I have been a loyal customer 29 years since they are literally down the end of the street. We stopped liking the thick Greek style of pizza but loved the subs and dinners. In the last 2 weeks we ordered subs twice. The first order was 4 subs, they were ok but so many ingredients were missing. Tonight we ordered 2 turkey club subs and 2 toasted Italian subs. One sub had no turkey and the 2 Italians were not toasted. I called the shop and spoke w Arthur the owner instead of coming on here first. His comments were oh well, what do you want me to do about it, I told him he was going to loose a loyal customer and he didn't care. Oh Spartan Pizza, you treat me so well and Mama Spartan when I come in to pick up my dinner and you hand it to me, I feel like I'm getting a home cooked meal from my own mother. This little pizza and sub shop is great. It's prolly one of the best in it's class. They are a good $5 cheaper from alternatives (Suppa's and Broadway). It's also a mom and pop shop, so you feel good about helping out your neighbors. Three out of the 4 days, I've had the same exact thing for dinner, and it was a grilled chicken sub (on a syrian), and it has been perfect every time (and cheap!). Ordering off their menu saturday, I wanted a grilled chicken caesar wrap, but there wasn't one on their menu, so I ordered a grilled chicken sub and asked for some mods, and no hassle at all! (And not a lot of extra fees). How was it? So good, I ordered the same thing for the past two days. It helps that it's either my choices on the way home from work are, Mcdonalds, Wendy's, go to MB and buy groceries, or Spartan... At least with romaine lettuce and grilled chicken I don't feel like that much of a fat kid... except when I order a small fry and eat the whole thing myself. FYI their fries are greasy, delicious, and a small is large enough for 2 or 3. On terms of health, remember the episode of the Simpsons when homer gains weight, to the advice that if it turns a napkin clear you should eat it... well the white paper bag is way transparent when you take the fries out. It's a good place, and if they don't have something on the menu you like, I'm pretty sure they will work with you! read more

GREAT FAMILY RESTAURANT! 3,4 stars? No way, moved away 10 years ago and every time I come home I'm sure to grab lunch and/or dinner from them. You don't appreciate a great local family owned spot till you don't have it anymore! Great pizzas, even better subs(try the grilled chicken w/lettuce and tomato), they'll even grill the sub roll and it adds the last touch of delicious! I love Spartan Pizza and am glad they are still here and hope they are here as long as their hearts desire! P.S. I will admit, for the way these folks work, I am being harsh on them for 3 stars. Spartan's has been here for years and is a local family run establishment. They served lunch and dinner but have recently opened up for breakfast, something I have not tried out. The place has been recently revamped and looks better. I have visited this place since I was a child and overall I can say it is good. Nothing great, but never nothing bad. My only gripe with them is the last time i ordered a chicken finger dinner, it was all dark meat. I really don't like dark meat and it is the first time I have been ever been served dark chicken at a pizza joint. All other times have been satisfactory. The folks who run the place clearly know what they are doing, although are not the most personable of people out there. For the amount of times I have been here, I expect more friendly service. They don't seem to recognize familiar faces and don't seem to have much of a personality. When I volunteered for the Lowell Auxiliary Police, they charged me $5 for like $30 worth of food when I went in in uniform. Probably illegal, at the very least unethical, but I loved it! I will try them again but am in no need a hurry. read more

Solid buffalo finger pizza, although it's more grilled than fried chicken. Could've used more lettuce on it. Delivery was fast, overall tolerably priced, and they made it through a snowstorm just fine. Did like that it was a combo of buffalo and tomato sauce -- very kicky. I got a salad with buffalo chicken on it and the chicken was a little slimy, shame on me for eating it but I was really hungry. Worst decision I ever made because it made me so sick I was hospitalized with gastroenteritis and got hepatitus A and Im convinced it was the chicken. DO NOT ORDER CHICKEN BROCOLI ZITI. First off it isn't even Alfredo sauce that they use, even though the menu says that. If you're interested in garlic bread, it comes with a great side of soggy bread with a garlic spread that might be expired by 3 years.
