The service was great and the restaurant was cozy and cool on a hot summer night! My husband enjoyed the Scallop Fra Diavlo! It had great spice and the scallops were cooked well. I got the chicken Verona and it too was delicious. My daughter had the ravioli and meatball and ate every bite so I know she enjoyed her meal and my son got the Baked Haddock which unfortunately he was disappointed with because it was overcooked and rubbery. For dessert we got the blonde brownie sundae to share and it was eaten in 30 seconds! Overall a nice place for dinner! read more

The service was terrible, took like 20 minutes just for her to come back and get out food and took her 30 minutes for us to then order. horrible service. My food was terrible I ordered a fettuccine Alfredo and it was soupy and disgusting. The owner didn't do anything she just socialized and sat with customers while the servers cleaned up the tables. We went with friends to Capellini's last week. My husband and I ordered chicken cutlet Parmesan and our friends ordered shrimp Diablo and chicken Valdostana. All four of us were very happy with our meals. The chicken Parm was some of the best that I have had. The service was friendly and efficient. I was in a wheelchair and found everything accessible. My husband and I stopped to get gas on the way home. While he was out pumping gas, I ate his leftover chicken Parm ha ha. I had no utensils, and I didn't care! When we got home, he was a little surprised when he opened his container of leftovers. So yes, I would recommend Capellini's big time! read more

The service was good, we had an appetizer (fried calamari) which was good and two veal dishes, one was listed as having Prosciutto (veal saltimboca) which was nowhere to be found, although it was ok, the other veal Marsala has very little of what was supposed to have as ingredients, mushrooms and prosciutto but was ok. The ambiance was relatively quiet and the seating prompt. We'll go back but they could do better in the cooking side. I grew up in Tewksbury , haven't been back in years. Decided to stop at capellini's for an early dinner . 10 years later and the food is still spot on. Cozy atmosphere, friendly waitstaff . I had veal saltibucca over fettuccine which could easily have rivaled any Italian meal in the north end . And a delicious fresh crispy salad . We've been customers for years. We've eaten in, gotten take out, and ordered trays for numerous parties over the years. In the past, we've been generally satisfied. This review pertains to our experience this past Monday night. First, the restaurant was freezing, and the AC was blowing cold air. Despite comments from other patrons, there was no attempt to adjust the thermostat. Perhaps the system was broken. Second, it seemed as though the portions have gotten smaller. I realize restaurants are dealing with supply chain issues and inflation, but the prices have gone up as well. Third, worst of all, my meal horrendous and possibly the worst meal I've ever had an Italian restaurant. I ordered the homemade gnocchi with bolognese sauce. What appeared in front of me looked almost like cubes of tofu in a cream sauce. The "gnocchi" were huge (not a good thing) so that I had to cut into them with a knife. Because they were so big, they were undercooked and were chewy and doughy. The "bolognese" sauce had barely any meat in it. The whole family was disappointed, and we won't be returning until we see evidence that they've improved. read more

We went here last night. We both ordered lasagna with 2 meatballs. The lasagna had a tiny bit of cheese in between the pasta. No sauce except for the very top of the pasta. No mozzarella! Very dry and cold. Asked for bread, 2 pieces (that was ok), cold and no butter, came with oil which tasted diluted. This is a rating for the meal only. Our waitress was excellent. ! Capellini's is wonderful! We were travelling as a group of 50 soccer players/staff and had catering services from Capellini's for 3 suppers over 3 days. Their menu offered a variety of dishes that kept our group well nourished and happy. Dealing with the restaurant was amazing. The communication was quick and clear, delivery was prompt, and the food was delicious. Maria was incredibly helpful in suggesting dishes and substitutions that were popular with the crowd. When I first started going to Capellini's the food was delicious. I've ordered several different things on the menu but my favorite was always the Capellini Special. A few years ago, anything with pasta and sauce, whether it be a red or white, whatever, was watered down because the pasta was not strained enough and watered down the sauce which in the end took away the flavor of the whole dish. I had considered asking the server to ask the chef to make sure they strain the pasta of all water but I didn't see that going over well. I hadn't gone back in awhile and I finally decided to try again about a month ago. Unfortunately, same story. I ended up lifting my pasta plate and straining the water into another dish. I am writing this in hopes that someone from the restaurant reads this and tells the chefs to take and extra five seconds and get the water out of the pasta before putting the sauce on. Also, to let them know, I have a circle of friends who use to frequent their restaurant have said the same thing. The recipe's are good, PLEASE stop watering them away! read more

Haven't sat down there in awhile but did order takeout. $35 bucks for a panini ( more like an oversized slider) with side salad. Thought it would be big enough to have two "halves" as in I was going to eat a half sandwich and leave the 2nd half for my son who was coming home from work late. I ate like 1/4 of it and felt guilty it was so small. Eggplant was not cooked enough, was chewy. No sauce on it at all?? Son ate the sandwich. Asked him if he was going to have the salad...he said he opened it and there was a hair in it so that went right in the trash. Also ordered a chicken parm dinner. It must have been a half of a chicken breast. Pasta was an optional side...(?) for 18 bucks? It's pasta.. Appallingly small portion. Real bummer. I dont mind spending 35 bucks but I found the portions for that price...insulting. Really disappointing. read more

Whoa.. I can't believe there's not more 5 star reviews for this place! We had our first visit about a month ago and we're hooked. The dipping oil for the bread is so amazing! I've had stuffed shells, chicken parm and chicken piccata. Every single thing has been so delicoius. My Fiance loves this place and got two different salmon dishes and has been nothing but happy! My girlfriend and I were in the mood for Italian and she mentioned a place she loved that she defined as a "hidden gem". It was my first time dining at Capellini's walking in we had a very friendly greeting from the manager and a host- I have to say the food was tasty, savory and well prepared. The service was excellent, and its a cozy, cute and romantic little place. It's a nice restaurant to get a glass of wine and have a large selection of Italian favorites. We had the wedge salad, toasted raviolis and minestrone soup to start. We then finished with the chicken parmigiana, stuffed shells (the favorite) and chicken Marsala. I have never been more disappointed in a restaurant in my life . I ordered from this place for the first time a few weeks ago ( chicken Rosaria).. and it was good . So , I ordered again., this time chicken Alfredo .. hardly any chicken and dry pasta . I let it go and ordered again this past Friday ( chicken Francese). The website says a half tray feeds 6-8.. I got 4 pieces of chicken . I called to complain. I was told how sorry they are and to come in for a complimentary replacement meal . So , I did that today .. and it's WORSE . The pieces are even smaller than Friday and no way no how does this feed 6-8 people . What a disgrace . New customer .. no longer a customer . Didn't even try to make it better .. just mad that I got a free meal and to top it off didn't close lid well and it's all over my car .. though I had a new place to get dinner .. no thank you .. the second picture is what they think one serving size is . This really use to be a go-to place for my family in town. It may have started slipping judging by last week's takeout order. I ordered the Capellini Special with shrimp, and I was looking forward to the flavors of black olives, artichokes, tomatoes, and a garlic wine sauce just to find that despite the variety, the dish was mostly tasteless. It had no distinct flavor and I felt as if I was eating a rather plain pasta meal. I tried a stuffed mushroom, which was again average. My family was somewhat disappointed with their meals as well. Due to this, I believe it is drastically overpriced. I wouldn't go as far as the other reviews and call it Olive Garden, but I think Capellini's needs to step up to what it once was. read more
