They have the Shiba Inu edition that I've been looking for. These were sold out on Tamiya site and I was really glad I was able to find it at this store. Edgar is very knowledgeable and was very nice. He was very patient and explained the evolution of mini 4wd throughout these years, the basics , races and information about the mini 4wd community in SoCal in general. Not only do they have staff that has been around for years in the industry, but they were really friendly and helpful. Terrible customer service, walked in trying to revive an older R\C helicopter. Gentleman that helped me offered no real help but just statements and questions to show how much I really don't know about the hobby. Seemed like a very arrogant person. As a beginner in the sport, I expect a hobby shop to be able to share some knowledge to someone who is just starting. Unfortunately, it seemed like they didn't have time for that. Purchased a $300 ARRMA RC car for my son's bday and it lasted about 30 secs. Brought it back into the store to let them check it out and they said the battery is bad but couldn't do anything for me. Don't recommend buying anything from the store directly buy everything online save your self the pain. They can't help you at the store with any issues anyways. read more

From the really nice kid that greeted me at the front door to the manager that literately allowed his staff to research and investigate my situation. I am new to the world of RC. My wife got me a Traxxas Nitro Slash few years back. One day car didn't turn over, I put it aside and figured it get it going. It's been over a year and been to multiple hobby stores seeking parts and or help which just turned into staff for some reason picking fun at the "noob". Well, it's been over a year or maybe 2 now and found Ultimate Hobby. The staff was incredibly helpful and nice! The customer service at the store is deplorable only two sales agents working the manager sitting behind the cash register reading a magazine instead of helping customers I waiting my turn and after the sales agent walked his customer to the register to pay and leave I stood there waiting patient for the sales guy to walk up to me because I was next! Then another man walked up out of nowhere and started asking him questions instead of telling that customer, "I'm gonna help the next person in line I'll be with you in a minute" he blows me off and goes and helps that guy‍ are you freaking kidding me that was the rudest thing ever! I worked at Hobby shack in Lakewood and I've never treated a customer like that! If it wasn't for the customers I wouldn't have a job whoever owns this place needs to reevaluate his sales staff and train them correctly on how to help customers and not be disrespectful recommendation for the store I recommend you for that little skinny blonde kid first of all then you fire the big fat guy sitting behind the register doing absolutely nothing to help anyone and then train your new employees on how to treat customers correctly! Customer service is very questionable. I've had these guys help with cars several times and they usually figure out the problem. However, when it comes to purchasing products then problems with those products come up immediately they don't take any responsibility. They just refer to other businesses and tell you it's your problem now. I've been coming here for years and it's time I take my business elsewhere. read more

I have been here a few times, and different experiences. The enjoyable visits are the ones that the young staff are super helpful and do what they can to help. I had a two staffers volunteering to help me find what I needed. With anything I think it comes down to having a staff member that is happy to help. If you don't love all things hobbies don't work at a hobby store. Regardless they always have what I need! Even a super oddball but for inside a shock shaft or pinion to a RC8. read more

I wanted to present a quick review. I went into the shop today with a problem regarding my Traxxas Slash RC truck. I was greeted promptly by the gentleman behind the repair station. As soon as he was finished, he came out from behind the repair area and helped me with my truck. At hone, I wasted a lot of time trying to get my truck to work. New batteries, resetting servo...nothing worked. The tech at the shop , after about 10 minutes working on it, was able to diagnose the problem, reset my controller and fixed the problem. Great place! i wasn't greeted as i walked in, never the less i didn't seem to care because their were a few customers ahead of me, so i decided to browse through the store. They didn't have much On-road RC parts & accessories but they did have plenty of Off-Road Rc parts. After a few minutes i was greeted by a gentlemen by the name of Jake. He was very helpful and directed me to what i needed to get my rc going. He gave me tips and educated me on what i should do and helped me find what i need within my budget! Thank you Jake! I was then escorted to the cash register and John took care of me. He answered all my questions and even gave me more information about where i can find more parts for my on-road rc car. All in all, I left the place spending a total of $342 with a $164 discount. Their were other hobby stores in the area but i didn't need to make another stop since they had everything i needed. Used to go all the time but been busy. Got back into several of my cars and freshening them up. Brought my T-Maxx 3.3 back for service and the young guys are always friendly. Ironically I bought this car from them 10+ years ago from them at a RC Hobby Show when they were still around. This place has a good stock of popular cars and parts. I just like to pick the brain of employees as how to upgrade or maintain my vehicles and they are communicative. The wait for service of cars is a few wks so be prepared for that. Ironically I went back a few days later and purchased the ARRMA Limitless to start that project. There was a solid deal of $75 off that car in March. I have asked many questions and called back several times and everyone was helpful as Limitless is a roller and I want a simple build. Bryan is the senior guy there and always willing to giving advice. This store is a last of its kind and I'm glad they are still around. read more

This place is a lot of fun! They have a nice selection of kits, RTR's and parts galore. The staff is knowledgable and very friendly. My son (6) and I stopped by to check out the "real" RC cars :) There was an HPI 1/32 scale RC car on the counter that my son was completely captivated by. I have been going to store for a few months. I spent over one thousand of dollars in purchases. The employees polite but indifferent. Today, after driving over 15 miles to store was "greeted by owner " regarding a new fee for soldering . The owner replied $5 per connector . When questioning why it was free before and now i have to pay he replied "The price for material went up" when asked what material he replied " I am refusing services to you !!!" Very nasty , rude and cheap guy . He is using opportunity to rip off customers based on the fact that " Ultimate Hobbies" is the one of a few hobby stores which are still open in Orange county . I don't think I've ever seen a manager treat employees so poorly in a retail setting in all my life. I visited them to get parts for my crawler and while i was speaking to one of the sales guys a guy came out and started berating the cashier in front of everyone. I asked if that was a customer yelling at him and was told that actually it was there boss. I was really shocked by the entire display. Terrible customer service terrible people not helpful whatsoever. Went in for help on a product that I had purchased 2 days ago got to use it one day when it started having issues immediately with charging. One of the employees checked the battery for me to see if it was the battery or the charging cable but couldn't tell me exactly what it was. Mind you I already went in frustrated on my product not working that not getting any help in making their customer happy the "owner" did not want to do a refund or store credit. Instead he wanted to leave the problem to the manufacturers. When talking to the owner I was calm and polite as to he was being loud and yelling at me about him not being able to over right the warranty. He started comparing his shot gun issues with me about how it didn't work and he just had to deal with it, mind you while still being loud and still yelling and banging on the glass in front of other customers. So now I have spent so much money on this product that I can't play with I also have to wait about 2 weeks or so for my product to get shipped, fixed, and returned. Been going to this store for 20yrs+ and never have I encountered such poor customer service. They need to step up their customer service game. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!!!!!! read more

I purchased a 200$ radio transmitter from ultimate hobbies to get myself into the drone hobby and a week later the radio quit working. I understand that some products might have defects but when I went back a week later they said that they can't return or exchange the item because it was working initially so it's not their problem. Now I have to go through the manufacturer to deal with the warranty. Never shopping here again. Every time I go in the customer service is horrible but they did have the products I needed but after this experience I will not be coming back. read more
