Solid Omakase. They say it's a 10 course on the menu but every time we go I feel like we always get more courses than they claim.

Came here just for the dessert after an all you can eat experience next door at sushi warriors and this dessert never disappoints! I still standby the fact that the milk and cereal is the best dessert in Austin.

Amazing ambiance and high quality fish. Great omakase experience My favorite were - bluefin otoro - uni (Hokkaido uni, very fresh and no fishiness or over saltiness at all) - the milk and cereal dessert Stuff that I would not order again: (not special enough in my opinion) - the hot stone - the clay pot with mushrooms

Made reservations for a Saturday for happy hour. Got a seat pretty quickly in the dining room. The restaurant itself is dim but enough light to see what is going on. The waiter was amazing and nice. Making use of our time, we got our food and even threw in some extra due to some mistakes and delays. The gyudon was on the small side and not worth the 14 dollars, so don't get it. It was also very salty. The ham and egg was great but kind of dry. The sushi was fresh and delicious. A little mix-up with what the market fish was, so the waiter comped 2 pieces. Milk and cereal was a good way to end the meal. Fried milk and the ice cream. Hot and cold, and the crunch of the cereal makes a good pairing.

My favorite sushi place, my favorite place in the whole world!! everything on their menu is 10/10. I wish I could give them more stars because they deserve it! Staff is always welcoming, and nice from hostess to servers Clean place. This place is perfect!!

Beyond wonderful experience at Uchiko! The valet was super convenient. Highly recommend making a reservation beforehand because it does get packed even on weekdays. We enjoyed the tasting menu which is designed to be shared with another person. We also added some items and were very filling. The cocktails and sake were also incredible. We had a large group of 10 and the service was perfect.

I'm just gonna say it, probably one of the top five sushi restaurants I've been into in the United States. The sushi was fresh, well presented and delicious., The service was excellent and friendly and welcoming. The unique roles we're so tasty and the sauces that they had with almost every sushi roll was unique. Even the dessert was something special and I think it had chocolate mousse, Captain crunch, cereal, ice cream, and cheese balls. I would've never thought that would be a great match, but it was so exquisite. This is definitely a must go place if you want a wonderful meal and it actually a very fair price.

My family had taken to me Uchiko to celebrate my birthday and it was unforgettable. Service is always great at Uchiko and valet parking is free as long as you dine there. We had reservations and didn't have to wait for a table when we arrived. I highly recommend to make reservations for this establishment. Vibe and ambience is low light and intimate. Upscale and you expect service to be great. We ordered: I ordered: *2 bluefin otoro gunkan (4pcs) 5/5 love *2 bluefin akami (4pcs) 5/5 sister loved it *2 bincho (4pcs) - 1/5 did not like soft texture *2 avocado (4pcs) - siblings favorite because she lovers the lemongrass *2 kinoko hand rolls- not memorable *2 Sake hand rolls - 4/5 *2 hamachi hand rolls- 5/5 love the apple in it, love the apple *2 maguro hand rolls - 5/5 love the crispy jalapeño love the blue fin tuna *1 Bluefin crudo - 5/5 *1 Hama chili - 5/5 *1 broccoli 5/5 *1 double fried chicken - sent back did not like the flavor 0/5 *1 gyudon- add egg- 1/5 super salty Wagyu * 1 Wagyu guhkan - 1/5 not good dry Wagyu and flavor is not good. * 2 nama hotate 5/5 fresh and everything you want in a scallop nigiri! * 1 Ebi taki - 1/5 did not like , grease fire taste. Off putting * complimentary birthday dessert tha tasted like fried ice cream but I think it was milk and cereal? Not on that so don't hold me to it. I attached a picture of the dessert but I highly recommend it! Do I recommend Uchiko? Yes fancy dinner and most of the food is good. Must book reservations.

I have been to Uchiko now several times but Friday was by far the best experience. Our server Cassandra was knowledgeable and took time to help us navigate the menu. If you haven't been yet, this is a definite must! The ambiance and decor is inviting and upscale but not pretentious. The food is amazing, from their selection of fresh fish , seasonal specials and the iconic milk and cereal dessert you cannot go wrong!

I recently dined at Uchiko to celebrate valentines day and overall, the experience was just okay. The fish was fresh, especially considering it's located in Texas. For the most part, each dish was a hit or miss. My favorite dishes were the Scallop Nigiri, their take on Hamachi Carpaccio, and the Aged King Salmon Nigiri--all of which were top-notch. However, one particular dished shocked me. I ordered the Seared Scallop, and for nearly $40, I was expecting at least 3 pieces of scallop. To my surprise, it was just a single piece (I was so stunned :( I forgot to take a photo). It was a seared scallop, drenched in some green sauce and chili oil, which I found overly salty and it masked the texture combination of a traditional seared scallop. Unfortunately, this one was a huge disappointment given the wild price. Service at the front desk was great, and the ambiance was good--though I did feel a bit judged by the server for not ordering very much or something, they just didn't engage with us a whole lot, and when he did, it felt like there was a little attitude. Also when I asked for his personal recommendations, it seemed like he was just trying to upsell the most pricy dishes, the seared scallop was one of them, and that one definitely wasn't it. The front desk staff definitely had better vibes, they were really sweet and accommodating, big smiles on their faces :) Overall, I think Uchiko can deliver some really good food, but the price tag for a typical sushi experience left me feeling a bit taken aback, especially when it seemed like I was gambling with the dishes.

Ask the Community - Uchiko Austin

    How much is the omakase?

It varies based on what they select for you. $150 is a good rule of thumb. You can always suggest a cap. At happy hour, a smaller sampling is closer to $75, again based on what they send out.

Is happy hour only in the bar or can you order from the happy hour menu at a table?

    At the table too!

    Do they do anniversary desserts?

    Yes

I see that on the take-out menu, the omakase is for 2. If dining in, is it possible to get omakase for one?

Can I find out which options are no rice options? My husband can't have rice right now so I'm looking for meat/veggie options that are grain free.

Uchi and Uchiko rotate their menus daily and are highly responsive to personalization/requests at the table. For reference, most of Uchiko's hot tastings and nearly all of their cool tastings do not use rice. Most fish can be ordered as sashimi… Read more

Are walk ins still welcome during covid on a weekend?

Do they have shabu shabu here?

No hot pots at the tables. Closest thing is the dish with the Kobe beef you cook on the hot rock.

Want to get give as a gift... roughly how much would dinner for 4 cost? thanks

Happy hour (sake social) including drinks: $80-120 per person. Not happy hour, $150 per person if consuming alcohol. Plus tip.

Loro is an Asian smokehouse and bar featuring grilled and smoked meats with Southeast Asian and Japanese-inspired sauces, sides, and a bar that boasts craft beer, boozy slushees, and batch cocktails. Parking at this location is a bit of a challenge. They have overflow parking in the back but the spots are really small. We sat at the bar area and worked our way through cocktails, apps, and dessert. We opened a tab and the bar staff takes your order which is convenient, versus how you normally have to order by waiting in line at the bar. The bar staff was extremely busy because they have to make all the cocktails and take the line orders at the bar. They are a master of multitasking. It was $3 martini night on Tuesday, so was excited to sample the four different drink options. lychee martini, Mexican martini, and Lucky Cat cosmo martini. Lychee martini is made with new amsterdam vodka, sake, elderflower, Mexican martini with espolon blanco, olive, yuzu, lime and cosmo with vodka, blood orange, naranja, lime. The lychee was hands down my favorite of the three. We started with the Dip Sampler that included a trifecta of smoked shishito queso, smoked salmon dip and Thai green salsa with the Siete blue corn tortilla chips. We went through the chips quickly and got a second round of wonton chips which I preferred to the Siete chips. Tried the Mango Chamoy frozen Slushee with Siete Chamoy Botana Sauce & Siete Chile Lime Seasoning Rim, passionfruit, Aperol, Sake and Sparkling Wine which was refreshing. All their boozy slushies are $5 during happy hour. Ordered the oak grilled edamame from the happy hour menu and it was a flavor explosion with a dusting of serracha powder, lemon zest and white sesame. For dinner, I ordered my go-to rice bowl with coconut-scented rice, seasonal pickles, thai herbs and steak as the protein. They normally served this with Bavette, but the steak was a bit tough and chewy this time. Finished everything off with cheesecake with five spice crumble, yuzu marmalade for dessert. The vibe at the bar was relaxed and lively without feeling overwhelming, and the collab menu felt creative without trying too hard. The ingredients are very thoughtful for a fully developed flavor profile. Just what I would expect from the culinary minds of Tyson Cole and Aaron Franklin. Definitely one of the regulars in my list when craving good cocktails with a casual but elevated food menu.
