Dear friends took my husband and I went to RO Steakhouse to celebrate our anniversary and we were honestly beyond impressed! From check-in, to service, to the food, five stars all around. The martinis were perfectly made, which I really appreciate, and everything we ordered just kept getting better. We tried the branzino and the ribeye chicharrón, and while both were great, the ribeye was definitely the star. We also had the RO Cowboy steak. It comes with two generous pieces of delicious bone marrow. We asked for it cooked medium, and it came out PERFECT. Amazing seasoning, incredible quality, and easily some of the best cut of meat we've had. The sides were just as good. The potato au gratin was rich, creamy, and honestly addictive. The truffle risotto was superb! I wish I had space for more and more, but had to make room for dessert. Dessert completely sealed the deal. Our server recommended the corn-shaped dessert and WOW. It looks exactly like corn but tastes like sweet corn with dulce de leche and vanilla ice cream inside. So unique, slightly mind-blowing, and absolutely delicious. I'd order it again without hesitation. And somehow, the Basque cheesecake was even yummier. So, so good. This is a nice date night spot. The vibes are very chic with lit up walls, dim lights and comfortable seating. The music was pretty loud, upbeat house music, which I liked because I couldn't hear other people's conversations and was able to just vibe. The buzz about this place must still be pretty strong because even with reservations, everyone was asked to wait for tables to clear up. The hostesses kept trying to push the empty outside patio to people and offered the bar as a waiting spot. My husband and I opted to wait at the bar. We sat for a good while and were never acknowledged. After waiting about fifteen minutes or so, we went back to wait for our table to open up sans drinks. Once seated, however, our waitress was very attentive. I believe her name was Tess. We ordered cocktails which were DELICIOUS and two appetizers; the ribeye chicharrón and the bone marrow. They were pretty good, nothing out of this world, but definitely good. Although this restaurant is a steakhouse, their sides were the stars of the night. The Parmesan Truffle Potatoes Au Gratin were absolutely delicious and so was the macaroni! The steaks didn't really measure up to the sides! We got the cafe crusted steak and the ribeye. They were OK. The ribeye wasn't as thick as I normally like it and the fat was a little tough. We were stuffed after eating so many things that dessert wasn't even an option for us, but the restaurant kindly surprised us with a little anniversary dessert. It was such a nice touch and the presentation was beautiful. Overall, I enjoyed this as a date night spot more than anything. I came to see what the buzz was all about. It appears my new neighborhood steakhouse featured a menu with the classic favorites along with a variety of seafood fusion options. We started off w the hamachi tiradito and then split the creamed spinach, potato au gratin & the cafe encrusted steak. The ambience was dimly lit yet the music was a bit overpowering. I will say the steak was tougher than I'd hoped it be but I gave the extra star on my rating for the great service that our waitress Tesla gave us. I'm glad I went with her hamachi recommendation because it was the best dish of the night. The cocktails were amazing (better than the food in my opinion) so it worked out for the dinner plans that night. The bar had an interesting flamelike decor on it which added to the ambience. All ambiance, no substance. That's how I would describe the dining experience we encountered here. Drinks were good, probably the only thing of note. Food was pretty mediocre, the Ribeye Chicharron appetizer looked good but was essentially overcooked meat on top of guac, with a side of tiny tortillas. My New York strip also looked great but also lacked flavor, the roasted garlic and steak sauce were doing the majority of the heavy lifting. And then there was the truffled potatoes au gratin; picture perfect, but were really swimming in an oily broken cheese sauce beneath the crust. I spared you the image. Service was adequate but became snippy when a misunderstanding came up when the bill was asked to be split. There was low lighting, a sleek interior, and music that sets the tone without competing for attention. We started with the ribeye chicharrón, which was a standout. Crispy, rich, and indulgent, it came paired with guacamole and fire-roasted tortillas that added both texture and balance. Easily one of those appetizers you keep thinking about afterward. The Sierra Flame cheese was prepared/finished tableside: melted, twisted, and finished right in front of us. It was warm, savory, and fun without feeling gimmicky, and a great shareable starter. For my main, I had the roasted whole branzino with brown butter, lemon, and capers, which was beautifully executed. Light yet flavorful, perfectly cooked, and a nice contrast to the richer starters. Also shareable. On the side, the Brussels sprouts paired well with the meal and were solid all around. The scallion mac and cheese was good, though not particularly memorable. I've had stronger versions elsewhere, but it didn't detract from the overall experience. Service was attentive without hovering, and the pacing of the meal felt thoughtful and unhurried. Was excited to try this new Mexican steakhouse especially for their Wagyu on the stone dish. Unfortunately, they had run out by the time we arrived, which was surprising for a Wednesday night, not even a weekend. Disappointing, to say the least. We ended up ordering the cowboy steak instead, and it absolutely did not disappoint. It came with bone marrow, was super tender, and perfectly cooked. We paired it with truffle gratin potatoes, which complemented the steak beautifully. For starters, we tried the ribeye chicharron, rock shrimp, and oysters which were all very good . Fast forward to yesterday... we finally made it in, and WOW, was it worth the wait. From the second we walked into RO Steakhouse, we were greeted warmly at the host stand and taken straight to our table. Let's talk ambiance for a second because... MOODY. SEXY. STUNNING. The lighting, the vibe, the energy... it's dark and intimate without feeling stuffy. The bar alone is a showstopper. We were seated in these super comfortable chairs with actual back pillows (10/10 lol my spine was THRIVING). Almost immediately, our waiter Frank came over... and honestly, shoutout Frank because he was AMAZING. Attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful since it was our first time here. I ordered a non-alcoholic cocktail (which was great), and we started with appetizers. We were torn between the ribeye chicharrón and the branzino, and Frank steered us toward the branzino... and THANK GOD he did. Those branzino bites were the STAR of the appetizers. Perfectly crispy little nuggets of fried branzino served with leche de tigre and a red pepper sauce... absolutely unreal. The presentation was gorgeous, and you could tell the fish was cleaned, prepped, and fried to perfection. I'm still thinking about it. The carpaccio? SO good. The kale salad? Listen... this was not a sad kale salad (lol). Raisins, shredded cheese, walnuts, grapefruit, and a vinaigrette that tied everything together beautifully. I don't even remember the exact vinaigrette, I just know it WORKED. For mains, Adam got the RO Cowboy steak, which came with two pieces of bone marrow, and I got the Kansas City steak. We both ordered medium, and they came out PERFECTLY cooked. Perfect seasoning, incredible quality, and honestly some of the best cuts of meat we've had. We kept going back and forth saying, "No, mine's better... wait no, yours is better," because they were that good lol. Sides were equally elite. The potato au gratin (Frank's recommendation again) were some of the best potatoes I've ever had in my life.. rich, creamy, and addictive. The broccolini had a nice kick, and the mushrooms? I'm not even a mushroom person and I LOVED them. Dessert sealed the deal. Frank suggested the corn-shaped dessert, and WOW. Beautiful experience! And a lovely place for a romantic but yummy date. I went for a casual very late lunch and was surprised. We tried a variety of dishes. The rock shrimp with spicy mayo was great. The branzino chicarron was awesome. The truffle potato gratin was extra tasty. The rib eye was melt-in-your mouth delicious. The marrow kissed scallops were so good. Newly opened in the Coral Gables area, Ro Steakhouse provided a whole culinary experience. From the food to the service ( shout out to Yuham, our server), it was an exceptional dinner. I was fortunate enough to try multiple plates for dinner and I would recommend each one + the coconut mojito I ordered first. From the hot starters the sierra flamed cheese is great for those cheese lovers- served with tortilla, it's nice and melty. The branzino chicharrón was so good with the leche de Tigre and I think the portion can definitely be for more than two people. From the cold starters the tuna tataki was fresh and flavorful. From the seafood- the grilled octopus is a must try item. It was one of the best I've had! Moving on to the meats, the fire & bone tacos were a close second to the octopus as my top choice. The plate brings two tacos but they were hearty and I could probably have just eaten that and be okay. Probably not enough for someone that can eat more. As my main dish I ordered the ribeye which was cooked exactly to my liking by the time I got to it, I was already getting full from trying everything else but still I went on to try the asparagus, broccolini and Brussel sprouts as the side dishes. If you have to pick one- do the Brussels sprouts! As far as desserts, they had four options. The cheesecake was a big portion for me and on the sweeter side. It wasn't something I could eat by myself no matter how good it was. The other dessert was the lava cake with pistachio ice cream.... that ice cream was top notch and I could have had that by itself. Once seated, the experience started to fall flat. We were a party of two seated at a table for four; not a big deal, just noting it. Our waiter was nice, nothing memorable or engaging. Appetizers: - Ribeye Chicharrón - arrived cold. - Bone marrow - this was our first time trying it, and there was zero explanation on how to eat it, which would have been helpful. Mains: - Australian Wagyu steak - honestly, don't waste your money. Very meh. The steak wasn't cooked properly, and you can clearly see how uneven the red is throughout the meat (see photos). A good chef doesn't cook steak like that. There's noticeable gray banding, which means the steak likely sat too long on lower heat or wasn't seared properly before finishing. For a high-end steak, that's a miss. Very disappointing. - Spicy rigatoni - hands down the best thing on the menu. (How can you mess up pasta?) We skipped dessert... for obvious reasons. Bathrooms....... Let's talk about the bathrooms... see the photos. There was throw-up in a stall and no toilet paper available in the women's stall. Completely unacceptable. I had it at this point. This restaurant has a lot of potential, but it's missing the overall experience. There's nothing special about this place. I'm really grossed out. This is a new restaurant that has recently opened and was quite impressive. The decor was gorgeous. The entrance to the restaurant was very elegant and the layout was well thought out. We had a larger group and we were able to experience the private dining space. This room was absolutely beautiful and felt very elegant and cozy at the same time. My guests also liked that we had our own private bathroom. This was well thought out and a nice addition to the space. Our waiter, JC (Juan Carlo) was amazing. Everyone's glass was always full. His food suggestions were on point and he was very available to assist us. Sometimes with large groups, when the tip is already included, the service is not what you would hope it to be but JC was excellent!! Having a large group, everyone ordered different things. We tried a few appetizers and then ordered steaks, branzino, hamburger, pasta, etc. I had the octopus. I was impressed with the octopus as usually when you order it, the portion size is small. This portion size was very generous. We also ordered sides for the table which included the mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts and truffle fries. Everything was delicious. Everyone was commenting about how much they enjoyed their food. We were all so satisfied with dinner, we decided to share dessert. We ordered the Dubai chocolate molten lava cake, and an ice cream dessert that looks like corn on the cob but actually has dulce de leche inside. It was definitely worth a try and very creative. What a great addition to Coral Gables! Ro is their second location in the US after establishing themselves with three different restaurant brands across Mexico. When you walk into the restaurant host area you feel as if you're transported somewhere else. The decor of the restaurant is dark (black walls) with dim lighting and various natural elements like wood, fire and metal - all meant to make you feel as if you're in an underground mine. We ordered The Werillo (espresso martini style cocktail) and 100 Fuegos (spicy margarita style cocktail), which were both tasty and nicely presented. For starters, we had the hamachi tiradito and octopus carpaccio. Both were fresh and included Mexican ingredients like jalapeños on the tiradito and guajillo chiles on the carpaccio in the form of a guajillo sauce, giving it a unique and delicious flavor. We're ribeye people and decided on the 16 oz ribeye and ribeye cap (size based on how much they have at the restaurant at the time the order is placed ) medium and sliced, with a spicy rigatoni to share. The steaks were cooked as requested and the roasted garlic and non-spicy chili sauce to put on your steak as you'd like was a really nice touch! We ended the evening with the vasco cheesecake, which was perfectly creamy like the original you'd get in northern Spain. Our server Rey was really helpful guiding us through the menu and providing recommendations and really added to the great experience we had at dinner. Dined tonight for Christmas dinner. Lots to share... the good, the bad, and everything in between. The hostess was our first encounter walking in. So not friendly or welcoming. The server, very nice. The food- our appetizers were delicious! The bread & butter were so good! The tuna tartar, the ribeye chicharron with corn tortillas, the hamachi tiradito, and the oysters were all delicious! The server suggested them and he was right on the money! Our main meals- the spicy pasta, the octopus, the burger, and the skirt steak were all great! The mushrooms and Brussels were also on point. Unfortunately the Wellington was over cooked and had to be returned. The ribeye was cold and also had to be returned. We ordered truffle fries and they forgot to bring them. Very disappointed with the lack of consistency in the kitchen. The corn dessert was definitely different and a must try. The drinks were good when you received what you ordered. The espresso martinis were good, as were the dirty martinis. Great wine selection as well. It's annoying to have them bring variations of what you order... coke vs Diet Coke and some other rum vs. Bacardi. We noticed the difference immediately! They were happy to change it but it shouldn't have happened in the first place. Note, they charge for water (tacky). Now for the most disappointing part of the night.. our original reservation was for 9:15pm (that's the earliest they could accommodate our party of 7). Thankfully we were able to move it up to 8:15 by calling. When we arrived the restaurant had only a handful of tables occupied, definitely not full. And mid meal our server comes to tell us "last call"! Totally unacceptable! Had we kept the original 9:15pm reservation we would have been served perhaps 2 drinks?? This "last call"announcement is a a sure way to keep us from coming back. The restaurant is beautiful and our server was nice but the inconsistency in the kitchen, bar and last call for drinks mid meal was a huge disappointment. The seating is very comfortable and the ambiance cozy(perfect for eating) low playing music. When I go to a fancy steakhouse I expect one of two things, either an excellent steak, or excellent service This place had neither Ordered the NY Strip and Mac & Cheese for whatever it's worth, steak was way over salted, Mac & Cheese had so much oil I am surprised we have not invaded it yet If you are looking for somewhere to show off on instabook or facegram though this is for sure a great spot for that! Ro definitely surpassed my expectations. I chose this place to celebrate my birthday and given the large group was provided with the private room. From the moment you get there you feel welcomed. Our server Yuham and his helper went above and beyond!! They were so friendly and made wonderful drink suggestions. Everything was exquisite, from the starters to the dessert, drinks and the ambiance. Thank you to Ro and their team for making my birthday such a magnificent experience. Food was cold upon arrival to our table. 3 in our party of 10 ordered our steaks medium well and they came medium rare and cold. Courteous waiter took steaks to be cooked medium well and served hot to be presented with burned steaks. Waiter was not attentive to refilling water glasses or requested drinks. We were given complimentary Champaign and one desert. Overpriced for this type of received service received. Very nice ambiance. read more
