    Stupid Cupid
    Sheila R.

Playa Bowls has a huge selection and the possibilities for creating different bowls seem endless. I was excited to return and appreciated the offer for Yelp Elites to get a free bowl. I ordered the Stupid Cupid bowl, which I would recommend to anyone who enjoys chocolate covered strawberries. It has a fruit base and is topped with a plentiful amount of strawberries, coconut, granola and Nutella. The bowl was visually appealing, filling and a perfect lunch!! No need to add any other toppings, but I appreciate that there's an option to customize. The staff is always friendly every time I go to Playa Bowls. The bowls are great for any time of day. Highly recommend!!

The Playa Bowls started in 2014 in New Jersey by Robert Giuliani and Abby Taylor; they purchased a blender, refrigerator, freezer, and patio table and started creating acai bowls for the public. Now, there are 200 stores nationwide creating fresh superfruit bowls, smoothies, juices, and cold brew coffee, with quality ingredients. There are 7 bases for the playa (beach) Bowls; from coconut, pitaya (dragon fruit), acai, coconut, green, mango, banana, oatmeal, stupid cupid, and booster base. On these bowls, there are a variety of toppings. I decided to get a 16 oz. Pink Pitaya smoothie which had Pitaya (dragonfruit) and coconut milk for $8.99. This was simple and tasty. Next time, I look forward to trying out the bowls. This location is located in the Avon Marketplace. The interior was cute and tropical; there was a lounge area with a fireplace. There were plenty of seating and the customer service was good. It was a good treat and it definitely brought me back to the tropical islands, I look forward to going back.

"I could change my life to better suit your mood Because you're so smooth" (Carlos Santana) A very cool beautiful, tropical themed place where the old Yankee Candle used to be. They sell a big variety of healthy drinks and snacks in the form of bowls and smoothies. The bowls can be Acai, Mango, Pitaya, Coconut, Green, Banana, Chia, or Oatmeal based. The Smoothies are mostly plant based in the Banana, Coconut, Peanut Butter, Strawberry, Pineapple, Matcha, Orange, Blueberry, and Acai families. You can make your bowl or Smoothie to order or go with one of their signature combinations. We enjoyed a 16 -ounce Kowabunga Smoothie, one of their signature choices. It was made with Banana, strawberry, blueberry, and coconut milk all whipped up into a thick frothy drink that was refreshing and not sweet at all. It cost $8.99 and contained just 230 calories. They're a great addition to the plaza.

Got to check out Playa bowls at Avon. These bowls were a treat! Healthy and filling. Everything is fresh too! They don't serve just bowls but smoothies too! You can get it as healthy as you want and add toppings you want, modify ones from the menu too. Avon location is big with multiple tables to sit and enjoy. Service was also wonderful so couldn't have asked for better! Check out their winter specials!

Great location, clean and bright place. Staff were exceptionally nice and helpful. My bowl was DELICIOUS. Large portion, and everything tasted fresh. I'll definitely return.

Went to the opening of the Avon Playa Bowl and it's a very nice location. Very warm customer service and like the decor they have there over the Glastonbury and West Htfd one. I enjoy the coconut milk base and my daughter enjoys the banana base. The coconut milk base is very light and I enjoy the coco craze. You won't be disappointed with any of them as they are so filling and refreshing. I usually split one w 2 bowls to share w my daughter as it's too big to eat by yourself

Playa Bowls has recently opened a new location in Avon. I was in the mood for an açaí bowl, so I popped over. Their menu is huge, they have a variety of different bases you can choose from. I went with the Chia Pudding. I got the Chia Tella, this is a Chia Pudding base, topped with granola, Nutella, banana, strawberries and coconut flakes. The space inside is very beachy and inviting. They have a lot of available seating at the bar tops by the window or inside by the colorful walls. There are also a few spots outside. They have their signature blue lounge seats outside. My order was ready pretty quickly. It was delicious! The strawberries and banana were fresh, the granola was crunchy, and there were plenty of coconut flakes for some added crunchy sweetness. The chia pudding was sweetened with agave. I like how the bowls aren't huge, and this isn't a heavy portion, so I could finish it on my own. I also signed up for their awards program, so I can receive coupons towards future bowls. Playa Bowls is a great addition to the area.

Hands down my favorite place to go after a run! The fruit is always so fresh and they put the toppings on so neatly. The service is usually good- one of the workers re-made my bowl once when they accidentally put honey on it and gave my friend a new bowl for free when she spilled it! The place is always clean, but the music is a little loud and I usually can't hear my friend's voices so we take advantage of the outdoor seating.

Really happy they opened a location in Avon- great bowls, smoothies and customer service. We ordered the special mango bowl but I've also had the pitaya and açaí bowls as well a couple of the smoothies. All are really good (though somewhat sweet). Looking forward to trying other menu items in the future.

Healthy and delicious These bowls are off the charts! All the ingredients are so fresh and flavorful. The Açaí bowls are my favorite. I especially love the Stupid Cupid So so good. Check these guys out!

I walked inside, there was no one else inside, but the employee and myself. This place specializes in smoothies, since they have a pretty large menu of a variety of different smoothies to choose from. There were about four açaí bowls on the menu. I decided to go with the Health Nut bowl. The space inside isn't huge, but there's a few places for sitting, bar stools or at the tables. They also have an artificial fireplace burning. My açaí bowl was ready pretty quickly. I had it in my car. The base was made of a refreshing and cool blend of açaí, strawberry, blueberry and banana. It had a nice berry color to it. It was topped with granola, almonds, peanut butter and goji berries. This was so delicious, and a very generous size. I couldn't finish it in one go. I didn't pick the best time to have this on a particularly cold day, holding the cold bowl wasn't very pleasant on my already cold hands. I was just wishing and imagining it was 80 degrees, and I'm cooling off with my tasty açaí bowl. While this was a great and healthy pick, I wish they offered a few more varieties of açaí bowls.

Their twenty juice based Bowls are similar, and you eat them with a spoon instead of a straw. My wife ordered the PB Crunch Smoothie with Banana, Peanut Butter, Granola, Milk and Froyo. I had a sip and loved its distinctive peanut flavor. I went with a Dragon Bowl of Dragon fruit, Banana, Strawberry, Blueberry, Coconut Milk, Apple Juice, chocolate sauce, and three toppers - Granola, Honey and Almonds. I liked it a lot, it had great flavor and plenty of crunch from the granola and almonds. We chatted with the two young ladies who were preparing our order and learned the store had only been open for a few weeks. Apparently, they are busiest lunch time when the locals come in for a quick to go order. My Bowl was pretty filling, so I definitely saw how it is becoming popular as a lunch option.

The visits started out pretty good as we were a group of 12 coming into their establishment to start their day and we were their first clients. To walk in we expressed that we understood that only one person was working and that the timing may be a little bit slower due to the fact that she was the only one there. We put our orders in and slowly started seeing other clients of theirs come in the door and place orders. We could tell that some may have been online but let's remember that we walked in as they were opening. We waited an hour and 35 minutes to get paninis and smoothies and started noticing the people that had come in behind us and online orders were getting their food before us. We went to the front counter to ask, "Why are people getting their orders before us?" and we expressed that it was because they placed their orders online and that online orders had their own process. We were unable to accept this as we were their first clients of the day. We waited an hour and a half and people behind us and all non-orders were receiving their food before us. This was not just about the customer service and speed at which we received our order. We ordered a banana and peanut butter panini and two apple and cheese paninis, of which the bread was dry. There were barely any ingredients on the sandwich and it just did not taste good at all. This may be my first time saying I do not recommend a restaurant but this time I must say it. I can say the establishment was clean. It's an open kitchen where you can see the restaurant. They had games for kids to play and the ingredients seem to be fresh. I just spoke with the owner and got a better understanding of what happened. While I won't adjust what was said I will say the due to the fresh ingredients, situational challenges and promptness of reply of the owner, I will adjust my review as to not hurt this local small business. Since I knew I would be waiting, I politely asked if I could use the restroom. I was told no. I initially assumed there had been a misunderstanding, so I explained that I wasn't a random passerby looking for a public restroom. I was there to pick up an active DoorDash order and would be waiting while they finished preparing it. Unlike employees who have a workplace with designated break areas and restroom access, delivery drivers spend their entire workday on the road. We don't have a home base to return to between orders. Because of that, we often rely on the basic courtesy of restaurants and businesses we partner with while conducting pickups and deliveries. Most businesses understand this and treat drivers respectfully. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. What happened next was what bothered me most. Rather than simply explaining their policy and treating me with basic courtesy, the employees largely stopped engaging with me altogether. They avoided eye contact, ignored my attempts to communicate, and acted as though I wasn't standing there. It was an incredibly dehumanizing experience. After waiting several more minutes, I said, "I could have been done by now." The only response I received was, "It's not for the public." I again explained that I was there for an active pickup and was waiting on an order that still wasn't ready. Once again, I was met with silence. To be clear, I completely understand that businesses located on busy commercial streets cannot allow every random person who walks in off the street to use their restroom. That's not what this situation was. I was there performing a service directly connected to their business. DoorDash drivers are part of the fulfillment process that allows restaurants to participate in DoorDash, reach additional customers, and generate revenue from delivery orders. I wasn't asking for special treatment--just the basic courtesy of using the restroom while waiting on an order that they were still preparing. What makes this even more frustrating is that if the order had been ready when I arrived, I would have already been gone. The only reason I was standing there waiting was because of the restaurant's delay. At that point, I decided to unassign myself from the order, even though it was a high-paying delivery. If a business is unwilling to show basic respect to the drivers helping deliver its orders, then it can find someone else to complete those deliveries. I will also be reporting this experience to DoorDash so they are aware of how drivers are being treated at this location. To fellow Dashers: I strongly encourage you to decline orders from this establishment and spend your time supporting businesses that treat delivery drivers with professionalism and basic human dignity. To potential customers: please consider whether this is the kind of business you want to support. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect, including the people helping get your food to your door.
