The bartender who I will not name was sooooo rude to a female customer that I was like WTF.....Instead of admitting to the wrong order he went ahead and gave her attitude like it was her fault. Twenty6 at La Quinta Resort is really two completely different restaurants wearing the same clothes. Friday morning, it was excellent. The kind of breakfast that reminds you why resort dining can still matter when somebody in the kitchen actually gives a damn. Sylvia ordered the avocado toast, and honestly, it may have been the most beautifully plated version I've ever seen. Colorful. Fresh. Layered with intention instead of just stacked for Instagram. Every component tasted like somebody had thought carefully about texture and balance rather than simply following a spec sheet from corporate. It was the rare dish that actually arrived looking better than the menu photo probably promised. My eggs Benedict were equally impressive. Perfectly poached eggs surrendering exactly the way they should. A hollandaise that was clearly made in-house, carrying subtle layers of flavor beyond the usual blunt-force butter and lemon assault most places settle for. Crispy hash browns done correctly, crunchy outside, soft inside, which sounds simple until you realize how few restaurants actually pull it off. If I lived nearby, I'd eat breakfast here regularly. That's not to say the experience was flawless. The patio still suffered from some of the same strange neglect seen elsewhere around the property. Giant bulbous plastic umbrella bases better suited for a discount pool supply warehouse. Broken partitions awkwardly jury-rigged back together. Tabletops and surfaces that could have used a proper scrubbing instead of whatever quick wipe-down they'd received. But when the food is that good, you forgive things. Or at least you want to. Then came Sunday brunch. And suddenly Twenty6 transformed from thoughtful resort dining into what felt like a desperate airport convention buffet after a delayed flight to Omaha. I've eaten in some deeply mediocre hotels before. I've suffered through casino breakfast buffets, conference center scrambled eggs, roadside motel continental breakfasts, and one particularly terrifying off-brand buffet somewhere in mainland China where I genuinely couldn't identify half the food in the steam trays. This was worse. And somehow, it cost $45 dollars a person. Now look, I understand the logistical challenge. Feeding hundreds of resort guests simultaneously is hard. Nobody expects a fully customized farm-to-table breakfast experience for every tourist dragging their kids through the dining room in flip flops and sunscreen. Volume changes the game. But stale sourdough bread that was physically difficult to bite through? Powdered scrambled eggs with the texture of damp insulation foam? Generic miniature muffins that looked like they'd been purchased frozen by the pallet from a food service warehouse? And sausage patties, allegedly turkey or chicken with the texture and personality of hockey pucks left overnight in a parking lot? That's not volume cooking. That's surrender. And then there was the fruit. Even the blackberries had mold growing on them. That's the moment the whole thing crosses from disappointing into offensive. Sylvia literally couldn't find anything she wanted to eat. I managed maybe half a plate before giving up entirely. Yes, there was an omelette station. But the line snaked deep enough into the dining room that it appeared you'd need to sacrifice twenty minutes of your vacation just to get someone to crack an egg. And funny enough, when the food is terrible, all those little aesthetic flaws you overlooked two days earlier suddenly become impossible to ignore. The dirty surfaces. The neglected patio details. The tired infrastructure barely being held together behind the curtain of "luxury resort" branding. To be fair, the staff hustled. The hostess, in particular, handled a relentless barrage of impatient, unhappy guests with professionalism and composure. And the Bloody Marys were genuinely fantastic, spicy, balanced, properly built cocktails instead of watered-down tomato sludge poured from a plastic jug. But not even good cocktails could rescue this brunch. Which makes Twenty6 all the more frustrating. Because somewhere inside this restaurant is a genuinely talented breakfast kitchen capable of producing exceptional food. But somewhere between Friday morning and Sunday brunch, the entire operation collapses under the weight of scale, shortcuts, and what feels like management simply deciding "good enough" was acceptable. So here's the advice: when available, order off the menu. And avoid the brunch buffet at all costs. read more

I also ordered my favorite blueberry muffins. Other mornings here we split an Eggs Benedict and had a pastry tray. First morning pastry tray had four pastries, second day three pastries. But they were yummy. Pastry tray comes with a nice large fresh fruit bowl. I ordered a poached egg on the side one day. Poached eggs taste a bit vinegary. The coffee is just weak. Well this is a resort and as such, sometimes events can spoil a nice afternoon but they need to make a de money. YELP SHORT ANSWER: Yes the resort is one of the best places to visit in the valley. Lots to do. Location: kind of perfect, this has been here for many decades so they have it down. Parking can be difficult at peak season or holiday. Menu at 26: it is fine but prices make it seem extra special. Kind of standard California cuisine. Food Prep: on this visit to 26, not great guessing due to a large conference taking over and closing Adobe which was our original destination. Food Quality: fell well short of resort prices, flatbread was not good and kind of soggy. Waitstaff: seemed out of it on this day. Maybe since all the pressure was on 26, people seemed burnt out and not super friendly. Overall Value: on this visit 26 was overpriced for a meal which was not great, I am sure not acceptable per management but bad days happen. Will review again. TIP: if you are paying the bill, pick an off time and enjoy this resort property and learn about its history online, it is very cool. 26 is just one restaurant at the resort, all our other visits have been great 4 or 5 star. read more

This is a very busy restaurant during the day. It's the main location for lunch and it can be easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle. The decor is your typical American restaurant, with a good amount of both indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered the wings, which are not on the menu, but my server allowed me to order them with the buffalo cauliflower sauce on the side. The wings were crispy and a natural size. The tater tots were great. I would highly suggest these, forget the carb counting. :) The only thing that knocked this place down to a 4 was the pet situation. Dogs are welcome on the patio as it is a pet friendly hotel and as a person that is highly allergic to dogs, it makes for an uncomfortable experience. I also noticed that servers will greet the animals and either provide them a dog bowl or retrieve their dog bowl and not immediately go to sanitize their hands. I saw servers bus tables in between interactions and honestly the fact that people that handle my food at any portion of their shift interact with animals just doesn't sit will with me. However, I understand that I live in a world where I'll be forced to dine with animals whether I like to or not. :) Nice spot. I dined twice during my week's stay. read more

Firstly, this is one of the restaurants for La Quinta Resort & Spa. Convenience level 100. That said, I have a hard time imagining anyone genuinely has a good time (vibes/food/etc) here. The hostess was quite lovely- upbeat and clearly knew her job well. With so many people on Memorial Day weekend, she knew which tables were available and which weren't down to a T. We were sat with menus and then told our server would be over. We sat for quite a bit, actually, believing that we should just get up and go somewhere else- but then our server appeared. Omar was pleasant but not attentive. Other tables had been turned over 1x/2x and we were still on our entrees. In fact, I asked for an appetizer at the same time as drinks as I expected a long wait. Turns out- the appetizer came out before the drinks! The Brussels sprouts were ok/ nothing truly remarkable. My grapefruit spritz drink was honestly delicious! Upon delivery Omar mentioned they were out of rosemary so he added a pineapple piece instead. To be honest- it was better! Lots of rosemary garnishes for drinks these days- so this was refreshing, as was the drink. Now about the entree/ this was the most peculiar dish I have ever eaten. In my life. Truly, ever. Don't let the description fool you- I was basically served a massive piece of overcooked salmon in a fregola/corn soup. Now, I love corn and I love fregola- I couldn't wait to dig in! Imagine my surprise when I went to get a yummy mouthful of corn and fregola only to find it was COLD. That's right. Hot salmon was served on top of cold yogurt soup. I didn't want to send it back- and wait another long time- so I ate what I could, paid and left. Our server didn't even offer another drink. We also didn't warrant a fly deterrent device either- until near the end of our meal. Again- it was fun to watch the many turned over tables with them and to just not have one. The alternative is the market place, which has ready made sandwich and salads, and some hot sandwich for about the same price maybe a few dollars less. For a few more dollars you get much better quality at 26. My wife and I shared the following: First visit.. Cobb Salad (4 Stars) Everything was fresh, good quality. I wish they put more dressing on, but it was nice they tossed the salad then placed the cobb stuff on top. To make 5 stars they should season/marinate the avocado, cherry tomatoes and turkey cubes. The bacon was nicely chopped and the cheese was good quality. French Dip Sandwich (5 Stars). Just order, it's was awesome! Perfect sliced medium rare beef. Great horseradish mayo. Perfect French roll, good crust not to hard, soaked up Au Jus. Second visit... Shrimp Cocktail (5 Stars $19) Huge shrimp, prefect cooked served over a bed of cocktail sauce. A little squirt of lemon, heaven! SoCal Burger (4 Stars) Jack cheese, avocado, peperoncini, lettuce, tomatoes, and with regular mustard and mayo, not the date aioli (I guess I'm a traditionalist, sweet garlic mayo? Not for me). This review is only for the pre-fixed menu for Christmas. It was $85.00 per person. After being seated, it took about 10 minutes before our server showed up. We were told that they are busy and our order will be taken soon. The only actual choice we had to make was whether we wanted prime rib or halibut. We ordered one of each. The mushroom soup arrived. It was topped with toast and sauteed onions. As I am allergic to cooked onions, I removed the toast with the onions. But it was the most unpleasant texture and didn't taste right. I typically LOVE mushroom soup of all sorts. Except for this time. Then the salad came. It was actually very good. After two bites of my salad, my prime rib arrived. As it was cold, I didn't want my food to get cold and had to put my salad aside. The prime rib was good but there was no horseradish and when I asked, the person acted shocked. Couldn't tell why as she had brought us our plates. It came with root vegetables, asparagus and potatoes au gratin. The potatoes were definitely under cooked. My husband took few bites of his fish and couldn't eat any more. At this point, we were disappointed and didn't want the dessert. We could understand being under staffed. Meh. Visiting from out of town, a friend (also from out of town) made reservations for dinner for 6:30 pm on a Friday night at Twenty6. Restaurant was not full by any means (MAYBE 30%). Ordered only drinks, entrees, and dessert. Service by waiter (and other staff) felt RUSHED once the food was served. My cocktail took awhile to arrive and was less than impressive - I did not finish it. Entrees were above lukewarm but certainly not hot as claimed when the meal was served. Then it was staff coming by checking on table and to (almost literally) take the plates away before we were finished eating. As a table, we did not need/request refills of water, additional silverware, or any other items. We ordered 2 desserts (no coffee) to taste/share. The brûlée was better than the chocolate cake (which seemed dry). Although the desserts were not finished, staff again appeared and asked if we were done and then proceeded to essentially strip the table of all remaining serviceware - while still sitting there! They wanted to be done for the evening and get out of there!!!! It's a Friday night!!! Note that entrees at Twenty6 are just that - the main dish with no sides. Dinner - 2 drinks, 2 entrees, and 2 desserts - was $165 not including tip. As we were leaving about 7:45 pm (just over 75 minutes from seating), I noticed how empty the bar/restaurant was and already set for service for the next morning. We had been seated in a corner, but the bar area looked attractive as we walked thru. La Quinta Resort is a very large, well maintained property with several restaurants on site, however it is not friendly to those of limited mobility. I had to drop off my passenger in the valet area to reduce the burden although there was still a fair amount to reach the restaurant. Parking can also be challenging and can be a hike. read more

Sat outside so we got to listen to the live music from the restaurant nearby and got the views from the resort. Honestly all of the cocktails were really good and I enjoyed the New York strip itself. I want to give a shout out to our awesome server, Yvette. She is a gem and took such good care of us on top of being so friendly and helpful. They are lucky to have her. The food was great but the restaurant needs to update their menus which shows entrees that don't match what you receive. The food was still really good but when you receive a meal prepared differently than what you ordered, it should be corrected by the restaurant. It happened at dinner and then next morning at breakfast. I would expect more from the restaurant manager being this is a necessity of any establishment. However, again Yvette was so lovely and one of the best servers we have ever had. The fried chicken and mashed potatoes was delicious and the breakfast the next day was very good. In the shape of a fry, so large pieces with a light batter and perfectly friend. Fruit, french fries and macaroni for the babies. We really felt well taken care of. Our waiter and other staff were attentive to shift the patio umbrellas so we and the kids were shaded as the sun shifted. I feel the value is right for food but the cocktail priced $18-22+ seem a bit high. At $22 my cocktail, albeit delicious, cost more than most of our food items. We also got their pancakes and it was nice 2 big pancakes they were really yummy and a nice shareable. They have a good variety of breakfast items and my friend got the breakfast buffet the first time which they enjoyed. They had a lot of items on their buffet. Some of the items were cereal, bread, bagels, pastries, cheeses, waffles, potatoes, veggies, bacon, eggs, sausage, and even warm cinnamon rolls.
