All the ambiance... it's cozy, dimly lit, eclectic decor. Great wine selection and a good array of bites to linger on long conversations. Service is attentive and friendly, neighborhood people. It's definitely a cool spot for catching up and date nights.

This wine bar recently started serving brunch on Sundays. I went with a large group of friends. The ambiance was so pretty and unique. We were transported to a different world than what it's like in the parking lot outside. (The restaurant is located in a large plaza, so there is plenty of parking). We all ordered lattes which were large and came in beautiful glasses. I had the banana bread latte which was delicious. I thought the flavor was subtle and just the perfect amount where you could taste the banana bread flavor but it wasn't overly sweet. Their food items tend to be smaller cafe-like items (sandwiches, waffles). I ordered the egg and spinach muffin which I enjoyed. Two of my friends sitting nearby had the ham and cheese croissant which they were happy with, and the waffles looked great as well. Although it's small inside and there aren't a ton of tables, there were still at least a couple tables open when we were there despite us taking up a couple. There is one unisex bathroom that was clean but that is right there (since the area is small). There is a separate outside entrance for this restaurant, but you can walk through a doorway to go to the coffee shop. We actually had to go through and pay at the cashier on that side (not sure if that is the usual protocol or was for us because we were a large group).

The Grape Ape - Manchego croquetas and wagyu gyozas

We loved this place. Such a fun vibe and everything we ordered hit. The service was wonderful too!…read more The grilled cheese was next level, super crispy, cheesy, and not basic at all (I'm still craving it). The beef carpaccio was super fresh and perfectly balanced. The skirt steak? So good and tender, flavorful, and cooked just right. But the standout for me was the tuna tostones... obsessed. And the manchego croquetas were the perfect bite. Definitely one of those spots where you want to order a little of everything and share. We'll 100% be back!

They accommodated our party of eight flawlessly, and to top it off, we even had live music on a Wednesday night. This place is such an incredible wine place with tons of amazing bottles and varieties to choose from. You basically shop around the space, pick out your own wine, and bring it back to the table for your server to open and serve. Everything is organized by region and the prices vary so you can easily find something that fits your taste and budget. Every staff member we encountered was fantastic, and everything we ate and drank was just as good. We started with a red Pinot noir bottle we loved so much that we ended up ordering three more for the table. For food, we ordered several dishes to share: The Marinated Olives which i didn't try these because I'm not an olive person. The Bacon Wrapped Plantains which was such a unique combo, and surprisingly delicious. The Local Burrata which was absolutely delicious. I've never met a pan con burrata I didn't like. The Manchego Croquetas were my absolutely favorite. manchego is one of my favorite cheeses, so I already knew I'd love this. Perfectly balanced, not greasy at all, crispy on the outside, melty and creamy on the inside. The honey sauce on the side was the perfect touch. We also got the Steak Frites & Chicken to share which was super tender, flavorful, and the fries were perfectly crispy, just how I love them. They were out of the yuca bravas, so we couldn't try these but they sound phenomenal. And we couldn't chose what desssert we wanted so we went with all three. The flourless chocolate cake with icecream, the key like tres leche and the guava tiramisu. Alll delicious !! And lastly , i have to highlight Thalia, our server. She was exceptional! Truly a five-star experience for our first visit. She handled our group of eight with ease, was always on top of refills without us having to ask, knew the menu inside and out, and gave amazing recommendations. She made the whole night even better. Can't wait to come back especially for lunch since she mentioned they have great lunch specials. This spot is definitely a new favorite,

The buzz in the restaurant and bar area is contagious reminiscent of the lively chaos in your mom's kitchen during Thanksgiving. The food was nearly flawless. I started with the Caesar Salad and bruschetta both simply delicious. The dressing was perfectly tangy, and the bruschetta was generously portioned and expertly seasoned. For my main, I chose the Eggplant Parm, an enormous portion. The cheese was generously layered, perhaps more than usual. The dish was fresh, hot, and incredibly flavorful. The sauce had a nice kick without being spicy. My mom ordered the Capellini Primavera, substituting pink cream sauce for oil and adding plenty of garlic; another huge portion. Absolutely loved it. A solid 10/10. Anna, our waitress, was outstanding, serving with remarkable speed and warm professionalism. Regret not taking pictures of our dish!!

This Italian restaurant is the kind of place that quietly ruins other Italian restaurants for you…read more The food isn't just "good" or "solid." It's cooked to perfection. The pasta has that exact bite it's supposed to have. The sauces taste like someone's nonna has been guarding the recipe since 1952. Everything feels authentic, not in the gimmicky, red-checkered-tablecloth way, but in the "this is how it's actually done" way. The atmosphere seals the deal. It's warm, cozy, and welcoming without trying too hard. Soft lighting, relaxed energy, the kind of place where you sit down for dinner and somehow three hours disappear. It feels intimate without being cramped, lively without being loud. You can have a real conversation without shouting over someone's birthday party. And then there's the wine situation, which is almost absurd in the best way. The bottles are sold at cost. At cost. Like they woke up and decided profit margins were optional. The selection is massive, stretching across regions and styles, and staring at the list is borderline overwhelming. In a good way. Whether you're a casual sipper or someone who can pronounce Montepulciano correctly, you'll find something exceptional. In short: authentic food, flawless execution, cozy atmosphere, and a wine list that feels like you stumbled into a secret. It's the kind of place you want to gatekeep... but also immediately tell everyone about.

Florida Wine Academy - Classes at the Miami Culinary Institute

Florida Wine Academy

I met Alessandra at a wine event and learned that her company teaches many classes on wine and even…read moresake. I've been thinking of taking the WSET exam to get some more solid knowledge of wine, and after comparing different places offering the course as well as online options, I decide to take the class here. Located in the SunTrust building, the academy is easily accessible and there's garage as well as street parking around. The class is a small in size so it's good for sharing experience and opinions. Alessandra is readily available to answer questions during and after class, and she gives useful tips in preparing for the exam. The course really helped me in calibrating my palate to the WSET standard, as well as broadening my horizon and introducing me to less common wines, such as Hungarian tokaji and Australian riesling. In the end, I felt that regardless of whether I pass the exam or not, the course was totally worthwhile, because it has given me a lot of knowledge and the tool to better appreciate wine.

What an incredible time I had yesterday at the Florida Wine Academy for my Wine Class…read more I have so many reasons to go back, from the impeccable place, inside and outside, to the wonderful and well-prepared class, directed by Ms. Nicole. She emailed us, two days before, and asked us if we have any food allergies since they will provide some snacks to pair with the wines. She also gave us the address and explained to us how to get there and where to park. I parked in a public garage for $5.00, this was not my best choice, because I'm not used to walking alone downtown, but it wasn't that bad after all. I went into the Sun-trust building, a beautiful tall building. The academy is on the 22nd floor as Nicole told us in her email. Once I got there, we went to this room where she had everything set up as you can see in my pictures, so pretty and organized. That's one of the most important things for me, how well organized and neat everything was. I need all those, in order for me to learn and enjoy myself the way I did. She started the class as a Professor will, telling us about herself and that, made me happy, such a prepared person is teaching me about wine...wow. The way she directed the class, with all the details, from guiding us where to buy wines, to open up our senses. Smell, Taste, and Body, were words we used during the whole class since we learned from her how to categorize each different wine, from all the six we had. As we were learning, smelling, and trying the wines, she also told us how to pair them with food and gave us tips on which wine will go good or better with the food we choose. With the wines we tried, we had some nuts, cheese and crackers, grapes, and dark chocolate...Yummy! They also offer all the 4 levels of WSET classes, plus labs like the one I went and more. You can always call or check their website for more information. Honestly, after trying this class yesterday, I don't feel so embarrassed to try the leveled classes and get my certification, because they way they teach you, you can actually learn and move forward.
