We had our anniversary dinner here last night. It was fantastic as usual! Been coming here off and on for the last 12 years and have never been disappointed. They had roses waiting for us on our table and gave us complementary celebratory coconut lime sorbet. Great food and even better service! The interior is beautiful and cozy. The wait staff is friendly. So why only 2 stars? The food was bland and uninteresting. The halibut was over cooked to the point of dry and hard, and no sauce. The risotto was flavorless. The clam linguine was tasteless. The wine was good, ill give them that. There were babies in high chairs screaming. i've always been hesitant to come here due to the outrageous prices. but i decided to come anyway and give it a try. i had their smoked salmon ravioli - though it was delicious and the sauce was super tasty, didn't enjoy the pasta too much. it was overcooked and caused it to hardened around the edges and i love my pasta just cooked right! i had to cut around the edges because it was hard as hell smh. i felt like i should of gotten a discount for that LOL. i definitely would come back here just to try out the other food on the menu. read more

I went to Tulio for my girlfriend's birthday dinner on 2/20. We had a reservation for 7:30pm and were seated immediately. The restaurant was a little noisy when we arrived but halfway through the dinner it quieted down. Our server (Efran?) was very helpful and knowledgable about the menu. My girlfriend couldn't decided between two entrees and our server said she could get both but with smaller portions. I had the sweet potato gnocchi, smoked salmon ravioli, and the roasted chicken. My girlfriend had the tagliatelle and another pasta dish. All in all, great service and great food as well. The Cardamum Sour was also recommended by the server and it was a great choice. Pork shank was delicious and the portions were relatively large for a restaurant of this quality. The wait staff was super accommodating, serving us our full meal in the hotel lobby lounge, essentially giving us a private dining room. They even gave us some extras for free when they found out it was our anniversary. read more

Was our second choice for a downtown Seattle Italian restaurant (our intended location was closed on Sundays). Food was good and atmosphere lovely. The wine was a bit pricey and our waiter kept pushing the expensive bottles. Good thing we know our wines and didn't fall prey! Recommend if you want a modern vibe. They apparently have a good happy hour menu in the bar (which looked nice) with the same dinner menu items. Recommend. read more

I wish I could give a negative star review. Extremely unhappy with the service here. I came here with my mom and our waiter was very disrespectful. I felt his distaste the moment we entered. To be honest I think it would be because my mom and I spoke Korean because I don't see any other reason why he would dislike us at first sight? I immediately wanted to request a different waiter and regret not doing it. After ordering the ribeye and Orecchiette (is this a word everyone knows how to pronounce cuz I couldn't and he seemed offended), we wanted wine so we asked for the drinks menu. He just slid it on our table and left and didn't come back for 15 minutes. He then swooped past us and took the menu without a word and gave it to another table. We kinda just sat there speechless because we've been ready to order for so long. We asked a different waiter for the wine menu and he called our waiter over. We asked for the wine menu again and I told him I was ready to order. I asked if he had any recommendations for red wine that's sweet and he sassed "Red wine can't be sweet. There's no sweet red wine. We don't put sugar in red wine." I just stared at him like wtf. Then he was like you mean fruity? Anyways just ordered the red wines I wanted and tried to keep my calm since I was with my mom. We weren't assisted anymore after that and he asked us if we were done when we were halfway through our food and there were other customers who came in way before us working through their food. read more

the sweet potato gnocchi was ok. i'm not a fan of gnocchi, so i did like this better than previous gnocchi. my date is not a fan of sweet potato, so make sure you like sweet potato before you get it. i had a lobster ravioli. it was too fishy. is lobster even supposed to be fishy? eek. my date had the veal chop with stuffed mozzarella. GREAT. it came with creamy spinach leeks. AWESOME. and a baked slice of prosciutto. PHENOMENAL. we had the cannoli for dessert. that ain't nothing to write home about. oh, but the service was great. but i probably wouldn't go back for the food. read more

Tulio has a great atmosphere and a small intimate dining dining room on two levels. If I could give half stars this would be a 2.5 star rating. service 2 stars and food 3. We had a Bourbon Sour and Manhattan as cocktails and the sour had no froth on top. We ate the Caesar Salad, no flavor, the sage Gnocchi, very tasty, followed by the Blue cheese and pear risotto, nothing to write home about and the duck, ok but that was it. For desert my wife had the chocolate chip Canoli. We ask the server about the chocolate chips and where they were part of. He mentioned the shell. after confirming that 3 times they were in the filling. Hey we're super tasty but who don't you know your menu. As for service, as we arrived we had 2 servers ask us the same questions and try to tell us the specials; remember it is. Small dining room. Secondly, the Canoli issue. Lastly we asked about the breakfast menu and the answer was "I do t work mornings so I don't know the menu" . If I work somewhere I need to be familiar with the services or at least offer to find out. This place is a safe bet on what you get but not a place to wow someone away. read more

My mom was visiting from San Diego for Christmas so I looked online to find a good recommened restaurant in Seattle for her first night here and after reading all the reviews I decided on Tulio's. First I'll start by saying the service at Tulio's was excellent. Now onto the food.... My mom had the pork shank, the portion size was good and huge, I look a bite, it was tender but lacking seasoning, mostly salt and pepper (kind of basics of cooking). I had the smoked salmon ravioli and the salmon was dry and the pasta was tough. I was not that impressed. Kind of a disappointment specially after all the good reviews and the really nice sweet potato gnocchi appetizer and bottle of wine. I was really hoping I had found a great go-to Italian restaurant. :( I guess I'll keep looking. read more

Had high expectations ahead of the night but was somewhat disappointed by the quality of food for the price. We were celebrating a birthday and I had the steak which was undercooked (I asked for medium and got a blue rare steak) and under seasoned. The wait staff was good and took my steak back and properly cooked it up however. My date had the chicken risotto dish which was also underwhelming and under seasoned unfortunately. For the price point and promise of quality of food I'd suggest other Italian restaurants in the area. read more

I would've given it a 5 star just for the food, but because of the service, I would give it a 6. The food alone makes this restaurant one of my favorite Italian restaurants in Seattle. Based on Yelpers' suggestions, we ordered mussels and greens as appetizers and I got the gnocchi as an entree (even though it's supposed to be an app) and my hubby got the famous pork shank. Everything was delicious. The gnocchi is slightly crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside, soooo good. The pork shank was a huge size, served on mashed potatoes and spinach, I think. The pork was so tender it didn't even taste like pork. It's moist like a duck leg almost. Does that even make sense? I love duck leg, so it's perfect for me. Dessert we got the tiramisu per the wait staff's suggestion and it's also perfect. Sometimes these things got too much alcohol in it and ruined it for me, but this one was great, it was just right. Okay - now onto the service part. Well, the service throughout dinner was fine as is. But in order to experience their advanced service level, I left my phone behind... until 2 hours later I finally realized that my phone wasn't with me anymore. I reached my hubby's phone to see if I could call my phone to hunt it down (in hope that it was still in the house somewhere), I saw that Tulio has texted and called my husband from my phone to alert him/me that they had my phone. (ok..I confess that I didn't lock my phone). I called back then even though they were technically closed - they answered the phone and promised to leave it at the hotel front desk so I could go pick it up after the hours per my request. (phone separation anxiety has kicked in by then). In the end, I picked up my phone (packed in a nice enveloped and sealed) with my ID at the hotel and went home happily. Still a perfect night - crisis averted. So thank you, Tulio. You have me as a life time diner and supporter. read more

Not sure why this place was rated so high. Just ate there, and the food was not memorable at all. The romaine salad was over dressed, and lacking in flavour. The gnocchi was so rich and drenched in brown butter sauce, that it was hard to eat. The spaghetti was decent, fresh and nice to eat. The rib eye steak was really boring, don't get it, it's a waste of money if you like to eat a great steak, and this surely wasn't a great steak . Now the risotto. The menu makes it seem appealing, but it is most definitely not. Boring, devoid of flavour, and over priced. Waste of money! We couldn't eat more than a few spoonfuls. It was really that bad The ambience was nice, the service was good, the food was overpriced and really not that good. There are so many restaurants in downtown Seattle that are delicious and reasonably priced, that I believe Tulios can be avoided. read more

Tulio feels like Old Seattle. I have been there a few times now & always walk away feeling like I definitely got my money's worth. Service is reliable & friendly, atmosphere is warm. Food is tasty & generously-portioned. For the first time recently we sat at the bar first & the bartender actually answered some questions we had about local beers & told us about an infused rum he was making. It was refreshing to have a bartender chat, seem knowledgeable & not too "hip" or busy to answer questions. While the meals are not inexpensive, it is not the kind of place you can only go for a super special occasion. You can decide how much to order, wine or not, and also dress up or down depending on your mood. Overall, I would rank it as one of my favorit Seattle stand-by restaurants. read more

Rarely has all the hype proven to be so true. A number of people recommended this place. It was a foregone conclusion that we would eat there because we were staying at the wonderful Kimpton Hotel that houses Tulio. The staff were amazing, including a truly wonderful waiter that had real insight into his answers to our questions. Not a huge menu, but what they do have is PHENOMENAL! Stopped for breakfast. We waited an inordinate amount of time just to be greeted. We should've walked out, but we chalked it up to the possibility that maybe the host or hostess resigned. Long story short, we had to ask for service throughout the meal only after staring at my empty coffee cup long enough to lose my patience. Then the food came and the homemade cinnamon roll was stale. The rest of my parties food was just underwhelming. The only positive was the coffee. Go elsewhere though if it's a good breakfast you are looking for. Cheers! read more

Oh. My. Goodness. After getting into a ridiculous argument w/BF at the Space Needle of all places over some miscommunication re: who actually thought a trip to the Space Needle would be (cough) fun... and who had no intention whatsoever of actually spending money to pile in an elevator with a handful of tourists just to say you toured the ... yeah, you get the picture. We decided to forgo our reservations elsewhere, and dine in at our hotel for some much needed down time at the Vintage Park's 4 star eatery, Tulio. We couldn't get through to room service so we called Tulio directly and placed our order. The guy over the phone made great suggestions and even affirmed our selections: "Excellent choice, that's one of my favorites". I love that! We picked up our dinner and were pleased to find they had thoughtfully included a generous portion of their AMAZING!!! fococcia bread & olive oil. This stuff is so completely addicting, it was almost gone before we were back in our room. I started by kicking it root down (sorry, couldn't resist) with the three beet salad followed by the pasta for my main entree (pappardelle, sweet pepper ragu, basil, fresh goat cheese). I don't know what it is about beets but I can't get enough of them lately & theirs were no exception- freaking awesome. The pasta was equally scrumptious with the goat cheese warm & melting in my mouth... just thinking about it... yum. BF had the dungeness crab tortelli w/leeks, butter and fresh herbs which he was recommended and which did not let him down. We also shared the warm chocolate pudding cake w/toasted meringue, and raspberry caramel sauce which was seriously one of the best desserts I've ever had. This is one cake that needs no ice cream (which I don't say very often!). It was warm, gooey, spongy, chocolaty bliss and I want more! I came here for dinner with my fiance for Valentine's Day, and I picked this place because we wanted to try a new place and we love Italian food. We ordered the sweet potato gnocchi for our appetizer, and he ordered the swordfish (I think? He ordered some kind of white fish) and I had the Kurobuta pork shank. The gnocchi were pretty disappointing, to be honest. I didn't like the texture at all. It tasted like it was fried, which I didn't like. I like my gnocchi to be soft and smothered in cream. I'm pretty open-minded when it comes to food, but the gnocchi just wasn't that good. It lacked flavor too. It really just tasted like fried dough. I really enjoyed my pork shank, though. It was really tender and fell off the bone. It was very tasty. And I really enjoyed the veggies that came with it. Yum. My fiance even kept stealing food off my plate. His fish tasted good, but it was a bit underwhelming. We typically don't order fish at restaurants but I thought it was decent. I wish we had tried their pastas. Next time. Overall, I think this place is worth a try, but I wasn't blown away. read more

My husband and I were more than happy with our visit at Tulio last Sunday night. We were greeted with a smile and promptly sat despite that fact that we did not have reservations. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. Upon her recommendation we had the scallop appetizer (delicious!!), I had the lovely three beet salad (which I will be going back for), for dinner I had the dry aged rib eye cooked to perfection, and for dessert we shared the warm chocolate cake! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a warm, rustic, casual yet high quality experience. The staff was gracious, friendly, and helpful. Not only did our server make us feel special so did the host, bartender, and manager who stopped by to confirm our satisfaction. Keep up the good work Tulio! read more

I had my wedding reception here back in December, 2004. The space upstairs is great for a small, cozy party. I went for a wedding reception in the summer as well- and I must say that the place has a warmer and more inviting atmosphere when it's cold outside. Wish I could give 4.5, because I loved this restaurant...with one caveat...the groom got sick! I recently chose this restaurant as the site of the post-wedding/pre-honeymoon dinner for my sister's wedding. Tulio accommodated our party of 19, and was prompt with both the table reservation and the service. The food was excellent (try the pork shank if you're really hungry, the tortelli if you have a small appetite) and exquisitely prepared and presented. On the same night, however, the groom got sick. We believe it was food poisoning, but he was the only one out of the 19 that we know of that got ill, so it might not be traced back to the food at Tulio...or maybe he asked for his meat a little too raw. In either case, we still had a great experience...the most intimate 19-person dining experience you could ever imagine! read more

I wanted to try the salmon ravioli but the restaurant only had crab ravioli. ok, so I ordered that. It was so oily and the ravioli came out limp and just unappealing. And all that oil! I don't care if it was saffron oil. Presentation was a mess. But the waiter and host were great - offered to make up for it. But by that time I had already eaten 2 of the 4? Ravioli pieces and splashed some oil drippings on my shirt. Won't be having that dish again... overpriced for what it was. read more

This is a restaurant that we will definitely visit again. The surroundings, service, and food were all excellent! And as it was a Friday evening the place was bustling and busy. That certainly didn't detract from the attention to the patrons and the quality of the food. For starters my husband and I shared a mixed green salad that was ample for both of us and dressed in a light vinaigrette. For the main course I chose lamb pappardelle which was a slow roasted lamb shoulder, shredded and seasoned, with a light gravy and served over wide noodles. It was delicious without being overly sauced so that the flavor of the braised lamb really was apparent. My husband chose orrechiette, the little ear shaped pasta with spicy sausage and tomato sauce. It was a generous serving and again not overly sauced but very flavorful and on the spicy side. We both sampled each dish and this one was large enough that we could've taken some home. We had a chance to meet Chef Walter Pisano and he was happy to discuss the dishes with us and how they were prepared. We declared the lamb to be the winner and it's something that I may try at home----or I may just have to make another visit to Tulio! read more

We enjoyed our meal here at Tulios that started with great service and a great wine selection. We chose the Sweet Potato Gnocchi to share for an app which was excellent. Not a very big portion. For the entrees we ordered the King Salmon special suggested by our waiter and the veal chop. He said the fish was better cooked medium rare.Both pieces of fish were underwhelming and small and over cooked. The veal chop saved the day and from me placing a 3 on this restaurant. Even though this place was extremely busy before New Year's Eve, the food was outstanding, the ambiance was festive (if loud), and the service was prompt. I think part of the reason we enjoyed it so much because we were seated upstairs, in a corner near the windows. (Downstairs the tables are somewhat close together.) i love how authentic the atmosphere is! would swear that i was eating somewhere in europe. the bar alone makes my heart sink. the food however is even better the butter nut squash maffati is my favorite and the artichoke appetizer is amazing. the wine selection is reasonably priced however i would not suggest coming here on a budget, your looking at around $100 a head. i would recommend this to any one who likes the atmosphere and food of le pichet. even tho tulio's is not french. read more
