Uncle buds is not like it used to be. I went in.a couple weeks ago with my baby in a stroller. I asked the young lady if I can sit outside, she said no. We are not serving outside right now. Her seeing how I was struggling with the stroller to go inside. I'm sure it was cause it was close to closing time. Uncle Bud's has some of the best breakfast in the area. But I think some logistical issues hold them back a bit. I've been a handful of times. The first time I went, I got the $11.50 Breakfast Pizza Muffs. These are English muffins with gravy, bacon, sausage, ham, cheese and egg, with hash browns on the side. This dish was enormous and very filling. It tasted great. The cheese was properly melted, the meat cooked to my liking, the gravy a little bit salty. And the hash browns are your usual fare -- crispy, salty. I've also gotten the $9.50 early bird special - pancakes, eggs and bacon. The bacon and eggs I already knew were good, but the pancakes are on another level. Honestly I think they're the best I've had. They're sweet, soft, buttery, everything you could possibly want. Now why 4 stars? Well for one, Yelp has them open until 11:45, and I think it might be printed on their building too if I remember correctly, but they have a hard close at 11:30. I am a full-time student and also work full time, so I can rarely actually make it when they're open, even though I live only 10 minutes away. On Sunday, I tried coming right after a gig, arrived around 11:05. I was told they were already closed as their wait was too long. It was hard not to be really disappointed by this, as it was nearly 30 mins before they're supposed to close and I was looking forward to this meal all week. I wasn't given the option to order anything to go, either. I'm not sure they could have done anything about this situation, but I must say, it does not make me eager to try going back during the next rare window of free time I will have to make it. I've always been drawn to this restaurant. The Business has been here since 1946 used to be a snack shack/barbershop. The 50s good old uncle Bud changed it into a breakfast restaurant . The inside seats probably 17 or 20 max .They also have three picnic tables outside. The decor is old but the vibe is good let's face it that's what it's all about. I loved my food ! Was hoping for a nice, big diner style breakfast but we got burnt cottage potatoes and sausages instead. Waited about 20 minutes for seating even though there were plenty of open seats - seems like they are very understaffed. Was warned that they probably didn't have any more biscuits and gravy by our waitress when we ordered so we must've gotten the very last bit of it. I found a great place for breakfast! No, don't go telling anyone about this. It was already packed inside when I arrived. It seemed like a "locals" only kind of place. If you think you can bring 3-4 people you may have to wait. Lots of great looking food when I walked in. Pancakes, omelettes, hash browns, eggs, bacon. Every plate was filled. Taking a look at the menu, I picked the breakfast meatloaf. Not today I was told. I picked another favorite, corned beef hash! Coffee was ordered and served. After a short wait I was brought a piping hot masterpiece! Everything about it was great. The hash was crispy on the outside and firm on the inside (perfect!), eggs over easy (perfect!), hash browns- same as the hash, but with a little softer (perfect!). I asked for their biscuits and gravy (perfect and tasty with the gravy on the side). Everyone seemed to be concentrating on eating their food and I can see why. Hats off to the two ladies working. This has to be one of the best meals I've had in awhile. Very, very happy with the food and service. It's cash only. Parking may be slim pickings, but I'll walk a block to eat here. Not too many tables and the counter will seat about 10 (I think). If I didn't have a meeting I would have ordered again (and I was full)! Again, don't be blowing this spot up!!! Uncle Bud's Kitchen Restaurant is classic! It belongs on a lonely highway where truck drivers would stop to eat. Why? One of the best breakfast joints in all the 562. Honestly I don't know why I took this long to come here. I'm slapping myself for not going sooner. This gem in bellflower has withstood the test of times. And it's only walking distance from me. The pancakes are the fluffiest and buttery and so delicious. And the service is impeccable. Food Review: I got the breakfast burrito and it's by far one of the best breakfast burritos in the surround area without having to drive to Long Beach!! It was super filling and definitely worth every penny!! It tasted like it was made with love! On-the-other-hand, the pancake was subpar...super interesting texture and it wasn't for me. It's thick and doughey and it kinda just melted in my mouth with light chewing too much. This is one of the best breakfast places to eat in Bellflower by far. Let me explain why. Let me start off with the service. This restaurant has the best service of any restaurant I've been to ever. The staff makes me feel welcome every time I come here and it's just phenomenal in every way. The food is great all the time! You should definitely try (at least one of) their pancakes, they're really delicious. The super sausage omelette is pretty good too. Recently I've tried the breakfast pizza muffs and they were great! In my opinion I didn't really care for the french toast too much but everything else is really good. This is a more of a traditional classic restaurant and its appearance is way different from other places. And I should throw this out there: they only accept cash so make sure you have some on you. Overall, great place to come to; one of my favorites. If you happen to live in the area or you're passing by there, I would highly recommend checking this place out sometime. The service here is terrible. If you call to place a take out order they will ask you to hold then lay down the phone and never come back. There are multiple reviews here of this happening so it is no accident. The Management allows this to continue. This is extremely rude and disrespectful. I had seen photos of tasty looking breakfasts from this place and heard rave reviews, so I finally stopped by one morning and I gotta say, it's over-hyped. In the window they advertise "world famous" biscuits and gravy but I'd say their take on that dish was quite bland. I'm not sure how you manage to make a sausage gravy flavorless, but they pulled it off. My eggs were decent, the potatoes were oily and under-cooked. The bacon was borderline burnt, but at least it was crispy. Coffee had decent flavor but was a little on the weak side for my taste. Service was very friendly and attentive for sure, Karen is a very sweet lady. Prices are hard to beat--very cheap especially in today's hyper-inflated economy. But for my money I'd rather drive the extra few minutes to Pop's Cafe in Downey. Much more flavorful food makes the extra drive/higher price very much worth it in my opinion. So that's my recommendation to you, fellow Yelper--skip Uncle Bud's, and head to Pop's Cafe instead. read more

Great place! Don't know why I never came here before. Much smaller than I expected, with 2 tables inside and a counter. Luckily they have 3 extra tables outside due to COVID. The waitress was really nice. Service was good. Everything tasted great. My wife had the French toast and it was delicious. I had the Hobo, with all the good stuff in it. Comes with salsa and gravy and I got biscuits and gravy on the side. They make the gravy there every day and it was literally the best gravy I've ever had! Trying the pancakes next time. I felt nauseous after eating here, that is not the last impression I should get from a place. I'll keep this short because I've already spent enough time and money on this place. I have been going to UB since 2012 and I had friends come with me each time. Today is the last day I ever go to Uncle Buds. I got the early bird, the pancakes were dry, if anyone knows they are known to have great pancakes. I asked for extra butter and the server was annoyed, maybe because I interrupted her from texting. She simply replied " the pancakes already come with butter, if you want more it'll cost extra". They gave me a ramekin with an oil and floating solidified fat that was "butter" which I saw the cook pour out of a plastic pitcher(Hmm, questionable). I poured it all over my sandpaper textured pancakes, and when I took a bite the pancake left a chalky texture in my mouth, along with an aftertaste of stale oil. It was not even close to tasting like butter. It probably stale because they leave the oil-margarine mixture in the pitcher for days. The place used to have charm but now it looks like the kitchen in Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Eggs cracked on the floor for who know how long. And I saw the cook mixed pancake batter in a pitcher also setting it on the floor while mixing (I had to look away, I was shocked) then, it's placed back on the table where other things are cooked! Why is there no space to cook? And looks like they keep their eggs cooled by ice that they keep in the broken freezer. I'm disappointed, disgusted and regret eating here this morning. Uncle Bud is my buddy! This lil mom and pop shop always hits the spot during breakfast. I always go for the hash pile omelet thanks to the corn beef hash stuffed omelet and a side of potatoes. The food is definitely heavy but the love and care is definitely there. They're only open in the wee hours of the morning so it's tricky finding the time to swing by but everything is always good. The pancakes are also amazingly crispy and fluffy on the inside! I wish I could eat more of them but I can only really eat a few bites at a time so it is always nice to share.
