I've ordered from Bread Head regularly, which is why this review exists. On Friday around 2:30 PM, I ordered a sandwich and specifically asked for light mayo. What I received looked like someone emptied half a jar onto the bread. The photos speak for themselves. If this is what "light mayo" looks like, I'd hate to see the regular order. The problems didn't stop there. The lettuce was soggy, the bread wasn't toasted and the tomatoes looked bruised and well past their prime. This wasn't a sandwich made with any sense of care or pride. It was sloppy. What makes it worse is that I brought my sister here instead of one of her usual sandwich spots because I've had enough good experiences to recommend it. Of course, the one time I convince someone else to try it, this is what comes out of the kitchen. We also asked for Zab's hot sauce and somehow ended up with extra mayo and spicy mayo instead, along with additional charges. Between that and paying $4 for a Diet Coke, the entire experience felt like nobody was paying attention. Every restaurant has an off day. I get that. But when you're charging premium prices, customers shouldn't have to wonder whether anyone looked at the sandwich before wrapping it up. There are too many great sandwich shops in the South Bay to spend money on food that leaves the counter looking like this. After years of being a regular, this was enough for me to move on.

Classic Burrito 3/10. Their orange sauce saved it from being dry.

I went in expecting to order a sandwich but they were only serving burritos. They open early, but anything before 11 AM is strictly burritos. Being that this was my first time coming in and then finding out that they only serve burritos if you're ordering before 11 AM doesn't make sense. You're a sandwich shop. You're whole base around your upcoming success is solely on sandwiches. Why open early only to serve burritos?! Actually, they did have 2 sandwhich options for a morning breakfast, but 100% not what I came in looking for. I ended up ordering their Classic Burrito. It was okay. It wasn't a sandwich, like I was expecting to be eating, so that might very well be a mental reason why I didn't care much for it.

When I first passed Bread Head there was a long line and I was immediately intrigued. I tried Bread Head on a Saturday shortly after they opened. It was not busy which I appreciated. It's a nice vibe sandwich shop that I imagine is great to get lunch at after a beach day. I decided to share a sandwich with my boyfriend and we decided on the cold Tuna Salad sandwich. I really don't know if it what we ordered but this sandwich was below mid. It was so bland and disappointing. I also assumed the bread would be nice and fresh but it felt like two day old bread. Nothing special at all. It also was $16 and felt too expensive for what it was. I thought I'd at least get a pickle...lol. I also ordered an iced coffee and it was so bitter. I asked for oat milk and got charged like a dollar more for a SPLASH of oat milk which felt kind of ridiculous. I heard good things about the chicken parm sandwich and can see the hot sandwiches being better but I don't know if I would truly come back. I do not understand the hype of this place.

First time trying their sandwiches, they are yummy! the turkey pesto was my favorite. all of the sandwiches had a lot of meat, the turkey pesto also had a lot of avocado! the muffaletta was my least favorite just because i am not big on olives i liked how they gave us a side of marinara sauce to dip the chicken parm sandwich in! the only thing that was not very good was that we tried to order on doordash but it said the restaurant was closed (this was around 1pm) and we called and the lady said we could only order in the restaurant. eventually we waited a little and was able to order online. but overall sandwiches were good portions and i would go again if i am in the area

IM NOT EVEN A SANDWICH GAL & I LOVED THIS PLACE! I got the chicken parm sandwich and a friend got the chicken salad sandwich. The bread is perfectly spongy. The chicken perfectly crisp. They did mess up our order (got lost in the shuffle and we had to ask about it) but they quickly resolved the issue and gave us a few free cookies for the trouble (also excellent).

We came for the videos ! Its true. The bread is delicious and memorable!! The focaccia recipe is crisp and soft at the same time plus my chicken salad was done so nicely, a housemade with sliced apples, herbs and apple butter. OmG! Now I'm going to dream about it.my hubby had the hot company grinder and stated it was amazing ! I know it's paired well with chips but we had our sandwiches solo. I would love this with sweet potato fries tbh because it would compliment eachother. I must go again!!

Burnt chicken

Quality of their sandwiches is horribly inconsistent. Ordered a chicken parm today and the chicken was unbelievably burned. Hard to imagine an employee overcooked it this poorly, looked at it, and still proceeded to put it on a sandwich instead of in the trash. Expect a lot more when they're charging $20 a sandwich. I'm sure they would've remade it if asked but takeout orders don't allow for it without going back.

Been wanting to try this place since they opened... Conveniently located a couple of steps before the Manhattan Pier, came in on a Saturday mid morning, it was already busy with a line that moved along quickly, was greeted by the friendly cashier ( forgot her name ). I settled for the Smoked Salmon Sandwich, with well balanced portions of thin tomato, whipped cream cheese, salt, smoked salmon and radish sprouts that had a nice crunch to my sandwich... the only bummer was I almost swallowed a thick fish bone :/ Over all can't wait to try the rest of their menu....

Came here for lunch during the work day with my team The parking is horrible fyi...we parked in the 24 mins few blocks away and kept feeding the meter. The shop has seating indoors and outdoors The staff is friendly kind. Service is quick They have a variety of sandwiches, veggie and meat options. I ended up getting the chicken salad sandwich. It was so good..It had apple slices, so the sandwich was refreshing crunchy. Perfect for a warm day. DIdn't feel all heavy after eating. The bread on this sandwich, is very crunchy, lol tore up the roof of my mouth. I will definitely be back or at least be ordering pick up/doordash to avoid the lack of parking.

I heard about this place via Instagram. They have an excellent location right by the pier. It's a great place to pick up sandwiches if you're hanging out at the beach. Sometimes, there's a line out the door if you come during peak lunch hour but there is also an option to order online. They have tables inside and outside if you choose to dine in. Staff is friendly. My husband and I tried two of their sandwiches: the Combo Grinder and the Turkey Pesto. The Combo Grinder is very meaty, thick, flavorful and a good option if you like Italian style deli meats. I personally prefer the lighter, fresher, nutty flavor profile of the Turkey Pesto. Both sandwiches were tasty and overall good but not amazing. The bread they use though is delicious and on the crispier side. To me, the best sandwich is still Mamie in LA but this is definitely a decent spot if you're craving sandwiches in the beach cities. Parking: can be difficult. Street/meter/garage parking nearby.

Let's take all the hype away from the place and face the reality of the sandwich you are eating. I came this afternoon and was incredibly disappointed. The chicken salad sandwich had huge chunks of chicken, many of which had no sauce, just plain chicken. There's an ingredient in there...something spicy? Horseradish? Whatever it was, terrible. I love a chicken salad sandwich and this one was the worst I have tried. My boyfriend ordered the turkey pesto sandwich and likewise, not good. The bread looks like it would be delicious and it is not. You're waiting in a long line, inside a trendy place, and high expectations which I certainly had. There's limited to no seating on a weekend afternoon. This review is regarding the food alone. Not the service which was perfectly fine. I can't imagine coming here when Mickey's exists.

Ambiance: it's a trendy sandwich shop located near the pier, they have limit seats indoor and outside, and waiting time is moderate during peak hours as the turnover is fast Service: very friendly staff, you place order at the counter top, afterwards it'll be mostly self served, you need to find a table and get your own water, then once the food is ready, the servers will call your name and bring the tray to you table Food: variety choices of cold and hot sandwiches on their menu, and make sure try their zab's hot sauce COMBO GRINDER - ***** Meats Fra' Mani of Salami Cotto, Mortadella, Hot Coppa spicy salami, Pit Smoked Ham, Cheese Aged Provolone, Veggies including Iceberg Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion, Roasted Peppers, Pepperoncini pickled hot peppers, with seasonings of everything Spice, Lemon Pine Nut Spread, Red Wine Vinaigrette, very fresh and variety ingredients, so rich in flavors, highly recommend REUBEN - ***** RC Provisions Pastrami, Swiss Cheese, Sauerkraut fermented cabbage, Pickapeppa Russian Dressing, Fresh Horseradish, Everything Spice, simple ingredients and delicious compound taste, highly recommend Price: generous protons on protein with premium quality, expect about $20 per person for a satisfying bite

Heard good things about this place and have been wanting to try it. Cozy spot steps away from the pier, plenty of metered parking in the area. Went on a weekday (mid-day) so not very crowded. The staff was friendly. I ordered the turkey pesto sandwich and it was delicious! The bread was really the star, fresh and not too heavily salted. I also had the chocolate chip cookie. It was tasty but not my favorite. Looking forward to returning and trying a hot sandwich soon.

My son suggested we stop at Ghost Sando Shop before I dropped him and his fiancée off. Great idea. My wife and I shared the Kickin' Chicken: chicken, BLAST spread, chipotle adobo, melted mozzarella and sharp cheddar, topped with lettuce, pickled jalapeño, tomato, and white onion. It was delicious. The guy at the counter was friendly and welcoming, and even delivered our sandwiches to us as we sat outside at one of the shaded tables - it was pleasant if you need a spot to eat versus taking it to go. One thing I really like on a sando is shredduce. It just makes a sandwich taste better. Not sure why. Ghost got it right. It wasn't busy shortly after opening on a Sunday, which was nice. I really enjoyed both the sandwich and the visit. We'll definitely be back. 5 stars.

It was delicious and the Dutch crunch bread was a good amount of crunch without being too hard that would rip open the roof of your mouth. I love the vegetable mix with it that included roasted peppers, pepperoncini but the Melrose spread was a tad bit much where it just oozed off the sandwich paper wrap. The sauce was good but a tad bit excessive. The staff was very nice but the food took longer than expected. Maybe that's because of them making it fresh but it seemed a tad bit longer than I expected for a non busy time I went (11am). Atmosphere is just your "fast" casual with outdoor seating which be nice when it doesn't become too cold or hot weather wise.

My order: * The Farm Club: You really can't go wrong with this one. The pickled red onions and herb aioli give it such a nice tang compared to a standard club sandwich. The turkey was high-quality and the bread held up perfectly. * Spicy Curried Couscous: I had to grab a side of their signature couscous, and it didn't disappoint. It has that signature roasted cauliflower and just the right amount of spice to balance out the sandwich. It's easily one of the best sides on their menu. The highlight of this visit was definitely sitting outside (inside is ok, a bit noisy and crowded). The patio area is clean, spacious, and perfect for catching some sun while you eat but most tables are shaded by umbrellas. Even though it's right off PCH, it's a great spot to relax and enjoy the El Segundo breeze. A couple Tips: * Parking: The plaza can get a little tight during the peak lunch hour, so give yourself a few extra minutes or try to arrive just before the 12:00 PM rush. * Ordering: If you're in a hurry, their mobile pickup is always super seamless at this location and can help you get in and out or you can take your food and eat in the park like courtyard area. I'll definitely be back next time I'm craving a solid sandwich and some fresh air!

They consistently forget major components like condiments or vegetables that are clearly listed in the sandwich description. Lately I've had to remind them or ask for extras just to get what is supposed to come standard. Today it happened again. I asked for oil and vinegar and received a dry, inedible sandwich. When I called to explain that this has happened multiple times, the person I spoke with essentially called me a liar, insisting it had been added, despite the fact that there was no oil on any of the wrappers. When I asked how they planned to make it right, especially given the astronomical prices they charge for sandwiches, I was told they might give me extra oil and vinegar next time and possibly a bag of chips. Nice customer service. Great idea to throw digs at loyal customers. Super smart. The new ownership the past few years is disappointing. It's unfortunate because we live just a few blocks away and come here often. When I order something, I expect to receive what I ordered and I certainly do not expect to be talked down to when there is a mistake on the deli's part. We have spent so much money there over the years but no more.
