I have been coming to this nail salon for the past year, and I have a set person I normally go to and SHE'S GREAT! Always does my nails to the T were I receive awesome compliments. I recently started a new job where I couldn't have the dazzling colors or long nails I normally get on any more. So, I called to see how much it would be for a color change and a cut down and if I could make an appointment with my regular nail tech. The OWNER ! , made it appoint to tell me she doesn't make appointments for that service and I would just have to walk in. I mean listen, if I come often and always give great feedback why can't I stay with the same person I'm use to! That was the first bummer. When I arrived at the location I understood they were busy and I'm perfectly fine with waiting for my normal tech, WAS NOT AN ISSUE! They assigned with another tech who rushed through my nails and cut it uneven and I was so unsatisfied with the job she had done! She didn't file the nail down and my nail was so sharp I could feel my self cutting my self. I even asked the tech if she could let me use her filer so I can file the corners! She explained to me my nail was wide and it wouldn't look right if I shaped them how I like them!! BIZZARE!! I'm not sure if I will ever return here but I have to acknowledge the fact when they're busy don't expect your normal tech for something minor and good work! I've been getting my nails at the Tru Nails Spa for over 6 years... but through the years the service keeps getting worse... I recommended this place for my sister. Two days before her wedding day she went in for "ombré French nails". She grew her own nails for over a year for her wedding, however the nail tech (doesn't speak English) decides to cut my sisters nails so short and performed the worst paint job I have ever seen. My sister was in tears, when I asked to speak with the manager, I waited for over 20 min while the entire staff would come up to us look at my sisters nails, laugh and speak in their language. It was EXTREMELY offensive. Finally the young gentleman working the front escorts us to the station where the manager was working and I can see her clearly ignoring us then she does "shoo motion with her hands". They didn't give us a refund, TERRIBLE service, extremely rude and not to mention the quality is garbage. I will never step foot in there again. Very bad experience! Took my girlfriend with me to get her nails done and a pedicure for myself. I got charged for a service I didn't ask (Callus removal). My girlfriend got Acrylic nails done. When I say that it came out bad, The depth of the nails were really high. The nails look like she has club nails. My girlfriend even told the lady that she wasn't satisfied with the nails. Meh, it was just ok. I came in for a mani pedi as a walk in. I asked if there would be a wait because I had exactly an hour and a half before I had to leave to pick up my son. They said it's fine. Ok cool. So then, I sit down in the pedicure chair, and they leave me sitting there for about 10 minutes before starting. I originally asked if they could do a design from a picture I brought in, and they were completely confused, even though it was simply irridescent foil accents, but whatever, they said they couldn't do it. No one suggested I use the massage features, and I couldn't find the buttons on the chair which is weird because they're usually right in sight, but anyway. The tech, whose name I didn't get b/c she never introduced herself, starting the usual polish removal and filing my toes which actually kind of hurt. Then I noticed she had cut one of my toes too short and my big toe on one foot was entirely shorter than the other one. Ugh, I hate that. It's not the biggest of deals, but come on, take some pride in your work. I could just tell my tech didn't care, and was just going through the motions. Sounds to me like Violet was on a rampage to negatively pick on this place and nothing would have been "satisfactory" to her "needs". I go here to get my nails, eyelashes, and waxing done. They are all very friendly and do a great job. Tina is especially great! She always does a wonderful job (especially at eyelashes) and paints beautiful designs on nails. True nail spa has a lot of potential, they have a salon full of nail technicians BUT their techs are under trained and do not know the latest nail shapes and designs. I wanted my nails in almond shape, they had no idea what I was talking about. Square and round shaped nails are ok, but for the more trendy girl we want current nail shapes and designs. Before Covid the standards for customer service were top notch. Depending on the technician the service can vary but generally had been good. The major need for improvement is effective managing of scheduling appointments versus walk ins. This lack of coordination has caused misunderstandings and feeling of disrespect with customers. Dec 31 I signed in as a walk in, I was next in line. Kelly took the walk-in before me. The next technician said she would be with me in a minute. Instead she took a gentlemen who said he had an appointment with Kelly - either the customer was late or Kelly forgot when she took the walk-in. Kelly, who is not the manager, told the technician who was to help me to service her customer instead. As a regular customer for many years I felt disrespected and no offer of resolution. Amy said no one was managing that day. I tried a few times to call and discuss with Holly but no answer. I will search for a better managed nail salon and will miss Nicole and many others who have delivered good service over the years. read more

They look pretty on the inside, but please beware - they don't follow DLLR's Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing regulations or expectations. I received a polish change on my hands and designs on my hands and big toes. I brought my own polish. I arrived in the evening and was greeted by two people. They both asked me what I wanted at the same time as if they were fighting for my attention. I chose one to answer to and was directed to a seat. I didn't wait at all, which was nice. As she started to do my nails, she asked me if I wanted my eyebrows waxed as well. I asked her who would do my waxing. She said she would. I asked her if she had a license to do waxing. Her response was, "This my shop. We all have license here." I asked her again if she had a license to wax, not just to do nails and she repeated the same thing, clearly frustrated with my question. Another lady recognized me because I came with my mother a few months ago. She asked about my mom and we small talked for a few seconds. My nail lady seemed more comfortable then and admitted that the shop wasn't her's and that she "just worked here". The place has pretty fixtures and furniture, but it's not well kept. There were used towels on almost every pedicure chair that no one apparently had the time to put away. As she did my polish change, she didn't put a towel down under my hand. She didn't wash her hands and didn't have me wash mine either. Additionally, she didn't use any hand sanitizer. She pulled a used file out of a drawer. This lack of sanitation is against regulations. There were about 15 different nail techs in the shop working on clients. I counted only two visible Nail Technician licenses on the walls. I saw none at individual stations. Makes you wonder big time. Also, I've been a licensed Nail Tech in the state of Maryland for over 12 years. I don't work in salons anymore, but I do work part-time for a Mobile Nail company that focuses on Natural nail care and strict sanitation and professionalism...so in other words, I know what I'm talking about here. Although I do my own nails, I mainly came here to get designs because they are harder for me to do on my own. Here's the gist of it all: * You don't feel like a guest or customer, they talk Vietnamese to each other, knowing you 're not likely to understand and I found it pretty rude to be talked around like I'm not there * They're not professional. One of the workers was trying on dresses and interrupted my nail service to get her co-workers opinion at least 3 times * They don't follow Maryland board regulated rules and sanitation. Licenses should be posted within plain view of the customer, either at the front desk or at workstations. They were not. Hands were not washed in addition to other unfortunate issues * In DC and Maryland, waxing falls under the cosmetologist's and aesthetician's license. IF these people had Nail Technician licenses (and who knows because they were not visible), then they were not licensed to wax and should not be offering services for which they are not trained to provide. Waxing can be dangerous and cause infection if not done properly. Again, I saw only two Nail Licenses for the 15 people working there. Even if they had Nail Licenses, having one does not allow a person to wax in Maryland * They offer massage services, but I saw no licenses verifying they were qualified and trained to offer such services * They did a good job of changing my polish and doing the design. Good results and price, but not worth the lack of sanitation, unprofessional atmosphere, lack of apparently non-license folks working there, and messiness of the salon * They had a good amount of product for sale available, especially lots of nice colors of OPI polish. I would go back to buy polish as gifts and for myself, but I'd be very careful about getting any "services" there read more

Her attitude was terrible during the whole service. I kept thinking about what I may have said or done. I asked her if it was safe for me to put my shoes and socks on, and she said yes! By the time i got home yesterday 4 of my toes were smudged! Of course I was pissed, being that I planned on never stepping foot in there again and 2. I have events this weekend. So I got to the shop at 9 today only to be disrespected once again. I informed the lady that I needed to get on the road and could not afford to wait for Tracy and would like the next available technician. Well the whole shop started taking in their native tongue. And everyone had "appointments". The next technician "Sarah"walked in and told me I should be lucky I was Tracy's client and she wouldn't do them otherwise. She walked around the shop and couldn't find the yellow that I had on and wanted to put a completely different yellow on the 4 toes, I told her absolutely not and I wanted black on the 4 instead, she threatened to charge me $10. I asked her if she was "ok, it's not my fault you can't find the color." The hairstylist was nice enough to find the color for me. The hairstylist was very nice and professional going the extra mile, when she absolutely didn't have to. I vow to never step foot in this shop. Unacceptable, very disappointed and overdone! I'm done with this place, I made three appointments on three different occasions with Kelly. I show up on time and only for her to tell me she's busy?! Huh? BUSY? Didn't I make an appointment? Well, she explains that the person she's providing service to was beyond late for their appointment now she's backed up. How backwards is that? I'm the one on time and the person that's late is out if luck, right? Typically that's how it works. Well, not with Kelly, I tried to explain this to her and she obviously pretended not to understand. Then tried to push me onto her sister, after every word I said. I been there done that with the sister, she mess my nails up some kind of horrible. They cracked, peeled, chipped and on top of that, they were not smooth and my cuticles look like I still needed a refill. Nope, I'll pass! I've ONLY had a full body massage so it's the only thing I can share a review on. About 10 minutes into the massage my body was starting to fall asleep. It was a different feeling of relaxation. Everything was perfect. My only complaint is that the room was a little chilly so when the hot stones cooled off or the masseuses warm hands stopped massaging me, I would get a little bit of chills in my body so I couldn't fully enjoy my 45 minutes of massage as I would've liked to. read more

I have been going to this spa off and on for four years. My first experience in 2012, I felt that I had found an "upscale" full-service nail salon. The atmosphere, attention to detail and hygiene as well as the professionalism of the staff, I was in love. Bi-monthly, I was there and looked forward to handing over my money including tips for what I knew to be worth it. Not anymore. My first bad experience in 2013 was when I encountered rudeness by whomever was at the front reception desk. I asked for my nail technician, I did not have an appointment. I was told that they weren't in. I was then "given" to someone else and asked to pick my polish. I did not want to go with another person and asked when the nail tech. I was there to see would be in. The response was quick and dismissive. I chalked it up to her being busy. I also felt that "I" was wasting her time and thus went with other technician. Subsequent months, the same rudeness and shortness with me, even when not busy (no excuse by the way). What capped it for me was the sharp way my hands would be grabbed, fingers moved to the side to get to the next one, the various technicians either talking to themselves or on their phones. The upselling of services was also unsettling. When I would politely decline I was told several times, "you will be beautiful" if you get your eyebrows waxed, or false lashes applied, or worse your mustache waxed. I did not know my very slight peach fuzz qualified as a mustache! Last experience coming back after a 2-year break. I decided to treat myself to nail tips. Since it had been two years I felt why not try again. Mistake! Since January I have had to have a full-set of nails replaced 3 times do to lifting. I have had many different technicians, my original tech. long gone. The replacement tips were always done after criticizing whoever did the first set (they were talking about their colleagues and didn't bolster my confidence in them!). Overall I think it is poor quality in the materials they are using considering I use gloves if I have to wash dishes outside of my dishwasher. The front desk staff is very dismissive when concerns are voiced, or worse treat you as if you aren't speaking clearly enough. Each separate technician I have had over the six months do things a little different but all are rude. Well with the exception of Van. She is exceptional, but it is hard to find out when she is in because of the rude front desk staff. I will not go back. The atmosphere-techs on their phones either texting or talking, taking bites of food and talking loudly among themselves has not improved. It is a bit worn down, but more importantly unclean. The rough handling of my hands including at times making me bleed is not tolerable. The chasing of the dollar has overridden there desire to provide quality services. True Nail Spa is adequate regarding eyebrow maintenance other wise taking your money elsewhere is the sensible thing to do. Some of the staff are not licensed. The pedicures are poor. The man who did my manicure had very unkempt hands which was ironic. The staff tends to carry on in their native language disregarding the customer. They talk mostly to each other and ensure the impression that you're only a dollar sign. To their credit walk-ins are acknowledged right away. Maybe I had a bad luck because the couple previous reviews are pretty good. I went to this place for a spa pedicure and unfortunately the service was horrible. First, he cut way too deep twice when he trimmed my cuticles. Then he proceeded to buff my toe nails all over, right on top of those sensitive cuticles. He buffed away like buffing some stones. At this point, my toe nails were irritated pretty bad. He said sorry, but insincerely. I try to understand that MAYBE he can't speak English very well, but it's not hard to ask client's preference about what shape should he file the toe nails, the level of heat that the client can tolerate for the steamed towel and the hot stones. He rubbed the hot stones and burned me couple times. They were way too hot and he rubbed the stones as if my legs and feet were made out of stone themselves. The cherry on top was the way he applied the polish. In the end, lots of the polish are sitting on the cuticles and around the toe nails. He spent a long time to erase the mistakes with small brush & acetone. This nail technician is absolutely the worst. He even dare to ask me if I want to get my feet massaged for $15 extra. You gotta be kidding me. I'm not going to risk getting feet problem and now I worry about whether I'm going to get fungal infection or not. Ugh. I wanted to address the problem in the end of the service,but the lady at the front desk was too busy counting money that they made. Did I tip him? Yes, because I know how it feels working in service industry, but I will never come back to this place and I don't recommend anyone to come here. At least for pedicure. read more

My first time coming here was a really pleasant experience but any time after that has been very on and off. Today, I am totally dissatisfied with my nails and pedicure. There is polish all in the cuticles and around the nail. I asked the technician to please fix it and he just caught an attitude and did a half-butt job trying to clean it up. Then while I was getting my fill in the little machine that is used keep burning and scratching my skin. You would think after a person says ouch more than 5 times they would stop or be more careful but he did not. Every time I said ouch he would just suck his teeth, wait like 2 seconds then continue the work. I walked into this place while waiting for an oil change for my car, in desperate need of a haircut. Pham greeted me and said that she'd be happy to take me. I'm extremely paranoid about who touches my hair, so I was a little skittish at first, but it was clear that Pham was on my side, and that she wasn't going to try anything crazy. Tina is a great manicurist. She is very friendly an she does my nails exactly how I like. Last night I went into the salon an requested Tina, who was on vacation. I stressed I needed to have my nails done an needed the best because I am very picky. I was blessed with another great manicurist, Holly. She has a great personality and very spuncky. She informed me it would be best to for my nails if we soaked off the old acrylic an start with new. She was concerned with the health of my nail an she assured me it was for the best. I was concerned cause I didn't want to cut my nails that had grown. But she did not have to cut them an put acrylic over my nails. The whole process to 2 hrs, but it really didn't feel long.
