I needed to find a salon that was closer to home with excellent reviews. And I found what I was looking for at Loveaux! Christina is the consummate professional -- highly skilled, responsive, and personable. She still takes COVID protocols seriously, which is a relief to me. And she gave me a Brazilian and underarm wax that left me smooth as a baby's bottom. #nohairleftbehind In sum, I was very pleased with the entire experience -- from the ease of initial booking to leaving with after-care instructions. The ONLY reason I didn't give this visit a full 5 stars is because I consider waxing to be a sacred part of my self-care. But the atmosphere at Loveaux is not spa-like, as the regular 5:00 local news was playing loudly on a TV the day I was there. I visited Loveaux Nails for a deluxe pedicure, and Christina did an amazing job. You can tell she really cares about quality...she really took her time and was very detail-oriented. As a result, my nails looked great for nearly 6 weeks (granted it was winter time, but still)! Loveaux is a one-woman shop, and her space is very cozy. I did have a little trouble finding her space at first--you enter through the door marked for Sola Salon Studios right next to the apartment building entrance. Please note that Christina takes her clients' health very seriously (many are diabetic) and requested that I share a photo of my COVID vaccine record with her before confirming my appointment, and to confirm that I did not have or been in contact with someone who had COVID recently. OMG! Long review incoming but stay with me...So I found Christina last minute after months of looking for a new wax lady and was very impressed by the reviews she already had. I followed the directions on her website about calling first where she conducted a mini consultation. This made me know I was in good hands. I quickly booked my appointment and she squeezed me in that SAME day. I got to my appointment and she was still finishing up with a client so I had no problem waiting, besides she squeezed me in her schedule. During the wait, she checked on me a couple times, which made a customer like me feel acknowledged and seen. When it came down to the appointment, I got a brazilian and underarms waxed. She was very knowledgeable about different types of wax, skin and even talks about diseases people tend to overlook. She also is gentle but thorough throughout the whole process. It hurt a bit since it had been a while but she was calling me trooper LOL and she also made sure I was well prepared by telling me to eat a banana and a pain killer before coming. I usually do my nails myself, but wanted gel nails since I was going to be on travel. Christine was super patient about my tizzying about my color and did a bang up job on my nails. Not so thick they look fake, but strong not to break when packing and unpacking etc. She also treated my nails for breakage and gave me some tips on how not to ruin them. I didn't read any reviews, but I found this salon because my esthetician is next door and I thought I would check it out. I made an appointment for a gel manicure. First of all, I was 15 minutes late. I called ahead, ready to have my appointment canceled on me, but Christina was very understanding & kind. When I arrived, I was greeted warmly and immediately felt comfortable around Christina. After filling out a brief questionnaire, Christina got to work. We talked about everything from her previous jobs, my career, children, relationships, race relations, and so much more. I felt like I was talking to an old friend which is hard for me as someone with social anxiety. Talking did not slow down Christina either as she expertly shaped my nails, removed my cuticles, and applied the gel polish. I found Christina in my desperate search for a nail technician during COVID. My feet were a HOT mess considering my last pedicure was in February, prior to me seeing her. Since I was a new customer she had procedures in place for screening and even offered a consultation prior to the service. Booking was easy and efficient and since I am pregnant safety during this time is a huge concern for me but I felt safe going to Christina because she keeps her mask on throughout your service and requires that you wear one as well. There is a parking garage located at the salon, and you have to be buzzed in to enter. At the end of your service the parking is validated for you which is great. I loved my Gel pedicure and it lasted for a while. I definitely recommend her for your nail services. I haven't tried the waxing services yet but will update my review when I do. read more

I was absolutely thrilled with my nails after getting a full set with Christina! I haven't done acrylic nails in a very long time -- maybe 5 years. But I like to treat myself when I'm about to go on an important trip and I had an outfit motif that I wanted to match. I didn't want to settle, so I chose to go to a dedicated nail technician who, luckily, was so close to where I lived. First, I LOVE that we discussed what I wanted before the appointment because we were able to talk about what was possible to do and there were no surprises when I came in. Second, and what I was extremely grateful for, there was inclement weather on the day of my appointment. Understandably, she notified her clients that she would not be able to come in. However, I was leaving in two days for my trip and I was bummed I might have to go somewhere else and probably not get what I wanted for my nails. I usually don't do reviews and comments. .. This place is Overpriced. The first impression, ok, it's one to one. Great because it's more private. I also liked the outcome at first. Also, She seemed friendly and professional. I wanted gel manicure and extension, but she doesn't do gel nail extension, so I got acrylic nails with a gel manicure only. Unfortunately, my nails only lasted for 10days, and 2 of my nails got broken. It was not the full gel nail set, but she charged me $70 for acrylic nail extension with almond shape+ gel manicure only. Not the full set. I also had a Brazilian wax. I think the hair got cut in the middle instead of pulling out at the roots because I noticed that the hair started growing after 3-4 days after waxing. I don't know. I went there after careful review on the yelp, but this was disappointing. She also seemed in a rush to get things done before the next appointment. read more

Here we go, from start to finish! I found Loveaux here on Yelp and I had to try it out! I live in downtown Silver Spring so the location was incredibly convenient. I scheduled an appointment very easily on the web scheduling platform (bonus points for not having to call!) to get my old gel polish removed and new gel put on. It was a little confusing to get to Loveaux mainly because I didn't realize it is located inside Sola Studios. Once I figured that out, I was good to go! I thought Christina's studio was extremely cute, loved the aqua wall color, and she was inviting and friendly from the second I walked in. She also offered me a coffee, which gets more bonus points! From the second I sat down I knew I was working with an exceptionally knowledgeable nail technician. She asked questions about my nail history, my personal health (only things that are relevant to nails), and explained her process very thoroughly since I had never been there before. I could tell she was very interested in maintaining her clean environment and minimizing risk for all of her clients. On top of the excellent job she did, she offers a loyalty program, and is just generally the nicest person I have met in a LONG time! Unfortunately I'm the unicorn who didn't have a 5 star experience. Actually let me rephrase that. I'd rate it as a 4 star experience, but based on subsequent things I'm docking it 3 stars. Christina is personable. And sweet. Easy to talk to. She's kind. My gel mani looked great! But she lost her first star because my appointment started nearly 30 min late. I arrived around 10:55 for my 11am appointment and I saw someone was in the chair. So I waited outside. Every ten min I took a peek and saw the same lady was j the chair. Around 11:20a I decided to ask how much longer she would be. Christina said she didn't even realize I was there... I feel like that's besides the point. I had an appointment for 11am so at 11am, that chair should be empty. It's not like she was done with her client when I walked in anyway... She was still working. She told me I should've said something sooner. Which I do agree with, but I also believe that at 11am she should've been ready for me. What's the point in making an appointment if you don't honor that? I've had nail technicians run behind at similar establishments but they at least had the courtesy to say I'll be 5-10min. About five min later, she told me to come in. She apologized for starting me late and I had a really nice time talking to her and getting my nails done. The manicure itself was nice and the color I chose was gorgeous. Sadly, my GEL manicure started chipping 4 days later... 4 days!! I've never had that happen to me before. And each day after that, my nails got progressively worse. I was really upset about it. So she lost a star there. I emailed Christina about it and asking if she could fix it since gel manicures aren't supposed to chip so quickly. She never replied to my email but had the nerve to send emails out about black Friday deals... Another star lost. It is located in Sola Salon, which I thought was a hair salon from walking by it, But it is actually 20+ different independent beauty business owners under one roof. Pretty cool! Christina was very personable throughout the pedicure. She was meticulous about my cuticles and perfectly polished my nails, which I appreciated. In terms of sanitation/cleanliness, every customer gets a personal, disposable foot basin so you don't need to worry about if the technician adequately cleaned the basin after the last customer. Also, Christina opens a new set of tools for each customer (which is pretty standard nowadays but good to know). I will definitely be back and next time I am going to try a gel pedicure! Christina also does waxing services! Some FYIs - you cannot walk-in but need to make an appointment. You can do this online. You also need to book with a credit card. After sending her a screenshot showing I did add a note about the gift card in the payment info, she suggested that I somehow edited that after talking to her. I don't even know how I would do that. I've since emailed her the original receipt (showing the note) and 2 additional follow up emails with no replies 12 days later. So I'm taking that as she accused me of lying/forging the credit card note, being drunk and emotional and I'm not going to get a refund, even though she canceled the appointment. I apologized for that. I continued to get yelled at about various things so I said I was going to hang up and finally did as I was getting yelled at that her policies were on her website. I got a text that my appointment was canceled shortly after. I had planned on scheduling the consultation and coming back fresh calling to apologize later. So I'm out $50 for the deposit and my friends are out $100. I've never had to jump through so many hoops to spend money somewhere or had to read every word of the website to get service.
