1OCT26 Today we visited Xixón a Taste of Spain for the first time. The atmosphere is pleasant, warm, and friendly. We came to celebrate a birthday and were seated on the terrace, which has a screen showing an image of a cabin with a pool and natural view. The screen allows you to adjust the mood of the area, from ambient music to music videos. At first it played elegant instrumental music, and once the night warmed up, with just one adjustment the festive vibe kicked in with salsa and Cuban music. The terrace is very well set up: it has ceiling fans, air conditioning units, plastic curtains to protect from rain and maintain the temperature, decorative trees, and warm lighting that makes it very cozy. For drinks we ordered Estrella Galicia Especial they arrived nice and cold and are served with a chilled glass. Our server was Dayana, and Helio Javier also took care of us; he was always attentive to everything we needed. I really liked the leather coasters with the restaurant's name. I also had the chance to chat with the owner, Jolver Blanco. The Serrano ham croquettes were very good. I ordered the tenderloin tips (puntas de solomillo) and the salmon was also excellent. The restaurant has a great variety of rooms and atmospheres on different levels: the wine cellar (cava), Spanish winery-style areas, the indoor bar with striking jellyfish decorations, the entrance, the restrooms, and other themed spaces. There's a vineyard-style room with a ceiling decorated with leaves and grapes, another with starry-sky lighting, and the "Cuarto de Tula" with a bed, Russian-style fan, and typical Cuban elements. They also have cigars/habanos available for sale. One of the most interesting details is the men's restroom: the paintings of women with playful expressions give the feeling that they are looking at you, which sparks the imagination and adds a very original and fun touch to the space. Overall, the décor is impressive and very well done. Excellent first impression read more

For years Xixon was one my favorite restaurants in Miami. It felt like a little piece of northern Spain. A true Spanish "restaurant" ambiance where even the servers were Spanish with whom you could talk about the old country. What a disappointment it was to see the place has transformed into a night club with Latin America music (with extensive profanity) so loud we couldn't even have a conversation or understand what the servers were saying. The menu changed for the worse, two of plates we wanted have been removed although they still show in the menu. Also remarkable the service was below pedestrian. Servers vaping and smoking hukka (not sure if spelled correctly) while serving. Maybe it is the ownership is aiming to a different audience, and as good capitalist, I wish them much success. However, those who like me used to love the old Xixon should know is gone. It is just not for me, my family and at least those accompanying us tonight. So long! read more

Very good classic Spanish food. Excellent service Parking is mostly valet as it's on a main road (coral way) and parking is limited at best In addition to pictures we ordered lentil soup, gazpacho, and crema de calabaza All were excellent read more

I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming, with a comfortable setting that made it easy to relax and enjoy the evening. The food was outstanding. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. You can really tell that the kitchen pays attention to quality ingredients and careful preparation. The menu had a great variety of options, making it easy for everyone in our group to find something they loved. The service was just as impressive. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, offering great recommendations and making sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. Overall, this restaurant delivered a fantastic dining experience. Great food, excellent service, and a lovely atmosphere make it a place I would happily visit again and recommend to others. read more

Hadn't been here in years and really can't believe that I hadn't reviewed this restaurant previously. We ordered the house pate, anchovies, garbanzos guisados, and the paella de mariscos con langostinos. Everything tasted great, but I will say that my personal favorite was the pate. Service was on point and prices are reasonable. Plus, they have live music if you prefer and the restaurant itself looks great. Excellent spot for a date night out imho. 5 stars well deserved! read more

Food was ok, service was slow, the server was hard to find and would walk away like he had some where else to go. The live entertainment was loud and we could've done without it. Around 10PM without any notice whatsoever we had to endure horribly loud techno music. By then we all agreed that this was obviously not what anyone would expect at an authentic Spanish restaurant. This place is not about the food nor about the people that go there expecting to enjoy good food and good service. read more

Great Ambiance inside with a wine cellar nice bar area and indoor seating. They updated the outdoor seating which was reserved for a private event when we came. Everything we had to eat was great, I would have just liked to have had more vegetarian options on the menu. read more

We usually celebrate special occasions at Xixón Restaurant, and we have always enjoyed our experience there. Today, I took my husband for Father's Day because he loves their seafood paella, which is usually excellent. Unfortunately, today's meal was disappointing. The paella was extremely salty. I bit into a piece of Chicken Flavor Bouillon Cubes, and it was so salty that it overwhelmed my palate. Considering the price we pay for the food, I believe the kitchen should be more careful with seasoning and quality control. We hope this was just an isolated incident, as we have always enjoyed dining here in the past read more

Bad experience in Christmas Eve diner. The service was horrible and they had an especial menu for that day which was not disclosed when I made my reservation. The food was cold and without taste at all apart from taking a long time to serve us. Ambiance was good but the food and the place don't deserve the price. I WOULD NOT recommend spent your time and money here. read more

A surprisingly great dining experience for a last minute large group dinner! My friend's intended birthday venue didn't have enough space for the group, so she spoke to Xixón who were able to prepare a very large table on the second floor. Our server Carlos did a fantastic job getting everyone's orders correctly, opening and serving what seemed like 5-6 bottles of wine attentively to those who were drinking it, and processing multiple bills without issues. When I asked about the Virgin Xixón, he said it was very good because it had fresh fruit juices. He was right: the Virgin Xixón was surprisingly delightful in appearance, with orange juice, pineapple juice layered under strawberry juice. All the juices tasted freshly squeezed, cutely finished with a slice of orange and strawberry. The large size of the glass meant I could keep sipping the glass and have plenty of the drink for the meal. I would have the drink again if I went back while keeping alcohol free! The tapas menu is huge and I'm here for it. There's no way you won't find something that'll work for you, unless you have the unfortunate condition of disliking seafood, beef, ham, potatoes, eggs. We shared a couple tapas and both were cooked freshly and seasoned well. The Carrillera De Buey Al Vino Tinto (beef cheeks in red wine) was so tender and delightful. It did look a little funny because it came under a full layer of fries (crunchy breaded fries, by the way). We couldn't see the bed cheek and had to move the fries for the photo hahaha. The Buñuelos De Bacalao (cod fish fritters) were perfectly crispy and bite sized to pop in the mouth while waiting for the entrees. Many of my friends got steaks, which they all liked, but I got the Fabada Asturiana, a white bean stew with jamon, chorizo and morcilla. It's a Chef Special item that's only offered on Saturdays, and lucky for me, we were there on a Saturday. It was seasoned with just the proper amount of salt, considering the cured meats that were included in the stew, and the thickness of the white bean kept the dish hot and so comforting for a seasonally chilly January night. I took a third of it home and equally enjoyed it later. The one problem I have is that their menu is so big that I'll have to return a few more times to try everything I'm interested in! I'm eyeing their happy hour on Mondays-Thursdays and will go back! read more

We had a last minute restaurant change for a friend's birthday dinner and Xixon was able to accommodate our large party on a Saturday night! We were seated upstairs where we had the area to ourselves which was nice! The staff was super friendly and Carlos was our waiter! He was incredibly attentive and had great recommendations. We ordered two appetizers to share and I really enjoyed the beef cheeks! It was so tender and delicious! As my main entree I ordered the beef tenderloin rare. The tenderloin was okay but I think it was missing some salt! Overall I had a great experience and would come back! read more

It's probably more like a 3.5 stars, but service had a few missed points. Appetizers were a bit better than last time... Croquettes are pretty good and very flavourful. Pulpo a la gallega could improve, and callos a la Madrileña need a lot of work. Very bland and liquidity. The black rice with squid and shrimp was ok... nothing memorable but good. Probably the best thing we ate was the Dorada a la sal. Nicely cooked and seasoning was on point. Prices are reasonable, and ambiance is good. Live music at outdoor dining area on weekends make this an option for those who want more than just dinner. read more

Some of the best Spanish food in Miami. No balalaika players in Rigoletto's outfits (at least during the week.) Large wine list. The menu changes occasionally, but seems to remain basically same over the years. Though I did not have the lunch special, it looked both fast and enticing. The only recent disappointing change was the inclusion of service charge in the check. My favourite choice south of Cafe Seville. Highly recommended. read more

The two stars are for the magnificent Bolero singer guitar player and dancer this weekend evening. We ordered the "Paella Mixta" that was SUPPOSED to have "meat and seafood" in it. However it arrived as an Easter egg hunt. ZERO seafood other than some left-over centimeters bits of calamari and a few clam shells floating around. The ONLY meat in the entire skillet for six SUCKERS was some chewy little niblets of dried-up chicken breast. WHAT A Fricking INSULT. The rice was colorful but that was a trick on the eyes because the mouth tasted NOTHING BUT OIL. In summary, you'd be better off ordering a special fried rice from your local Chinese takeout place for 15 bucks and watching Flamenco on YouTube. Kick your feet up on the table and chuckle at the grift you avoided here. Because this place is taking you and your wallet for a ride. seriously, I don't think they even have seafood or "meat" anywhere on the premises. The server was nice, kind of. FYI: They added 10$ PER PERSON TO OUR BILL FOR "watching the live music/dancer". No warning in advance or when making a reservation. Never in my life have I seen this anywhere. read more

Used to be a family restaurant we have been going to for years for good , authentic Spanish food. Found out is under new ownership, looks terrible, like a dark cave , and hostess kept saying how they changed everything to modernize it , is now more of a night club, , with closed up inside rooms that don't seem right . Menu is smaller, even sangria is a new version they've concocted , full of liquor and little wine. We did not stay . read more

I've been going to this place for many years and it's always been excellent food and service are WOWW they have shows staff is friendly I love it but I. Was a bit disappointed when I went to purchase Ensaladilla Russa and for $12 per serving I was extremely dissapointed. They barely gave me anything it was a personal serving I spend close to $50 and I was so embarrassed when I arrived at the place and barely had for the people. I understand things are expensive but this is really not acceptable it's ripping people read more

I came here for my final meal before leaving Miami and it was absolutely scrumptious! The service was wonderful - our waiter was very attentive and kind. Now onto the food... the shrimp with garlic appetizer was to die for. Although the portion looked small - the flavors were so concentrated and amazing. The shrimp was fresh and juicy. We waited around 30 minutes for the paella which was what the menu said the cooking time would be. It was a humongous portion loaded with huge grains of Spanish rice, tons of calamari, clams, muscles and langostino. The flavor was very rich and well seasoned. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant! read more

My gripe with Xixon is the service more than anything. We came here for a birthday dinner and I made reservations a week in advance. Side note, parking options are limited to street parking or valet. When we got inside the hostess asked me if We wanted to see the show but we opted not to. She then proceeded to ask whether we wanted to sit in the bottom bar area or the upstairs area. There were tables open in the main dining room area which is 100 times nicer than either of the areas she offered us, but because it was our first time here we were thrown off and went with the upstairs area after taking a peek at the downstairs bar area (it's not very cute). Once seated, our waiter came by a few times to get drinks and tapa/entree orders. We ordered a bottle (or two) of a Spanish red which he recommended and it was tasty. We then ordered a bunch of tapas, most notable were the pulpo a la gallega and the chistorras. For mains we ordered a 4-person seafood paella, and it was probably the best paella I've had in Miami. The food was very similar in taste to the food in Spain. I found the prices to be a little high, but we are in Miami and Spanish food here comes at a cost. All in all, I likely would come back BUT insist on sitting in the main dining area. read more

Huge disappointment. Food was good and entertainment was great. After that, it turned into a smoking nightclub. Outside but enclosed. I'm sure it's not legal to be in an enclosed place while so many people are smoking. I have been coming here for years, NEVER AGAIN!!! What a shame We were a party of 12, everyone was there because I suggested the place. How embarrassing to see all my guest feeling overwhelmed with the thick, heavy air filled with cigarette smoke. NEVER AGAIN!!!!! Maybe I should complain and have someone visit the restaurant? read more

Horrible customer service. Canceled our reservation of 9 people when the restaurant was EMPTY! No empathy, nothing. And then their waiters are lost in the sauce. You ask them about an item, and their go to was "let me check with the kitchen" when I asked a basic question about an item on the menu. We left before we even ordered food and the bill was more than a small vacation. Good luck. Ohhhhhh and water basic TAP WATER was 10 dollars. read more

Lousy food, even worse service. Overpriced too. Would NEVER return, even if someone else was paying for it.

The service is great and they are incredibly kind, it's just that for the price the food is not up to standards.

The food was ok; the service not so much. If I had gone there with someone who didn't speak Spanish, we would walk out. From the moment the waitress greeted us at the door to the moment we ordered the food, the waitress spoke Spanish with my husband, totally ignoring me. I don't speak Spanish so I couldn't communicate back as she asked questions (to my husband) and then walked away. She put the menu on top of my silverware in a very dismissive way. How many people have held that menu? The cover was dirty. The pages of the menu are coming undone and some were dirty with smears of food. The waitress spent an enormous amount of time talking to friends and co-workers across the restaurant. By the time she served my wine, I was nearly done with my meal. To top it off, 18% gratuity was automatically included in the final bill. I understand that practice to be done to a large group but it was just my husband and I. We felt that we were being pre-judged because we were not "elegantly" dressed since we were running some errands and decided to stop for some tapas and drinks. Maybe because we were dressed in simpler clothes the waitress thought we wouldn't pay gratuity? Rude! We have spent much more than $150 in a meal and we normally tip better than 18%. We won't come back. read more

Awesome food and service very nice atmosphere went early so we were well attended even though we were a big party

After a long drive to Miami, we were hungry and craving paella. Found this place that had a lot of reviews. We ordered to go. Had to find street parking here. There is definitely a bit of a language barrier, I wish I remembered something from my Spanish classes in school, so I could understand and communicate better. But I will learn for next time. It was pretty pricey for one dish but YOLO. Paella de Mariscos for two people: it was a lot of food, could feed more than two people and we did not finish it. I liked it, had a lot of flavor and I love seafood. He did not care for it so I had to eat it solo. Jamon, Manchego, Chorizo: came vacuumed sealed which was great. This was sooo good. Greasy yes. Great with some wine. Flan: oh my goodness this was so yummy. Thick and creamy. read more

Visited Xixón yesterday & it was a huge disappointment. Waitress did not come back for 20 mins once entrees were delivered so I ate the seared parts since I was hungry and everyone else was almost done eating. When finally asked I let the waitress know the steak was improperly cooked. We had our 4 month old baby and it was getting late so I was not interested in waiting for the steak to be recooked and everyone else was ready for dessert. I told them if they agreed the steak was cooked wrong to take it off the bill. 10 minutes later a food runner turned up w/ the steak after the 2nd attempt to cook it. I humored them and took a bite. The center was cold & the photo is the steak after the re-fire, just imagine the 1st try. The waitress told me the manager said it was cooked fine & there was nothing more she could do. At the end of the meal the steak was on the bill. They dropped off some shots of Sambuca that nobody asked for instead of simply acknowledging the error with the steak. We paid, tipped & I asked to speak to the manager. Armando the manager insisted the photo was of the 1st time they brought the steak & I was lying about the photo being taken after the 2nd attempt at cooking. Armando got loud repeating they recooked the steak & it was fine. I would not recommend spending your hard earned money here. Drink service was terribly slow, poor cooking quality & terrible management by Armando. read more

The food was great, we only order tapas. We order the croquetas, so good. The huevos rotos were great, truly loved the fries. Almost order a paella but between all the tapas there was no room. Went out with my mom and cousin this past weekend . We decided on a little neighborhood gem. Xixon, an authentic Spanish restaurant in the Shenandoah neighborhood. It was a beautiful night and we sat outdoors. They had a wonderful Flamenco show for the evening to enjoy with our meal. We shared a charcuterie board, cod fish croquettes, a paella and topped it off with torrejas (Spanish French toast soaked in sweet cream) accompanied with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was just enough for all three and it was excellent! read more

This place has the best paella and tapas in town. We have visited this restaurant many times and the food is always delicious. We generally order some tapas like frituras de bacalao, pan con tomate and jamón serrano, and boquerones a la vinagreta. For entree, we usually have the paella a la marinera. It is always made to order and flavorful. This is one of our favorite places, make sure you have a reservation on the weekends. read more

We've been to this restaurant quite a few years ago. At that time the restaurant had more of a local with an authentic vibe. Visted last Friday, and was a bit disappointed. My boyfriend and I have visited xixon about three times, and if that doesn't say something about the food service and ambiance, I don't know what does. The food is reasonably priced, and the atmosphere is cozy and private. The service has always been welcoming and relaxed, as well as professional.
