First, let's start with the fact that they have a parking lot. Thats a win right there! Second, you walk in and are received by smiles and great personalities. And the ambience is relaxed but sophisticated and not at all stuffy. Now, let's get to the food. I tried their Miami Spice Menu and it was the best intro to this restaurant, for me. Every plate dropped was better than the previous (how that is possible? I dont know, but it was) I tried 8 different items and honestly you can't go wrong with anything. But I will definitely be back for the duck flautas, brussel sprouts and shrimp aquachile! And last but not least "abraham" our server was truly delightful, his explanation of each dish, his recommendations were spot on and his overall attention was wonderful. read more

Definitely worth it! The food is fantastic, the atmosphere is casual and welcoming, and it's one of the few places in the Gables with convenient parking. The cocktails are outstanding, especially the margaritas, which feature a delicious foam topping instead of the traditional salted rim--a unique twist that's definitely worth trying. The quesadillas de chicharrón were packed with flavor, the fish tacos were perfectly crispy and delicious, and the flautas were excellent. Servings are gourmet size, but not gourmet flavor. At these prices you'd think they would have amuse bouche and pallet cleansers. Service really slow. Even the large dishes were really small. The scallops, lack density, they were watery. I enjoyed shrimp and black garlic. Most of the other dishes were ok, nothing to write home about. A great alternative is Bistro 8. It's hard to find authentic Mexican food in Miami and free parking in Coral Gables but it seems like this is the place! We only had appetizers and all were served to perfection. Anyways, gonna do a live reaction of the Miami spice with wifey. Great value judging by the Miami spice menu, so far so good, let's see. Chips & salsa - first round is free which is cool, great Smokey flavor on the salsa. Perfect amount of kick. Guac - "might be the best guac I've ever had" - wifey. I agree Classic Margarita - wow! Very good. Top tier margs Queso fundido - good but how can you mess up cheese Sopa de tortilla - very good very cozy. Duck Flauta - great! Loved the sweetness Carne asada taco - wowzers yea very good. If you like tapas, this is your place. We had guacamole with chips and two chicharron quesadillas. They were both good but the quesadillas were tiny. They were about the size of a tortilla chip like another Yelper said and you get 4 of them stuffed with meat. It was more like a pork quesadilla because I didn't taste anything crispy in it but it was good. We requested another chips and salsa, which I think was complimentary. When we stepped in, every single waiter greeted to us, passed by the bar, the bartender was greeting to you, yes, very warm and friendly , but overwhelmed. I guess it's coz they just opened, and not many customers yet. To be clear, we were the 2nd group in restaurant, later another couple came in. That's it. The food is in small portion, like tapas, we ordered a ceviche, a salad, tacos, and quesadillas. They were all super small. (Compare the fork/spoon with the dish in picture, you will get an idea of the size of the dish) Ceviche and salad was really delicious, but tacos and quesadillas were super dry, like very old, made yesterday and warmed up. $75 for our orders（4 tiny dishes, yes the quesadillas were tiny too, each piece is like a tortilla chip size), not worth the price, we weren't full but left after had the tacos and quesadillas, went to somewhere else for other food. Waiters came by literally every single dish and asked how's everything? Another waitress came and asked Can I take this plate? Are you done with this? This was a rather pleasant surprise for me. Not your typical Mexican restaurant in the best way and very different cuisine than we are probably used to in Miami. Started with the very delicious Casa Mx margarita and ended up having 4 of those, very refreshing. I opted for the Camarones Zarandeados, duck flautas, scallop al pastor. Been here twice, once for dinner and once for happy hour (only at the bar). They make a good margarita, both some specialty ones and a few classics and select ones are 10 dollars during happy hour. Some of my favorite dishes are the Squash huitlacoche quisadella which has such a creamy rich flavor to elevate the dish, the tuna tostada and esquites. I'm honestly less impressed with their tacos than their other dishes and would probably go to a taco focused place if that's what I'm specifically craving. But for a margarita and bites this place is hard to beat. They offer a basket of chips and salsa to start you off like a good Mexican restaurant should but not all do in Miami and I highly recommend adding guacamole too. Service is friendly and the time I went on a Friday it was pretty busy. They have a parking lot which is great for a place close to the miracle mile! read more

When considering where to have dinner on a recent Saturday evening, we saw Casa MX listed as "new" on Open Table, and we decided to try it. We often visit Talavera, Koko, Mi Rinconcito Mexicano and even the former Tacos el Carnal in this general area at least monthly, and often search out proper Mexican food when in other cities, so we were excited to find Casa MX. When we arrived several tables were occupied, but it wasn't full. We asked to sit at the bar and were accommodated right away. I requested a classic margarita, but I was served, and upcharged, for a Casa MX Margarita with salt foam instead. My husband ordered the MX-Calita which was good. We were also given waters and a complimentary order of chips and salsa. We ordered the queso fundido as an appetizer. The menu said "Add green chorizo $3" but the staff explained they were sold out of that, so we just stuck with the standard cheese. We asked for a bit more salsa and the bartender attempted to upsell us to an order of chips with salsa for $5. We declined as we didn't need more chips and just wanted a bit more salsa to go with the queso. Without the green chorizo, the queso on its own was a bit flavorless, and the tortillas it was served with seemed to have a coating of oil on them. My husband ordered a classic margarita and I the chipotle watermelon without spice from Hansel, the other bartender for our second round. Hansel made him the true classic margarita and it was quite good, as was my watermelon drink. We then ordered our main courses; I requested the whole fish (whole pescado a la talla) and my husband the carne asada, prime 12 Oz NY Strip. The main bartender returned and told me they were out of the whole fish (that likely meant they were out of fish for at least most of Saturday's dinner service and also Sunday - and until they'd get a delivery the following week) so I switched to the pollo arabe kebab which seemed a bit out of place for a Mexican restaurant, as the kebab and the tzatziki were decidedly Greek. We also ordered a bottle of Prado Rey Spanish wine to share. The wine was good, but while most all restaurants have a markup on their wines vs standard retail pricing, the one here at Casa MX was a bit high. Our meals took some time to arrive to us after ordering, and the steak my husband ordered for his entree arrived undercooked. He requested medium, but it arrived nearly raw (see photo) and had to be sent back for more cooking time. The steak came with a few strips of grilled cactus, and a dish of mole negro that was quite thick, but flavorful. The entree I ordered - the chicken kebab with hummus, cabbage and tzatziki, while more Greek than Mexican, was nicely grilled and served on long wooden-handled skewers and I enjoyed that dish. It's always great to see new restaurants, especially ethnic ones, open in the Coral Gables area - but based on our experience here they do have some growing pains to work through. They were out of a few things we tried to order, and the kitchen had some definite kinks. Beyond that, the upcharge to the better margarita vs. the one I'd actually ordered and attempted upsell when we simply asked for a bit of additional salsa didn't earn that particular bartender much favor. We'll definitely stop back and visit Casa MX again once this place has been in operation for a few months and I hope they do well here! read more

This place was great! Reasonable pricing, great service, great food, delicious and fresh drinks. The ambiance is whatever, but that's not what you're there for. Tuna tostada was filled with tuna, and a good size for you and a friend to each have a couple of bites. The scallop ceviche was good, not great. The fish tacos were huge, with a big piece of fried fish on each taco. The standout dish, however, was the octopus. It was crispy, flavorful, and a big portion. I would get this again and again. Casa MX Miami is officially open, and it absolutely delivers. From the moment you walk in, the space impresses--the interior design is stylish, warm, and thoughtfully done. This place believes in making some of the most memorable meals and I guess that's why what they're known for is kind of like their top of style where you were supposed to order a ton of dishes, gathered together as a friend and family and then share in the experience and the wonderful flavors. Would recommend for happy hour instead of dinner. Drinks were good. The tres leches was perfect! However, service while really friendly, was inconsistent and slow. Don't come here expecting your standard Tex-Mex tacos and chimichangas. This is authentic Mexico City style food fare. As our first time, the wife and I came on a Thursday night and the place was packed. Not knowing what to expect, our host Rodrigo guided us through the small but interesting menu. The dishes are app sizes and are meant to be shared. We tried 6 different choices and every one of them was delicious, 10 out of 10 on all six. This restaurant is focused more on tapas even though they do offer a few large plate options. I want to see iced tea and an assortment of non-alocolic drinks added to the menu, right now it's basically Mexican coke and water. Also told the waiter that I would like to see more vegetarian options as even the beans here have lard in them. It's 2026, most restaurants should have more plant based choices. What I did have I really liked. Portions are just right for the tapas and the quality was certainly there. Service here was a bit too eager as certain things were removed before they were finished. As for the drinks, I would rate them 6/10. They were priced between $16-$18, which is fairly standard for Miami, but they didn't stand out in terms of flavor or creativity. We weren't very hungry, so we decided to try the shrimp aguachile ceviche. Unfortunately, this dish was disappointing for us. While I understand the restaurant may be aiming for a more gourmet or elevated style, the flavor was very mild, and I personally missed the bright lime and bold flavors that typically define an aguachile. We've been searching for a go-to Mexican restaurant in Coral Gables for years, and this new spot has quickly become our favorite. The service is outstanding--attentive, welcoming, and incredibly kind to our 1.5-year-old daughter, even as she makes her usual squawks and messes. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between casual and comfortable, while the food and drinks are elevated in both flavor and presentation. So far, we've tried the Espresso Martini, Tiger's Milk, and La Pasión cocktails, and all have been excellent. On the food side, the standouts for us have been the duck flautas, octopus (pulpo), and skirt steak. We're excited to keep working our way through the menu, but based on our experiences so far, this place is a gem. read more

My friends and I met for lunch at this relatively new restaurant offering a Mexican menu. To start off, I had their spicy margarita made with agave rather than tequila. It was tasty which prompted a e second one. We didn't order one main mean opting for different appetizers. To be quite honest, the best was the guac and chips. The carnita tacos were okay and so were the quesadillas. Our server was attentive and aimed to please. The place itself is nice but not much ambiance. IWe started with guacamole and the quesa fundido. I'm always worried about spicy food so these worked very well and were fine for me. We then shared plates of Huitlacoche quesadillas, camarones al ajo negro (shrimp with black garlic), and the carnitas (pork) and lengua (beef tongue) tacos. The flavor combinations were very nice. We want to come back and try other dishes. We came on a Wednesday night so there weren't very many people so we were able to have conversation. The place is simply decorated.
