    Sam Special Sandwich
    Amanda P.

The best sandwich in El Segundo! We always get the Sam Special (hot, with everything on it). Sooooo delish! The service is top notch too. Sam and family always greet us with a big smile. They are located on Main St just north of El Segundo Bl so easy to find and there is usually parking right out front. They have sidewalk seating which is a nice vibe as well. A great gem of a little cafe!

This is a great little hole in the wall Italian place. It is close to LAX so I can get over, pick up dinner and get back to work fairly quickly. The pizza never disappoints so that is my go to. But I stray and get lasagna, sandwiches, and salads now and then. Regardless of what I order I'm always satisfied with my meal. This is a very small storefront restaurant and being on duty I've never stayed to eat there. But I believe that there's a couple of tables that are available. I'm a big fan of shopping and dining small and local. Little Gourmet is a perfect example of a small local restaurant that does it well. The staff are always friendly, smiling, and greet me cheerfully.

Great value and portion size. Friendly owners/employees. Very small location. Dine in or on patio available, but probably easier for take out. Convenient location in Downtown El Segundo. Will definitely be back

Food was delicious and the customer service was great. Highly recommend the fettuccine Alfredo and the lasagna. Their salad was unique and very fresh! Loved the ranch they used, and the extra Parmesan for the food. Music was such a throw back as well!

Sorry about the missing slices. I had to rescue some of my capocollo slices before they disappeared.

This was my son's week to pick a dinner so I gave him some places I saw on Yelp near El Segundo that had good ratings. He decided to give Little Gourmet a shot. Being a creature of habit, he went with the eggplant parmigiana dinner which he thought was good but not as good as Ricci's in Bellflower. My daughter ordered the fettuccine dinner which didn't seem to impress her much. My wife and I split a pizza with mushrooms and half sausage and half capicola. It's unusual to see capicola as a topping choice so I was rather excited by that. Unfortunately, I think it works better in sandwiches rather than baked on a pizza. It's not much different than having pepperoni but at least I tried it. I thought the sauce was very tasty but the crust was rather bland. What did impress me was a thick layer of quality mozzarella covering the pie. All of the orders were very generous portions so that was a plus. There is only street parking so my son said that was a bit inconvenient around dinner time. The service was friendly and pleasant. A dinner for 4 at a little over $50 was very reasonable. I look forward to trying some other items on their menu. Many people seem to enjoy their sandwiches so maybe we can pick up some of those next time. I'm really impressed by the fact that they've done a great job keeping prices reasonable while still offering a great value to their customers. Thanks Little Gourmet.

Great little spot! Had the classic Sam's Special, Hot....it was great! Not overly dressed and not too much meat...perfectly toasted. The pepperoncini add some acid to balance the salted meats...real dang good And got an 8" Jalapeño Pizza....surprisingly awesome! Good crust and lots of cheese This is a No frills spot with good food

This was one of the best pizza-related choices I've made in Southern California. Parking is a little tough...I ended up parking a few blocks away on a main street, which was fine, but didn't notice there was a public parking structure available closer behind a building across the street. The place was crowded and lively on the early Saturday evening I was there. That's a great sign...I was just getting a slice to go, but overheard the host telling people it would only be 10-15 minutes for a table. I had a classic cheese slice. (My litmus test for NY pizza at a new location.) It was FANTASTIC. Easily among the very best crusts I've had on the west coast...super thin and crispy...exactly as it should be. The balance of sauce and cheese was also perfect. Too many pie shops seem to treat sauce as an afterthought...too thin a layer, almost not tastable. But not here...it was perfect...the right amount of everything. There are other really delectable looking pizza options, even for vegetarians like me, including a fascinating "Cacio E Pepe" and a Margherita. (I also saw one which looked all sauce like a tomato pie, which looked really good. (Plus other options like Fried Brussels Sprouts or Fried Cauliflower...cheese bread, and salads. The beer menu, as one would expect with "pint" in the name, is extensive with lots on tap and "guest" brewery selections. Lots of wines to choose from as well. Slice and Pint may be local to El Segundo (lucky El Segundonians!) But my experience with this one slice is that it would be worth the drive from anywhere in SoCal to eat here...If you love NYC-style thin slices...like real legitimate ones...charge up the car and get yourself there.

After finding a table, we went back up ready to order and the server responded pretty rudely: "Did you not hear what I said?" I completely understand restaurants get busy and mistakes happen, especially in a loud environment, but the attitude felt unnecessary over a simple misunderstanding. We ended up leaving and went to Japonica around the corner instead, where the service was much friendlier.

I went through their menu beforehand and knew exactly what I wanted: The Gourmet Pizza. Experience dictated parking can be a challenge more especially during the lunch rush, so I prepped for that. Got way lucky I found one near the front. Came through and a couple customers already waiting for their order. There were also a few takeout orders waiting to be picked up. Didn't see anyone dining in, so they're popular for to-go grub. Put my order in and took a seat. About ten (maybe fifteen?) minutes before my food was ready to go. Made to order is always a plus! Got back to work not too long after and my pie was still hot. Plenty of toppings and the thin crust was crispy at the outer layers. Each bite was savory and flavors from all the toppings came together nicely. I really liked it! I ordered a small but was only able to consume half. There was plenty for a second meal. FOOD: 5. SERVICE: 5. VALUE: 4. PARKING: Small Private lot up front, more in the back. Street also available. OVERALL: 4.5. The only little snag?! The pie was sliced into four pieces which were a bit too big for my personal preference. Will most likely request for 8 slices the next time. There will be a next time! Might take interest in their lunch specials then.

I'd say that's the way to go if you wanna' just snack, sample, and share. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food. The crust tasted really fresh and had a nice softness. I also ordered a slice of their Chicago style, and think that this is where this place really stands out. This is not just thick fluffy crust that is being called Chicago crust -- here it's real Chicago crust which is more cakey, bready, buttery than what other places usually claim is Chicago crust. They put the toppings on the bottom and then the sauce, just like you're at Lou Malnati's or another Chicago place. I love that they sell it by the slice(!) for their flavor of the day. My husband had the Rob Gentile, an elevated Old Fashioned, and was thoroughly impressed. Service was great, and the food was top-notch. Let's dive in! Meatballs with beef, pork, ricotta, potato purée, tomato sauce, Grana Padano, and arugula--WOW. Cheesy, saucy perfection. Beef Tartare with tonnato, shallot, marjoram, crispy potato, and toast.
