Today I tried a new place the Pancake Corner, unfortunately it wasn't to my standards of a good plate of Biscuits and gravy and potatoes, I'm sorry I've never had biscuits and gravy with cut up biscuit slices and bacon on top. It was disappointing to see that the order we purchased was more than what was listed on the menu. So they had a price listed, we ordered our food. A friend said she and her family always go here and I was in the area. The place is small, with seating outside in the parking lot basically (covered). Service was very friendly and menu had a lot of variety. Food was fine. It was in comparison to a Denny's I would say. Coffee was good. Not sure if it's because we sat outside but plastic wear was given to us for utensils. On our way out we noticed it had a B rating. Wondering why. So i woke up and i decided i was craving some pancakes and didnt want to go to the typical fast food and gave the Resturant a shot. I went there with my with my brother tagged him along. I then asked for pancakes and egg and a horchata. As i got my order the drink tasted so sour and soapy it was so nasty i spit it right back. Along with that the egg was raw i asked for a sunny side up but not even the white outline was cooked properly so i didnt eat it neither it was like they cracked it and just served it to me. I wasnt able to eat and left the place i was charged 39$ for two plates of eggs and pancakes and two drinks. Not coming here again. I came here for thanksgiving, it is a small restaurant but we were able to be seated fairly quickly. Servers were very nice so they get a 5 stars. There was no music so it was easy for us to speak to one another. There is a small parking area but we found parking in the street with no problem. Now the food, I ordered the red chilaquiles and I regret it. Homemade is way better. These taste like if they poured a can of Pace salsa as the sauce. No way will I ever order these again. It came with beans and rice and the rice was cold and very dry, I left it all, couldn't eat it. The plate was like $15. read more

Food here is good. If I recall. It's difficult to mess up breakfast foods but they did a good job with continously filling up water and coffee and bringing out my eggs the way I like it (super softly scrambled, which many many restaurants cannot comprehend). My biggest complaint about the restaurant isn't the service nor the food, all that is decent... It's the cleanliness. It's filthy. This our first time at the Pancake Corner it's a small cafe but it have history on its walls. After we finish shopping at Azalea shopping center one of my friend of mine told there's a hole in a wall cafe it's small and it just a block away from Azalea shopping center. When we enter to the restaurant we were greeted by waitress and have a seat and we did. We look at the menu and we were the impress the food. I was surprise they serve Menudo and I order a large bowel and my wife order a chorizo with rice and beans and she order the Hawaiian pancakes. The waitress brought us our food it look so good including my bowel of Menudo. The meat was cook so tender while cooking slow that old fashion cooking. When I add the lemon,onion,oregano it was so good it bring back old memories like home cook Menudo. My wife enjoy her chorizo with egg comes with rice and beans she loves chorizo and egg. About 3pm, Double charged my credit card. $70 order turned into $70 + $70 tip = $140. Mgr cancelled the $140 charge, and charged for $70. Then at 5pm, recharged for $140 using the credit card number. Credit Card company has been notified. I understood the "scam her" words the "thick fake eyelashes" Spanish speaking employees were saying! Pancakes salt was very high. Large Red cups used were the good, but I could have bought plenty cups for the $70 they cheated the handicapped folks with me, and I out of my credit card! Thief's to the max! But what really upsets me is when you ask if everything is in the bag for a pick up order and they assure that it is and very insistent that it is and you get home from driving from Montebello to south gate and back and there's no syrup for the pancakes irritates me. The pancakes is the one of the main reasons why I go out of my way here because they're really delicious. This isn't the first time this happens either. We always passed this restaurant and wanted to try it so we decided to order take out with them. But if I could give 0 stars I would they got my whole order wrong and when I called them to inform them on the multiple mistakes they made the young girl tried to blame me instead or compensating or apologizing. We literally couldn't even get a simple "sorry" it always looks packed when you drive by it but PLEASE DO NOT BE FOOLED LIKE US. They don't take mess nor do they look for it. They take pride in their home. Be respectful. They aim to please and they have plenty of regulars that keep the doors open. FOOD They offer primarily 3 types of dishes - Mexican, American diner style breakfasts, and Southern country style. I have ordered dishes in all 3 styles and never been disappointed! Favorites include: menudo, biscuits & gravy (made to order- they'll do when a craving strikes), corn beef hash with eggs & toast, any omelette, meatloaf, enchiladas, french toast. It is hard to go wrong here. Plus the salsa is sooo good with fried eggs! I'm sure my sister and I have eaten through 1/2 the menu and enjoyed every bite. They are attentive with coffee & water.
