Unprofessional, rude, and didn't repair my equipment in the time he said. I dropped off my broken subwoofer and he said it would be 3-4 weeks before it would be looked at. When I dropped it off he said it should be less than $175 to repair and that he would call if it was way more than that. This is not how you do business. You don't make repairs before first authorizing the amount. 5 weeks later I called and he said he hadn't gotten to it. He said that he had told me 2-3 MONTHS (he didn't). I picked it up to take it to another place that could get it fixed in a timely manor. He was rude to me when I picked it up and told me to get lost. I would not recommend that ANYONE take any sort of equipment here. read more

Go in with the proper expectations, and you will not be disappointed! This is a one-man shop, and he doesn't want to turn people away, so yes, he gets backed up. If you're seriously in a hurry to get something repaired, this may not be your place. I took in my 1979 stereo/record player, and I was in no rush to get it back. It was more important to me that it be with someone competent who could fix it properly, and who would care about doing things right. Gary did a great job on my record player, and even fixed an additional issue with the stereo that I knew was present, but which I forgot to mention when I dropped it off. Just check in with him periodically for updates. If you drop something off and then don't call for six months, I can see where your item may get lost in the backlog. read more

Terrible service, and extremely rude owner. Tried to get my record player fixed that has a lot of sentimental value and he said it's not worth it. Cussing at his customers because "it's his business and he can do what he wants" don't recommend this place at all. Horrible. read more

Some items are simply not repairable. Many manufacturers only stock repair parts for modern devices for three or four years after manufacturing ends and then abandon that model for good. With solid state large scale integrated circuits, unless the exact part can be sourced or found from a "used parts source," the item cannot be repaired. Welcome to the age of "Engineered Obsolescence." TV's are often difficult to repair for this reason. However, many problems on newer equipment involve input devices, like switches or potentiometers (volume controls) and those can often be serviced or replaced, returning the component to like new operation. In older electronics, they can isolate the faulty component and replace it, often with better quality components, yielding better performance. I have had five stereo items repaired at Audio Wizard and have been very satisfied with the level of quality and service. One of the items was a high end Yamaha amp from the early 80's. The tech knew of the problem (bad solder job in the factory which "unsoldered" over the years) and the repair was very reasonable. They also checked the signal coming out of the amp to make sure it was clean and per original spec. My equipment now operates like it did when I bought it. Finding good technicians today is very hard and these guys are among the best I have found anywhere. I have two more items I plan to get serviced in the next month. How does this shady craphole stay in business? I took my high-end CD player in for repair. After 6 months of delays/excuses, and paying $200, I finally went in to retrieve my still-broken CD player. When I questioned why it still wasn't fixed, the guy behind the counter actually said "Fuck-off" and "Get the hell out of my store". I'm not making this up. I took my Teac multi-CD player in because cds were getting jammed. After waiting 3 weeks and hearing nothing, I called to inquire about the status. I was told to "check back" in 2-3 weeks. Again, after hearing nothing, I called. This went on for several more weeks. Finally, after a few months of waiting, I called and was told it was ready for pick-up. I handed over $150 and brought it home. It worked great... for one month. So I took it back and was told the repair was "still under warranty". 6 weeks later, since nobody called me, I physically stopped by the store to check on the status. They hadn't even looked at it! So I asked for it back was the guy at the counter was extremely rude to me. I will never step foot here again. I honestly don't know how this place stays in business. read more

Had an old Pioneer 518 manual turntable still in good shape. But recent upgrades in Receiver technology (analog to digital) have eliminated the RCA input jacks from the back of newer model Receivers. With me calling in, they diagnosed the problem and proposed a winning solution-- get a $40 pre-amp that plugs into a CD, DVD or Auxilary jack creating the appropriate electronics to accept an old Turntable. Picked up their pre-amp and it worked first time! Also on a prior visit with Turntable in hand, I believed the belt was stretched and not turning the platter effectively. They actually had a new belt in stock, put it on, tested the speed, and all worked perfectly. These guys know their stuff! I also appreciated they responded to my emails within 24 hours. I would recommend them to anyone with older stereo equipment or audiophiles looking for super-knowledgeable repair guys. read more
