Update: It's been at least three years since I've visited any Two Chicks location and closer to four since my last visit to this midtown location. I came in for brunch with my little sister today for her birthday per her request. Jordan was our server this afternoon and she was friendly and attentive! The support staff as a whole provided exceptional service! I was very pleased to have had the best service yet. I stuck to the ordering a breakfast sandwich and more then satisfied this time around! My sister ordered the Bumble Brie with parm fries and I ordered the Rise and Shine with sweet potato fries. We mixed and matched and oh my belly was so happy! We went to Two Chicks for breakfast yesterday. Our experience was rough. The young lady who seated us seemed like she was having a bad day. She was unfriendly, didn't smile, and talked over us. We all ordered food and it looked amazing but tasted bland. The coffee was bland too. I ordered the vegan skillet. The potato's were undercooked and didn't taste well. The vegetables tasted frozen not fresh. My husband had the biscuits and gravy though and he said they tasted good. Our server provided okay service but I think she was overwhelmed. She forgot about us a few times and when ordering she attempted to up sale our meals. Overall I was disappointed in the food as well as the service. We witnessed the manager argue with a customer which was unpleasant. Regardless of the situation the manager should have kept calm instead of continuing to fight with the customer. We found ourselves in Reno for a couple of days and decided to return Two Chicks today. It was nice coming on a weekday as it wasn't crazy busy like it was on the weekend on our last visit. We arrived around 9 AM, we're warmly greeted and were seated right away. Delaney was our server and was very friendly. We ordered a sourdough pancake combo with sausage and a pancake combo with the Nutella pancakes special and bacon. Delaney asked if I would like anything extra in my eggs like spinach and cheese. I thought that sounded very good. My husband also mentioned that we would be back on Friday and could he get just a small taste of the gravy as he was considering getting biscuits and gravy upon our return. She said, of course! Our food came out fairly quickly and was hot and absolutely delicious! We were surprised to receive a dish of gravy. My husband tried it and thought it was very good. He only had a small amount as we couldn't even finish our regular breakfast. When our bill came, I wasn't surprised that I was charged for spinach and cheese as I kind of assumed that. But we were very surprised that we were charged $2.99 for the gravy. I think that should've been mentioned upfront when we asked for a small taste. Then we could have decided if it was worth it. It's always so busy here and if you eat here, you'll know why! We haven't been back in a while just because we're always on the go and there are times it's so packed you have to wait which we hardly ever have time for. While they were packed today, at almost closing time, we managed to get a table without waiting more than a minute, total score! Soon after we sat down, our server met us with a friendly smile and no joke, no more than 10-15 minutes after she took our food and drink order, we had food and drink. I was expecting to wait a while considering how busy they were but no, it was quick. In addition, she checked on us just the right amount, and so did those helping her. Kudos to Devyn and her team! Now the food - I love breakfast but I'm always so worried about ordering eggs because 3/4 times, my eggs are not right. I ordered over hard, I always do, can't do any runnyness... these were perfect. The gravy had a ton of sausage crumbles, the Parmesan hash browns were a first for me but paired perfectly with everything on my plate. I also was adventurous and tried a strawberry lemonade mimosa (not like me at all) and was happy that it wasn't too sweet or sour, it was just right! The simplest item was and always is my favorite, their butter. Spread just enough over your toast and you feel like you're eating the perfect bite of french toast. This has been on my list since I moved here and I finally had the chance to go! I now understand the hype! I love that while it's traditional brunch it has some twists and unique options. For example, the artichokes on the mother clucker sandwich were so good and something you don't find everywhere! Their bread also makes a huge difference! You can tell it's fresh and local - big plus! The fries were good, as were all the different dipping sauces (yes, I tried everyone's around the table!). Their brunch cocktails are also fun! I think this is the best place in Reno for breakfast. It basically has something for everyone. Traditional breakfast stuff like bacon, eggs, and pancakes are on the menu. Also they have a few things for lunch like burgers. There's also plenty of animal product free items. Even at breakfast. This is one of the few breakfast places a vegan can get something. I like the Sourdough Pancakes. It's three for $10.49 and these are pretty big, not like the mini size. These have no eggs or milk but be careful because they put a side of butter with it sometimes so tell them not to. Also has stuff at lunch, mostly burgers. It has a non meat one. I absolutely always love going to Two Chicks. If you are a Reno local or just visiting, this is def a place to go to if you have not already, especially if you are around the midtown area. First off, if you are not a very patient person, either go early morning or make yourself a reservation! I just learned this for the last time I came into Two Chicks and it was absolutely worth it because I came on a Sunday around 10:30am and the place was packed and ton of people were waiting for a table. The drinks here are worth the money. Get yourself a coffee because something about their coffee is just so delicious and warming. Then get yourself an actual drink. For me, I love their Bloody Mary's and I personally think it's the best with Tito's ! I also have had their champbucha and their mimosas and I am not disappointed at all , plus it does the brunch vibe job. The food is decently portioned and obviously delicious. I am always into getting egg Benedicts at breakfast places and Two Chicks egg benny's are pretty dang good. The food is always great. The issue is you never know what you are going to get with the staff. Sometimes it's amazing. Sometimes they immediately try to start a fight with you. I recently did a to go order. When I got it I asked the girl if the aioli was in it (I got the garlic fries). She said no you didn't pay for it. I have ordered meals with the garlic fries countless times and I've never had to pay additional for the aioli so I was very confused. I then asked if that was new because I have never paid for it. Instead of just answering my question she immediately got defensive and said she would get her manager. I let her know it wasn't necessary I was just curious. Her response and to continue to not answer me and instead said "you didn't pay for it I don't know why you're arguing with me. You don't get it if you don't pay for it" At which point I said yes please let me talk to your manager. She rolled her eyes and aggressively walked away. The manager came over and pulled my order out and said the aioli is in there because it's part of the order. Mind you the entire time the girl was clutching my bag and not once looked in. She just went straight for a fight. One that I had no energy for. Make a reservation!! Without it, you will be facing incredibly long wait times upwards of 50 minutes. We checked out two chicks for brunch for a friends birthday. The drinks were delicious and refreshing I liked the limemade rum fizz drink it was a breezy brunch drink. Also LOVE two chicks logo "fresh as f**k" what a hilarious idea- can I buy some merch? I got the half bene caprese and half bene veggie- both incredibly delicious and fresh with the perfect runny egg yolk. Fresh, local ingredients on point! Bene eggsceptional perfection! The side of sweet potato hash is where I ran into issues. I was expecting the orange sweet potato you usually get with sweet potato fries. Soft and sweet. Instead it was some kind of weird varietal that was white and tasted like a real potato and not a sweet potato! Kind of disappointing. We as a collective group even googled it thinking is this really sweet potato? I think there should be a disclaimer that it's not the sweet potato variety most people think of. I would also suggest that they allow mix and matching benes for more than just the first three- id happily pay the higher cost for two different types!! My other recommendation to make the process more smoother is to have a line for with reservations and without. It was pretty chaotic in the beginning because there was a line of like 5 people who didn't have reservations (or keep it to 1 representative per party) because the entry way was so small and I had to squeeze and make my way through! So let me start with I have been trying to come to this restaurant in Midtown for YEARS now and never got the chance due to wait times or time restrictions but finally scored the Golden time at the new South Reno location and so happy we did! The Chicken Fried Steak was out of this world and had the crunch and not sogginess that sometimes happens with Country Fried steak. The Gravy actually had meet in yet, total WIN!!
