She's spicy and Ferrero espresso martini
    Alexa F.

New place so I thought it would be full but it wasn't at all on a Saturday at like 10:45. Happy hour is also on the weekends from 10:30 to close. Took a while for them to come up to us and give us water/take orders. The she's spicy was very good as was the coco loco. The Ferrero espresso was just a normal espresso with the Ferrero on the rim, it was alright. Would not get the truffle fries again bc they didn't have much flavor at all. I prefer skinny fries and these were like steak fries. They were also out of the truffle aioli it comes with. I saw online they are open until 2 am but they told us the kitchen was closing at like 12 and right after said it was last call for drinks. Was odd.

This review is for their happy hour. They have two slots 3-6 and 10 to close. We came in for their Ferrero Rocher Espresso Martini and it was everything we thought it would be. And it's on the happy hour menu which is a win. We also tried the truffle fries which were super good and thickly cut. Our servers Erick and Julian were so attentive and fun. We had a blast. Can't wait to come back and try their regular menu and another martini. Of course. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated with corner windows facing coconut grove. Very nice ambiance.

Excellent brunch option! Kayla was the best server form start to finish. Bottomless Mimosa for $25 is worth it and you can pick from many different flavor options for juice - mango, passion fruit, orange or pineapple. Food - Parker roll is a great starter with the honey butter spread. Blueberry pancakes are fluffy and delicious. (Similar to Japanese pancakes); Steak and Eggs is worth the price for quality meat and its NY strip; smoked turkey and avocado club is huge portions and the burger is a solid choice. Highly recommend and entire staff was amazing. I will be back for Miami spice (there is a Miami spice brunch option)

Not many new restaurants open up & hit it out of the ballpark in a week's time w/their service, food & libations!!! Our server/bartender Illya was absolutely amazing! Patient, entertaining, charismatic with our whole group. And we were a rowdy bunch - classy but rowdy! We ordered almost every item on their late hour HH menu - HH at 10PM in the Grove!??!?!? It's been a long time since those days (Fat Tuesdays anyone)! But they had it in check! Bang bang Chicken bites give you an instant lip lift w/their sweet & VERY spicy glaze. So so good. The Roma Margherita Pizza w/Stracciatella was so crispy, warm & cheesy! Oh my word... And their Dragon Roll was a perfect bite to end the night. For my cocktail I had the White Lies which contained gin, bitters, vermouth & I added a shot of St. Germains. Everything about this spot screams potential! The hostesses were also so very sweet & engaging - I cannot wait to be back!

Illa from a grand public made the best drinks and Jean Paul provided the best service as well. They have happy hour at 10 pm I recommend to come and check out the amazing Ambiance at this place. Hidden but super cute and low key for a cute date night.

We celebrated Father's Day at Grand Public with my husband, dad, and father-in-law; a party of 11 including 3 kids. We were seated immediately, which was appreciated, but the table was too small for our group and we had to pull over an extra chair ourselves from a neighboring table. Shortly after being seated, water from the A/C began dripping on my head. When I brought it to the staff's attention, they offered to move us to another table, but with a group of 11 we preferred to stay put. I asked them if they would clean the area instead, which resolved the issue for the rest of our meal. What surprised me most was that, on Father's Day, not a single staff member acknowledged the fathers at our table. No "Happy Father's Day," no small gesture, nothing. It felt like a missed opportunity, especially on a holiday centered around celebrating dads. Another disappointment was discovering that only the brunch menu was being served. This was not disclosed when I made the reservation. Had I known, I would have booked an earlier time or chosen a different restaurant. To make matters worse, there was no kids' menu. With brunch items mostly over $20 and not particularly kid-friendly, feeding children became unnecessarily expensive. The value simply wasn't there. I ordered a turkey sandwich for $27 with no side included. It was dry, so I asked for additional aioli and was instead given a dijonnaise that clearly wasn't the same sauce as what was on the sandwich, and then charged $3 for it. We were also charged $2 for extra honey butter after the original portions served with the Parker rolls were removed from our table. The nickel-and-diming felt excessive. Pricing throughout the menu seemed inconsistent. A burger was $24 and included fries, while a $27 turkey sandwich came with nothing, and fries were an additional $7. As for the food, my family enjoyed their breakfast items, but nothing on the lunch portion of brunch stood out as exceptional except the Parker rolls, which were easily the highlight of the meal. The cocktails were enjoyable, particularly my Peacock Spritz and my husband's Spicy Watermelon margarita. Lastly, we waited about 10-15 minutes after our meal for our waiter to bring a dessert and coffee menu. He never came back and eventually I flagged him down and asked for the check, which is when I found out about the sauce costs. I paid and we walked down the street for dessert and coffee. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a special Father's Day celebration left us disappointed. We chose this restaurant because we have seen great reviews, but it just wasn't a good experience for us.

I was very impressed with Grand Public. The restaurant is nice and spacious. The staff is proper and friendly. If you are wondering what to order. Definitely the bread buns. They are amazing 100/10. The tuna tartare was delicious as well. The steak and sushi are good. After appetizers and sushi there was an extreme gap of time before the main course of steak and pasta came. Other than that, I had a great experience. The drink menu looked delicious as well so I will definitely be coming back try.

We went for Happy Hour and it was amazing. The cocktails were spectacular and the menu choices were so delicious. The bartenders were so friendly and helpful with our choices and recommendations. It was a laid back and relaxed atmosphere.

Grand public was incredible for a night cap and delicious bites! The hostesses were a dynamic duo who welcomed us with great energy, enthusiasm and hospitality. The bar was full so we grabbed a table right across from it, ordered the entire late night happy hour bites and some cocktails. The Ferrero Rocher martini was decadent and the watermelon martini was excellent! This feedback was from my friends who drink. I had water. Now for the bites; the tiradito was AMAZING and my top pick. The pizza was a close second. The dragon roll was really good but slight heavy (for me) on the sauce. The fries were too thick and were sent back because they were undercooked and when they came back it was well cooked but still too thick. The bang bang chicken was not our favorite. The sauce was heavy and I would have preferred it to be a buffalo sauce instead. With that being said, you can't beat the prices and ambiance. The decor is bougie and bright. I loved it! The bathroom was clean and nice also. This is the spot and certainly a vibe. Check them out and enjoy!

What a gem of a restaurant!!! We were impressed by the amazing service and our waiter, Eric went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. The rolls that we ordered were the BEST we've ever had. They were so good that we ordered an extra order with our dessert. I ordered the lobster ravioli which really was delicious. Every bite was a delight. My husband ordered the steak and fries and it was also exquisite. The atmosphere was very nice and they had a DJ playing great music. We highly recommend this restaurant we we can't wait to return.

Hands down the best restaurant in Miami. Went to the grand opening and everything was amazing and then again came again for lunch and everything was superb. The food the ambiance and more importantly the service. Every worker was quick to be attentive and the food was delicious. I will be coming again and again. A must try in Miami!

The special touches do not go unnoticed! Violet spritz à la Coconut Grove!!

The Beso de Fuego cocktail is a must-try if you like spicy tequila passion fruit drinks, and the dates, frito mixto, and salt cod croquettes were cooked beautifully. While it's a bit pricey (expected for Coconut Grove real estate), the main thing to note is the ambiance: it plays pretty loud house music. If house isn't your genre, it can feel a bit noisy. Unfortunately, they sat us in the most uncomfortable table and chair set up in the restaurant. In the middle, they have these very short tables with uncomfortable stools and chairs that make dining awkward. Not to mention, that two of these tables are so close together that my friends and I were bumping elbows and touching the backs of the other dining guests in the table right behind us. And, to make matters worse, we not only had to be in an uncomfortable and tight space with the guests behind us, but we had to endure their yelling almost in our ears the entire time because the music in that restaurant is extremely loud. Music can be loud, but it is to the point where you cannot even hear yourself when speaking or you can only hear the other guests yelling. Suggestions to restaurant management, get rid of the awkward, short tables and chairs, or ask guests when they're making the reservation if they want to sit in that type of setting. Also, you may want to separate those type of tables and stools because they are WAY too close for comfort. And, consider bringing down the music level a few decibels.

My friend and I waited near the hostess stand for a bit and felt overlooked as everyone was understandably focused on the situation. A simple "hello, welcome, we'll be right with you" would have gone a long way. Having worked in hospitality for many years, I know things happen behind the scenes, but guest communication is so important. After a short wait, the manager stepped in, apologized, and got us seated, which I really appreciated. From that point on, the service was excellent. Everyone was attentive and helpful, and I especially want to shout out the food runner, who was personable and made a great impression. One thing that could have been handled better: our server took our drink order but never mentioned happy hour. When we later asked for the menu, we were told it was only available at the bar. Since I use a wheelchair for mobility, getting onto a bar stool would have been difficult, so I felt that a more accessible accommodation should have been offered. You'll see in my video I was the 4 top right next to the bar. That said, the food was good, and I still had a nice time with my friend. With just a little more attention to communication and accessibility, this could have been an even better experience.

Before going, we called the restaurant to ask if they would be showing the World Cup games, and we were told they would be showing all of them. Based on that, we expected a good viewing experience. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. There aren't enough TVs, many of the views are obstructed, and we actually had to move to the bar just to see part of the game. Even then, the music was so loud that we couldn't hear the match at all. When we asked the manager about it, he told us that ownership's instructions were to play music instead of the game's audio. That was especially surprising considering this is a Mexican-owned restaurant and the match was a Mexico World Cup game. The biggest disappointment, however, was the service. To be fair, the restaurant was only about half full, so this wasn't a situation where the staff was overwhelmed by a packed house or unusually heavy demand. I was there with two female friends. I ordered a martini while my friends simply asked for water. The bartender reacted as if asking for water was somehow an inconvenience. We weren't even served chips and salsa until we repeatedly waved down members of the staff and specifically requested them. The bartenders consistently ignored us. My friends waited nearly 20 minutes before anyone came back so they could order their martinis. We later ordered guacamole and the Leña skirt steak. The guacamole arrived promptly, but the steak never did. When we asked another bartender to check on it, he looked in the system and told us there was no food order entered at all. This was unbelievable because the original bartender had described the dish, asked how we wanted the steak cooked, and appeared to take the order. He simply never entered it. When we complained to the manager about the missing food, he told us the kitchen was already closed but that he would "make an exception" and have the steak prepared for us. That response really upset me because this wasn't us asking for special treatment--it was the restaurant trying to correct its own mistake. I told him to simply cancel the order. He then said not to worry because he wouldn't charge us for it, as if not charging for a meal would somehow make up for the experience we had just endured. I declined the offer, but he responded by saying he would bring it anyway and that if we didn't want it, we could just leave it there. To me, that response was even more dismissive and completely missed the point. Throughout the evening, the bartenders were inattentive, dismissive, and consistently rude. Their attitude completely overshadowed what had always been one of my favorite restaurants in Coconut Grove. By halftime, we had simply had enough. Instead of continuing what should have been a fun night, we decided to leave the restaurant and go home, where we watched the rest of the Mexico match in the comfort of my home. Sadly, that turned out to be the best part of the night. I'm writing this review because I know Koko is capable of much better. My previous visits have always been enjoyable, which made this experience even more disappointing. However, if you're planning to watch a World Cup match there, I would strongly recommend choosing another venue. While they may tell you they'll be showing the game, the viewing experience is poor, the game audio is replaced with loud music, and based on our visit, the service was, without question, the worst I've experienced there since the restaurant opened. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously because Koko has always been one of my favorite restaurants, and I'd like to be able to recommend it again. Unfortunately, after this experience, I simply can't.
