Lousy lunch service - food came out all wrong - the server didn't care less. He never returned to see if everything came out right - never returned to refill water or ice teas. Lunch for 3 people - eating moderate items - came out to over $165 with tip. That's without any wine or hard drinks, and only one soufflé. And, the parking really stinks. Too bad this place is no longer anything special. There are much better choices nearby in the Dadeland area. It's a hard pass - never returning again. read more

I can't believe it took me so many years to make it here! We made reservations over the phone and they were able to accommodate us quickly. I was shocked by how extensive their Miami Spice menu was! The appetizers were good but I think they need some major work on their caesar salad like it was honestly very sad! It came with like 5 pieces and we had planned to share it among 3 of us. The tuna tartare was very good but pretty small. The homemade chips were delicious. The carpaccio was delicious and good to share. I ordered the meatloaf as my entree and wow it was the best I've ever had! The pork chop was HUGE and so well cooked. The NY strip was delicious and smothered with sauce and onions. The soufflés were good with my favorite being the chocolate. I have been coming here for years the restaurant is very old school and along with great food they have great cocktails. Also, the dark chocolate's soufflé is the best in town. I came to TwoChefs to take advantage of the Miami Spice menu ($35 per person) on a slow Wednesday afternoon. To start we had the lump crab cakes. They were very good, tender and topped with a Parmesan aioli. The entrees were a cold shrimp salad with tomato and cucumber, and a fettuccine pasta with bacon and mushroom. These were "ok" but not outstanding. For dessert my wife had a moist carrot cake which she enjoyed. For me, the high point of my lunch was the chocolate soufflé. It came out moist and piping hot (I think it was freshly baked?). Served with a creme sauce on the side, it was heavenly! Very good meal at Two Chefs Restaurant in South Miami. We went with some friends on a Friday night at 7pm. A party of 6. It's a restaurant tucked away in the middle of a strip mall so I wasn't sure what to expect but I left very impressed. We each ended up ordering the Two Chef's ET 3 Course menu (comes with an appetizer, entree and dessert). That allowed us to mix and match appetizers and try different items. My wife had some of the best crab cakes I have ever had. My Tuna Tartare was EXCELLENT! Could have just ordered 2 of those and been set! The Burrata appetizer was really great too! For Dinner I had the Branzino (served lightly breaded) w/potatoes like Fish and Chips. It was good, very fresh. My wife really liked theirshrimp pasta. Our friends had the Chicken Breast our friends had the Chicken Breast, Pork Chop (looked delicious!) and the New York Strip. Everyone commented their meals were great. Some had cocktails ($16-$18 ea.) And 3 of us shared a bottle of Leefield Sauvignon Blanc ($56) which was nice. I had heard their dessert souffle were amazing and I was not disappointed! I had the Pistachio Souffle. My wife had the Chocolate Souffle and we loved both! One of our friends had the Grand Marnier Souffle which he really liked. The service was Excellent! We ended up sitting there just talking til almost closing time. Great meal and great service. $228 with 20% gratuity included. The waiter was great so I gave him a little more. Let me start by saying that the food was very good and the service as well, although they seemed a bit understaffed. However, there were a few things that were very disappointing. First, we went to experience the Miami Spice 2025 menu, in particular an item on the Miami Spice menu that said "Maine Lobster and Shrimp." So I asked about it and it turns out that it simply was chunks of lobster with shrimps in a sauce. Their response was we have no control over what they write. Disappointed! Second, was the bill. They charge you more if you pay with a credit card than if you pay with cash. This you find out when you get the bill. In my case it was about $8 more and in our friends it was $10 more. Not cool! Third, and last, on the bill an extra charge for a "Homeless Tax." What the heck? They say it's required by the city.....really? I don't see it in other restaurants bill. Unfortunately, because of these reasons, I gave it three stars and my friends and I will not be returning. read more

This time around I had the tuna tartare(excellent) and the Bronzino, which was cooked to perfection. It's moist delicious grilled chicken with yellow perfectly cooked rice. I don't know how they cook the yellow rice, but sometimes I crave it more than I do the chicken. For anyone who used to go to the first chicken kitchen on 57th Ave., by sunset, place, and remember the amazing portions you used to get before all the knock offs started popping up, then, this place will give you back those memories. Prices of slowly crept up over the last couple years, but the fact of the matter is so has the price of everything else. But the portions remain big and hearty. I have had pretty good food at this restaurant when I stick to the simple things like seared tuna. This week I had a miserable lunch. I ordered the seared tuna steak (which was not steak. it was sliced). It was supposed to come with asparagus but instead it came with some terrible pasta. I asked the waiter where the asparagus was. He said that the chef was out of that and made a substitution. I said that I don't eat pasta. The waiter tried to BS me and told me that this pasta was "so light that it was just like eating salad." I said that I didn't want it. He said he would bring asparagus. He made a big flourish of bringing two sticks of asparagus "for the ladies." My friend had ordered the same thing. I paid the bill and left but found myself increasingly angry. I called the owner and asked that the meal be credited to my account. He said "We don't do that because of security." More bullshit. He offered to do something for me the next time I came in...if I was coming in again. I won't be. I guess that he would prefer that people leave nasty reviews. so I did. Today 7 friends went for lunch at this restaurant. I had not been there since 5 years ago and remembered a venue with great food and service. Not today. The onion soup was ok. The branzino that was ordered by 4 of us was dry and tasteless. Moreover, my portion of branzino was miniscule(about 1 inch by 3 inches). I should have returned it but didn't want to deal with the very slow service any longer. The souffle was excellent. However, I for one will not be returning. read more

A group of ten of us arrived for a special occasion. I have to admit that part of the appeal for the event planners was a bit of spending damage control, as there is an option to select a 3-course meal for $48. Not everyone stuck to the plan, of course, but it helped overall from rash over-ordering, TwoChefs is located in a shopping center with plenty of parking, so was convenient for all. You walk right into the bar area. The bartender was quick to serve and very pleasant to our group, starting the evening off right. We eventually made it overnto our table. The decor wasn't particularly special, but the white tablecloths amped up the overall ambiance. There was not a single complaint from anyone! At the end of the night. Special mentions went to the crab cake appetizer, which was an upcharge from the special--even the two from Maryland gave their stamp of approval. Several got the baked onion soup which was deliciously cheesy, and the classic Caesar salad was a pleaser. For the mains, the sautéed shrimp fettuccine got the most hits. The shrimp were large and tender. The seared tuna was several with a flavorful couscous and the sun dried tomatoes gave it the perfect touch. Two got the mixed Asopao and declared it a hit. The chicken beast with bacon, onion and feta normally comes with fingerling potatoes, but our Keto girl was able to swap them out for fresh vegetables and she was very happy. I personally had the Two Chefs meatloaf and mashed potatoes. I am just now noting that I didn't see any black bean BBQ, and the dish came with asparagus, which is isn't noted on the menu. Despite this glitch, the meal was truly comfort food at its best. I noticed so many of the group complimenting the food to the waiter as he cleared away plates. The only "just okay" dish was my husbands NY strip, which had a $15 upcharge on the 3-course special. His advise was go to a steakhouse for steak. Anyway, every single one of us got a Grand Mariner, Chocolate, or Pistachio soufflé with crème anglaise. They were an awesome perfection. It's not often that you can truly please everyone in a large group, but I'm rating Two Chefs with 5 stars because the chefs accomplished the task with praise. read more

This is two reviews at once having been there in August and again last Saturday 9/16. Had to return soon besides being an enjoyable place, their Miami Spice is one of the best if not the best. Most of their menu is on the Spice selections including their fabulous dessert souffles. For instance had the meatloaf special main dish which is always fanatastic, and the shrimp pasta. Came back and again repeated the sauteed shrimp pasta, and tried the seared tuna entree. Was extremely impressed with the seared tuna in presentation and definitely in taste. Came with a very unique hash browns that was great. Actually the combination was both unique and just great. And of couse finished with a pistachio souffle and a grand marnier one. Best souffles around. Only thing is think their AC could use a boost somehow, place can be a bit uncomfortable when full in our Miami heat. read more

I was in South Miami and needed to kill some time. They were kind to seat me without a reservation. The first two courses were perfectly fine and the food was delicious. The. The wheels came off the wagon. After the entree the waitress disappeared for an extremely long time. I figured they were cooking souflees. My dessert came. I ate it slowly and enjoyed it. I didn't see my waitress for another very uncomfortable amount of time. I put a bill down by my plate trying to imply that I was ready to go. Finally I asked another wait person to ask her to bring the check. She came. Didn't immediately take the check back. Returned after another five minutes and then disappeared-again. I think this time between finishing my entree and leaving the restaurant was over an hour. So much for a relaxed leisurely meal. It past time to be where I needed to be. So the meal started at 630 and went past 9. When she finally arrived with change I asked her what went wrong. She said she didn't have change to give me. Had I been involved in this discussion I would have been ok to have paid with a credit card. She took what was a really nice meal and made it one of the most uncomfortable hours I have ever experienced and I lived for a year in Spain where they were very slow to bring the check. When I called to make the reservation, the associate was brusque and seemed annoyed. When we arrived, and throughout the course of our meal, there was no host. (Even after being seated, we saw multiple parties share the same fate of being ignored at the host stand.) We stood at the host stand for a good five minutes before anyone even acknowledged us even though there was a bartender and several servers working in full view of us. A simple, "we will be right with you" would have gone a long way. Ambience is very dated with dining tables and chairs looking like a grandparent's house. And framed articles featuring the establishment lining the walls by the restrooms are from 1999, 2005, etc. Once seated, it took some time for our server to greet us as he was serving a party of 12. There was no real greeting on his part, no attempt to offer any specials, just the requisite, "Can I get you something to drink?" Even though it was obvious he was overwhelmed with the large party and us (party of 3), he proceeded to get sat a 6-top, a 2-top and more tables in the other dining room, thus aggravating his already weak service. We ordered and food came out relatively quickly and was generally good. (The only reason for any stars.) We had the grilled flatbread for appetizer and burgers for entrees. We had asked for mayo but were brought mustard instead and not enough ketchup either. We asked for salt and he brought the shaker. Not 5 minutes later, he came to take it to give to another table! What restaurant doesn't have enough salt and pepper shakers for each table?!? Refills went empty as he, alone, was running all the orders for his 12-top. At no time did we see food runners or bussers or even a manager to help. Another guest even stopped my daughter on her way to the restroom and asked if she was a manager. I can only assume we were not alone in this disappointing experience. For dessert, the souffle was very good but the carrot cake was terrible. I feel from the other reviews that this establishment gets by on their souffles and accept this level of service because they are a mom-and-pop business. This overall lack of service and complete absence of management would be unacceptable at a corporately run eatery. read more

Biggest let down. I felt as if we were dining on a cruise. The service was fine and the reservation process was fine as well. However, the food was very tasteless, it was absurd that some of the dishes cost $38+, because it was not worth it. The only reason we heard about it was because of Miami Spice and I'm really confused why it's on there, as there was no flavor on any of our dishes. We started with the onion soup and crab cakes, it was mediocre. The crab cakes were lathered with aioli. For entrees we order they Atlantic salmon which is supposed to be one of their best dishes and the meatloaf. Both were terribly tasteless. They both were cooked properly but the lack is seasoning was unreal. To the point that the soufflés felt like if they just made it from the easy bake oven from the early 2000s. I had one so I would know. Honestly maybe they need a third chef, because this two chefs restaurant definitely a no go, unless you like cruise food / tasteless food. I know this place has been around for years. I had been there, but several years ago. We went for Miami Spice. Our reservation was at 6:30and we left at 9! We were literally the only table seated when we arrived. We watched two groups come in after us and leave before we did. We all looked at the menu provided on the website and much to our surprise , several of the entrees now had up charges! Typically when you are a MS restaurant what is advertised ,you get. The food was good but not worth the wait and unexpected up charges. Lots of other places to try. I suggest you do. read more

If you want a small, quiet, casual elegant restaurant with very good food at a reasonable price this is it in South Miami. The food is consistently good. The branzino was excellent. I love a crisp skin on my fish and however it was seasoned was delicious. Served on top of a small tomato salad which was a nice contrast. Of course, I ordered my all time favorite side dish potato croquettes. Their menu is not extensive, nor has it changed much over the years. But we never lack for something different each time and we have never been disappointed with our meal. The service can be slow because it is small restaurant, so enjoy your wine or cocktail. It has to be among my favorites because it is a place I can relax and have a good meal. read more

My wife and I went to Two Chef's two years ago and wanted to have a drink at the bar before dinner. Only two people at the bar at the time but the bartender told us we could not sit because the bar was reserved. It was 6 o'clock and we asked when the reservations were for and he said 6:30. We suggested that we would vacate the seats before then and he basically told us to go to another bar. OK so we did and did not go back for two years. Last Friday we decided to give it a try again and went there with another friend. The waiter appear to not be very experienced since he had to look at a cheat sheet to describe the menu items. Anyway, my wife asked for an Old Fashioned. The waiter said "I must warn you the bartender makes the Old Fashioned with Vermouth" . My wife said I rather not have Vermouth. The waiter said sorry but the bartender is "very crabby" and he will not change. I got a martini and when I started sipping it I notice lipstick on the glass. The glass was changed. Dinner was served and as the waiter placed our entrees and walks away, he turns around and says to my wife "by the way that is not what you ordered but that is what the kitchen had". She said she wanted what she ordered and he said he could put another order in but it would take at least 15 minutes for it to be ready. Our friend had ordered her entree with no truffles but it was loaded with mushrooms. Upon calling the waiter's attention to this, he says "well they did not put any truffel oil in it". We had ordered a glass of wine and it arrived as we finished our entrees. I caught the Hostess' eye and explained what had happened. With no apologies she said that the kitchen was busy so it was prone to mistakes, that the waiter was doing his best and he did not know that truffles are mushrooms, and that the bartender could not be rushed because "he is very cranky". This has been a long review but I just wanted everyone to know why we are not going back there again. It is a shame because actually the entree that I had was delicious. I received an email from the restaurant reservation site asking for comments. Now 5 days later I have not had a reply from them. read more

We were hoping for a memorable dinner as we met a business colleague for a birthday celebration. Making a telephone reservation turned out to be a waste of time. Our guest arrived minutes before our arrival and when stated the appropriate name requested for the table, it was reported there was no reservation. The accented gentleman taking the reservation failed to record any of our information it seems. We were greeted by a waiter, not a host, who seated us at a four top table in the front corner. The table was so closely situated in the corner there was no way to physically access one of the chairs as it was pushed up against the wall. At best, it was only a three top table. The onion soup was warm but not hot...seemingly baked in advance and just sitting in the kitchen waiting for an order. The seared tuna and ravioli was bizarre with a mix of flavors that did not appeal to the two of us that ordered this entree. The best dish was the Grand Marnier soufflé which was exceptional. All in all it proved to be a lackluster dinner event and regrettable celebratory dinner. You may wish to reconsider if this is your choice for an evening meal. Gosh, how long has this restaurant been in this location? it seems like forever... As you can imagine, this is the type where a family may come for mom's or dad's birthday, or married empty-nesters for a nice evening out. A bit upscale, traditional dishes, nothing too exciting, exotic or ethnic. I haven't been to this place for a while, since I last came for a business lunch a couple years back. I noticed, however, that they have souffle for dessert on their Spice menu, and all of a sudden I developed a souffle craving. Their lunch menu lists all the Spice items and more, and you can order a la carte those same items, if you don't want so much food. However, appetizers runs over $10, entrees are $18 and up, and a souffle is $12, so there's no reason not to do Spice. They do have a lot of options for appetizers and entrees, though some cost extra. My crab cake has a nice flavor, though the beans are a bit bland. The chicken has excellent flavor and really tender. The mushroom risotto, though flavorful, is too overcooked by risotto standard. The souffle though, do not disappoint. It's hard to choose among Chocolate, Hazelnut, or Grand Marnier; I had the Grand Marnier, and it comes out tall, soft and almost too hot to eat. Spoonful after spoonful, I taste egg, orange, chocolate (from the sauce I poured on), vanilla, brandy... till I empty the ramekin with a satisfying sigh. Overall, food is okay to good, but definitely worth it for the souffle. Service is very good, and I don't feel discriminated as a Spice diner. read more

Desert aside however, the menu is always changing.. Definitely some staple items, but since everything is purchased fresh, the menu is based on current availability, which is always a good thing. Jan is fantastic and his entire staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. They have a room for events or large private parties, great for luncheons, wedding events, birthdays, and so forth.
