I was helped right as I entered, which I really appreciate since I don't know my way around makeup very well. In some makeup stores the staff can feel intimidating, but that was not the case here. Gah...I'm going to say this is probably just how things are now days but still frustrating. I went in today to stock up on shampoo and conditioner, I buy 2 liters of both at a time. Was happy to see they were on sale, that's always helpful. Went to the counter to pay and as the girl was ringing up my purchase she asked if I would like a bag, I said yes (4 two liters not super easy to lug around). She hands me my receipt and pushes my products towards me, no bag. I was honestly just caught off guard and just grabbed the 4 bottles clumsily and lugged them to the car. Once in my car I look at my receipt and yeah, I was charged for a bag I didn't get. I don't know if this employee is that big of a space cadet or if she was hungover (it's New Year's Day) but if an employee is going to ask a customer a question, maybe just maybe listen for the answer. read more

I had a great experience here... not sure what's up with all the negative reviews... I needed new foundation and hadn't bought any in about a decade, so I needed some guidance. I walked in and was immediately greeted by Houston; I told him what I needed and that I preferred natural makeups. Within 15 minutes he'd found the right color base & powder in their all-natural Tarte line (uses clay!), had helped me pick a brush to apply the base with, and given me simple, practical instructions on how to apply them for maximum staying power and various levels of coverage. WORST EXPERIENCE ! i hate that everytime i bring a backpack or a purse i just keep getting stared at by the employees! no i am not stealing i just simply need a place to put my money and phone etc. and it happend again today. me and my friends walked in and we all had our bags and AS SOON as we walk in i already see one of the employees looking at us suspiciously. we were just looking at the makeup and everywhere we went that same employee kept walking by us and seeing what we were doing. it just got worse from there. even MORE employees started to gather up and were whispering while looking at us like if we were stealing! we certainly were NOT stealing we were just looking at the items. and then me and my friends decided to get away from them and just go look at the lotion area and some employee kept looking at us and talking to this customer telling her that she should come look at the lotions area so she brought to customer next to us and was telling her about the types of lotions they have..funny cus the customer didn't even ask about lotion! and so we decided to move again. then some other employee came and was pretending to fix the perfumes that were there. there was nothing even wrong with them she was just moving them around the whole time we stayed there. i just come to ulta to come buy some makeup and perfumes and stuff like that i don't need the employees on my a$$ all the time just let me live!! read more

First off I really want to state the the in store reps are lovely. I had no qualms with them at all. They're doing their jobs and operating within the frame work set forth by the Ulta corporation. They're often very helpful and friendly. I'm using the rating of one based off of my experience with trying to return a product. I did my due diligence in checking online for return policies as I wasn't able to get in store to return it within 60 days due to transportation and other issues. Online it states that if your not able to return your purchase within 60 days and prove proof of purchase and at a specific price that you'll be offered an in store credit for the lowest value with the past 90 days of the return. It does NOT state that this is just the case for all purchase regardless of proof of purchase. When I attempted to exchange my perfume for another that cost more I was offered a penny. I will reinforce that the employee I was working with was super kind! I've worked retail and I understand that they can only do so much. I decided to inquire with guest services over the phone about the issue. When I asked for a supervisor I was hung up on. When I called back I was told none were available and that they would call me back. The next morning I hadn't heard from anyone and called back. I was told that a supervisor would call me back sometime that day. No call. I called once again this morning and finally got connected with a supervisor that said it was what it was and that they couldn't do anything even after I pointed out the language used in their website. Ulta says they care about your experience, they don't. They care about your money and don't care if they're are circumstances that prohibit you from following their unstated guidelines. As I was enjoying me self and shopping the male manager(purple shirt I don't know his name) continued to follow me around the store. When he first approached me I told him I didn't need help and he left me alone. Then as I continued to shop as one does I noticed him follow me from perfume to nails and I had enough. TL;DR rude cashier manager stepped in Went to check out and the line was not very clear. There were arrows pointing every which way and So we were confused and decided to stand behind the only lady being serviced at the counter so it was VERY obvious we were in line. So obvious other customers lined up behind us also around the pillars trying to sell small things. The cashier proceeded to rudely tell us that we weren't in line and to go all the way behind people that came AFTER us and when we simply stated that we were there before everyone else and ready to pay she decided to make a big deal about it repeating that we needed to get in line behind the second line of people. The manager then intervened and helped us but it was very obvious the cashier had made many customers uncomfortable as other customers were lined up complaining that it wasn't clear to them either and that they were upset also. All of this could have just been avoided had the cashier just handled the situation without treating everyone like they were stupid and not valuing the time waited over others. read more

I am torn on how many stars to give. I had kind of mixed feelings about my experience here. I would agree with most of the reviewers about the snobby employees depending on which employee you encounter, and which department you are walking through. Considering it is not very big I am sure you will find at least half are snobby, or will completely ignore you! I will have to say the department I found the most helpful, was a woman working at the Too Faced area. She was a big help. I wasn't planning on purchasing Too Faced powder, I wanted Mac, or was going to wait to go to Macy's if they didn't have what I was looking for. I ended up getting the Too Faced. I am happy with it, I have the bronzers/ blushes, and eyeshadows anyway so I knew I would most likely be okay with the product. When I came in I was also hoping they had Lancôme eye make up remover, which they do...it is just not easy to spot because it is up at the front and you grab when you go to pay. I'm not sure how well I like that idea. I think I will stick to buying it at Macy's from behind the counter when gift with purchase time is going. I will have to say I was not impressed with the Mac area, it looked sloppy, and the people who worked in that area were the ones that were the worst of them that ignore you! And if you were acknowledged the service I felt was cold! Like they want to shoo you away. I ended up purchasing a Mac ruby woo lip kit, which I have been wanting for a while, but I was not helped by anyone! I grabbed it myself. The lady that was at the check out was the other nice person I encountered here. So kudos to her. So it is 50/50 on the service's. I am sure I will go back if I am in the area shopping with family. I was so happy when I saw that an Ulta was coming to the Salem/Keizer area. I lived really close to one when I was living in LA, so coming back to Oregon and having to drive an hour for one was definitely not ideal. I love this store for the mid level range cosmetics (ie. urban decay) and the lower end ones as well. The prices are pretty good, and they always send coupons which is great. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the selection in some of the lower range cosmetics (ie covergirl) was a little lacking. Otherwise I strongly recommend this place! read more

I love going to Ulta. I could walk around looking at all the products all day long. It smells good inside, the music is always at a good volume, the store is clean and looks inviting and the staff is friendly. Why, then, would I give it 3 stars? They are routinely out of my favorite products, and this is over at least a year of going regularly. It's not that I can't ever find them, it's just that with several products, they are out more often than not. I can understand a popular product in a common shade occasionally selling out, but it's frustrating when you know it's (at least) just as likely they won't have what you need, as it is that they will. read more

This Ulta freaking sucks! Until recently, this was the only Ulta in the Salem area. I am so thankful a different location opened so I can -hopefully- never shop here again. 90% of the staff are robotic and rude. I never usually ask for assistance when shopping, but I couldn't imagine the trouble I would have to go through to get someone's attention here and ask for help. It's so awful they don't even greet you when you enter, they all just stare and then continue conversing amongst themselves. Sephora has much nicer employees who are also extremely helpful. Minus the lack of customer service, this Ulta never seems to keep anything in stock. The store is usually messy towards the Drugstore and hair section, and items "on sale" are often falsely marked and don't actually ring up on sale. I love makeup and I shouldn't dread going here, but I do. The new Ulta in the Willamette Town Center is totally different than this one so I recommend driving the extra 15 minutes if you need to. read more

If I could give it zero, I would. The other night while eating dinner, I spied Ulta. I thought "I should order a curbside pickup and grab it after dinner. Well, they didn't have it filled by the time we were done eating. Okay--I wasn't thrilled, but really needed the stuff. So the next day I got an email saying my order was ready for pickup before 6pm. . Well, try as I might I was not able to get off work in time to be out in Keizer before 6 the next few nights. So I finally sent my husband. I gave him the pickup code, and sent him off. Well, come to find out they won't let someone else pick up the order. Not if they had the pickup scan code in their phone. Not if I called and specifically gave them permission to release the merchandise to them. What kind of customer service is that? Bad, that's what kind. My charge card is going into the trash, and I guess I will be getting my makeup from Macy's from now on. read more

This review is for Christina in the salon: I love going to cute little boutique salons to get my hair cut, but I haven't been able to find anyone who I love to cut my unruly curly hair. My mom saw Christina, who is new to Ulta as of the time of this post, and promised that I would love her (a little aside - she gave my mom a very cute short cut). I am ALWAYS nervous, because few people can give me an OK cut, and fewer get it really right. Again, unruly curly hair. It's my curse. Christina asked me what I wanted, but when she saw the hoplelssness in my face, she explained her technique, asked if it would be OK, and went to work. It takes a few days for my curls to recover from being washed, brushed, combed and cut, so I never walk away from a haircut knowing if it's good....... IT'S GREAT! Christina knows curly hair! And on top of that, she has a great personality! Forget the boutique, I can sip wine and read magazines at home. I FOUND MY HAIR PERSON! read more

I never get greeted and when I have needed help I get the " give me one second please response" or the look of "ugh can't you see I'm busy". Unfortunately now that Nordstrom's has left Salem, this is the only place to find Jack Black products that are in an actual brick and mortar store. 95% of the people that work here are straight up beezies, and I've never had an interaction with the 5% who aren't. I swear they probably all idolize the Kardashians and in their own minds they believe their the sole reason why the earth is spinning. You're in customer service... When I called to complain and request they fix it, the staff was EXTREMELY rude and unprofessional! I wasn't even trying to get my money refunded, I just wanted them to fix it! When I opened the doors to enter the Keizer, OR Ulta, I entered a bizarre nightmare where I was the one at work while paid employees watched me struggle to find what I was looking for. There were countless employees, but only a fraction doing anything besides standing and talking to each other. I overheard a hair stylist using profanity in front of a client. I'm not easily offended and I do love expression, but I could tell her client was not impressed. Just a little unprofessional. At one point I wondered if employees were magically disappearing as soon as I poked my head around to see if anyone could help me find something. They would also sometimes rush by me like they were on a mission. The store wasn't busy at all. It was mid afternoon. I had to approach an employee to ask a question, one that had been staying busy stocking just feet away from me. I asked where the Ulta brand cosmetic brushes were and she told me the aisle near the checkout and helped a little more by pointing across the store. There were no brushes there where all the Ulta cosmetics are kept. I scoured the store and didn't find Ulta brushes. Do they still make them? I finally found the small wall of cheap cosmetic brushes in the drugstore brand cosmetics. I never did end up seeing an Ulta brush. While I had moved on to looking for Physicians Formula blush, a young girl behind me looking at those same brushes I had been asked ME if I knew where the Ulta brushes were kept in the store. I told her I had just asked myself, told her what the girl told me and then pointed to the front as she had, hoping maybe this girl would be able to find them! She didn't. We were kind of on our own with that. I was so excited to be going in there to finally get some things I've been needing. I recently changed my hair color drastically for the first time in my life and was hoping to have someone help me with a new lip shade but I wasn't convinced that any employee was up for it, if I could chase one down. No one showed an interest in me the whole time and they had plenty of opportunity because I spent an hour in this store. I was disappointed. So frustrated. I REALLY don't like to be made to feel that I'm a burden as a customer in a retail setting. Ulta employees, when a customer has to approach a group of you and interrupt your talking it CAN be uncomfortable for us because it's already clear you're not really interested in doing helping out. If you could just be available and approachable. I would have left happy instead of in disbelief that out of so many employees, no one took an interest in doing their job. Total bummer Keizer Ulta. You were convenient being under 10 miles away but I'm going to have to go out of my way several tens of miles when I need cosmetics now. I won't go back unless I hear it's under new management. I'm a mom of four, on a budget (always), I was worried because I assumed one had to be baller status to get a facial. Come to find out they offer a variety of services at affordable friendly prices, yay! So, without an appointment I went in looking into my first ever facial and was able to be seen 15 minutes later, yay! We started with a consultation; Tammy wasn't pushy but very helpful, worked with my lack of esthetician lingo. I have combination skin, dry during winter and oily in the summer. I had a 30% off coupon for first timers, which allowed me to go all out. Probably won't do the whole shebang... unless it's my birthday. The process was relaxing and soothing; everything my life with four kids isn't. You even forget you're in a department store and zone into the experience. Other than the fact that I kept asking what she was doing during every step... Just now realizing I turned into my children; what's that? What are you doing? Why? But Tammy didn't seem bothered and answered all my questions, yay! After I was done, Tammy helped me plan out future services based off what I liked from the full service and what my skin would benefit from. I will be keeping my December appointment with Tammy. This was a much needed service but I only realized that more so after. I do, DO (I said do do) recommend getting this service here with Tammy. My skin feels great and looks amazing. read more

Horrible experience at Keizer, Oregon Ulta ~ Employee's are very unfriendly and cosmetic area there is never anyone available to answer questions. I saw that they stand around with other employee's talking and not doing there job. I am a mature women that feels that this store needs to upgrade there work force or at least who ever is in charge should check this Ulta out and make sure there employee's are doing a better job. Also I have seen many opened items that have been used and put back on the shelf to be sold as new. I myself will not buy used makeup or lipstick :( The Ulta prices are much higher then other places I have shopped. No luxury brands from what I know but they are overpriced anyways and who needs them when yoo can find WAY cheaper products that can do the same here! As many before me have said, if only I could give zero stars I would. The one star is by force. When Nordstroms left Salem many of us were left with no choice but to go to Ulta for some products at a brick and mortar cause sometimes you don't have time for shipping. Nordstroms had unbelievable service and to go from something that enjoyable and friendly to the horror show at Ulta in Keizer was a hard fall. I have tried this store on multiple occasions so the good reviews here were flukes plus there is a couple employees that are awesome so it sucks that I cannot give them their due personally. The "manager" at this store is an unprofessional nightmare, she is on a power trip from hell and has no business running this store. The worst experiences I've had here were with her and then when I call to complain, and I have twice, it is her they put me through to, so this does no good. She and another employee followed my sixty year old mom and I around the store so badly that when we finally left my mom was incredibly shook up and was on the verge of a frieking panic attack. I want to be clear here that we did not have back packs or do something devious that would have warranted being stalked in the store not to mention the 300 dollars in product we purchased. I have never been treated this badly anywhere ever and don't understand the horrifying service at this location. A monkey would do a better job running this store.
