For starters, the lady that answered the phone was rude. Also rude in person. I got a cold cut sub and the cold cuts were clearly old and tasted awful. There must have been an upcharge on the vegetables because the price didn't match the internet price or the price on the take out menu. I could not eat a $15 sub. Will not return. read more

Worcester restaurant week specials were amazing. This was our first visit to Amici and we will be back! The food was fantastic. Desserts offered with the restaurant week promo were somewhat lackluster. We saw other things go by that we would try next time. fresh pasta was a $3 up charge & we took it. The atmosphere here was nonexistent. It's a strip mall joint and the interior made no effort to hide that. I was scoping out an Italian restaurant to bring a group to and I quickly realized that this was not the place. I do expect that it would be decent for takeout. One of my favorite restaurants in Chelmsford. Not a glitzy or a glamorous place, but it's always clean, the staff is friendly & courteous. Recently ordered an eggplant parm & a cheese pizza, can easily say that nothing was left over. Pizza was perfect as was the entree. In the past have enjoyed & continue to order chicken Marsala & chicken francese! Both are delicious dishes! Also enjoy their meatball subs, steak & cheese calzones & homemade meatballs are delicious! This establishment is far more upscale than its location indicates. Fancy even! Auspicious menu with lots of choices. A bit pricey but excellent quality. My husband had the short ribs with ravioli. Odd combo but he enjoyed. I had a wedge salad which was actually quite delicious in its simplicity. Excellent quality blue cheese and the addition of roasted corn which added texture and taste. Overall we were impressed. This would be a place we would easily bring out of town guests looking for a high quality meal. It's too bad they overlook a parking lot!! read more

The Tortellini Piselli was very very greasy! I picked the tortellini out of the sauce and it was very tasty. I hope the "chef" can master the sauce because as of now: ehh, I've had better. The Steak Bomb was really "Da Bomb!" I love Philly Steaks sandwiches and this hit the spot! Not Sure if they got a new chef, but their food has gotten so much better in the past 8 years! Let's just be honest now about this place. We've been patronizing the place for many years. A couple of guys toiling in the back, making good food. Quality pizza, great Italian dishes from scratch, even surprisingly nice sandwiches. Yet, a grumpy troll working the front counter; someone who would drive away business from any other place but this place has survived despite her curt manner and ugly disposition. We have been spending on takeout food to support our local businesses. This is not necessarily disposable income, but we feel this spending is important. And in most cases, we are proud and happy to keep going back to these places. So when the restaurant gets our food wrong, that is forgivable. When it is cold, also somewhat forgivable. But when the order is wrong and the food is cold, and the reaction to our plight is a snickering response, that's a little tough to take. When we returned (2 round trips - this place does not deliver) to retrieve our missing food, the troll blamed the omission on the customer. A meek apology followed. And nothing to make up for the restaurant's mistake. We are done with Amici. Good luck to you. If you've checked out and plan to close down, please do so quickly so we can get a decent replacement. Perhaps a place with friendly and efficient staff. We will happily support you. In the meantime, you should not bother with Amici. read more

I echo an earlier review- reasonable prices, good portion size, and tasty food! I'll also add great service to that. We had dinner there last night (Wednesday) and our waiter was very attentive. I loved my steak bomb calzone and could only finish half of it, so looking forward to leftovers today. Waiter packaged it up and added some marinara in a to-go cup which was greatly appreciated. Last weekend I got lost looking for the bike path around lunchtime, so I thought I'd try Amici before my ride. They don't have slices here- only whole pies, but their prices were very reasonable. My husband and I split a medium, which was pretty big and we had leftovers. I was pleasantly surprised that the pizza was delicious. I wasn't expecting much since we just kind of stumbled on Amici, but sometimes that's the best type of meal. They use a real pizza oven (none of that awful conveyor belt oven stuff that seems to be so popular in the Boston area) and the crust was cooked perfectly. I love a good crust. Sauce was delicious- just sweet enough without being overly sugary, and the cheese was melted to perfection. The staff here was super friendly. They kept our water glasses filled and even helped us try to figure out where the bike path was. If I was ever in this area again, I would definitely go back. read more

We have ordered take out from there for years. Food is decent so we have always come back. However, one of the staff working the register - an older woman can be very grumpy and curt at times. In fact, my wife and I went there recently to order take out. This same woman was visibly upset and vocal about being understaffed - very nasty. She made customers uneasy with her disposition. The fact that her behavior has been allowed for so many years makes me question the owner - an acceptable way to act in front of customers? Never been here before but were really craving some Italian food and being from nearby saw the reviews on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I'm glad we did. I'll be honest, pulling up into the parking lot I didn't have high hopes. From outside it really looked like a cheap pizza joint, and that really wasn't what I had in mind. But being kind of hungry and on the late side for lunch (2PM on a Saturday) we decided to give it a try anyhow. Now, be forewarned, the restaurant is not about ambiance or appearance here. The place was clean, and everything was functional, but the restaurant is sort of on the lower end in terms of décor and ambiance. Personally, I couldn't care less about that stuff, I'm more about the food. If a place is clean and the staff friendly, the food is my major focus and if that passes muster, I'm good to go. Our server was friendly, polite, and attentive. They brought out bread for us to start, it was warm and pretty good. We ordered the penne with Bolognese and the Chicken Marsala (which came with a side of penne with marinara). The food looked great, presentation was pretty basic but again, I care more about quality and taste. All the food tasted great. The pasta was cooked perfectly, firm but not hard or crunchy in the middle. The Bolognese was very good, lots of beef. The Chicken Marsala was excellent, the chicken tender, the sauce flavorful but not too sweet. Lots of mushrooms in the sauce. Even the basic marinara sauce was done well. Portion sizes were excellent, and they offer a dinner and lunch portion option for the meals so that works out great depending on how hungry you might be or whether you want leftovers or not. All in all, this place far exceeded my expectation. Clean restaurant, friendly service, great food and not too bad on the wallet. I felt the quality of the food and portion sizes were well worth what the bill came to. This place is one of those places that doesn't look like much but once you sit down and start eating, you're glad you decided to try it. We'll definitely be back. read more

This place was awesome! I checked it out prior to making the drive as I was about 30 mins away. It's tucked away in a little side plaza, and I actually almost missed it. The rolls they brought out were so warm and delicious! I opted for the chicken, broccoli and penne in a white wine sauce with cheesy garlic bread. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce was delicious. I didn't realize the garlic bread would be so big, but it was definitely worth it. The pricing was amazing too! 1. Lettuce doing the backstroke in a pool of flavorless salad dressing in both the greek and the cesar salad. 2. Calamari Fra Diavolo that tasted really fishy (which means either it's gone "wrong" or it's canned and they didn't rinse it) - and why can't you offer calamari on a plate as an appetizer for dinner when you do it for lunch?? 3. Penne & Broccoli in a white wine sauce - I've never seen such pale broccoli before, oversteamed. And an absolute lack of flavor in the sauce. 4. Chicken Bianco - again, overcooked vegetables with no color (it's winter, yes, but come on!) and a flavorless sauce - I added lots of fresh ground pepper to get some flavor into it. I've never had garlic cloves that didn't taste like garlic. How do they do that? 5. Penne & Sausage - ok, this at least tasted fine, the sauce was good (and the spicy rhode island sauce on the calamari would have been nice had it not been fishy). The sausage on the other hand was overground and had no flavor (hmmm, I detect a theme) 6. Baked Penne - this was the best dish we had, meat sauce, lots of cheese, pretty good. We ordered this as take out last night, maybe ate half of the food. We actually took the calamari back to the restaurant later, just to let them know that it was unsatisfactory. They offered a credit for another dish. When we said no thanks because we wouldn't be returning, the waitress said "well then what do you want me to do?" and we said "tell whoever made this calamari that it was awful and not prepared properly and to do it better in the future." I'd hope that the pizza, which is half their menu, tastes better, but there are too many other places. Oh, and when we first got their to pick up our order, the girl behind the counter went into a panic "uh-oh, I wicked screwed up". turns out she gave our order to the previous customer. she called them and they returned with our food. but then she realized she overcharged them, so she calculated the adjustment, which is what she processed on our credit card. and then had to cancel it and process the correct amount on ours. The saving grace to the meal was the bottle of Ruffino Classic Chianti that we bought at Harrington's across the street. read more

Delighted to have finally tried this local joint, based on the two things I've tried so far. I liked the Amici special pizza because: * The crust was home-made, not the frozen Wonder Bread that every local pizza joint around here seems to use. I think a good pizza crust is one that would make a good bread: crunchy on the outside, dense and seriously chewy inside. * It wasn't oversauced -- pizza should have just enough sauce to moisten, not so much that the crust becomes soggy. * The sauce was savory, not sweet. Like Andrew, I *HATE* sweet tomato sauces. I've also had the tortellini arrabiata: I thought the tortellini and brocolli were slightly overcooked, but that might be my fault for taking it home instead of eating there. Even so, the simple garlic and olive oil sauce, with its slow burn from the red pepper flakes, was delicious. read more

I've eaten here a few times. The food has always been really good. I had the baked rigatoni last time which was great and me fiancés pasta dish which I had contemplated getting was fantastic. It tasted like a chicken Marsala dish. We had no problems with the service. I will definitely go back. Also I always need to put tons of sugar on my pasta sauce to avoid heartburn. I didn't need to do this here at all and I got no heartburn later. I was very happy about that. read more

Growing up in Chelmsford amici's was my go to for Italian. The chicken broccoli and penne is wonderful, chicken Marsala is great and the sub is even better- toasted with provolone cheese! For pizza, the Bianca is my go-to, although the regular red sauce pizza is great as well. read more

Amici Trattoria serves large portions at a reasonable price. We went for the first time on a Friday night. The place was packed. We had a 45minute wait to get a table. It was worth it! I asked the waitress if the crowd was typical. She said it is usually really crowded on Friday nights. We tried the Bruschetta for the appetizer. It was three thick slices of Italian bread, topped with baked cheese, a garlic flavored olive oil, covered with tomatoes and basil. Delicious. For meals, I tried the lasagna. It was huge, and came with a meatball for under $10. My wife had the pasta with red clam sauce. The portion was large enough that she was only able to finish half of it. Dessert was a home made cannoli. We'll definitely go back again, but may try a different night. read more

Boneless buffalo chicken: Good 2. Calamari fra diavolo: Our favorite! 3. Chicken marsala: My bf thought it was ok, I didn't like it. - The pasta dinner entrees are very big, enough to feed two! Our waitress was very upbeat and kind, unlike our first time here in which the waitress looked like she was miserable and hated her job. It really makes a difference! Very nice folks. Even on a super busy Fri & then the next Sat nights. We liked the pizza (cheese & sausage), chicken parm & a couple pasta dishes. We ate in once, had take out twice during our stay in Chelmsford. The eat in was great with efficient, professional server. The take out was fine, except they forgot the dressing for our salad, we were close enough to go back & get it. We tried some canollis. Nice sweet treat, but like a bit more chocolate chips or powdered sugar in mine. (wicked sweet tooth!) Plenty of parking, but hopping on the wkend. read more
