What happens when you get a few hungry Yelpers together at an event that's just run out of food? They get a little feisty and move along to the nearest place with food. So yeah, that's what happened at the last event (before the Slater's gorge fest). I believe there were a total of 9 of us and we were a little drunk off of Maker's Mark so we need something to get sober. Twisted Vine was a mile away in Downtown Fullerton. I got hopelessly lost driving around trying to find this place. Hello! No sign or anything and it's late at night. Luckily there's parking at the ACE Hardware and the public lot nearby for 3 hours. Inside, this is a tiny wine bar. We all got seating in the back and split a few appetizers. I was fond of the ooey gooey grilled cheese with the creamy tomato soup. Yum! My next favorite was the brie cheese dip with toasted bread, and we topped the night with a pesto chicken pasta dish which needed some salt. Overall very fun night with a few close Yelp friends. I'll have to come back here and try their wine selection and more of their food. read more

Twisted Vine is an unexpectedly classy wine bar in downtown Fullerton. My friend suggested we meet here for drinks. There was a decent crowd for a Thursday night, which made me glad it wasn't a busier one - securing table or couch seating on a busier night would have been a challenge. Even with the crowd, the bar's acoustics made conversation reasonable, and I still had my voice the next morning. Love the ambiance: brick-tones, dark woods, and cork-covered menus mix to create Twisted Vine's own cozy flavor. Candlelight accents keep the place from becoming too dim, yet dim enough for a romantic rendezvous. Can't speak to their wine selection - I had asked our server for a recommendation - but wine bottles are everywhere, along with wine-related merchandise. After I told server Scott I'd been drinking reds all day, he recommended a Ramsey cloret. I accepted. It was divine, soothing, and quite quaffable.[1] Twisted Vine's kitchen closed early, so I missed their famous brie bread bowl. Next time! [1] I was a bit surprised to see my glass was $16 - yes, sixteen dollars. I don't mind paying for vino, but a polite warning would have been appreciated. NOW THAT'S A FIRST FOR ME.. but i don't know how productive you'll be if you make that substitution the twisted vine was a great place to "WINE"d down & do some summer relaxing!! (although i came in the afternoon on a weekday & it was completely empty SO i'm not sure how this place gets at night or on weekends!) THE STAFF IS SO KNOWLEDGEABLE, there is a HUGE SELECTION of wines, they've got little appetizers, & of course you can sample the wines before you commit to buying a glass or bottle!! It made my life so much easier knowing that I could trust him every step of the way and he kept up with everyone's requests. My very first event couldn't have gone any better and I know it was in large part do to Jeff and his attention to detail and attentiveness. From the start he emailed me to get the details of our event and it's purpose. Of course we had a tentative itinerary but people run late and get hungry and he just rolled with it keeping me in the loop of people's requests and changing the timing of things we had talked about to keep everyone happy. I attended a gorgeous bridal shower at this venue and what an amazing space! First of all, the place is gorgeous. Exposed brick, dark wood and modern fixtures in the right kind of dark & sexy lighting is the perfect backdrop for a little wine-ding down. Second of all, the food was out of this world! I loved the fresh salads and pasta dish they served; the food was flavorful and all of the vegetables were crisp, ripe and perfect. Third, they had a mimosa bar.......wait this deserves it's own paragraph! They had a lovely mimosa bar set out with carafes of different juices and fresh berries/garnishes. It was fun to take my champagne glass and fill it up with the right juice/champagne combination for me then pop in a berry or two. I'm not sure if they do a mimosa bar all the time but I did see a sign that they would have one on Mother's Day and that gave me pause as I considered moving our Mother's Day plans here;) Fourth, the people were SO nice! I was really impressed with how they handled such a crowd with just a couple people. I will definitely be back to hang out! Most of the food I tried of the many times I visited are good with a couple of hit and misses. Their wine list is decent and you can find some good wines at a decent price. After 23 years of living, I can finally say I went to a wine bar specifically for drinks (no food ordered). I'm not a wine snob so i wouldn't know the difference between any wine except if it was a dry wine, semi sweet or dessert wine! Still, it was a great experience for our party of 6 on a Friday evening. We were lucky enough to score the last indoor table reserved for a party of 6 plus. Half couch, half chairs. Steal the couch cause its super comfy =) Staff was attentive and friendly. We were given some recommendations, got all our questions answered and even had the opportunity to sample a few before settling on a red semi-sweet and white dessert wine (obv for me). My favorite wine bar in Orange County! My friend and I always drop by this joint every time we are craving some wine and good food! The atmosphere is chill and relaxed. Love the ambience! The staff are friendly and helpful if you need recommendations. I pretty much tried almost everything on the food menu. Personal favorites are the Baked Brie, Cheese platter, and Turkey Panini. Their pasta dishes were exceptionally good but recently they are a little bland. I think the chef might have changed? As for wine, my friend and I usually get the Pago Florentino Tempranillo because we love it and know we won't be disappointed! I love Twisted Vine! If I had to grade this place.. this would be their grade: Food: A+ Ambiance: A+ Location: A+ Wine: A+ Service: B (depends on the day) Came here with my girlfriends twice. Every time I come here, there's always 5 of us. The location is perfect in DT fullerton. They have parking in the back and a back entrance. The ambiance is dark, romantic, and just very soothing. Decor is great. I love the wine shelf with the display of all various wines. Service was okay. The last time we went, which was last weekend, we came here for a Sunday dinner and it was basically empty. In the beginning to middle of dinner, the waiters were amazing.. to the point where it was getting a little annoying because I don't think they knew that two of them were checking up on us. However, once it was time to get our check and give them our check.. we had to hunt them down. I had to go up to them to ask and give the check to them. Food: things I ordered - all these dishes were shared between all girls.. we at least ordered 3-4 dishes each visit. *Baked Brie (13) - mouth drooling yumilious! This is a must! the baked brie is so soft and cooked just right. The brie with the sour dough is perfection! It also comes with toasted pieces of bread and apples, which is delicious. Once you were done with most of the brie, they use to take the brie back to the kitchen and cut it for you, but now they don't due to health and food regulations. So, they give you a knife and you have to cut it yourself. *Garlic Basil Pasta(11) - It was good and tasteful. We all liked it. You can definitely taste the garlic and basil. * Chipotle Pasta (11) - enjoyed it. Liked the sun dried tomatoes and the sauce was thick and good. * Cilantro Salad (9) and Antipasto Salad (9) - the salads are good. It is very favorful. The Cilantro's dressing is thick. If you like less dressing, ask for it on the side. The portion is fair and the ingredients are large pieces. ** food can be on the heavy side, so family styling it is recommended. Overall, this is a place where we love to go to, especially because of the atmosphere. The service however can be better, especially at the end of the meal. If you're looking to be gluttonous, order the Baked Brie, you won't be disappointed and you can thank me later. Tricia is absolutely my favorite bartender in the history of ever. Her sense of humor and character are unparalleled and she makes me feel valued as a customer and a person. Came here with a friend (s/o Rachel) because we wanted to dress up and be cute and drink wine. Well, it's super casual so don't be too extra. We weren't really sure what wine to get and our waiter, I forget his name, had offered samples and suggestions. He was great. He also explained the menu and their seasonal wines and I felt very educated. I opted for the Stella Rosé and I forget what my friend got. I also convinced her to order the Baked Brie even though she was a little hesitant on never having it before. I was a little nervous it wouldn't be a good first experience but Twisted Wine delivered. Plus, wine and cheese right? The bread was filed with ooey gooey cheese and bread that was perfectly toasted. The green apples were tart and helped offset the decadent creaminess of the Brie. It was, simply put, a good time. We came on a Friday night, thinking it would be a long wait, around 8 pm but we were seated immediately. We also found street parking right next to the establishment. My husband and I recently visited Twisted Vine because this was one of our favorite hangouts when we still lived in Orange County. We recently got back to OC and thought we'd visit. It's been about three years since we've been back. We first noticed that the ambiance didn't seem the same, and the seating had changed. The whole facility was changed to tabletops, and the chairs were so uncomfortable that I couldn't stay because my back was killing me. We were so disappointed. What happened to the lounging area? Located in the bustling (and sometimes nauseating) downtown fullerton, Twisted Vine is set just enough off the beaten path to spare you from feeling like one of the college kids looking for a vodka red bull for $3. Still close to parking and the shops though, so walking around before or after your visit is definitely doable. Although, after wine and cheese you may want a nap...maybe that's just me. Front and rear entrances, casual ambiance, friendly staff and delicious food and beverage. What more could you ask for? Charcuterie? Check. Beer? Check. Dessert? Check. Wine club? Double check. If you're looking for a quiet lunch, an intimate date night, or a comfortable place to enjoy a flight with friends, Twisted Vine should be at the top of your list. Affordable and informative, not many places like this exist. Take advantage and don't take it for granted. Get the damn Brie. read more

Came here on a Friday night around 7:45pm! We had to wait about 10 minutes and was then seated outside. It was a cool night so sitting outside was perfect. I'd prefer it than inside because it is a bit noisy in there, whereas outside, its more calm and pretty with the twinkling lights :) I sorta had a tummy ache before I got here and so did my cousin but we planned to come here so it was a must! No wine this time since the alchy is not good for the tummy but we did order some awesome food! Baked Brie ($13)- Creamy Brie cheese baked in a sourdough bowl, served with toasted bread and apples for dipping. I am not that big of a cheese person but OMG! This was completely out of this world! The cheese was hot and creamy and it paired so well with the crunch bread! Apples were a bit weird with cheese so I ate that without the brie. Afterwards, eating that sourdough bowl was heaven! Unlike bread bowls with clam chowder that tend to get soggy and hard, this bowl was amazingly delicious! The outside of the bread was crispy, yet the inside of the bread was stuck with cheese and was so soft! YUM! Chorizo Potato Empanadas ($9)- Flaky pastries stuffed with Mexican chorizo and seasoned potatoes with a cool cilantro dipping sauce. That pastry was flaky alright. Very light and buttery and one bite in, you have your mouth bursting with flavors! It is a little spicy but good! The cilantro sauce didn't really have any flavor in my opinion. Pesto Pasta ($11)- Pasta and peppered chicken with homemade creamy pesto and Piave Vechhio, served with garlic bread. This pasta was really creamy! Not to heavy but seemed just right. The garlic bread was good but i wish there was more chicken in the pasta, but overall, pretty good. You won't feel sickening eating this bowl of carbs. It's not like it will make you want to unzip your pants and let go ;) I would definitely come back here again. Hopefully my tummy will feel better and I would love to have a glass of wine or two. I've been in love with Twisted Vine for so long. I have not been in a while so we stopped in on our way through a few weekends ago. As usual, the fantastic ambiance remains, especially with the interior changes. The tables were changed a bit in the front part to take out a bar area that held wine. Service was excellent and our server was helpful in helping us choose wines. The wine list is extensive so the staff is very understanding and patient in helping one choose the right glass. We got the small meat and cheese trays, which is my favorite. We also ordered the chorizo and potato empanadas. I love empanadas with potato. I couldn't really taste much potato and asked the waitress just to ensure we got the correct order. she assured us it was in there, and I double checked the menu, and ate them. later she came back over to let us know that the chef said that they no longer put the potatoes in. Well, um, wouldn't they want to change it on the menu. Good news, I wasn't crazy. Bad news, I paid for and ate a dish I would not have ordered had the menu been correct. Came here for a friend's birthday celebration last night and the place had a very nice, classy vibe. There are a lot of high tables and only a few tables with chairs. They have a wide selection of wine (obviously) and the waiters were all very helpful about making a selection. We got the chilled dessert wine which was nice for novice wine drinkers because it tasted like juice. They also have a beer selection but we didn't dabble with the beer at all. They also have a lot of different foods like flatbreads and cheese boards. Great for munching on while drinking. Would def come back! read more
