Everything was so good from service to the food, it was definitely worth every penny. We had Adan as our waiter and he gave great recommendations. We started with the bread and pulpo, which we ate the pulpo in under five minutes. Then for entrees we ordered the bone-in ribeye with the side of basil pasta (I can't remember the name) and the chaufa with the wagyu picahna. Finally for dessert we had the baked Alaska which was the perfect amount of sweet. For wine I recommend the Napa Valley Quilt and I ordered the old fashioned which was made well, the smoky smell was nice. This place is a bit hidden but very well known. Great atmosphere, modern decor with an exotic twist. The fried ceviche was amazing! The Ceasar salad was one of the best we've had. Although the seabass was delicious, the portion was way too small, especially for the price. Same with the filet mignon, very good but a bit small with no sides included. The baked Alaska was perfect! The wine selection was limited but loved the Chardonnay. Overall we loved the food and experience. The food is always incredible, we had- ceviche, oysters, tostones, charred caesar salad, lomo, steak, lobster, & the brussels sprouts are all so good. The service is always warm and welcoming and the staff make you feel right at home. It is a smaller restaurant so definitely make a reservation, but it is totally worth it. We loved Platea. It's a small, classy spot that took over the old Pei Wei in Pinecrest (RIP orange chicken), but now it's easily one of the best fine dining options in the area. No liquor, but there's a sommelier on deck to help with wine, so you're in good hands. We started with the passion ceviche -- fresh, slightly sweet, and a nice twist on the classic. The pulpo (octopus) came next, served with potatoes and a savory sauce that smacked. Next was the seabass entree. Clean, flavorful, and cooked just right. Then came the prime ribeye -- huge cut, and they torch a piece of rosemary tableside like a signature move. Smells amazing, tastes even better. Skip the sauces -- it doesn't need 'em. I go to the Starbucks there all the time but finally got to try out Platea. It definitely is on the pricier side. Steaks are their speciality! Service was amazing! The manager was so sweet with my son and showed him magic tricks. We had some tostones upfront for the table which were good but very filling. I orders the New York Strip Steak and the charred Cesar salad. Everyone at the table loved the salad. Cool feature: they burn the rosemary on top of the steak in front of you for added flavor. The steak was good and buttery. My only issue with the two dishes: they were pretty salty. I drank a lot of water and didn't finish them. I don't think the sommelier returned (I would have loved a second glass but I guess it's a one glass limit) Ordered the bread and butter - delicious and unique take on a simple starter. Server talked to me about the steaks available. I like that. We decide I need a NY strip. I took her suggestion for my side of pappardelle. I have never had pasta as a side for steak..I'm always looking for a baked potato. I didn't enjoy the steak WITH the pasta...but I loved the pasta dish solo...and the steak solo. Took my boyfriend here on a Wednesday night to celebrate his birthday. I love the location of this spot, it's in Pinecrest so it's close to home. I hate that all the fancy/good restaurants are always so far like wynwood or downtown. It's in the corner of a strip mall but once you get inside you immediately feel like it's a classy restaurant. Since we came on a Wednesday we didn't get to take advantage of their tomahawk Tuesday special but since it was Wednesday we got a discount on a bottle of wine. Our server was fabulous. The service was everything I had hoped for. It was like a well orchestrated dance the way the servers took and brought things to the table. To eat we got a bunch of appetizers so I'll list them in order of my favorites. I will say the presentation for each one was beautiful!! Pulpo: usually if a restaurant has octopus on the menu we'll order it and I'm so glad we did. This was my favorite dish. The presentation was lovely and the flavors were just out of this world. Highly recommend this one. It was a good portion to share. Oysters: we got two different kind of oysters, the raw and the baked. The raw oysters were WOW. They had like the ceviche flavor in it like a leche de Tigre.... Best idea ever. Mixing the oyster with this sauce (if that's what it was) was next level!!! The baked oysters were delicious as well. They had a very cheesy taste (obviously) but we love cheese so it was very enjoyable for us. The little balls on top were so interesting we were trying to figure it out but they gave an herb flavor so it was very intriguing! Next is the bone marrow. We have never had bone marrow before and this was probably my bf's favorite dish. The texture is like fatty meat but the FLAVOR was just... wow. It was just addicting. We thoroughly enjoyed this dish. Probably will order it somewhere else and hate it since this is our first try and it set the standard very high! The tostones in our opinion were not special. Compared to the other dishes we ordered, these fell behind. It was good, not great. The meat (wagyu picancha) didn't taste like wagyu and more like skirt steak. The sauce on the tostones was good though so I ate just the tostones without the meat. Last but not least we got a side of Brussels sprouts. My bf enjoyed them but to me they were a little too charred for my liking. Very salty too. So this was last on the list. I didn't really eat any. Overall, will love to come back. The experience was amazing and the food overall was fabulous. I would recommend it for special events or a romantic evening! I've been wanting to come here since they opened and I finally got the chance. I came here to celebrate my birthday with friends. It's cold inside, so dress warmly! There were 4 of us. We shared a bottle of red wine. We ordered the ceviche bowl, the fried ceviche, and the grilled ceasar salad as our appetizers. Everything was delicious! I loved the ceasar salad! The fried ceviche was super good! Very unique! The ceviche bi is pretty spicy- but delicious! As our entree's we had the branzino, the sea bass, and the prime New York strip steak. As our sides we shared the roasted Brussel sprouts, and the Tallarines Verdes (pasta). Those are the best Brussel sprouts I've ever had. I also loved the Tallarines verde (pasta), but I started getting so full, I barely had any. I tried my friend's sea bass and I liked it more than I liked my Branzino. But my Branzino was good too. I got too full to even eat half of it. The bottle of wine was plenty for the four of us. The wine menu is extensive. They sell by the glass, 1/2 bottle, and bottles. They also have them categorized by country. They have a corking fee, but they have "specials" during the week and one of the specials is no corking fee when you buy a steak. We split the bill in half and it came to $200 each. So, $400 total, or $100 per person. Not bad for the amazing food, wine, service, and for the amount of food!
