I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at this float spa's Tempe location. I was previously a loyal member at their Scottsdale location from 2020-2021 and had wonderful experiences. After moving away and later returning, I reestablished my membership and began visiting the Tempe location. Until recently, my visits had been positive. A month ago, I was involved in a serious car accident and needed to pause my membership while recovering. I communicated this with management and was told my account would be paused. I was also told I could still float during that time. In fact, I came in the week prior to this incident and had a seamless, excellent experience. However, my most recent visit was completely different. When I arrived for my scheduled float, I was met with hostility and unprofessional behavior from the front desk staff member, Jeremy. From the beginning, his demeanor made me feel unwelcome, as though I did not belong there. He insisted I update my card before I could proceed, despite the fact that I have an active membership and a valid card on file. I explained I could update my card later, or he could use the existing card or a gift card on my account--but he refused all options except my gift card which he didn't want me to use unless I gave him a different card. I explained to him the card on file was fine. Ultimately, I was forced to proceed under stressful conditions, which completely disrupted what should have been a therapeutic experience. My float was filled with anxiety, and I ended it early--something that has never happened to me before. After my session, the poor service continued. I was given tea but then left unattended for over 30 minutes. I was not offered any of the post-float amenities included in my membership, such as oxygen or the salt cave. I eventually gathered my belongings and prepared to leave. As I exited, Jeremy called out to ask if I wanted to schedule another session, then told me I could not return until I updated my card. This was both confusing and inappropriate, especially since I had not been billed, nor had any payment attempt been made on my account. When I tried to calmly understand the issue, I was met with dismissiveness and escalating rudeness. He ultimately directed me to email the manager, then abruptly ended the interaction by slamming items and walking away. I left in tears. As a person of color, I cannot ignore how this interaction made me feel. I have never felt this way at this business before, but this experience raised serious concerns about how I was treated and why. I contacted the manager, Amanda, and was initially blamed for the situation. Only after further clarification did she apologize, stating she had not been given the full story. While I appreciate the apology, the damage had already been done. I have since canceled my membership. Paying $200 per month should come with professionalism, respect, and care--especially in a wellness environment. No client should ever feel disrespected, dismissed, or unwelcome. Worst experience ever. Called me 30 minutes before my appointment they would not be able to accept my voucher. They said it was a simple mistake but we're unable to do anything about it. Drove 40 minutes to this location for absolutely nothing. The staff was rude and unwilling to help the situation. I will never go to this or any True REST Float Spa and will make sure no one I care about does either. This was supposed to be a gift and was nothing short of a nightmare. read more

Purchased a membership. Float was fine, but some of the staff and manager are inadequately trained when it comes to policy for canceling memberships. I called in 3 months ago to cancel my membership and was told it was canceled. The next month i was charged so i called and was told that it wasn't canceled and that i needed to email the manager in order to cancel it so i did the same day. The next month i was charged again. I called a 3rd time and they told me they didn't get the email.. so i emailed them again and called back to see if they got it. They said they got it and it was officially canceled and explícitly said I wouldn't be charged again. The next month i was charged again! I called and was told it was canceled but i needed to pay one more time after canceling. Clearly the staff and the manager are not in tune with the same policy if they are spreading misinformation. I have paid for 4 extra months due to this misinformation... the manager told me they could try to look at the past emails i sent but couldn't guareentee a refund regardless of being misinformed/lied to whether intentionally or unintentionally then abruptly hung up on me while i was talking.. I basically got scammed and am scared I'll be charged again. Since I can no longer trust the staff and manager, I had to let my card company know what they did for the last 4 months just in case they try to charge me. Having to email them to cancel is such a strange process compares to other places and almost seems like they do it on purpose so the can give excuses of not getting the email yet... please be careful if you decide to get a membership so you don't get scammed like i did!!! Beware!! Due to this, I honestly cannot recomend this place. Other places will treat you better! Unfortunately, it was so disappointing. I purchased a new customer voucher on Groupon. I didn't even realize I had been to this place maybe 5+ years ago obviously didn't remember the name to buy the new customer online. It says to be there 30 minutes early for a a new customer so I did their door says Monday 4 PM to 10 PM so I called and they said 10 AM but was still there 30 minutes early when it was unnecessary since they didn't open till 10. I couldn't use the Groupon since I have already been a customer remind you 5+ years ago they would not honor it. I understand if it was recently that would not be a new customer but 5+ years ago is a little outrageous along with that. The rust and smell is not worth going back. WORST float in over 7-8 years. The service and quality of this location has drastically gone down and keeps getting worse. The Scottsdale location was amazing and is very unfortunate they closed. Both the lady who checked me in (over sharing other clients and her own personal life) and one of the supervisor's, Amanda, weren't very helpful when I expressed my concerns about the filter, light, and service. This is the second time I've gone and have issues with the light. It took the first 10 minutes of the float (room 3) of messing with the light to get it to finally turn off. It's frustrating as you're workin on getting to a relaxed state and can't because the light won't turn off. And this happened last time I was here. The buttons is a white push button the the white knob part was broken off. Anyways, should be something they check before they send you in. Also, I've never had good customer service from the front desk people. They always seem out and annoyed and never explain things very well. While the float session was great, the experience was unique and certainly one to remember. My husband and I purchased discounted Salt Cave options via Groupon and quickly realized we wanted to Foat Experience. We call and spoke to someone earlier in the week who advised us that we can simply upgrade the Groupon to account for the float, simple. An extra $20 per person - nice!! When closing out of the Spa, we were hit with a big bill. Whatever challenges they have with Groupon and being able to charge the right rates, we ended up paying the Groupon price for the salt cave AND the float (some discount), but no where near what was expected. This took my experience from, awesome I would recommend, to stress and avoid. Unfortunate. The people are nice. The service was great. The price mixup...not so relaxing. read more

I booked an appointment for the Tempe location and was profiled from the beginning. It's start with me calling in and speaking to a gentleman about the experience. He informed me of the rules and that I would not be charged until the experience. I would just have to put a card on file. Nowhere in the rules or online did it say I can't consume cannabis. Which I would understand if post on the website where or told me when I booked. so once I reach the location. and was profile from the beginning. The manager looked as if she couldn't believe Black people were coming to her establishment.I was about 10 minutes late. The front desk manager scolded us about being late. After explaining traffic and understanding that I would have a shorter spa treatment, she starts to interrogate us about what we did before reaching the location. She tells us that because we were smoking we can't use the spa and that we will not receive a refund. I call back next day to see if there's someone else I can speak to. I never going to forget my first experience floating. My toes were in so much pain because I was standing for so many hours at work. I was also very stressed and my back neck area was sore. I tried to float since massage did not help. I was a bit nervous at first I don't like to be enclosed so I left the pot door a bit open. I started floating, listening music was soothing, I let my mind relax I almost felt sleep or didI? I am not sure. After I took a shower, I felt my skin soft. Right when I was getting ready to leave my toes weren't hurting anymore and the pain on my neck was gone. The salt and the amazing properties floating have did they work on me. I've never encountered a wellness/relaxation business with such stress inducing policies and poor customer service. The first float experience we had was okay. We were told there was only music available at the start of the float and as a reminder at the end(which turned out to be false). The actual float was relaxing and the room was nice. Afterwards I decided to purchase a three float package to continue seeing if there were legitimate benefits for relaxation and recovery. The package was supposed to be used within a year. The next session I went to was in a room which wasn't cleaned and had a bed which sounded like nails on a chalkboard when opening. At this session though I was offered music for the duration of the float. The last float experience was actually pleasant and I was looking forward to another. When I went to schedule the final float I wasn't able to without paying. When I called, the representative told me that the package expired after six months. Not a year like I was originally told. I regret having checked this place out. If it was better managed I think it would have a chance but it doesn't seem like a place that will keep people coming back. What an absolutely amazing experience. I found them on Groupon and have been wanting to try it for over a year now. This location is really close to my apartment, it's super clean and in plaza with a lot of other businesses. Our Floating Specialist was Ethan and he did a great job explaining everything and ensuring we had a great experience. My husband and I watched the video, and were fully prepared for our experience. The rooms have a private shower and area for you to get prepared. The pod is really clean and the water was the perfect temperature. It's a little warm for men, my husband had to leave his pod cracked so they air could flow in. Mine was completely closed and dark. It doesn't take long for you to completely relax and zone out. If you meditate, this will be perfect for you! Make sure you put your earbuds in before you start your float session. I had to get out of my pod a few minutes after I was completely comfortable, how annoying of me. Lol I'd also suggest showering very well after you get out. I half showered and it showed, I had salt all over my face and neck. I wore a swim cap however, my hair got just as wet as it would have had I put it own. My fault! Lol After our float session was over we hung out in the oxygen area and were hooked up to the machine and offered tea. It's been 5 hours since we left and we're completely relaxed. The float was relaxing. However, the pod was slimy and my skin has not felt right since. Any place where my skin accidentally bumped the sides of the pod (like my back and my forearms) have been not stop itchy for 4 days after. I have showered everyday, used lotions and oils, soaked in my tub and still the weird itching. It feels like a fungal infection, and I'm afraid I will have to go to the doctor. Salt inhibits the growth of fungus but does not kill it on sight. So it's not unlikely that getting in a tub of used salt water where lots of other people have been soaking naked would expose you to germs like fungus. I should have known better. Also I have read that others were given flip flops to use in showers, but I never received any and I wish I had. Standing in a public shower that isn't washed in between uses is not my idea of a luxury spa experience. read more

Ok so, I hate to be the voice of dissent but... this was not the experience for me. While the black hair guy at front was very nice and the newbie video was funny, laying in an egg of salt water for an hour is apparently not my cup of tea. I didn't even make it through the hour before I had to get out. The first 30 min were cool... I drifted off into a tranquil state but then I heard a 'thump' from somewhere that woke me up and I couldn't get back to tranquility. There were other glitches, too. My joints literally creaked... snap, crackle, pop, for days afterwards. And, they had ear plugs that I didn't use (they were optional according to the initial tour), and now, my ears have been 'squeaky' for 6 days. Every time I yawn, burp or do any kind of weird jaw movement, I can feel it in my ears. :-/ Weird. When I went in the next day to ask about the feeling in my ears, a light haired guy behind the counter said he didn't know what to do for it because he floats with no buds all the time and everybody must just be different. Oh, ok. Thanks. So... while it may work for some, it may not be for everyone. Other thoughts... wow, it's kinda pricey. If you're not a member, it's $70 a float. My friend gifted the experience to me but if I'd have paid $70, I'd have been pretty disappointed. One thing I noted about the other 10 good reviews and 5 filtered... they're ALL 5-star and ALL from people who don't Yelp much. Most have under 20 reviews and all have under 30. That's not trustworthy to me. They're also pretty evenly spaced... March, Feburary, January, Dec, etc. That's odd and raises an eyebrow to their validity. If they are promotional Yelps, someone was smart about it and put some work into it... likely because Yelp caught on to their first 5 attempts. Hope my ears even out soon. Different floats for different folks... I first came here when they were in their north Scottsdale location, but now that they're in Tempe it more convenient and way closer. I have to say my very first float was odd for me because it's such a new experience that you may get a little restless because you're trying to figure out how you're suppose to feel and if you're doing it correctly. I was doing it in hope it would relax me and help me with some muscle soreness as I was training on my 1st half marathon (which I beat my goal time BTW). Well right now I'm gearing up for the PF Chang full marathon and I just had a recent midday float and it was one of the best so far. I came in already really sore, but I had also had a hard workout session earlier in the morning, so needless to say I was pretty tired. I got prepped up and got into the pod and I like total darkness, so the lights were out. I just let my mind go and knocked out. I fell asleep and had a really nice power nap and woke up feeling great. I did notice some soreness dissipate in my legs from a long run I had a few days ago, but overall I woke up with a sense of being "refreshed". I seriously felt rejuvenated from a physical and mental standpoint. Some people may complain about their 1st floats because they, like me, didn't know all that they were getting into, but just do a little research and ask the wonderful staff questions. My boyfriend surprised me with a float for my birthday and we had such a relaxing time! I had never heard of this therapy but truly enjoyed it along with the flavored oxygen bar which was a nice touch. Their facilities were very well maintained, very nice, and me me feel I was in a fancy spa. They gave us each a gift as we left, so cool, only wish the earplugs were in there! I received a gift card as a Christmas gift from my husband in an effort to alleviate my pain due to health conditions. I was so excited to try this "therapy" at the Tempe location until I walked into the room. There was mold on the ceiling (see photo)! Nonetheless, I gave this a try. The welcome video described the water to be 93°- skin temperature, a washcloth within the pod (in case of accidental salt water in your eye) & a personal shower. I used the neck support & accidentally got water in my eye (ouch!), yet the washcloth wasn't readily available?! I exited to find a washcloth which resulted in slipping & falling. I STILL wanted to give this a try. The water within the pod was lukewarm upon entering, yet became cold quickly. I also found it difficult to breathe (felt pressure on my chest). The "music options" occurred only in the beginning (used intercom to request the continuation of the only music available since the silence was creepy). As I shivered, I used the intercom to find out how much time was remaining due to being cold & my ears hurting - I told the gal that I was ending my session. While WAITING an inordinate amount of time for the shower to warm up, the warm water ran out quickly (my home shower is better). After getting dressed, I just wanted to go home. I made the receptionist aware of being cold, ears sore & wanting to go home ASAP yet she proceeded to tell me about membership packages?! My response was that I wasn't interested in listening as I desperately needed a warm shower!! So disappointed. read more

Terrible customer experience from the owner. My aunt is a current member who pays for the $200 membership. Anyhow, my aunt and I had stopped in on a Saturday, so that she could show me around the facility, share her experience and instruct me on what worked for her and provide guidance on what she wanted me to do when I went in for an appointment. After the walk through she added me to her account and we scheduled my appointment with Jake for Thursday of the following week. Upon my arrival I was instructed by a female (who was training someone) to fill out some paperwork for being a new patient, etc. I was then escorted into a salt room to watch a video, where she had logged out of the service provider on the TV. (Not my business but she didn't seem to know what she was doing, let alone how she was training someone) She then had to grab the iPad as she was unable to log back in. After watching the video I was shown the float spa and enjoyed that part of the experience. After exiting the float spa I was reunited with this lady, who started to walk me towards the oxygen bar. I told her that my aunt wanted me to experience the sound/vibration room. She took me in there for a 10-15 minute experience and then decided to take me back to the oxygen bar where I finished my appointment. I was given a bag for being a first time customer and presented packages for signing up, which I was not interested in as I am a part of my aunts membership. The lady then proceeded to tell me that if I signed up for one of the memberships the sound experience would be free. She then tried to tell me that the $200 membership did not include the sound/vibration room. It was at this point things took a turn for the worse. I told the lady I wasn't going to pay. I told her if she needed to she could talk to my aunt and bill her account as this was supposed to be a complimentary float with all the amenities mentioned previously. I called a week later to speak to someone and ask them if the sound experience was included in the $200 package and behold Jake said that it was. Weird how that works. I then proceeded to ask what the name of the person who worked that night was and they tell me it was the owner of the business. Wow! My thoughts exactly. After telling Jake about my experience they then decided to back track on things as if to save face for their boss. Understandable, I don't fault him. They then said that the sound room is only for the member, not anyone they add to the account. Which is fine if that happens to be the rules. However, regardless of your position or title in a company it should be a given to be TRANSPARENT with your consumer. That was definitely not the case here. If you are going to charge someone for something, you should make it known ahead of time. Do not try to be slick about it just to make a few extra dollars that will just hurt your business and reputation. I hope that this team is able to figure this out so that this doesn't happen to anyone else since this was supposed to be a relaxing and calming experience that turned into the opposite of that. read more

My experience at True Rest was interesting, as it was my first time attending this spa. I'm an esthetician and I take sanitization seriously, I did not feel Tempe True Rest was a sanitary facility. Upon arriving you are asked to fill out an extensive form of many risks you may encounter that they refuse to take responsibility for. One being that if you slip and fall it's not there fault. Mind you they have zero anti slip mats in the room or anything that would deter you from falling. Upon leaving I couldn't find a single dry area in the pod room to get dressed without falling, nor was I going to walk across the common area naked in a towel to use there restroom. You are confined in an all smooth tile room covered in water, so beware. After initialing everything, they give you a pair of USED unsanitary old navy flip flops which had grime on the foot area, which got washed away after walking in the shower with them on.. confirming they were not clean when given to me. They take you through a video and then lead you to your room, that already has wet floors I'm assuming from the last person. I was told the water goes through a filter but isn't changed after every person, disgusting! There was a male hair inside of the pod that was clearly not mine as I hadn't even got inside of it yet, let alone got undressed (photo below.) Clearly they do not sanitize or clean the inside of the pod after each use which again is disgusting and can lead to many bacteria's getting into the still standing water that they suggest you be naked in.... awful! I wore a bathing suit!!!! After being in the water I felt itchy and uncomfortable with all the thoughts of how unsanitary this was, I proceeded to get out and sit on the bench and wait out my time as it was a gift certificate and not something I paid for luckily! Plus I got a complimentary oxygen bar session afterwards that I was anticipating most of everything because I knew it would be a new nose piece for everyone. I found the only item they presented sealed and new were earbuds and face wipes. I was very disappointed. How expensive could throwaway foam sandals be? Salons can afford them, yet a place that charges $80 for a single float can only provide new earplugs to each person?!?! Now the worst part of it all, the icing on the cake!!!! I went to change back into my clothes, and like I said earlier finding a dry area in that room is hard, so I went to the corner area off to the side of the shower where it was least wet, but still wet. There is no hook on this side so I decided to rest my towel on top of the pod while I attempted not to break my hip trying to change. I set it down and looked over in absolute disgust. The top of the pod was covered in dirt, dead bugs, and all kinds of debris from the dirty air filter above it. Which means the air isn't even properly filtered in the rooms. (Photos below!) Zero stars in my book, and this could very well just be the lack of poor management at this one specific facility, and I don't want to knock them all but the Tempe location is a disgusting mess when you know what to look for and what's sanitary and what's not! This is my professional opinion! UPDATE! Looks like no one from the company cared to reach out or respond to the 3 different emails I sent. TRUE REST IS A JOKE FOR A COMPANY! read more

Went to TrueRest on Saturday and used a Groupon I had purchased. After a 5 minute cheesy but kinda funny intro video, the 2 other newbs and myself were shown to a pod room and given a rundown on what to do. We were then escorted to our rooms. I will say that the float itself was kinda interesting. I imagine if I were floating in the Dead Sea in Israel, it would be similar to floating in the pod. After my float, I showered up and got dressed, I went to head back to the little oxygen bar area to chill for a little while, partake in a cup of tea and maybe try out the oxygen (for an additional fee). But the 4 seats they have in that little waiting area were taken. So I just headed back up to the front, checked out, and left. Now according to the website - "Salt can be corrosive to clothes, but is great for skin and hair." Well it was horrible for my hair (which is thick and curly). I had to stop by my salon because after my float, my hair was fried. All of the moisture was robbed from my hair and it was a hot mess. Even after my hair guy got my hair washed, conditioned and gave me a good dose of Moroccan oil, my hair still feels dry and dull. I'd hate to say it but, maybe there should be a disclaimer on the website, "if you have ethnic hair..the salt is going to trash your hair." With chronic knee (from my surgery in 2011) and shoulder pain, I had hoped this salt float would help alleviate my pain. My shoulder hurts worse than it did going in, my knee has been creaky, and I've had 2 migraines (I rarely have migraines. And I drink plenty of water, at least a gallon a day). So all in all, I've felt like sh*t since my float. Would I float again, probably not. read more

I think the idea is great. Floatation therapy: a way to soothe your body and mind by floating weightless in a warm salt water pod. I did a few float sessions back when True Rest was in North Scottsdale, and I wanted to try them out again after their relocation to Tempe. The interior is still calm and serene, and I think the waiting area is nicer since they seem to have more space than the old location. When I entered, I awkwardly stood around for 5 minutes or so while the front desk attendant was in the back. It was just a minor point to the overall experience, but if this is my first time at a new place, I like to have a staff member there in the front to greet me immediately when I enter. Just like other floats, for me at least, it took me about half the allotted time to actually get used to the idea of floating. Once I did get relaxed, it really eased any muscle pains and helped clear my mind. While I do enjoy flotation therapy as a way to soothe tense muscles, for me the price is cost prohibitive on a regular basis. The cost for 1 hour is roughly the same amount as a one hour massage at some places, even with a basic membership which makes the cost cheaper. For me at least, I would rather pay the same amount for someone to massage out any tense muscles. It's not to say that floatation therapy is not a valid way to relax, it really is, but for me, I feel more worth in the same amount of money spent on having a therapist focused on easing out sore muscle pains. read more

I only tried the salt cave through a Groupon. Not sure I noticed anything different other than tasting a little salty. The young guy checking me in has not learned the phrase "the customer is always right" and made my mood from annoyed to pissed. Then, the room you sit in to relax in has a whinny noise making hard to hear the relaxing background music.....I was told this is the machine grinding the salt. The reclining chairs were not as comfortable as would like either. They did give a nice thank you gift with some salt to take home. Overall, just ok experience. Maybe if they explained more about the long term health benefits that you might not notice right away? read more

My bf and I tried this place for the first time, got there pretty late at 8.30pm- when we walked in we greeted nicely and we both wanted to try the camomile tea that he offered. The host took us to watch the welcome video in this room fills with himalayan salt, supposed to help calming the mood. I remember reading the reviews about this location not being clean, but I personally think that the spa place is well taken care of when we are there (seats, floors, the room). Then we went to a different room where the pods were, he gave us instructions, the float process was about one hour (w/shower and everything). I fell asleep and the music at the end woke me up. Overall, we both had a fun experience. I felt relaxed esp after getting the free 10min of oxygen at the end. We asked another customer there and she seemed really enjoyed it too. I tried to make an appointment but was met with persistently intrusive questioning and a lack of answers to the simple question of "what time slots do you have available." I was never given so much as a date that I might be able to make an appointment. When I asked about this I was told that they never had access to the schedules at my location, and was collecting my information for an undisclosed purpose. Trying to be reasonable, I inquired about nearby facilities and was subsequently disconnected from the operator. read more

I purchased a groupon, as I like to do for 1st time experiences. 1st off the staff in Tempe were professional,courteous and inviting! It was incredibly therapeutic feeling weightless and in a void of all sensory input! I tend to have muscular soreness and have trouble sleeping. I noticed pain in my neck and lower back fade away, and not only while floating but for days after! I also slept very well the days following. An amazing experience I can not wait to go back. One suggestion would be a float pass! Coasting x amount of dollars for a specific amount of floats. What a lovely experience! (Tempe) Daniel was working the night I came in and he was so friendly, inviting, and had such a calming presence. That truly added value to my experience. after my float I took my time in the prep room to freshen up, etc. Then relaxed for a good 45 minutes+ with my friend while we enjoyed the oxygen bar, cups of hot tea, and browsing the journals. So cool! Definitely worth it to plan on staying a bit to soak up the whole zen-ness of the place:) *dont forget to put in the ear plugs *dont touch your face with the salty, salty pod water *bring water in the room for after *perhaps ask for an extra towel. I can't say enough positive things about this experience. My boyfriend and I are in town from San Diego and have endured a rough couple weeks. As a little treat I bought the Groupon (an hour float for each of us) and I can't think of a better way to unwind. I would like to say Steven (receptionist) was truly wonderful. He shook our hands to introduce himself and made me and Steven (boyfriend) feel extremely at home. With experiences like this, it's important for the people guiding you through to be knowledgeable and sincere. Steven is truly one of the most genuine people I've met in a long time and his positive energy filled the room. Everyone else has detailed their experience so I won't go into anymore that what's already been said. My best advice. Go in with an open mind and allow yourself the opportunity to be alone with your thoughts. It can be overwhelming for your first time but stay calm and focus on your breathing. Counting to 300 truly helps! The most beautiful sound is the sound of your own heart beat and it's a sound we so rarely hear. Enjoy yourself in every aspect of this experience. It's extremely intimate and incredibly therapeutic. The best news is they may be opening a location back home in Encinitas. As soon as they do, I'll be enrolling in a membership. I got the woman I was dating a gift certificate here since she always wanted to try the float tanks and, consequently, she brought me along when she got a package and it was not a disappointment. Very friendly staff and very clean establishment. The tanks are rooms and tanks are very spacious and the experience was truly refreshing and uplifting.
