I haven't been here in years because the last time I was here, it was a quick stop of desperation and the meal was as expected. The Hubs insisted we eat here because his recollection was glorious. We left saying I was right. We popped in on a late Thursday and ate bread (excellent), meatball (also excellent), extraordinary bad bolognese (record breaking terrible) and an almost as bad fra diavalo. I will say there was lots of seafood, but the sauce was like chef boyardee. His bolognese had almost no meat, very little sauce and looked mushy. I didn't even want to try his. He said it was just awful. I ordered a manhattan off the specialty menu. It came very cold in a martini glass and was sugary sweet. I complained and they brought me one without the sweetener and the glass was half full, which makes sense, because that's about how much simple it tasted like it had. Our server was friendly.

The best thing about Tuscan Kitchen was our server, he was such a nice guy. The food was not great, especially my pasta. I got the bolognese, and added a meatball. The meatball was awful, and it cost me an extra $7, what a scam. The bolognese was not particularly flavorful either. It was probably about as good a dish at olive garden, except it was $27. This was the most expensive worst pasta ever. The free bread and olive oil they gave us was better. My friend got the filet mignon, and it was significantly better than my pasta. We also got calamari and it was just okay. I would never come back here.

Tuscan is really a 4.5 As with all Italian restaurants, one must start with the bread - for all you fellow Italian bread snobs out there - Tuscan Kitchen is your place. Soft, flavorful focaccia and crusty delicious Tuscan bread are your two offerings in the bread basket with accompanying EVOO, olives and Parmesan cheese - perfect! We ate family style. Mushroom Pizza - fresh mushrooms , right amount of mozzarella cheese, excellent flavor. Caesar Salad - with REAL anchovies - wonderful - don't really need to say anymore. Tortelli Brasato - short rib stuffed pasta in an elegant "Matriciana" sauce - very tasty, really best looking recipe on the menu - served Luke warm unfortunately- that dish comes out piping hot and I'm still talking about it. Tomahawk Ribeye - cooked perfectly, seasoned expertly, potatoes and broccolini terrific sides. For a chain Italian restaurant, Tuscan is superior to most. We really enjoyed our meal. Our server Kathleen was a real pro too, and the pricing is fair. Reason why it doesn't get a perfect score was the cold ravioli, the loud, annoying music every chain restaurant feels we must have as background noise, and the bane of all restaurants these days - a lack of an experienced, well trained and well coordinated staff with an invisible manager (the Tomahawk came on a cracked serving board, the food runner asked to borrow my napkin to prevent spillage with the promise of a replacement that I'm still waiting for) - gone are the days when an owner or manager would circulate throughout their restaurant to check on their clientele - at least with the "corporate restaurants" Still - a superior menu, excellent bread, and fair pricing We'll be back

We went for Valentine's Day and it was packed as expected. We wouldn't have mind if our waiter actually checked in on us but she never did. She only started coming to us once she realized we were waiting an hour for our food. She apologized, the manager came and offered us the pizza and dessert free since it took so long. We agreed that was fine and ate our dinner. The braided short rib was delicious! The steak strip was okay, a little on the dry side and underwhelming with the salad that it's paired with. Fast forward another hour, and our pizza and dessert didn't show up still. When it did we just took it home. The manager was nice but wasn't a good first experience personally.

This is one of my weekly stops for lunch or dinner. Their food selection is great and they appear to make all dishes with fresh ingredients and on the spot. My two favorites are the bolognese and the grilled salmon. I highly recommend their own labeled Super Tuscan wine with their pasta or even fish dishes. It is very smooth and savory. If you sit at the bar during the lunch hour, you will likely be served by a very friendly bartender named Sean. He will remember your name and food selection after the first visit. He definitely makes you feel welcome and not just like a $ figure like some places do.

My wife and I made a reservation for a Saturday night and upon arrival were seated immediately. To…read morestart, we ordered a perfectly cooked octopus antipasti, followed by tortellini alla norcina, and for a secondi the vitello alla petroniana (we were debating between this pasta/secondi combination and the pasta bolognese/swordfish special - will have to come back to get these next time!). I don't typically eat veal, and this cutlet was perfectly balanced - rich, savory, crispy, with a pleasant (but not overwhelming) salty kick from the prosciutto and parmigiano reggiano. We also ordered the spicy broccolini, which I highly recommend for the garlic lovers out there. For dessert we had the dark cherry (amarena?) gelato, which was delicious and creamy, with the perfect amount of sweetness. We shared each dish, and it was certainly plenty of food for the two of us. Prices felt reasonable for the amount and quality of what we ordered (all of the above + 2 drinks from the bar totaled approx. $160 pre-tip). The restaurant space itself is relatively small but has enough space to move around comfortably, which made it cozy without ever getting too loud (it was a pretty full house when we went), with a balanced dim lighting. Additionally, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and the server patiently walked us through the menu and shared suggestions at our request. On a personal note I am especially appreciative of the staff, as I accidentally left without my hat, and the restaurant responded almost immediately to the message I sent through the restaurant website that same evening. Tl;dr - great menu, rich & hearty but balanced ingredients/recipes, and comfortable vibe. One really gets the impression that the husband/wife owners had a specific vision that they successfully brought into reality.

The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, so it's a great place for date night. The Fantastic: 1. Service -- our waiter was amazing, he took great care of us. We wanted for nothing! 2. Tortellini Alla Norcina -- this was delish. It was creamy, a little funky, and the pasta was cooked perfectly. 3. Cacio e Pepe -- also delish. 4. Mussels -- perfectly cooked, big and plump, and the bread to sop up the broth was also yummy. The plates are beautiful, but I think that plating and presentation takes priority over the food sometimes: 1. Bruschetta -- this was supposed to come with a balsamic drizzle, but it was served on a wooden plate and the drizzle was tiny and thin, so there wasn't really any balsamic. The dish could have used it to help cut through the cheese. 2. Bombolone -- dry, there was not a lot of custard in the pastry, and the surrounding sauces were more decorative than helpful. We did not enjoy the mixed drinks, they were all on the sour side and watery. So I would stick with wine or beer, the wine we had was excellent. Overall, we had a really nice time and would return.

The only reason I am not giving five stars is because I personally didn't LOVE the food, I just found it to be ok, but the friends I was with all loved it. I am sensitive to things being too cheesy or fatty and i found some of the dishes to be too oily, so it's just a personal preference thing. I'd absolutely come back here and try other things on their menu. The manager was also super sweet and our waiter doubled as our photographer lol. The citrus honey torta for dessert was divine. The portions were huge for everything I took a lot home. The truffled eggplant appetizer was good but the truffle oil addition was too much for me on top of all the melted cheese and burrata. It was still good tho. They were accommodating to dietary restrictions and I got the lumache à la vodka without the pancetta. It was good but tbh I prefer the Cheesecake Factory's spicy vodka sauce next door. The breadsticks I had never seen before, they were like thin flatbread slices with garlic butter. I am a huge lover of garlic bread but I found these to be way too oily too, so that's been the general theme for me, tone down the oil a bit, but otherwise excellent concept and ambience. All in all it was a great experience and I would do it again. I believe we caught the last weekend (for now at least) of the flora's corner experience but I would come back here on a regular day and try other items on the menu.

We have two little picky eaters and needed convenience, access to parking, and spacious and friendly for toddlers. We thoroughly enjoy Ciao Amici and have been going pretty regularly for the last 2 years. Our usual are the meatballs and carbonara for the kids. For awhile, it was the only way I could get my youngest to eat any protein. It is tender and has the right amount of spices for my youngest to gobble up. The two of them always share the carbonara and slurp it right up. Lastly, my oldest has recently become obsessed with their sauteed mussels and I literally have to negotiate with her to let me eat one. I love the saffron garlic white wine sauce, it is very garlicy and goes so well with the warm bread that they give you. My husband and I have tried a lot of their pasta and seafood with risotto dishes. Recently he has also ventured into their main dishes and still enjoyed it. Overall, great flavors, pasta is al dente, and the perfect portion where you don't feel overly stuffed by the end of the meal. We've tried a few of the places in the North End, and I would say Ciao Amici definitely is on par if not better than some of the places in the North End, plus they have a small parking lot that we've always had access to. My personal favorites are the Spaghetti Shrimp Scampi and Haddock e Risotto. The servers are always attentive and considerate. The -1 star comes from the pace of service. We usually go on the early side and don't have trouble but the few times we've gone when it was a bit busier, we noticed that the food can take awhile to come out and although I am confident everyone is working hard, they may not always be staffed appropriately when t's busy. Lastly, we did order a salad once and it was definitely no frills, but that was exactly how it was stated on the menu. I would not go there for the salad.
