I finally had the opportunity to try Uncle Bud's with a friend of mine who frequents this place! He had, Corn-beef hash Benedict and upgraded the potatoes to country potatoes. I had, the hobo: cottage fries mixed with bell peppers, onions, jack and cheddar cheese, with two eggs. I chose sausage as my side. We split the most delicious pancake I have ever had in my life. I am still questioning how that immaculate masterpiece was created. Just wow. The place itself is small. Think counter seating with only 2 dining tables off to the side which seats 4 but crowded. If you love each other, or like each other enough, you'll make it work. Our server was so pleasant. This restaurant is quant, warm, cozy, welcoming, and will create a disaster of a wait if you're not there early enough. I guarantee you the food is worth the wait though! Have driven by this place for YEARS. Always been on my list to try and had a free moment recently and decided to stop by. Definitely an uncut gem in the area. Not too many spots with this ambiance and vibe in SoCal anymore. The staff were extremely friendly and the food was great. Pancakes were a little greasy and the hash browns I got that day were a little too crispy, but I felt the pricing was fair, the quality reflected that, and the food was tasty. There is extremely limited space inside and they close quite early but it's such a unique diner experience. Definitely time traveling when you take a step inside. This morning was the first time I visited this restaurant. I took one of my referring sources to have breakfast. It's a small and very nostalgic restaurant. The ambience showcase a diner that you would see in the 1950s and 60s. The pictures on the wall showcase Indy cars and other nostalgic racing automobiles. We ordered our our breakfast and coffee from a very friendly server. Our breakfast entrées were served promptly. I ordered French toast with two eggs and ham, and when it was served, it reminded me of when my mom used to make French toast. They do not smother it with powdered sugar, although our server asked me if I would like a little powdered sugar sprinkled, and the eggs that I asked to be over easy were perfectly cooked, the ham was a bit dry, but overall the breakfast was delicious. My guest ordered the eggs Benedict. And raved about the hollandaise sauce and the potatoes were not your typical hashbrowns. They were actually red potatoes that were sliced thinly and cooked to perfection, lightly fried and golden brown. Very unprofessional!! Walked in, made eye contact with the server since it was full with unlimited seating. Don't know if there was a checked in list but the server did not say anything. There was a group ahead of us so we know we were next in line. Then a couple walked in and walked out knowing we were waiting also. Only my third time here. Each time has been a delight. The food? Tasty. Giving a home made look as well as taste. Karen served me today and she was theeee perfect host, PERIOD! Made me feel welcomed and taken care of. The 'ole school diner bar and stools puts you in close proximity to everything which ai loved because it put everything ai needed to enjoy my meal within close reach. Other patrons are friendly and it is real easy to strike up a conversation. Ai usually go somewhere more commercial for my pancake cravings but looked Uncle Bud's up on Yelp last night (yes last night. These pancakes were on my mind) and searched the photos to see what their pancakes looked like. And when ai saw the crispy edges? Bingo! Gotta say that ai cheated on my other pancakes spot and may never go back. After having these cakes it would literally make very little sense to. Either case. Great experience. Ai just had pancakes and coffee which is my little personal crave a couple times a month. Ai like the fact they're open pretty early as well. And due to the quality and hospitality. The layout and design of this place fits the perfect definition of a hole in the wall. It's a tiny traditional diner squeezed into an area the size of a average living room. The cook this morning was still being trained, but I thought she did a decent job for being new. I enjoy the pancakes, even though there might be too much butter on the griddle. The vegetable scramble came in a very small portion. The waitress was super nice, and she carried on an easy conversation with all the clients. Seating was tight at the counter, but you do get to share some interesting conversations. Be sure to check out the bathroom. It's as small and as rustic as a typical porta potty. My review may not be useful because it's really not so much on the food but the experience itself The place is tiny with two tables inside and about 10 barstools and 3 outdoor tables, homey atmosphere with extremely busy people! There was plenty of street parking The patrons seemed to be regulars was the impression I had. I think the breakfast potatoes was the best thing as they were delicious! I got a hot buttered biscuit and was shocked that it really was hot with butter melted inside. So good! Also, the pancakes had hot melted butter on top as well. Very tasty. Mom and pop breakfast diner at its finest. Karen is amazing, very friendly and her service was top tier. You can tell she takes pride in the food and service she provides to the customers. As soon as you drive up and see the location, it brings warm memories of your mom's or grandmas home cooked food to fill your belly. Inside there are bar stools and nice booths to sit closely together with family and friends. This place will be my go to for kin folk and the prices are reasonable food is fantastic and is cooked from the heart. The outdoor seating does not belong to them, however plenty of folks order and eat there. Appears to be family owned. The one cook is working her (__.__) off!!! My wife and daughter loved their pancakes and omelette. I had the Hash Pile omelette, it's stuffed with corned beef hash, Jack and cheddar cheese, and topped with country gravy. Bar seating and two tables so it's a wee bit cramped. Parking scarce. Street only and (unsure if you're allowed to or not) but I park in the park parking lot right next door. Park park park. Service is great. I can't for the life of me remember any names because... trauma... but they are all very sweet and good lord they got aaaaaall the pep in their step. My cottage fries weren't extra crispy, but they were delicious anyways. 3.75/5 Overall, this was a good spot to eat at. It looked like it was getting really busy as we were eating. This place is really small. Too many tables for what fits inside and no waiters. The only waiter is one lady who happens to be very nice and sweet. The place does get packed so expect a VERY long wait. Even after we got our table we still waited a very long time for our food... yikes! After that, the food also took a really long time. There was only 1 cook during this time who kept going outside to check on his dog which he left in the car. We ended up leaving due to the wait for the food. Food was good. It had the homemade quality and vibe. I had the biscuits and gravy. My child ordered a kids pancake that was a bit still doughy. Service was okay. It should be a crime to have seating next to the bathroom. Seems like a very old place they don't bother to clean their windows. My "clean fork" still had food particles. My friend had to use the restroom and said it was filthy. Maybe my experience would have been different if the outdoor seating was available and no one entered restroom.
