I always return to popular places that I didn't connect with in the same way super fans do. Sometimes, I think I got it right. And sometimes, I have to admit I got it wrong. In the case of Tulmeadow Farm and Lacroix's Homemade (I'm posting the same update for both), I have to admit that I had it somewhat wrong. Both Tulmeadow and Lacroix's made @cticecreamtour's Top 15 CT Creameries. My original reviews for both Tulmeadow and Lacroix's were both good btw. I just didn't initially connect with the flavors I tried in the way that I did with my other CT favorites. Since those initial reviews, everything I tried at each has been a banger. At Tulmeadow, I recently had Red Raspberry Chocolate Chip, Marshmallow Toasted Cornflake, Chocolate Raspberry Raspberry Curd and the best flavor I've had this year -- Double Raspberry Crumbcake. The flavors all popped. The use of intensely flavored raspberry curd in a couple of the ice creams was next level. The colors were right on. The texture was top tier. Service was friendly and the farm setting adds to the experience. Tulmeadow is 5 Stars and I'm upgrading my earlier review. read more

I was recommended Tulmeadow Farm's ice cream by one of my most trusted foodie friends, so I was extremely excited to try it. That said, I don't often like high butterfat ice cream. It's also a textural thing for me. So there was a bit of hesitation as well. I thought the ice cream was excellent. They had great flavors to choose from. I went with the bestselling red raspberry chocolate chip, and then the burnt honey sea salt. Service was super friendly. I asked what the smallest size was that they could do two flavors in and they were more than willing to accommodate the kiddie cup, which was still plenty of ice cream for me. I think the sign said it's 3 oz, but it at least seemed like more to me. As good as the red raspberry was, I think I preferred the burnt honey. The flavor was strong went well with the naturally occurring cream flavor. There was a lot of parking on the side of the building. I think there was an indoor area, though I can't confirm if you can order ice cream inside. I used the outdoor window to order. I also found the prices to be reasonable. Great first experience. I would definitely recommend the ice cream. It did not disappoint, and I look forward to having it again. read more

Very cute lil farm with delicious home made ice cream! The options of flavors were endless and sound very tasty. I got a scoop of coffee heath bar and their red raspberry with chocolate chips (ran out of raspberry oreo) but this was still tasty. This shop is adorable! I went in March, definitely their odd season, but the ice cream coolers were still full. Outside has a open area with stereotypical lighting for a hoe down or line dance. They even had cow themed trash cans. The inside, as I said, had many coolers of ice cream from chocolate, to corn, to pup cups. They also had lots of local Connecticut themed products, such as candy and cutting boards. They even had lovely cheese and seasonal vegetables. The ice cream I got a carton to take, and although it stayed a little soft, it had a great chocolate taste. I need to meet whoever the mastermind of the flavors are, never would have thought to do blueberry goat cheese fresh honey or green tea passionfruit with white chocolate chips as flavor combinations! Blueberry, goat cheese, honey {4.5/5}: The only reason this wasn't a 5/5 is purely based on the fact that I don't like goat cheese, but it was subtle enough that I was really happy with this flavor and the swirls of fresh honey was very very good Raspberry Oreo {5/5}: Tasted like raspberry Oreo cheesecake, but lighter and very refreshing. This farm stand is super delightful. There is a store and an ice cream window. They have all sorts of flowers and plants out front. Walking in, I was greeted by a friendly employee. They had all sorts of items; ice cream, ice cream sandwiches, handmade soaps, jewelery, honey, maple syrup, candy, sauces, fruits, veggies, milk, eggs, lollipop, chocolate, meats, and various accessories. The store gave me that friendly small town vibe. The owners, The Tullers, have been farming on this land since 1768! I specifically went in for the ice cream; they had so many flavors to choose from. I had the m&m cookie and graham cracker ice cream sandwiches, the cookies were chewy and the ice cream was super creamy. I also had the pint of Ube (purple potato) boba ice cream; the ice cream was so smooth and creamy, the flavor of ube was light and delicious, the boba was hard and chewy. I think I'd like it more without the boba; I did notice they had the Ube and chocolate chip version I might try out next. I am looking forward to going back to get some more ice cream because they were so good and had so many flavors to try. I like that they experiment and have unique flavors. Also, I love to support small local businesses, especially when they produce quality items. There is a walking trail onsite. Still, the very best ice cream in the Valley. The farm store is open during the Age of Coronavirus, so you can pick up some fruits and vegetables. Actually you can't pick them up, just tell the workers what you want and they'll package it up for you. As soon as you walk in, you are blocked off by tables. Tulmeadow ice cream is some of the best in the country. Full stop. It's been a favorite in our extended family for three generations now. The market lights and the sunset over the rural setting are the perfect way to end any night. My wife really loves the red raspberry chocolate chip, while I'm a big fan of the lemon biscoff. All the ice cream is the perfect creamy texture and filled with bold flavor. Also be sure to stop inside for an interesting assortment of local foods and goods, including produce! I've tried their pizza crust before and it's on point!! The service but inside and it has been friendly and attentive. I was also with friends who are lactose intolerance and vegan and they LOVED the plant based milk flavors. It was the best ice cream I've ever had. Just as she had said, "more chocolatey than coffee". It was so light. The dropped star is only for the plastic/single use spoons, but at least they aren't automatically handed to you the sundae or ice cream cups-the wonderful kiddos working here asked beforehand, so if you remember (or read this review) you're able to say "no thanks!" and use the bamboo ones you keep in your car. A friend of mine down in Charleston, SC recommended Tulmeadow's ice cream. We found ourselves nearbyish this weekend and stopped in, with empty coolers in the trunk of our car. While they aren't scooping ice cream, they are currently offering ice cream sandwiches to go or you can grab a pint or a quart. We helped ourselves and grabbed every flavor that looked unique and appealing. We walked out with a combination of 8 pints and quarts, including the red raspberry chocolate chip that was highly recommended to me. The storefront has a great set up. There's plenty of parking available, whether you're picking up or enjoying a few bites outside. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is no picture, because it was so delicious I ate the ice cream so fast! A friend convinced me to give this place a try. She described how creamy and delicious their ice cream is. They had many yummy looking flavors so I got the coffee ice cream with heath bar in it. It was so Creamy and delicious. The ice cream is really good and the other reviews reflect that. They are right! It is my favorite ice cream in town. But there is more. This is a true farm store, not a lot of imported produce etc. They sell their own produce and other items but but they also sell food from other local producers,like honey, Kanes's pot pies, dairy for various local producers, baked goods, some crafty like things etc. before COVID I liked walking around the store to see what was new, . But do check out their own beef from the farm. It's awesome. What they have will vary but you can cook. Get what they have and make it into a Sunday dinner. It is worth it.
