First time eating here and I wasn't too excited by my food. The salmon bowl ($14) is a weird combo. Cold lentils and quinoa with warm salmon... it just didn't taste right. I ended up not eating any of the base and just ate the salmon, avocado and pineapple. The salmon was a little fishy... and it felt like a waste of $. The blueberry scone was good though ($3.50). May give it another try at some point but definitely skipping the bowl. read more

Perfect place to start off your weekend. Went there to celebrate a friend's birthday over brunch. My wife and I had the Smoked Salmon Benedict Biscuit and Croque Madame Biscuit. Both were really tasty. Portion was just perfect and the plate well balanced. The reason why I say this is because most brunch places have food that either tastes too sweet, salty or oily. Also liked the interior, which was spacious and bright with lots of natural light. Actually liked the fact that it wasn't too crowded on Saturday brunch time. A great and easy breakfast place that is very accessible. Their menu options are simple. They stick to a very reliable cafe food style. I love their biscuits are freshly made and oh so perfect! You can't go wring with their Jalapeno Cheddar Biscuit sandwich. They also had an assortment of baked goods that range from the ordinary croissant to the unique Lemon Pistachio Cake (to die for). A cute little bakery that's good to stop by for lunch/brunch if you're not willing to wait for a table at republique or other ridiculously good place. I only give it a mediocre review because it's just what it is - nothing bad, but nothing wow-Ing. I got a jalapeño cheddar scrambled eg biscuit and it was ok. The biscuit itself was plain, not jalapeño cheddar, don't be fooled. So there were only bits of jalapeño (I hardly noticed it) and some cheddar on the egg. The biscuit was good, but i would have preferred it with some jam and butter, old school style. The boy had the smoked salmon eggs Benedict and it was caked in hollandaise, which as you might know me - I hate over sauced stuff. You could hardly tell the smoked salmon was there. Biscuit was the same and still good, but I'm glad I didn't order it. We got a side of roasted brussels too which had some light mustard seed sauce on it and was good. I love the décor of this place--really digging the brick wall thing they have going on. I had such a hard time deciding what to get because I wanted everything on the menu. The food options here are the typical brunch dishes--omelettes, biscuit sandwiches, breakfast burritos, Paninis, but everything looked great. In the end I got the biscuit sandwich with a side of salad and my friend got the jalapeno cheddar biscuit sandwich with a side of potatoes. The food was indeed delicious! This place also sells a bunch of other pastries, cakes, pies, cold dishes, coffee. I think this would be a good study spot since it's pretty quiet. Parking is street parking. Some places you go to and you just instantly like the vibe - Twist is one of those places for me. It's not very big inside, but the setup flows well. It has sort of an industry loft feel (gray walls on one side, wood roof and then brick wall on other side). The Twist sign is on the brick wall and looks very cool. The place also has good natural lighting inside, but not too bright that you need to sit with your shades on. You go up to the counter to order your food, but they bring it out to you from there. I love their croissant egg sandwich with potatoes. Honestly, it's the only thing I've eaten this far, which is bad, but I get like that sometimes. I'll be trying something new going forward, but I love that sandwich. They now serve breakfast all day, but you can also order lunch, coffee and pastries. The weekend menu is a little different from during the week - more options added. This place offers very healthy food, so if that's your thing, you will be in good care here. So they do offer more breakfast options on the weekend like the Soufflé pancakes and Mascarpone stuffed French toast, but I have yet to try either. Those are up next. Most people just stick to themselves and enjoy their food and company while in here. Occasionally, you'll run into some chatty mean girl types having a hilarious conversation, but mostly it's chill. Jen I believe is like an owner or manager & she is very sweet. I would recommend giving Twist a try. Good for friends, with a date or alone to just relax. read more

I feel like I'm missing something. I went to Twist eatery during bangin' prime time brunch hours and you could've heard a pin drop in the place, not a soul was visible other than the woman behind the counter. Now, I check out yelp and there are quite a few crippling reviews. I genuinely thought the place was "A-OK" and had a nice brunch. Space: open, airy, modern, yet with cozy accents here and there. They have concrete floors, scattered high tops with metal stools and I believe wood tops and a bench running alongside the wall to the right with two tops placed along the length. The counter doubles as a centralized ordering location and a pastry display. Food: a solid "good". My friend and I split: - Biscuit sandwich: bacon egg and cheese. This is one of my favorite breakfast dishes and this version could be a bit better. The biscuit left me mildly disappointed - Veggie scramble "mash": 3-4 eggs perfectly scrambled and mixed with green peppers, onions, tomatoes and cheese. This didn't knock my socks off but was tasty. - breakfast potatoes: standard, yum - chicken sausage: standard, yum - Coffee: dark, strong and delicious - Peanut butter cookie: yummy- thick, crumbly and with a strong peanut butter taste Service: better than good (maybe because we were the only ones in there?) The woman behind the counter was very friendly and attentive. Parking: street/metered My friend and I had a lot of catching up to do, so this quiet, adorable space with its hearty brunch was perfect. While I love Sycamore Kitchen, it can be a mob house and not so pleasant to sit at in leisure as Twist Eatery. If you live in the area, I highly recommend checking it out. I got a breakfast sandwich which was really good. The siracha mayo and toasted bread make this a top shelf sandwich. I also ordered chips and they were expired 4 months ago, I noticed at first bite by the stale, sour taste. When I called the store they said all the other BBQ chips in that brand and flavor were also expired so I couldn't replace it. Clearly, the crew was winding down... and their plates reflected that. We loved the breakfast sandwich and potatoes it came with. They were exactly the kind of food we were looking for that morning. The potatoes that came with it were also really good too! My boyfriend said he really enjoyed the iced coffee. I am giving this place two stars because the cook never wears a mask. I was hesitant to leave a review last time I stopped by, because the food is really good. I asked the cook to put on his mask while making my meal and he ignored me and continued to prep my food without his mask. I continued to ask him to put it on, but he ignored me and stated that he was vaccinated and didn't need a mask. I was very upset and canceled my order, even talked to the owner about the issue and she said it won't happen again. Fast forward to today, I went in to order and the same cook didn't have his mask on while preparing food... I was very disappointed and ended up not purchasing anything. If you don't care about COVID regulations, the food is good. Otherwise, stay away. The cook blatantly disregarded my discomfort and I recommend they find someone who can follow simple guidelines or enforce mask wearing. read more

Food and service quality is wildly inconsistent. When they are on the egg dishes and coffee is great. Before you order, ask them if they have a large phone order. 1st time here and not impressed with the food. I ordered one of their brunch specials - chicken & waffles. Took some time and when I got it, I was disappointed to see very small burnt chicken pieces on top of some thick waffles. While the waffles and syrup was good, the chicken was as dry and overcooked as it appeared - I was so hungry, I ate it. Along with it, was a small cup of cole slaw that was okay - I thought it was such an odd pairing. It would have been better with potatoes. I looked at their pastries - they looked very big, doughy and dry/stale; not at all appealing. Their cold brew is good. Service was good. The place itself is nice - tall ceilings, lots of natural light and enough tables for couples. They have too many tables lined up against the wall, though - not enough space to get by tables unless you're anorexic. I ordered a breakfast burrito to go. When I got home, I noticed that the potatoe onion hash didn't have any onions in it. Smh. I don't think this place will last. The food quality does not justify the prices. read more

I'd give this place a 3.5. I've had food to go from here a few times and today was the first time I've eaten inside. I have had breakfast from there each time and have had the biscuit sandwich a few times. I ordered the biscuit sandwich today as well. I order mine with turkey sausage since I don't eat bacon. The sandwich is good for what it is considering the price. The biscuit is a bit frustrating because it is usually pretty dry. The sandwich falls apart the whole time I'm trying to eat it and I end up with biscuit chunks all over my plate. It makes it difficult to eat and also makes my mouth dry. Sometimes the flavor is fine, but the moisture not. Today the biscuit was softer, but the flavor was really lacking. It could have used some salt. I really wish it were more consistent. I like getting food from here because it's just a cheap quick place to get food, but it's not a go to brunch spot for me. Also, the potatoes they serve with the sandwich are inconsistent as well. Sometimes they are perfectly cooked with good flavor, other times they are dry or undercooked and under seasoned. The service was fine for what it is. You walk up and order and then find a seat. It was pretty busy so we had to wait for someone to clean off a table for us to sit at. It seems like they could've used one more person on the floor, but it was fine. Ordered through work via sharebite, and ordered a tuna melt. Supposed to come with cheddar cheese, roasted cherry tomatoes, and micro-greens. What I got was a tuna sandwich with no melt. No cheddar - no cheese at all, actually, and standard sliced tomatoes and what looked like romaine lettuce. It's not like they just gave me the standard tuna sandwich either, because that is supposed to have black olives, and there are no black olives here. Bummed but this has happened to me with many places when ordering through sharebite. I think since the restaurant are not working directly with customer, they are sloppy in preparing food and you're lucky if you get something that resembles what is actually advertised on the menu. This place has the worst vibes ever. It's awkwardly quiet and run by two elitist brats. Not only do they have zero customer service acumen, but they are actually snobs. I was waiting for 10 minutes while the two proprietors struggled to package a single order. Meanwhile a customer actually stepped out of line and left. When I finally got to place my order the manner in which the co-owner addressed me was incredibly belittling...look honey, I may not be rocking a Van Cleef & Arpels necklace but that doesn't make me any less of a person than you... It's a shock to me how they are able to stay in business...maybe it's the palatable food. Two stars only because they have somewhat decent pastries. The menu and prices are comparable to Sycamore Kitchen down the street but there's a more low-key, less "trendy" vibe here. It's a neighborhood hangout with a sleek, slightly rustic ambiance and a modern "twist." They have prepared salads, which they were kind enough to let me sample a few. The Tarragon Chicken and Quinoa stood out for me. The coffees are Handsome, so the prices reflect that. Although, unlike Handsome downtown, you can get any sort of concoction your little heart desires from Cappuccino to a Machiatto and add as much sugar and cream as you like.
