Best sandwich of my life! This made my whole trip to Seattle worthwhile. The Caribbean roast is definitely a must try. The pork shoulder is perfectly marinated and slow roasted. The meat was so tender and juicy. The bread to filling ratio was just perfect. The sauce and caramelized onions also complimented the sandwich perfectly. This is a nicer location of un bien for sitting and dining in. The other one seems more targeted for take out, while this location has a sheltered structure, outside tables for eating at, and plenty of space to enjoy meals. There's enough napkin dispensers at each long table row, which comes in handy when trying to eat their sandwiches, while they're dripping. It also helps that this location actually has a pretty decent bathroom because I always feel like I still want to wash my hands with soap after my meals here. The service is fast, even on nice summer days. There's also a self serve water station. I always get the smokin thighs sandwich, which is super tasty and cooked to the perfect texture, but also very drippy and messy. I'm an onion (especially caramelized) addict, so I can never have too many onions. I'm also big on sauce, so this sandwich fits my standards - maybe a little too much (drippy) sauce, though. If you get any of the pork ones, watch out for bone shards because we've found a couple some times. That's why they're not 5 stars because I still have to cautiously bite and chew the meat to make sure there's no bone fragments in my food. read more

We stopped here after seeing the sea lions at Ray's boathouse. I got the Press while my friend got the Tofu Delight. Both of us loved our sandwiches. The combination of the sauce and banana peppers complimented each other really well and gave the sandwich a lot of flavor. Okay WOW! I absolutely DEVOURED this sandwich in like minutes. It was probably one of the best, maybe even THE best sandwiches I've ever had. The bread was soo good - soft and fluffy on the inside but still crispy on the outside and able to hold up all the great fillings. In my opinion, @unbien is the OG Cuban/Caribbean food and sandwiches in #Seattle . It is a #localbusiness #smallbusiness owned and run by the Lorenzo Family. After leaving Paseo, the opened up a brand new location in #Ballard on the way to #GoldenGardens . I know many people still think Paseo tastes the same with the new owners but in my opinion, @unbien will always remain supreme! Not only are the flavors stronger and they keep flavors on juicier, the staff is always friendly and makes sure all of the food being made is consistently delicious. You can really tell that the people working there love their job and enjoy seeing the smiles and wide eyed reactions to their food masterpieces. * Whenever I head to Golden Gardens for some time by the ocean, I always stop by @unbien. Of course they are known for their Caribbean Roast but I also love their Shrimp and Scallop sandwiches as well. The bread is on a long baguette that is toasted and then topped with their secret sauces and garlic, romaine lettuce, grilled onions, jalapeños, and the seafood. They cut it in half, double wrap it, and give you plenty of napkins (if you don't know, they're messy in a good way). After paddle-boarding for a couple of hours out in Ballard we decided to try Un Bien (love peseo so our bet was that we would love Un Bien as well). Ordered #1 the Caribbean Roast. The pork was very soft and moist (shredded pork was not chucks of pork shoulder) and the grilled onions / peppers were amazing - drenched in their special sauce. The sandwich is messy and greasy that is for sure but it's booming with flavor. One of the best sandwich spots in town. Overall I would give the food 5 stars - the outdoor seating was awesome too on a warm summer day. The service is what dropped my rating a bit. We ordered a soft drink and was not given one upon order / payment. When we came back to pick up our sandwich (when they called our number) - the cashier gave us the wrong sandwich and also did not give us our soft drink. We had to ask for it and they had to go through other customer orders / bags to find our sandwich. Other customers in line also had to personally remind the cashier that they had ordered a soft drink as well. I would recommend handing out soft drinks at the time of order / payment next time if it's not already a standard practice. But outside of the soda / order hiccup - I would come back for another sandwich. read more

Ok this is the original Paseo flavor that is missing in the current so named restaurants. What I can say is they still use the Macrina Bakery rolls and the sandwiches have that something that has been missing since the original Paseo reopened under new ownership. Review in the Time of Covid: Easy weekday lunch time pickup if you're on your way to Golden Gardens. Employee's were masked and there was a plastic separator between you and the cashier. Touchless pay option was a nice feature as well. I was on my way to enjoy a midday bike ride to Golden Gardens when I decided I needed to get some lunch. Good thing Un Bien was there. I was just getting off my bike when I heard the person at the counter saying "Hi." There was no line, and an easily accessible single person restroom to use after making my order. My sandwich (a standard drippy pork kind of deal) was delicious, and ready for me by the time I exited the restroom. I threw my sandwich in my bike basket and ate the dripping wonder (with plenty of paper napkins) while looking at the water, enjoying the last bits of summer on Puget Sound. At the previous establishment in Fremont, we usually order the Sautéed Prawns sandwich, and that's what we ordered today. We weren't starving, so we shared it. The sandwiches are pretty huge and you substitute the baguette for a tortilla, but we're OG, and we're going to keep it true to its roots. Each sandwich comes on a "lightly toasted baguette slathered with aioli, fresh cilantro, pickled jalapeños, crisp romaine lettuce and caramelized onions". It's the perfect combination of a savory sandwich with the perfectly sautéed prawns (it's never over cooked). Make sure you stock up on napkins and wet naps, this sandwich is messy! I love that the salad is a simple salad with very fresh ingredients- you can tell this lettuce is fresh and just washed and the cabbage was just cut up. The press- a must. It's big enough to share (we each inhaled our half) melted cheese, melt in your mouth pork and the caramelized onion. Sea food in red sauce- i got prawns- i looove spicy but my boyfriend can't handle it so we got a 3- he enjoyed it- i like it spicyyy but it was prefect to share! The sandwiches are half the size they once were and the flavor was lacking (Caribbean roast). Where the onions and jalapeños were once supreme, I wouldn't even consider them worthy of eating any that fell out of the sandwich. I guess it's a good thing the sandwich was so underpacked that this wasn't an issue. Ordered four sandwiches, each of which suffered from the same issues so definitely not a one off. Ok so how I got there is a bit unusual. I was running in the morning with dog (Bear). As we are running by Bear does a full stop and side track to Un Bien. He has not done that before.
