We went to Flight West to celebrate our friend Sylvia's birthday and had such a great experience! The Miami Spice menu was fantastic and honestly everything we tried was delicious. The burrata on bread with the charred Brussels sprouts was incredible, and the mussels were probably some of the best I've had. The sauce was spicy but also a little sweet and completely different from any mussels I've had before. And the hanger steak was AMAZING. So tender and cooked perfectly. Definitely don't skip dessert either! We had the chocolate cake with whiskey and it was delicious. They also have really good bourbon flights, a great Malbec, and an awesome happy hour with $10 wines and discounted cocktails. But what really made the night was the service. Allyson, our bartender, was fantastic and gave us great recommendations. Julia, our server, was super attentive, and Joel, the Operations Director, came over and took the time to explain some of the menu items to us and was just lovely. We went in to celebrate Sylvia's birthday and ended up having such a fun night. Great food, great drinks, great service and a really nice atmosphere. We will definitely be back! read more

New spot alert ! Flight West opened in South Miami this May and it's already got a story worth knowing before you go. Its the Miami expansion of Flight West, a beloved restaurant and bar out of Rochester, NY known for its serious whiskey collection, curated wine program, and hospitality first vibe. The place feels like an elevated dining and cocktail experience from the moment you walk in with a strong bar identity at its core. Let's talk drinks first, because the Juniper was so good I ordered two .. Orange blossom gin, fresh lemon juice, topped with a blackberry foam .. genuinely delicious, easily my favorite of the night. Now for the food, because we came hungry ... We started with the Wagyu tartare which had aioli, puffed quinoa, watermelon, radish, and grilled bread ,absolutely delicious. Then the charred octopus with smoked hummus, which was really tasty, maybe just slightly over on the char side, but the flavor was there. The half shell scallops were the table favorite, a full dozen and every one of them was so good. For mains we split the Flight West burger which was an 8oz Wagyu beef, brie, applewood bacon, arugula, caramelized onions, brioche, plus a side of truffle fries. Incredible. Dessert was the lava cake and churros .. both great, but the lava cake was prob my favorite. Service ran a little slow, but we ended up in a great conversation with Joel, the manager representative who gave us some awesome insight into the story behind the place. Overall an excellent night and this will not be our last visit. Can't wait to go back...And yes, happy hour runs Tuesday-Friday, 5-7pm, so plan accordingly. read more

Fine dining without the crazy price tags! The restaurant is spectacular. From the cozy chairs and warm lighting to the gorgeous bar, nothing was spared in building it. Flight West was soooo gorgeous inside and their drinks were absolutely delicious. I was so excited to be blown away by this place but our first server was just incompetent and ruined our first impression. She asked our party of 4 if we wanted water and forgot the water for half our table. That's not the biggest issue, by the time we got waters it was 35mins after we were seated. She did not take our food orders and was leaning against the walls swiping on her cell phone. I think the other staff members noticed our frustration so another server Savannah (I think) stepped in to take care of us. Thank goodness. So yeah we were finally fed an hour or so after arriving, not ideal. Ended up spending brickell price for slow and mediocre appetizers. Would I recommend this place? Maybe just for cocktails at the bar. read more

5 stars! This place was SO good. Everything we had was full of flavor. I ordered the Ashen Bloom cocktail and it was honestly one of the best cocktails I've had in a while--so good! We also had the fish with the broccolini, and it was amazing. Every bite was super flavorful and cooked perfectly. The service was so attentive without being overbearing, and making a reservation was quick and easy. The whole experience was just really nice from start to finish. I was in the mood for a burger and the $28 Wagyu burger satisfied the craving well. Best truffle fries in Miami, the texture, flavor, crispiness were on point. Chunky and delicious main lobster appetizer. Branzino with coconut rice were delicious. No picture of the churro dessert and ice cream because we dove in too quick. As perfect as the truffle fries. Newest kid on the South Miami block Flight West shines with exceptional service, creative cocktails, and inspired takes on classic menu favorites. While we definitely have had some great dining staples and short term spots, I've never considered South Miami to be a foodie destination. The latest crop of restaurants in the area are rapidly challenging that assertion. Situated next door to Italian rockstar Mano Libera, Flight West has some big shoes to fill in its culinary endeavors with its prime corner location. They're still in their soft opening phase, but have quickly found their footing with their eclectic menu focused on global ingredients with a fusion flare. Our server Savannah (sp) was very sweet along with another server who never hesitated if something was needed. The attention paid to cocktails, presentation, and service was appreciated, and it's a detail I hope the restaurant maintains as they become further established. My husband started with the signature Maduro Old Fashioned, which packed too strong of a punch for my palette, but he loved. The branded ice cube and plantain chip garnish was a fun touch. I wanted something low abv, and asked for a dressed up club soda with St. Germain, cucumber, and lemon, and it was perfection in a wine glass and the perfect refreshing sip. Next time I'll take one of their signature cocktails for a spin. Quite a few of the appetizers were calling my name, but we decided on the calamari. It was well seasoned with the jalapeño aioli, lime zest, and pickled radishes offering a nice brightness to offset the fried squid. We really enjoyed this dish. For entree I had the garlic & herb mussels. They're noted to be served in a citrus herb broth, which if I'm being honest didn't seem like an accurate description. I was expecting something much lighter and herbaceous, but instead the sauce was a sweet umami flavor bomb with surprising smokey notes. They were absolutely delicious! I'm not sure if they changed the recipe post menu, but it was a very pleasant surprise, and I highly recommend trying them. My husband opted for the Madagascar prawns. This is definitely a show stopper on the plate, being one of their largest dishes on the menu, but not my personal favorite (particularly at the price point). The grilled Madagascar shrimp are on a California king size bed of rice bathed in coconut milk and slathered with a Thai inspired tangy coconut curry. The flavors worked really well together but there's only so much rice once can eat, and the two of us struggled to even make a dent. I think lightening the carb load with some sauteed spinach, sugar snaps, or broccolini on the plate would bring some balance. I think also a price point in the $50s may be a little less painful for what is essentially two very large shrimp. While it was very tasty, out of the three dishes we got this is probably the only one we wouldn't repeat in the future. Overall we really enjoyed Flight West and are excited to see more restaurants of their caliber in our cute little neck of the swamp. It's been a long time since a restaurant really rocked my tastebuds so we will definitely be back! read more

Food was delicious. The place looks and feels great. Service was just ok for my experience and it could be better. We were a large group of 8. While the server did her job, the hospitality part could have improved. For example, before saying a flat out "no", she should have the initiative to ask what we were looking for to amass if there could be an accommodation. We were the ones that had to walk her through that and plant the idea to check for options. Which were granted as we requested, so why immediately jump to the "no" part? During the dessert choosing, my wife was super excited about a particular dessert. Talked it over with the server. Ordered it. But forgot to bring it. Very disappointing to my wife that decided not to get it after everyone had their dessert on the table and it would take some time to prepare it. Also they didn't have milk? I find it hard to believe that a restaurant with a full bar did not have milk. Food was great, no complaints there. It was actually delicious everything we had. But service is part of the experience and unfortunately that was lacking which made the price we paid too expensive for what we got and the quality of service we received. Service was excellent and food was tasty. Unfortunately, portions are very small and all sides are à la carte. Found plates to very expensive compared to what you get. Not sure what their target market is. Appetizers ranged from calamari $22 to Seafood tower $170! Burger $22 to Porterhouse $235. We were never offered tap water, only still or gas and paid $9 for a bottle! After that, glasses were filled with tap. The chef and kitchen staff really know their craft. À++. Service was great too. For sure we will be back. One word of warning. The À/C is blasting and Susy was freezing during dinner. First time at Flight West and will definitely return. Yes, the service could use some improvement, but the quality of the food more than makes up for it. We really felt bad for our server, though. She was excellent, but actually seemed to be the only one in the restaurant, apart from the food runners. How is this possible? Are the owners saving a few bucks by doing this? Great food, drinks and service! I tried their Miami Spice menu and everything was sooo good! The octopus with hummus was smokey and flavorful. The branzino was perfectly cooked and had a tasty cilantro sauce on it. For dessert, the churros and vanilla ice cream were delicious. I actually enjoyed the vanilla bean ice cream the most. For drinks, I tried the guava and lychee martini. It was sweet & refreshing. However, the juniper cocktail was amazing! I look forward to returning and trying more dishes! I came here with my coworkers and had such an amazing experience! We found out it was still in its soft launch, and it's already absolutely worth stopping by. Everything we ordered was delicious. The branzino was incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked. It honestly gave me that Ratatouille moment where one bite took me somewhere else. I also tried the tuna tartare, calamari, and the Maine lobster dip, and every dish was packed with flavor.
