Nestled in Wynwood, the restaurant has a chic yet welcoming atmosphere with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. It's the kind of place that feels lively without being overwhelming. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality stood out. Every staff member was warm and attentive, and our server, Radomere, truly elevated the experience. Managing a party of 12 is no easy task, yet everything flowed seamlessly. He was attentive, personable, and made sure our celebration felt special from start to finish. With a group our size, we took full advantage of the menu. We shared oysters, escargot, crispy artichokes, leeks, beet salad, French onion soup, tuna carpaccio, steak tartare, and a beautifully curated cheese platter. Every appetizer arrived impeccably presented and packed with flavor. It was one of those rare meals where every dish earned compliments around the table. The cocktails and wine were just as enjoyable especially the dirty martinis, which were a hit with our group. For the main course, we ordered everything from the cheeseburger and mussels to the lemon pasta, spaghetti, steak, and chicken. Once again, every plate was beautifully executed and, more importantly, absolutely delicious. There wasn't a weak link in the meal. Dessert was the perfect finale. The dark chocolate mousse was rich, silky, and easily my favorite, though the profiteroles and lemon tart were excellent as well. Great food is one thing, but when you pair it with exceptional service, it makes for a memorable dining experience. I was really excited to try Pastis after hearing so much about it, but unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to the hype. The Good: The restaurant itself is beautiful. The ambiance is vibrant and has a lovely, authentic French feel. The host was very welcoming and made a great first impression when we walked in. The Food: Given the reputation, we expected the kitchen to deliver, but most of the dishes fell flat: French Onion Soup: Just okay nothing special compared to other versions I've had. Artichoke with Aioli: Good! The aioli had great flavor and was easily the highlight of the savory dishes. New York Strip Steak: Very disappointing. It lacked flavor, felt dry, and was just "whatever." Pastis Burger: Like the steak, it was underwhelming and missed the mark on flavor. Crème Brûlée: Saved the ending it was executed well and tasted great. The Service: Our server was polite enough, but completely disengaged. He didn't offer any suggestions or attempt to sell any specials we had to ask all the questions ourselves. What really brought the experience down was the service and how an issue with our table was handled. We made a reservation well in advance for a party of six to celebrate a birthday. Once we were seated, we realized water was dripping from the ceiling directly above our table. We asked if it would be possible to move, and our server said he would check. Instead of moving us, they brought over a ladder, asked us to stand up and move our drinks so water wouldn't drip into them, and then had someone wipe the ceiling with a mop right above our table before seating us back in the exact same spot. It honestly felt cheap-looking and unprofessional, and it wasn't what I expected from a restaurant with this reputation. Even if there weren't any tables available at that moment, I would have appreciated being told, "We'll move you as soon as another table opens up." We would have gladly waited. Instead, we spent the meal hoping water wouldn't start dripping again. The food absolutely lived up to the hype, but the way this situation was handled was disappointing. Customer comfort should come first, especially for guests celebrating a special occasion with a reservation that was booked in advance. Had such a delicious Friday lunch at Pastis in Wynwood with a work colleague. The entire experience was fantastic from start to finish. We started with a few appetizers including the tuna carpaccio, which was absolutely outstanding and literally melted in your mouth, steak tartare, and the true star of the show the crispy artichoke. Went here for Easter brunch today and reserved a spot on the garden patio. We had the same server as when we were there in Dec 2024 but of course he didn't recognize us haha. But he was as friendly and attentive as our last visit. I enjoyed this visit so much on the patio. It had the feel of an outdoor cafe in France (not that I've ever been there, but it was what I imagine). I had a cappuccino, and I have to say this was the real deal. It had the perfect strength and flavor. The bread we started off with was soft and was so delicious with a swipe of the butter. I ordered the French Onion soup hor d'oeuvres and my husband, who isn't a huge French onion soup fan, also loved it. I ordered pancakes which is a rarity for me, as I usually prefer savory. But these were so fluffy and perfect. I ate barely 1 1/2 bc I was so full by then (it came with 3). My daughter's French toast was delicious and really soft. My husband ordered an omelet, and I forgot to ask him how it was, but he devoured it. I also had a mimosa after my coffee. The mimosa was perfect as well. We had such a nice time here and cemented my love for Pastis. I will say that I would prob only go for lunch if I was looking for lighter fare (maybe coffee and croissant etc) or was nearby abs liked the ambiance. We live quite a ways south so I would prob save my next trip to Pastis for dinner because I keep thinking about our last visit. It was Valentine's Day, and on a Saturday, so I was terrified to eat out because the food and service tends to lack with the overwhelming demand. But.....I was extremely surprised by everything. My martini was perfect, the food was delicious, and the service was impeccable. We started with oysters and steak tartare for appetizers. Both were exceptional, I will crave that tartare for a while. Then we shared the skirt steak frites with a side salad. I can't even tell you what our favorite bite was because every single dish, yes even the side salad, was just perfect. The server was so attendant and kind. I don't think my water glass was ever below halfway. The restaurant is beautiful, dimly lit and decorated gorgeously. My friends and I recently checked out Pastis, a French restaurant in Miami, and honestly, it's a really cute spot--with both indoor and outdoor seating. We dined outside, and the atmosphere is cozy, almost like sitting on a little European terrace. Charming and relaxed. Service was a bit hit-or-miss. The reception was welcoming, but once we were seated, it sometimes felt like we were a bit of a bother. The bread basket took 20 minutes to arrive, and even though we mentioned we were celebrating a birthday, there wasn't much acknowledgement--other tables were sung to, but not us. While I can't say for certain, it did feel like the service we received was different from other tables, and it seemed influenced by the fact that we were the only black people in the restaurant. It's not about the bread or dessert itself, but about consistent, attentive service for all guests. We started with onion soup and burrata. The onion soup was rich, savory, full of flavor, and so comforting--definitely a great way to start the meal. The burrata was fresh and creamy, though we had to ask for baguettes to go with it, and it took a while for them to come, which left us waiting to fully enjoy the dish. I tried the Miami Mango mocktail (passionfruit & mango puree, lemon, grenadine, tonic). It was very tart and leaned more toward passionfruit than mango--not my favorite, but if you like tart drinks, it might be for you. For mains, we had: Gratin au Macaroni with Ham Spaghetti Bolognese Chicken Paillard with Almonds & Picholine Olives Linguine Vongole Boeuf Bourguignon with Frites The Chicken Paillard was seasoned but the combination of the salty olives and the acidity of the lemon made the dish extra salty.The salad was fresh but topped with parmesan which is also salty didn't help balance it. If you order this, go with mashed potatoes for a better balance. The macaroni and ham was creamy with a good texture but also on the salty side. The Bolognese was fresh, but nothing spectacular. The highlight dish was definitely the Boeuf Bourguignon with mashed potatoes-- tender, buttery, and basically melted in my mouth. The mashed potatoes were light, airy, and creamy--truly a perfect combo. If you try one thing, make it this. For dessert, I had the Crème Brûlée, which had a perfect caramelized top and thick, creamy texture. Flavor-wise, it was a little mild--more milky than rich--and could have had more depth. Parking is easy: street parking is available, or valet is $25 if you're not a member. Overall, Pastis has a charming vibe but a few overly salty plates, inconsistent service, and slightly overpriced menu items keep it from being perfect. As soon as you walk in you feel like you're somewhere in the coast or south of France. I sat at the bar, got a glass of Chardonnay and opted for these dishes...steak tartare, cheeseburger and creme brûlée for dessert. Steak tartare is a 20/10, arguably one of the best I've had in the city but that cheeseburger became one of the best in town. I don't know if it's the secret sauce or that fluffy sesame bun or the perfect blend in the patty but I went into foodgasm when I took the first bite...OMG. Second visit I got to try the escargot and that was definitely one of those dishes that I would come back for time after time. The French would be proud of this dish for sure. A cheeseburger, the chicken paillard which is also served with nuts so be sure to mention if you have an allergy. Lastly the 12 piece oyster that were served fresh with dips and lemon but we had to request rock salt and the Le Grand Aioli which was also light yet filling. The Le Grand is served with asparagus, boiled egg, radishes and potatoes all chilled with smoked salmon and shrimp. The smoked salmon didn't have a Smokey flavor to it but it was delicious when dipped in the olive tapenade and other dips served with the platter. I've tried both the pancakes and French toast and have to opt for the pancakes. The French toast was good but a bit undercooked. Both are also great portions and good flavors. Fresh bread is brought to the table - you can never go wrong with that! I've also ordered mimosas and enjoyed them. Food has been fresh. I've tried their ice cream/gelato and they've been quite tasty. I love the decor of the restaurant both inside and outside. It feels like a little oasis in the Wynwood area. Stand outs were the quiche, artichoke and pancakes...so fluffy! We went with our two boys and the staff was great with them. Ambiance is very nice with a classy energetic French bistro vibe, but when I sat down to dine I was asked for a credit card to secure the tab!! This was a buzz killer for me even though my server said this was their policy. Never have I ever been asked this at a fine dinning resturaunt. The bread was yummy, the butter whipped to the perfect spreading viscosity and the wine selection is healthy. I ordered a seafood platter called the "Petit Plateau" which a medley of oysters, shrimp, clams and lobster. The oysters and clams were not as fresh as their high price. I ended up not eating them. Then for dessert the server added 20% to my check, borderline "tourist trap" move. All in all it was just OK. I probably would not spend my money here a second time. 3 STARS! read more
