always been great here for many years. I've never felt uncomfortable here at all.
