Flamig Farm is one of the coolest farms I've been to in a long time! Located in West Simsbury, I would highly recommend visiting if you have younger children, as they have a variety of different activities including a petting zoo, pony and hay rides, and (during December) visits with Santa. Once you arrive you'll know you're at the right place when you see the giant backwards "EGGS" sign on the front of the red barn. I started by going inside their Egg Room and Farm Store, which is not very big, but does sell farm-fresh eggs, local honey, jams, pork and grass-fed beef, etc. They also have a lot of merchandise/souvenirs with their backwards "EGGS" logo. While you're inside, say hi to the birds, guinea pigs, and baby chickens that are near the register. After looking around the farm store, I went outside to check out the petting zoo. Admission is $8.00, with children under 2 and seniors over 80 being free. You can also buy a cup of grain for $2.00 to feed the animals, or a bucket for $5.00. Flamig Farm has a fairly extensive petting zoo, with pigs, goats, donkeys, sheep, alpaca, llamas, horses, cows, emus, chickens, geese and ducks, and more! You can pet and feed most of the animals, who were very friendly! Keep in mind that the petting zoo is only open from April until mid-November, 9am-5pm. Dogs are also not permitted on the farm unless they are certified Service Dogs with proper paperwork. The farm also offers pony rides for kids on Saturdays/Sundays from 11am-3pm, April through November, weather permitting. It's $5.00 per ride, with an 80-pound weight limit. Tractor rides are also available by reservation, or during the fall on weekends from 11am-3pm, weather permitting. $5.00 per person, and under age 2 is free. During the month of October, the farm offers a "Haunted Walkthrough," and during December they have visits with Santa Clause. Make sure to check their website for dates/hours and to buy tickets in advance. The only staff member I really interacted with was when I bought my ticket to the petting zoo, but she was friendly. Overall Flamig Farm is a great spot to spend an afternoon and make some new animal friends. I would highly recommend checking it out!

Went here with my wife when another farm in the area said they were open but weren't. Everyone at this farm from the parking attendant to the person that sold the feed for the animals was pleasant and knowledgeable. Everything was very reasonably priced the animals were very clean and well cared for. All the vendors that sold food were good too especially the kettle corn that was delicious. All and all can't wait to come back.

What a fun place. I was visiting my cousin and her kids and we decide to check out this place. We bought a bucket of food and went around feeding the animals. I got to see a on beautiful horses. The horses did this funny taping for more food. It was so funny.

Flaming farm has been a family favorite for YEARS. Every time we go we are never disappointed. The animals are the cutest, they offer pony rides & even birthday party rental, and overnight stay with breakfast which is adorable. Theres a very welcoming entrance where you can buy little snacks, souvenirs, and food to feed the animals. There's also hand washing stations inside and outside which is amazing. The bathrooms are very clean as well! Little spots here and there where you can take really cute photos. My family loves this place and will continue to go to it at least once a year! Prices are very affordable as well. Been coming every year since 2017. Would post the 100 pictures but can only post 10! Recommend as best petting farm

We decided to stop by last weekend for some Sunday morning family time. From my 3 year old to grandparents everyone had a great time. We spent about an hour there. My husband checked us in and bought some animal food while the rest of us wandered around. Notable there are some animals (a chicken and a few dogs) that are free to wander the grounds, so be aware if anyone in your crew is easily startled! My son had the best time feeding the animals - the goats were very interactive and he couldn't get enough of feeding his new friends - we circled the farm 3x. He took a ride on a pony and we finished off the day with some time at the pirate ship. Overall great day - from our experience dress a bit warmer - we were a bit cold!

This was such a fun experience for our little guy and us. We met of with our friend and her kids and had a blast here! Beware when you feed the bigger horses. They will snag the bucket out of your hang when you aren't looking and eat everything! We fed them by hand and when I turned to look at something it leaned down and grabbed our bucket. We still had fed all the other animals and had less than half at that point. The staff were working on putting up Halloween decor. They had some 1 week old chicks in the shop (just remember kids to be gentle). I bought a local made bottle cap art of the EGGS barn, a car sticker and a T-shirt for my son. Great time as a family day.

This place is a nice near by location to bring the kids if you want to stay close to home it pretty much a mini barnyard zoo and they have pony rides and you can go home with a dozen farm fresh eggs. I would have given them 3 stars but we happened to be here on a rainy day and therefore didn't get to enjoy much of the farm and the kids didn't get to feed the animals......but We did have a decent time with the rain and all..... can't wait to make a return visit on a much nicer day.....plus it was funny to her hear Laurel say 'Emu!' And she also thought it was funny seeing the guinea hens wandering around outside especially the view of them from the bathroom window....kids what can I say.

I brought my daughter to Flamig a few weeks ago. As we are both animal lovers, we thoroughly loved our visit. The free roaming chickens initially sketched my girl out, but when she saw that you can buy feed and offer it to them, she was game. Personally I like the Key West feel of chickens walking around free. The horses were our favorite (the pigs were cute but very stinky - nothing like seeing the piglets tugging on the sow, but not at the cost of the funk from the muddy pen), with the donkey a close second. Very kid- and family-friendly. Looking forward to returning in future years.

"The monkeys stand for honesty. Giraffes are insincere. And the elephants are kindly but they're dumb" (At the Zoo - Simon & Garfunkel) We volunteered today to spend a few hours cleaning local walking trails for the Farmington Valley Trails Council. (By the way, if there was a nickel deposit on cigarette butts, I would have made enough money to buy you all dinner). Besides the sunshine, fresh air and exercise, a nice benefit was a visit to Flamig Farms, who generously hosted a barbecue lunch for the volunteers. Flamig Farms was crowded today with a lot of families with kids. What a fabulous place to bring kids! The property is a treasure chest of delight and wonder for the little ones. You'll find a petting zoo, pony rides and dozens of cool animals that you can get pretty close to. What kinds of animals? Well, we saw lots of horses-ranging from small ones and ponies to giant draft horses. We saw donkeys and cows. We saw peacocks and chickens and pheasants and ducks. We saw alpacas and emus and goats and sheep. We saw little bitty piglets and a freaking huge 800 pound porker. You can buy a cup of feed for a buck, and since most of the animals are separated from you by a wood or wire fence, so you can get right up to them for feeding. What a sweet place !

We are so lucky to live nearby such a special place to take our girls. We absolutely love visiting the animals! You can tell that the owners pour their hearts and souls into taking care of this place. Such a great learning environment and a fantastic option for a "social distancing" friendly outing!

They had two types of pre-cut trees to choose from; there were a few to choose from but we found the perfect tree! They had a vendor onsite making spiked hot chocolate, espresso martini, and various others. The interior of the barn was cozy with plenty of seating. There were plenty of items you can purchase in there, such as soap, honey, ornaments, etc. We got to pet the animals on the farm right outside, my children loved it. They also hosts events such as candle and ornament making, to name a couple. Overall, a lovely place to visit for events, purchase a Christmas tree, and even pet some farm animals!

We did not stop everywhere and we did not stop at the Petting zoo or museum/ gift shop and we were there 1.5 hours. I also saw that one of the other pages only had three stars, and I know that cannot be possible, because Action Wildlife Foundation in Goshen is simply amazing! If you're an animal lover you definitely need to check this place out! Here's how it works... After entering the driveway, you drive up to the gate and will pay the entrance fee. It's $18 for adults and $16 for kids. Additionally, you can buy a good-sized container of animal food for $8 per container. You'll also get a map of the place to help find your way around. Once you're in the park, there will be a large building right in front of you which is where the "Museum of Natural History" is. The entire inside is set up like a giant diorama, with real taxidermy animals of all kinds placed in real-life poses. It's so cool to see! This building also contains the gift shop in back and restrooms. After the museum, you can either walk or drive around the grounds (using the gravel road) to see and visit with all of the different animals that they have in the various pens. You'll get to see kangaroos, goats, horses, cows, capybaras, camels, zebras, emus, and much much more! Most of the animals you can feed, though there are a few (like the kangaroos and some of the horses) that you cannot. I would recommend driving around the grounds and then stopping and getting out once you get to the animals that you want to see. There is grass on either side of the gravel road where you can easily pull over and not be blocking anyone. On weekends, they also have a tractor ride "safari" in a different area of the park, where you get to ride through a very large fenced in area where there are several specifies of animals roaming altogether, so you can see the animals in a more natural setting. Lastly, they have a petting zoo in one of the barns with food that you can buy using quarters. The petting zoo has mostly goats, and then a few other animals like alpacas and cows. Oh, and you can also book personal "encounters" with some of the animals like the goats and capybaras, where you reserve a time slot for some one-on-one time with these animals. Though you need to do this in advance online, and it's an additional cost. The best part about Action Wildlife Foundation? They are dedicated to animal conservation, and most of the animals there have either been rescued or donated. This is one of the coolest placed in CT I've ever been to, and I would highly recommend it!

"You Hit the Wrong Note Billy Goat" (Bill Haley and the…read moreComets) Bradley Mountain Farm was more fun than a Barrel full of ............Goats! We signed up for a 1:00 "Barnard Buddies" session. For ten bucks, we reserved our own bench at the fence that pens in their goats, were given a bag of goat food (compressed hay pellets), and enjoyed a half hour of Goat Wackiness. The fun began when the other 1:00 groups were escorted to our benches by our Guide. We immediately saw the goat herd march to the fence and follow us as to our benches. Obviously, they been through this a zillion times and knew there was chow on the way. I asked out guide if the goats can eat all day and was told yes--of course because goats have 4 stomachs. Another odd feature of the goat's anatomy is their eyes -they have bizarrely rectangular pupils. Apparently, their vulnerability to predators caused their eyes to evolve. They have a broad line of sight, and those rectangular-shaped pupils lets them better see danger approaching. We were instructed to hold the food pellets in our outstretched hand and let the goats "kiss" it out of our hands. It was so interesting to see hoe different goats had personalities -some were super mellow, while others were super aggressive and literally shoved their goat brothers and sisters out of the way to be fed. We did see a few males really go at each other with violent head butts, but our guide said that was normal. Go and take your kiddies and maybe you can take the goats for a walk on a leash or buy some "cuddle time" or Goat Yoga or Dress the Baby Goats in pajamas. I kid you not. They have a lot of activity options.
