An absolute horrific scam - these people should be prosecuted.
TV Ears has been around for a long time. You first heard of them on those cheap 3:00 AM TV commercials, and then as they suckered more people into buying their snake-oil waste, they made enough ill-got profit to became main-stream. But one of the worse things they do is make a very concerted effort to con senior citizens into purchasing their worthless product. I have worked in several senior communities, and have seen firsthand how they operate, very much like those e-mails that promise millions from a deposed Nigerian Prince if only you give them your bank account number. Simply put, the product is made of the cheapest materials, and will, and I mean WILL break down in very short order. The idea that they have the soul-less audacity to charge as much as $275 for a product that cannot cost more than perhaps five dollars in material, and I imagine "built" by third-world child labor, is mind boggling. Especially since they love to push this product to those with fixed incomes. Many senior events like bingo games, charities and pot-luck raffles are given a free product as a prize, so that they can push this on unsuspecting victims. I have seen first-hand as a "lucky" winner takes this product home, hooks it up, only to have it stop working within days... if not hours.
Then, when they call the "customer service" number they are berated, and of course also told that they cannot get a replacement, since they do not have a receipt. Worse yet are those who have actually purchased these, and have a receipt. I have listened in to these "customer service" individuals who seem to have been trained to intimate anyone who calls, to make the sucker... that is, the customer just accept the fact that there is nothing that can be done, and that somehow it is the customer's fault... so goodbye and good riddance. It appears their philosophy is that they know the customer is helpless to do anything about it, and must just "eat" the money, and that they won't sue... and since now TV Ears has their money... the heck with you! Gotcha!
Their reputation has been extremely soiled by so many complaints. But they now have re-designed their box, so that it looks less like a cheap rip-off item, to something quite "sophisticated". I must admit that the packaging now is impressive, with an inner sleeve, and two separate packages, one to house the base, and the other, the TV Ears. This only gives the victims more of a sense of security, and perhaps makes them give these, for want of a better word, "crap", another chance, thinking they may have improved it. But no... it's the same cheap "ears" and "base"... all of which will in very short order stop working.
Sadly, because they are not selling a cure-all, or promising health benefits (though they have the nerve to actually advertise these as "Doctor recommended"!), there really isn't any agency that can go after these heartless shysters. However, perhaps if more of their victims will come forward and speak out, they can finally lose enough sales to go away, and find another con to rip off money from the public, especially, and worse of all... the elderly. read more
