My friends and I wanted a quick brunch bite so we decided to give this place a try. We came in around 10am on a Wednesday & to our surprise, it was quite busy. The restaurant was pretty full and there were only three staff members. We waited a little before our order was taken and before our food was given to us. We ordered a variety of item from pancakes to sandwiches to omelettes. Every item is made to order so it took a while for it to come out (which I didn't mind at all). They also serve breakfast all day so if you're like me and enjoy breakfast food for lunch and dinner this is the perfect spot for you. Overall, this place was pretty good. I love The Pan. Since its cozy hipster-vibes start in Gardena, they have now expanded to several locations. Menu has always been changing, keeping up with the trends while still offering plenty of delish fusion dishes. This was my first time here at this location having been to Gardena and LB, it was nice clean still giving Hipster. Servers were nice, food was yummy. We came in on a weekend and tried several doff items. I had my target set in their Short Rib Benedict. It was a disgustingly-delicious as the social media posts made it seem. They do have a lunch menu, but if its your first time I would come in for breakfast. The guava pancakes were amaze-balls, french toast was also good. I met up with my teacher bestie for brunch during the weekday. I ordered the chorizo scramble with a side of salsa verde. It was delicious! The portion was huge so plan to share or to take some food with you in a box. The server was super friendly and was attentive. Unfortunately it seemed as though they were a little understaffed so the drink and food order did take a while to arrive at our table. We didn't anywhere to go later so we didn't mind but for folks that need to be somewhere it wasn't ideal. There are plenty of tables and it's very spacious. We were out in area on business and stopped in here for breakfast. First thing we noticed was parking is a problem. Other than that we got in and place is decorated very nice. We got chilaquiles, biscuits and gravy, cinnamon pancakes. The salsa on chilaquiles was great flavor not spicy. Chips were nice and beans were good too. The biscuits my son said they were fire! lol. Great place to have breakfast/brunch with family or friends. It's very spacious with lots of seating and loud music so you can really get into the chisme and food. The workers were nice and attentive and I was surprised it wasn't hectic on a Sunday. I really enjoyed the chilaquiles and pancakes the most. The matcha was pretty good too, we had the strawberry matcha latte and a matcha latte. The potatoes were not my favorite a little salty and I like my breakfast potatoes more simple without the adds on will try to ask they remove the other things next time. Service.. what service ‍ Got sat down quick then no one came til about 10 minutes later. Ordered our food & two drinks. They give you 1 napkin 1 fork & knife per person. Food was bland & had no flavor. Went on 1/10/26 around 1pm ordered The Southern: 2 buttermilk biscuits w/county gravy. Looked like 1 scrambled egg, potatoes, 1 sausage 1 bacon strip. No country gravy on biscuits & they were room temp, scrambled egg and potatoes were not hot. Only thing that was hot was the 1 sausage. Bacon was ehh. HORRIBLE SERVICE! Ok so I've been to this location once b4 when they 1st opened but today was terrible I don't think I've ever had such bad service from all the locations they have they took our order and it took them 45 min to bring the food and only brought out half the order it took them a extra 10 min to bring out the rest of the order and good it wrong . We asked for salsa and the waitress forgot so I had to get up and go get some myself to the kitchen by then my food was cold and soggy the food was also cooked different from the other locations . This location is terrible from service to quality of food definitely won't ever be coming bask. I complained to our waitress and she apologized and said that they had a a big catering order. That was the reason that they were so backed up maybe they shouldn't do catering if they can't take care of the customers they have in front of them. My sausage was probably cooked earlier this AM and sat in a pan until I ordered. I ordered eggs over medium which I know is always a crap shoot. I don't like them runny or over hard- hard yellow yolk on top. I got over hard. The French toast was good even if I wasn't warm. The cafe latte was excellent. Service was sub par. No one offered me water or check if I needed anything else. A smile on a Sunday would have helped. Anyway after I was done the waiter decided to ask how's everything. Too late. I've tried the shrimp n grits before and they're just as good as other location. I prefer this location as it's smaller and quieter, more cozy. This time had a kielbasa scramble. It was good, but potatoes did need a bit more seasoning, nothing a bit of extra salt & pepper couldn't fix. Also added guava pancake instead of toast and although the guava sauce is definitely sweet, overall it balances well with the pancake making it perfect combination of flavors (since pancake isn't sweet). Showed up and immediately got a bad impression from the table setup. We were seated at what had to be the smallest table possibly made for two people.I've been to two other The Pan locations, and this location on Tweedy Blvd. by far takes the award for the worst of them all. The only reason I came today was because my better half wanted to try it, and after having no luck talking her out of it, we gave it a shot.She ordered the chicken and waffles, and I ordered the barbacoa plate. First off, the serving sizes are a joke. It honestly looks like they're trying to stretch every single penny. The chicken was basically a breast sliced extremely thin, and the barbacoa portion wasn't any better it looked like they served it in a small dressing bowl.To top it all off, the food was way too salty. I felt like I walked out of there with high blood pressure. Small portions, overly salty food, uncomfortable seating,overpriced food, and absolutely no type of customer service. Hands down, the worst The Pan location I've been to and one of the worst places I've sat down to eat at. Definitely won't be coming back and I hope you won't either. The nachos were wet and soggy at the bottom, and while the lemon pepper chicken tenders were good, the mozzarella sticks were a major disappointment. The first batch was so undercooked that the cheese inside was still hard. After bringing it to the staff's attention, I requested a discount but was only offered a replacement. Unfortunately, the second batch was overcooked, with one mozzarella stick burnt enough that the cheese had turned dark. INITIAL VISIT: Unlike some who come here for the first time and have a first time experience at The Pan, my tastebuds have been trained in Long Beach and the never forgotten always missed, Pasadena location. Yes, I am a self professed repeat offender no matter where they put one of these restaurants. THE GHOST OF BREAKFASTS PAST: I have reviewed the Pasadena location after eating there and enjoying the food tremendously. I loved that not everyone knew about the small extention of the restaurant that was just down the street. My fiancée and I would go there and purposely bring food home for ourselves and family, I can't see this new location giving birth to anything less. In fact, the drive from our home to Pasadena was quite the decision to make right after waking up, so we would plan it the day before. We were quick to realize that if you went early enough, on Sunday mornings, you were set for a delightful breakfast and a parking lot, at times, on the southbound 710, as you tried to get home before the next meal hour. The line was never not out the door and down the street. The bartender in that little annex, was a wonderful woman that we interacted with on more than one occasion. We liked thatbshe rememembered us and made us feel like we were part of a secret family at The Pan. I believe my fiancée remembers her name, me? I was too stupid to commit her name to memory, otherwise it would already be listed here. THE GHOST OF BREAKFASTS FUTURE: I was deployed for many months and when I returned I learned of the Pasadena location shuttering their doors. I am not sure what happened, but it couldn't have been due to the lack of patronage... the lines were literally, "down the block." I was bummed out because we like lazily strolling and shopping in Pasadena. Eventually, I discovered the Long Beach location but the surrounding area wasn't... umm... it just wasn't Pasadena. Still, we went... just not as often. THE GHOST OF BREAKFASTS PRESENT: So, how did I even learn of this location? I just returned from an 8 month deployment and I was driving around (3.4.25) when I spotted a sign for The Pan on Del Amo Blvd. I wasn't sure where I was due to strictly following the GPS and having a lot on my mind. Then one day, about 2 weeks later, out of nowhere, while walking around in Costco, comes the memory of having spotted that sign and suddenly I needed Guava (my 2nd favorite fruit) Cream Pancakes and Passion Fruit (my favorite fruit) Lemonade. I looked up the Pan to see where there were and it said Southgate.. I was like... Whaaaa??!?!? I Googled and double and triple checked to make sure it was the same place. I immediately called my fiancée. All she said was "Shut up!" Or maybe it was just a "Whaaaaaat?!?!" We were both excited. Now we have our Pasadena experience back without the traffic... this place is a mere 12 minutes, or so out our door. The Guava Cream Pancakes and the Home Style Potatoes are still amazing... The South Gate location of The Pan is a great addition to the chain. I arrived Saturday a little past 9am and was able to get a table for 2. By 10am this place was completely full! The seating area is fairly small, full of conversation from the other tables, and the decorations are solid, on brand with the decorations at other The Pan restaurants. The service was great - our server was very attentive to our water and coffee, and our food was great! I had the French toast with scrambled eggs and bacon, and I can say this definitely satisfied my cravings. A nauseatingly pleasant little place. All pastel Easter Egg colored and nice useless sayings adorn the walls. Food is kinda pricey for the area. Apparently I am the only patron drinking coffee? I used to go to The Pan in Gardena but did not go often because of the distance. When planning a girls birthday brunch, I found out they had opened several new locations. We decided to try the South Gate which is a lot closer. It wasn't busy. Had nice music & it wasn't too loud. The service was good. Very attentive staff. My favorite is their loaded potatoes & OMG! I was not disappointed. Hash browns with bacon, sausage, onions, cheese, 2 eggs, & their delicious chili aioli sauce. My mouth is watering as I type this . Their pancakes are also delicious. Me and my family were sitting for 15 waiting to get served and I saw other families being seated and served before us. Other than that I don't mind tipping but the tip being 20% is kinda crazy to me. Me and my family split the meal and payed separately and since there were 6 of us we were charged at automatic tip of 20 dollars.
