Strip Mall Hidden Gem lunch spot with fantastic lunch specials and generous portions. Most "standard" subs come with a can of soda under $7 for weekday lunches. I found the meatballs to be bland but the rest are quite good, especially the Amici (prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, basil and oil) and the veal parm. Pastas are all under $10 and filling; seafoods are surprisingly good for a quick-serve place. Pizzas are well made and cooked perfectly, with a slightly sweet sauce and crispy, flavorful thin crust. I've been living a 5 min walk from this place for two years now but this was the first time I ate there. I ordered take-out but it's nice enough to sit there and eat next time even though it is small. The people at the front were really nice. I told them I lived nearby and was new in town. They greeted me warmly and made some recommendations. I got the stuffed shells with one large meatball. YUM! The ricotta was smooth with flecks of real basil and not too salty. The sauce was nice and thick with a nice balance between salt, herbs, tang and sweetness. The meatball had the perfect texture and tasted great. I appreciated the extra protein. My hubs got chicken parm. The coating was well seasoned and the pasta cooked al dente but the chicken was soggy. Next time I will order the tomato sauce on the side and put it on when I get home. Although food is decent it never fails and the order is prepared incorrectly. Too much focus on FAST versus LISTEN & FOLLOW THROUGH. Brucetta is only good if served with tomatoes and oil on side, otherwise, bread is as soggy as if it were in onion soup. I did ask for it to be separate and they did say sure....but no go, again. I always loved this restaurant, good food, staff seemed friendly. Until i went there recently for some takeout. I signed my check and gave a $2 tip to bring my total to $22.22, a very easy number to remember. I checked my bank statement today, and the amount is $23.22. Prior to finding Amici Trattoria I had never encountered an Italian place where every dish I order is wonderful; this is the place! Every meal I have had here is excellent (including the cannoli!). Portions are large and usually result in leftovers, which is okay by me. The dining area is very small because the front of the restaurant is geared towards take-out but it's fine for casual dining. The staff is friendly and patient (my family has some indecisive orderers) and the prices are very, very reasonable. We stumbled across this place by accident (we were originally supposed to eat somewhere else but had the wrong address) and now I want to go here all the time. read more

YUM! Only tried this place once so far, but based on that experience we will definitely be repeat customers. Since we live around the corner and had heard good things, we decided to grab take out from here one night, and were glad we did. I ordered the Chicken Broccoli and Ziti, which had a delicious garlic butter lemon & white wine sauce; like a Picatta but without capers. The pasta was cooked al dente, and the chicken tasted nice and tender and almost like it was lightly breaded before it was sautéed. My fiancé had Veal Parm which he raved about upon his first bite. We both cleaned the sauce off our plates with the rolls they gave us! We both had enough leftover for lunch for the next day too. Not sure why this place has such good reviews, the food is subpar. Ordered dinner for takeout and they forgot an item. Didnt realize it until we got home and called them to let them know and the person on the phone asked if I had a receipt. Why would you ask a customer for a receipt when you never give one out?? Well then they said they would have the missing item ready in 15 minutes. When we went to pick it up, charged another $16 for the item because they said they never entered it the first time..... that's a total of $65 on dinner. They didnt even offer anything for their mistake. Do you think a customer wants to drive 15 minutes home to drive back there for your mistake? Could've have offered a discount or something, instead I get an insincere "sorry" . If you are looking for quick, no flavor Italian food, then this is your place. read more

Went to Amici Trattoria last night as it was 100 degrees out and too hot too cook! The place had the air conditioning blasting, so we were quite comfortable. Dinner rolls were warm and tasty. I had the Linguine Alfredo and added chicken. Hubby had Linguine w/White Clam Sauce. Both were excellent and there were plenty of chopped and whole clams in the clam sauce (something that was lacking at nearby pricey Andiamo's). Flavors were great and very authentic.The portions were big. Plenty left over for lunch the next day. Service was friendly and prompt. The bill only came to a little over $30 (we also had a beer and coke) so the value is awesome. Thanks and will be back again soon! read more

Been out of action for a bit....an overseas vacation and moving into a house. It has been the move, from Dracut to Chelmsford, that brought us to Amici Trattoria. What to do when you've moved and your kitchen is in boxes? Find some take out. Amici's fit the bill. We had a Greek salad to split...very ordinary but lots of feta. I had the eggplant parmigiana. It was tasty but the eggplant was a bit mushy. Still, after a day of schlepping boxes, it fit the bill. My partner had chicken parm which he thought was quite good. Both entrees came with a side of penne in red sauce. The sauce was good but there was not enough! We'd like to give their pizza a try in the future. Overall, Amici's is a 'typical' neighborhood Italian place; fits the bill for the hood but not a place I'd go out of my way to visit. read more

I've been working in Chelmsford for 7 years, and Amici's has become one of my favorite places to go for lunch. I've never eaten dinner there, though, so keep in mind that this review is for their lunch only. I usually get the $5.50 sub and a soda deal, which really is a fantastic deal considering that their subs are much higher quality and less expensive than just about any sub shop around. I especially recommend the Chicken Milanese sandwich, although the Buffalo Chicken, Chicken Parm, and Amici's Sandwich are all superb as well. If you're willing to spend a couple more bucks, the pasta is excellent too. The chicken, brocolli, and penne is very good, but my favorite is the tortellini piselli. Next time you're craving a sandwich for lunch and are thinking of going to a sub shop, go here instead - you won't regret it. read more

Love it. Great inexpensive Italian cooking. Recommended for lunch or dinner, they crush everything they do. Subs, pizza, but also Classic Italian meals like Marsala, Parmesan, lasagna, chicken broccoli ziti etc. and they do a really good job at it all! The value at Amici's is off the charts. My friend turned me on to Amici's a few Saturdays ago after we'd seen a late-afternoon movie up the street. I was a little worried when, at 5:30 on a weekend night, we walked in and we were the only ones sitting down to dine but my concerns were quickly dispelled by the waitperson who, when I told her it was my first time, replied "You're in for a treat!" So the place is short on ambience which is just the way I like it. I don't like paying a premium for someone's idea of fancy decorating. The side salads we both had were fresh and ample. He had a veal dish, I had chicken sautéed in garlic and oil with lemon. It was very good and neither of us could finish the huge portions and asked for doggie bags. Surprised to see such mediocre reviews. I will admit I've only eaten here once, but I went to try it due to rave reviews from a local in Chelmsford. My husband and I loved their red sauce. We got Chicken Parm and Eggplant Parm as take-out. (There were a few small tables in the place, but it's nothing fancy.) Both dishes were excellent. The side of penne was cooked perfectly--so many places overcook the pasta. They sent us away with quite a bit of food, definitely enough for 2 meals each, and included 2 rolls with each order which I thought was a nice touch. I will definitely be going back here. The staff was very friendly too. Two things to note: pretty sure the sign on the door said they were closed on Sundays. Also, didn't noticed any dessert on the take-out menu, but maybe they have something if you dine in. read more

First visit to Amici. Had the Veal Parmesan per Mom's recommendation and it was excellent as was the house Chianti which had a 90 score label. Service from Frank was great and as attentive as possible given the tables were all full and he was a one man show constantly on the run. Kudos to him for keeping the guests happy with beverages, rolls and piping hot food as soon as it came up. Food quality, taste and menu choices bode well for success provided additional table support is provided. Amici did a disservice tonight to both guests and their team member. A bus person or second server would have kept the flow moving and tables turned quicker to seat guests who were waiting for tables because some guests (us included) waited at least 20 minutes or more to get our check and pay. Definitely worth a return visit just don't be in a hurry. read more

OMG...what can I say other than Wow! This place has dishes that are extremely hard to find in America. Their Amatriciana is every bit as good as anything I've ever had in Italy! Anything they make with gnocchi is going to be awesome as well. This is well worth your trip. Promise. read more

this restaurant happens to be across the street from my gym, so pretty much any gains at the gym are overtaken by dinner here. The food is delicious. great red sauce, pizza is great, all toppings fresh. We recently took advantage of the Tuesday night two-fer: 2 entrees, 2 salads and garlic bread for $25 bux. It was delicious and still plenty hot by the time we got it home. They also included a bag of fresh hot rolls. Still would like to dine-in, so far have only enjoyed take out. They have beer and wine. The garlic bread was good. But my pizza was bland - the sauce was watery and the crust was like cardboard. I went to Amici because the line for Bertuccis was too long. Next time I'll go to Papa Ginos instead if Bertucci's is crowded. I can't rate the pasta dishes though the aroma from the kitchen smelled good. read more

They really need to expand the bar area because right now it's 8-10 seats and not situated very well shrinking down to no space at all on one end due to a angled wall. Some of the best Italian food that doesn't come out of my kitchen, and even better Marsala than I make. You can eat in or take out - either way the food is delicious and the prices are reasonable.
