Last night I celebrated my birthday at Bouchon Bistro, one of my favorites in the Gables. I've been here countless times for happy hour and dinner, and even celebrated an anniversary here a few years ago, but last night was so very special. Huge thank you to Natalie for helping organize everything, to our wonderful waitress Wendy, and to the entire team who made the evening feel so easy, warm and magical. The service was outstanding, the food was incredible as always, and the whole space has that perfect elegant but laid-back vibe. Definitely one of the best spots in the Gables. Came for lunch for the Miami Spice menu. My friend and I shared the pig ears as an appetizer. We both ordered the French onion soup and the steak frites. I ordered my steak medium well but it came well done. It was still very good and had a nice flavor to it. For dessert, I had the creme carmel and my friend had the pistachio ice cream. The creme caramel reminded me of an egg custard that my mom used to make for us growing up. It was delicious. At over $200 for lunch, I wanted the food to wow me. It didn't but it was very good. Holly our server was great. Gratuity is included on the check. Parked right outside on the street for $6.75 for 2 hours. Maximum parking on the street was for 3 hours. Amazing! Came for taste of gables and they had a wonderful selection of items to try on that menu. The restaurant is beautiful, dimly lit, super romantic. The service was great- our server was really helpful and checked in on us often. I tried the oysters, escargot, steak frites, and got to try all the desserts too! The oysters were fresh and buttery- delicious! The escargot were good, but i didnt love the biscuit on top. I think it went better with the house bread. Steak frites were amazing. The filet mignon literally melted in your mouth. And all the desserts were delicious! Especially loved the lemon sorbet. Very refreshing and citrusy. I came here last night for Taste the Gables and absolutely enjoyed my time. Since I walked, I absolutely loved the classic look of the restaurant. The bar, red velvet furniture and the huge flowers behind the host station truly elevated the look of the establishment. We were immediately seated as soon as we arrived. As soon as we were seated, they brought us baguette bread with this tasty butter and pistachios. I loved picking at the pistachos while waiting for our food. To drink we tried the Modicum Rose, which was very good. To eat, we tried the crispy pig ears, escargots de Bourgogne, soupe a l' Oignon, Steak Frites, Truite Amandine, Bouchons au Chocolat and Creme Caramel. Everything was divine. It was a nice surprise that the crispy pig ears were meatier than I had anticipated. The escargot and French Onion Soup are the best ones that I've tried. The steak was cooked to perfection and the fries were crispy. The fish was so tasty. I was expecting the Bouchons to be warmer but they were still delicious and the creme caramel is like a lighter flan. They were definitely a great way to end our dinner. The service was phenomenal. Multiple servers checking in on us, plates and utensils getting replaced right away and when we would get up, the napkin would be folded again. The waiter also gave us baguettes bread with our leftover. This small gesture was very touching. I honestly think this may be the best French restaurant in Miami and look forward to retuning and trying other items from the menu. read more

The ambiance is very French, you feel like you're in a little bistro in Paris. We went during "Taste of the Gables" to try it out because they offered a specially priced menu. Although the food was good, they had pretty big up-charges for many basic items (i.e. onion soup, steak & frites). The onion soup was good, but definitely not worth the price! I've had better. The salmon salad was very good, the croque madame was also good (fries were delicious), and the lemon and mango sorbets were very tasty. We ordered the oysters as well (not included in the special menu, of course). Again, they were good but a bit overpriced. Service was good, music was very nice, and the atmosphere lively and elegant. We may come back, but considering there are so many wonderful restaurants in Coral Gables, they didn't necessarily make the best first impression. read more

I'd been wanting to try this place for a long time, but the limited menu and high prices always made me hesitate. I finally came for brunch, and while the location is beautiful, the restaurant feels cozy, and the service was pleasant, the food itself was disappointing. The cappuccinos arrived lukewarm, and so did the quiche. I asked for a Lorraine quiche, but they only offered the quiche of the day--Florentine. I also requested Eggs Benedict, but the only option was a lobster Benedict. The Oreilles de Cochon were just okay, and the croque madame had virtually no flavor. Overall, the experience didn't justify the wait or the cost, and I don't think we'll be returning anytime soon. read more

We had a large group to dine at Buchon Bistro in Coral Gables and we had a wonderful experience. In entertaining large groups, one of the issues can be service. It's not easy to keep up with a table of many people asking for things all at once. This service staff had it figured out. They were on it with everything from our wine order with the sommelier to the servers who made sure our glasses were never empty, and our food was continuously flowing. If I could give more stars with service, I would. As far as the food - absolutely delicious. We started with the deviled eggs, escargot and foie gras. For dinner, several of our guests had the steak frites and they all loved it. Another guest had the leg of lamb and I had the special of the evening the dover sole. For the dover sole, they deboned tableside and it was absolute perfection. For dessert we tried the creme brûlée, chocolate tart, profiteroles & mango-pineapple ice cream and loved them all. We took a couple of our friends visiting from California to Bouchon Bistro for brunch, and it absolutely did not disappoint! This place truly caters to all your senses -- from the elegant ambiance to the incredible flavors and presentation. Let's start with the desserts -- not only are they stunning to look at, but they actually taste just as amazing as they appear. The rose-shaped cake we tried was a work of art, and when we cut into it, the cake was perfectly moist and flavorful. Huge kudos to the pastry chef for hitting the mark -- it's rare to find desserts that are both picture-perfect and delicious. My husband and I both ordered the eggs Benedict, and they were cooked to perfection -- rich, flavorful, and beautifully plated. And the coffee? So good that we all ordered an extra one to go! High off an excellent brunch, we left ready to explore Coral Gables and already talking about when we'll be back. What a beautiful French restaurant! We went to enjoy some traditional French cuisine. The only downfall was it gets quite hot in there, but luckily they were able to pass us out some paper fans. They put a piece of braided bread on our table with french butter (if you know you know) so delicious. The Som recommended a delicious red to have with the food. I forget what it was called, but it tasted like a cab. We did the Miami Spice menu. I started with the escargots de bourgogne. Absolutely delicious snails with a garlic butter and puff pastry. For an entree I had the steak frites, but i subbed mashed potatoes for the fries. WOW these were some of the best mashed potatoes I ever had. Buttery, smooth, decadent, I ate the whole plate. Way better than the fries. For dessert I had the bouchons au chocolat. They were warm and delicious and topped with vanilla ice cream and a chocolate sauce. Our waiter was very nice and prompt. Whatever review you read just stop at mine. This restaurant is a MUST regardless if you're a foodie like we are and i wanted to go to a Thomas Keller restaurant for a while and this was amazing. We had the oysters west and east coast. 10/10. Some of the best oysters we've had. The clams that come in this sofrito sauce was out of this world. The beef tartar was amazing with the horseradish crème fraiche. The only thing that we didn't care about was the escargot but they were still good. The steak frites great. The desserts were amazing. The crème brûlée was some of the best I've had and we just got back from Paris. Please check out this place. We definitely will be back soon! read more

I came here with a friend. We decided to check out the Miami Spice menu. We made reservations and we were sat immediately. The waiter was very nice and helpful. They brought out a fresh loaf of baked bread and a side of warm pistachios. We both decided on the escargot for our appetizers. They came out very hot. They had little flaky pastries on top of them. The escargot was very small. I've had them several times but they've never been this small before. But they were delicious. As our main entree we both ordered the steak frites. The filet mignon was delicious with a tasty herbed butter on top. The fries were ok. They seemed like previously frozen fries. Not the high quality you would expect at a restaurant of this sort. But, the steak was perfect and that's the most important thing. For our desserts we both ordered the Bouchons au Chocolat. It was yummy, but honestly it just seemed like a cylinder shaped brownie. They were very small, which was perfect because by that point in the meal you're already pretty full. A small amount of dessert is all you need, and even then, we didn't finish them. I usually like to have a glass of wine with dinner, but it was VERY expensive (even by the glass)! The Miami Spice menu was $60 per person and the wines were $30-45 per glass on average. It was pretty busy on a Friday night and it got pretty loud. We could hear each other fine, but I got a call and couldn't hear anything on the phone. They charged us $7 for the flat water and added an 18% tip to the check. Our checks came to $80 pp. So if you're going out to try the MS deal, plan on spending more than the $60 price. We parked in the garage next door and parking was $5. We tipped extra because our waiter was really nice. read more

We had an exceptional dinner at Bouchon Bistro in Coral Gables. The entire staff was extremely knowledgeable and attentive, and we appreciated that the restaurant was family-friendly, with a few kids present during our early dining experience without any issues. Dinner started with a warm bread service, along with homemade butter and pistachios. The meal itself was exceptional, with dishes like escargots and steak and frites cooked to perfection. The escargot were a group favorite! They were topped with a puff pastry and marinated in the most amazing garlic butter sauce. The truffle potato special, which came with potato dumplings topped with fresh truffle shaved in front of us, was a highlight of the meal. The steak and frites were cooked to perfection, medium, rare, and just melted in our mouths. If we ever came back, we would definitely start with escargot and have the steak and frites again. We also tried the mussels which were so fresh and cooked in this savory and herby butter wine sauce. The wine list was pricey (which made sense for this type of establishment), but we were able to find a more affordable option in the La Fete Du Blanc, which paired perfectly with our food and was just as incredible. The desserts were also incredible, with the citrus tart and crème brûlée being standout options. Overall, we had a fantastic time at Bouchon Bistro and would definitely return. I had my first visit to Bouchon Bistro and overall really enjoyed it! The food was delicious -- my steak was cooked perfectly, the oysters and deviled eggs were spot-on, and the service was super friendly. The only thing that kept this from being a 5-star experience was the pacing. We arrived a little after 5 when the restaurant was empty, but everything came out way too fast. Before I could finish a bite of my oysters with my cocktail, the first course was already hitting the table. At one point, we had bread, pistachios, deviled eggs, escargot, and gazpacho all crowding the table at once, and I hadn't even settled on wine yet. It felt rushed, and for a Thomas Keller restaurant, I expected a little more thoughtfulness in timing. That said, the flavors were fantastic, the vibe was great, and I'd definitely come back. Next time, I'll just make a point to ask for a slower pace so I can really relax and enjoy it. read more

I've been to the other Thomas Keller restaurants. This was the first time I've left one disappointed. My experience with the service was altogether positive. The staff were friendly, courteous, and attentive. And while the service was a bit slow, that was a reflection of the precision and care that it's provided. This was consistent with the product I experienced at the other Thomas Keller restaurants. The restaurant itself was also beautiful. Frankly, the interior was better than the Bouchon Bistro in Napa. I loved the natural light and decor. My only feedback would be to soften the walls to reduce the noise in the restaurant (without losing that beautiful natural light of course). The issue we had was in the back of the house. First, my mother was disappointed by the lack of quiche, which we were informed was not to the chef's standard. Fair enough, but then the French Onion Soup we had was also subpar by tasting far too sweet. We asked for a croissant, which was not available. Again, I understand there's no bakery there, but it's still disappointing. As was the presentation of the baguette, which lacked the distinctive ear that was so obvious when we had it in Napa. And finally, the steak served with my steak frites was criminally small. This was mentioned on other reviews I've seen. Pictures from other reviews also show some variance on the size. I understand that it's a filet, but I think disclosure on portion size or consistency is in order. I don't like leaving negative reviews about such relatively minor things. But there are clearly issues in the back of the house that are tarnishing the Keller brand, which was (at least for me) flawless up to this point. read more

I got to say that this visit was a way way better experience and I have to give it to the bartender. Great recommendations, generous service and even took back the french fries as they were just a liiiiiiittle over cooked. Didn't even complain, he just did and he was right! Not salty too. Are you ready to be transported to Paris? Bouchon Bistro in the Gables literally feels like you've traveled to Paris, you're just missing the smell of cigarettes. The place is stunning plus I'm a sucker for wine, bread and a good deviled eggs. We started off with their gorgeous onion soup, careful it's hot but it's so hard not to dive in. Their escargot with puff pastries is pure art and it makes me wonder why more restaurants aren't doing this. Each bite is the perfect bite. It's not French unless you get a steak frites and we upgraded ours to a ribeye with an incredible marbling. You can tell the cow was well fed because that meat was tender and buttery. The trout is a gorgeous mix of texture with snappy green beans and crunchy almonds and served with such luscious mashed potatoes. We were lucky enough to try all 3 of their desserts their BOUCHONS AU CHOCOLAT , that brownie was perfectly crispy and the perfect ice cream companion, their creme caramel is the French equivalent of a flan but the part that I was refreshed by was their amazing house made sorbets we got mango and guava and I was in heaven. When a Thomas Keller restaurant opened in the Gables I was elated at this fine dining option in the area. While I have not been to dine at the restaurant, I have made several visits to the bar which is absolutely fabulous. Think upscale French Brasierrie with good cocktails and cozy ambiance. At first, I didn't think the bar scene at such a nice resataurant would be particularly easy to snag a seat at, but it is! They have a super friendly and knowledgable bar team (shout out to Ray and co for the delish martinis). I've enjoyed dirty martinis, carajillos, French 75s, and French martinis there on my visits and all were great. They also have a solid wine selection. My go to bar snacks are oysters and beef tartare, with the escargot rounding it out for a solid third choice. I need to make my way to dine at the restaurant, but the bar definitely has a hold on me as of late. They also offer happy hour Tuesday - Sunday at the bar or in the courtyard from 4 - 6 pm with cocktail and food specials. We love a good weekend happy hour! I will most definitely be back. read more

FIRST & LAST. I am a local and rarely complain, always on the lookout for Miami scammers. This time was different. Our bartender Armani completely ripped us off. We ordered a $95 bottle of wine, wife had a soup & salad, I chose the $60 prix-fixe menu to share. We explicitly declined all premium upgrades. The bill should have topped out around $200. Instead, Armani brought a $421 check. When questioned, he claimed we ordered every single upgrade, $46 for just ONE of them. The place was busy and crowded and I didn't want the stress of arguing for the bill. I called from the car and spoke with George the manager to report this blatant -in you face robbery. He said he would take care of us . Lol . Avoid this place, especially Armani at the bar and watch your receipt. It's a shame, the place looked great and the food was also very good. Can not believe the review is not even 4 stars. The foie gras was absolutely delicious! It was perfectly seared, incredibly fragrant, and well-seasoned. It melted in your mouth and paired so well with the thin toast underneath. It was such a treat. Although foie gras can be rich, I had no problem finishing a whole serving here. I also tried foie gras at Hell's Kitchen, but Bouchon really blows it out of the water. The baked escargots with puff pastry were both fragrant and crispy. The escargots paired with the flaky puff pastry were great, though eating more than a couple can get a bit heavy. The garlic butter mussels were tender and juicy. As a signature dish, it was really impressive. The fries served alongside were also delicious--crispy, made from fresh potatoes , and reminded me a bit of In-N-Out's fries. The dishes we tried were a bit greasy, and I started to feel a little overwhelmed . Probably shouldn't have ordered all of these at once, haha . You might want to try the lamb chops or duck leg next time. The custard ice cream puff dessert was fantastic! The ice cream was soft and creamy, almost like a delicate custard, but still ice cream. It was paired with fresh chocolate molten lava, and the combination of cold and warm was perfect. It was so refreshing, and I couldn't resist having two! read more

We arrived a little early so that we could sit at the bar and have a few drinks while our table was ready. The bartender recommended a few drinks, and we enjoyed the whole experience. We were able to score a last minute reservation. We have been to the one in Napa in 2021 and it was really good. I have to say the service here though blew it away. Service- outstanding and maybe overkill for a bistro. I don't need multiple people serving and cleaning the table. This is not the French Laundry. Food- not up to the hype. French onion soup- I tried this at every French restaurant and this one was too sweet and too thick. Salmon tartar special was delicious. I love steak and pay premium price for premium cuts, but I felt the pricing was egregious for the type of cut. Flat iron is no filet mignon so the price should have been less. Although it was tasty ( didn't take a picture). Oysters- I expect oysters to be cleaned well especially at $6 an oyster. I've eaten plenty of oysters at different restaurants around the world and at different levels of service so I know what to expect at different price points. As a purist that likes my oysters without condiments, I can say the selection of oysters were great ; I just didn't like the random pieces of shell and gritty bite. Ambiance- quaint especially since it's located in the historic La Palma hotel. Bar- great service at the bar. The bar had a great selection of liquor (I'm always happy when I see Chopin). Service is definitely a 5. Food is good but overpriced. I really wanted to love this place especially since I will be eating at French Laundry soon. Great meal at Thomas Keller's newest Bouchon Bistro in Coral Gables. Started off with excellent home baked bread and butter along with house pistachios. Shared the Bibb Lettuce and Smoked Salmon appetizer--both very good. Enjoyed the pan seared steak frites cooked a perfect medium at the chef's recommendation (more like medium rare, which I prefer) that was topped with butter; quite tasty. Finished the meal off with dessert by sharing profiteroles and an excellent, light crème brûlée. I had a glass of red wine, friends ordered sodas. Total bill, with additional tip on top of the 18% service charge, came to $115 each--quite reasonable given the caliber of food here. Nice ambiance and very attentive wait staff.
