Twenty Tap is a long time favorite. Great food, great beer, great staff. We have missed them since they were closed during the statewide shutdown, and we had to hit them up just a few days after they reopened! We accidentally arrived a half hour before they opened, and decided to wait it out. It was worth it. The staff was super friendly when they saw us, and brought us a pitcher of cold water to stave off thirst since it was a hot and sunny afternoon. (The current hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 4-10 p.m., and Sunday 4-9 p.m.) Twenty Tap has taken additional safety steps, and when we were there, they are offering outdoor seating only. You can go inside to wash your hands or use the restroom, but they ask that if you are going inside to please wear a mask. They have a limited (socially distanced) seating area directly in front of their shop windows, but they have added an additional section with brand new sparkly picnic tables in a lot just to the south; and thankfully dressed it with umbrellas! We ordered our favorites. Not pictured are da bomb Veggie Cauliflower Wings (vegan options) because we scarfed those down. They have the best Salmon BLT, full of flavor and flaky but tender fish (the Roasted Veggie Salad, add Salmon is also a great choice). I ordered it with the simple greens side. My husband ordered the Pressed Cuban, which is done really well with lots of flavor. In my opinion they have THE BEST FRIES IN TOWN! I love to pair the fries with their chimichurri aioli. They have a great burger, too - I recommend the Black Bean Burger, Turkey Burger, or French Breakfast. Well known for having a great selection of on-tap beers, but they also carry many different ciders and gluten free beers in their bottles and cans. I love the selection of ciders they offer from McClure's Orchard. My favorite is Jerry's Cherries, which is a dry (not sweet!) cider made with fermented cherries, just a light bit of sourness, and served in a tall boy. The staff is friendly, considerate, and helpful. They always make you feel welcome. read more

They have great beer list, and they're very good at keeping their social media updated with the daily beer list so you know before you go whats available. I'd consider their food menu to be a little more upscale than standard bar food. The parking, is kind of terrible. There's no lot and you have to rely on street parking. Be prepared! read more

I met friends for our Holiday lunch. I chose this time and chose this place as they offer vegan and omni folks a nice variety on their menu. The dining room is rustic wood and warm on a cold day. Parking is street parking and a dirt, was muddy, lot in back. I ordered the vegan red beans and rice and the friends the Cuban and Hamburger meals. All were very adequate portions and were very good. At 54th and college you can find a small restaurant called the Twenty Tap, but... they have 23 different types of beer on tap, I'm guessing they expanded at some point. From IPA, to craft beer, lagers and imports, they have something for you. Everything I have tried on their menu is very well prepared and absolutely delicious. I recommend the Cuban and the edamame, both bring some heat to the table with the jalapeños and the spices but aren't over bearing so that you can fully enjoy the meal. This meal pairs well with a tall glass of Two Hearted and if you aren't an IPA kind of person, go ahead and order it anyway and become one! I give them 4 stars instead of 5 because they weren't really busy as this was an early afternoon but after the lunch rush and our waitress really took her time checking in on us and getting our bill together but, in her defense, she was also cleaning and working so it wasn't like she ignored us by any means but could've prioritized a little bit on the service side. This is the spot to be on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or really... any night! We found street parking around the corner and walked in, the host wasn't very pleasant but once we were seated outside on the patio our server made up for the lack of welcoming. Our waitress brought us water right away and took our drink orders. They have a great beer menu so you're definitely going to find something you like. Our meal started off with the an appetizer of Battered Cheese Curds with a side of their most popular aioli sides: garlic and chipotle. Best cheese curds ever!! They don't even need to be dipped in any flavor of aioli. You MUST start your meal at Twenty Tap with a cold beer and the cheese curds. Although I could have eaten more cheese curds for dinner and had no regrets, I did order the Southern Chicken Sandwich with a side of fries. This was a super fun spot! We had hoped for a table outside, but with a group of six that didn't end of happening. Their outside seating is better for smaller groups. Inside the staff all wore masks! I'm not a beer person, so I got their new blackberry cider (Ash and Elm) and it was delicious! I loved that they had several cider options available. Wish I had gotten a pic of the pretty pink color haha. For dinner I had the poutine, which is technically an appetizer but more than enough for a meal! It was delicious. The cheese was melty and stringy and the gravy was very good. The cheese created a sort of barrier between the fries and the gravy, so nothing got too soggy and the fries stayed crisp. My husband and I had a great time here! And man, was the food delicious! When we arrived, there was a wait, so my husband and I grabbed a beer at the bar and stood outside to wait. This is my favorite neighborhood restaurant - living a block away is dangerous for my waistline and wallet. I've been here probably 10 times and have had a great experience each time. I was extremely underwhelmed by the flavor of this burger. My burger was cold when I received it. It had been sitting so long that the grease had soaked into the bottom bun which was extremely soggy. I also only had the bacon jam on one side of my burger. I only had a hint of bacon in one bite out of the many I took. The fries were awesome. I had the garlic aioli which was great. My friend got the black bean burger and said it was the best one she's had in Indianapolis. She's not vegetarian but said she would go back for the black bean burger. Well, it's very loud no matter where you sit. They could certainly benefit from some acoustic treatments. And that guy did really bump me while I ate. Weird. Don't take a soon to be ex here to break up unless you want the party next to you all up in your business. They can't help it (that is unless they're in a booth). Parking is well, like the wait and the seating. So why, do you ask, do I still go? The food is delicious! Everything on the menu is great. Really. Cheese curds, yes! Pimento mac & cheese? YES! Lesson learned: they don't open until noon on Sundays...so we waited a few on the front patio then entered for lunch. Second lesson learned: beat the crowds by arriving early. I can see a plan developing... Anyway -- I knew I had to try the Cheese Curds despite being the only one at the table who could eat them. I got the horseradish and curried ketchup to dip. Let me just ditto what everyone in the history of ever says .... GET THE CHEESE CURDS. OMG. I made our server bring a to-go box just so I would not devour them all in one sitting. We also got the Hot Pretzels as an app so the hubs would have some pre-lunch noms. They were decent, the cheese was thin - so I stuck with the mustard for dipping. For lunch the hubs opted for the Tex Burger (no cheese) -- and he was very happy. I narrowed down all of the options I really wanted to the Shrimp and Grits -- mostly based on the recommendation from our attentive and amazing server Ryan. Thank you, Ryan! The Shrimp and Grits was the most savory S&G dish I have ever had. The grits were *just* cheesy enough to make an impact but not so overwhelming that they overpowered the dish. So well balanced and delicious. So much so that I kept eating despite being obscenely full causing me to have to roll out of there. Seriously -- so good. Another highlight for me was the beer selection. I often have trouble filling a flight of beers with all 'dark' beers... not here. I found enough to fill TWO flights. Smile. The selection was amazing and again, Ryan's suggestions were spot on. Flights are reasonable and priced per beer ($2-$3 per) and so worth it. Just a heads up -- trying multiple apps and beers adds up for 2 people. I don't think we planned on having a $70 lunch, but it happened....and I cannot wait to do it all over again. read more

Twenty Tap is a great family place that adapted during COVID-19 by expanding their outdoor eating- picnic tables, heat lamps and a container. It's walkable for me and was a great option for my friends, who have a 9 year old. Taking our place at an outdoor picnic table, we had the cheese curds with a variety of sauces. I had my favorite - the grilled cheese short rib sandwich with fries. Not a French fry person usually, but they have good ones especially when you use the leftover sauces for dipping . I'm a fan of the chimichurri, tzaziki, and garlic. The only point to be aware of is to practice patience for the staff. There's quite a walk between the outdoor space and the kitchen/indoor. So anticipate a few extra minutes, it's worth it. read more

Twenty Tap has one of the best craft beer selections in the city (about 40 taps). They change up their selection time to time and is always awesome. They have a fairly wide variety of types of beer from IPA's to Porters but do not have any cheap light beers. they serve to people who enjoy great beer. The food here is great. I have stated and stand strong in my claim that they have the best black bean burger in the city! The cheese curds are insane!! the charcuterie plate, fries and pretzels are wonderful and they put the Northside News famous pressed cuban sandwich on the menu and it is amazing!! (thank you for that) The staff here compliments all the great food and drinks. They are all very friendly, professional and thorough. Now a pointer for anyone who hasn't been here before. If you get there after 6pm on the weekends you will be standing in the bar (as there wont be any seats) and there will be a wait in the restaurant.
